She had all four impacted wisdom teeth surgery during winter break with the oral surgeon in our hometown. She was good for the post-op but suddenly developed jaw and gum pain along with face swelling yesterday. She was scared and away from home. Luckily, I found Dr. Irving on Yelp. Called right at 8am this morning and Cissy, who answered the phone, was professional, understanding, and patient with this worried mom! She scheduled my daughter for this afternoon and was clear on what Dr. Irving needed from the other oral surgeon before the appt. And to fill out the Patient Registration form on their website. My daughter was cared for by Dr. Irving - both infected sides were numbed and cleaned out. He also wanted to evaluate her to make sure antibiotics were necessary. He reassured her that her recovery would be easier than after her surgery. He got her in and out. She is feeling much better tonight, and I'm glad she has an excellent oral surgeon away from home!

It took three phone calls to even get an email address for them so I could send my prior x-rays. In office, the hygienist struggled to access the x-rays. Then she tells me their phone/email system is handled by someone in Pakistan: huge red flag. Is that HIPAA complaint? That's if you're a lucky new patient. Existing patient calls are answered by an AI agent. I know many won't notice or care about this, but I found the AI voice wildly off-putting and misogynist. The LLM imitates the voice of a teenager with intense vocal fry, bored affect, and unprofessional slang. Given how much AI is used for pornography, I believe this AI was trained on pornographic content. Fine if you're into that, but as a woman I don't think I should have to interact with porn just to call my dentist. I was irritated by all of this but wanted to give them a try anyway. Unfortunately, their medical service is also low quality. The dentist exam was very brief. He ordered an x-ray and then didn't even look at it, but instead accepted the hygienist's interpretation. I know this because there is no privacy in the office and you can hear all conversations between staff and other patients. Immediately after, I get an email that my follow up appointment was scheduled for a procedure I never consented to. When I replied stating I did not schedule this appointment, I was told that their AI system schedules these automatically. They also have a fairly harsh cancelation policy - $50 fee for cancelling with 72 hours, longer than industry standards. It seems they just make appointments without consent from patients in hopes of collecting fraudulent fees. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about this practice, which I do not think should be legal. I have nothing positive to recommend about this place. Lesson: never ignore red flags and get your teeth cleaned elsewhere.

After visiting another dentist 6 months later, they said I had 5 cavities and one was so bad I nearly had to have a root canal. Thankfully they were miracle workers and filled my cavity without needing a root canal. I'm no dental expert, but I highly doubt my teeth developed all of these issues within 6 months of my last cleaning... PLEASE AVOID FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH!

Took the x-rays and could not determine the source of the problem, and insisted I needed a tooth cleaning. I told him I had a tooth cleaning 2 weeks prior to seeing him, so he prescribed me antibiotics instead. Pain went away, but came back full-force a month later. Insisted on taking x-rays AGAIN, could not find a problem, and told me to deal with the pain and gave me a free tube of Sensodyne tooth paste, saying it should help with my problem. I thought I needed a root canal, but he told me to not worry about it until several years down the line. He said that if the pain persists for another 6 months then to come back and we'll start again from square one. Long story short, went to a more qualified dentist and he did a few tests and thought I needed a root canal. Referred me to a specialist who agreed with the prognosis, and told me we probably could have saved the root had the first dentist noticed the signs and that waiting the few months/years as Harrison suggested would have resulted in a lot of pain for me and possibly losing my tooth. Crazily, that is not why he got 1 star. If I could give him 0 stars I would. He billed my insurance for a fluoride treatment, teeth cleaning, and an "emergency procedure." He NEVER gave me the fluoride treatment nor the teeth cleaning. And giving me tooth paste is an "emergency procedure" that warrants $150? I hope this guy gets busted for fraud.

But unfortunately i've found that their billing practices are be deceptive and untrustworthy. I found them through Zocdoc, which listed them as in-network for my Aetna plan. When I went in for my appointment, the front desk staff reassured me that I would be covered through my insurance. But they gave me an incredibly high bill for fillings, higher than i've ever paid before on this same insurance. The front desk is also pushy, they kept trying to lock me into the payment plan on the same day. I later looked into the billing directly via my insurance and realized that they aren't actually in-network. At this point I had already completed half a treatment plan and paid out-of-network rates I hadn't transparently consented to. This doesn't appear to be a one-off error. Other reviews describe the same pattern. If you're considering this practice: call your insurance provider directly and confirm network status before your first appointment. Do not rely on Zocdoc or the practice's own representation. The quality of dental work is alright but you have to do your own due diligence.

I researched Bio Dentistry and on a recommendation from my naturopathic doctor chose Dr. Hites. He has replaced all of my mercury as well as my husbands with skillful precaution and has also treated my daughter's complicated mouth issues with compassion, grace and patience. He is grounded, calm, and professional and has an excellent bedside manner. We feel safe in his care and relieved to have a dentist who is knowledgeable and up to date on alternative health modalities without ever making us feel wrong that we didn't know. For example, I had no idea the extreme importance of nose breathing which Dr. Hites educated me about and he supports the way I aspire to nourish my family, with nutrient dense food and no processed food. While he is efficient and business like and not a person who lingers or inquires into our personal life experience, he does provide a very high quality level of care and I have now referred him to several of my friends and colleagues. A special shout out to Patricia, one of his assistants who makes my daughter feel like the most important person on earth. She is a saint and a warm hearted love bug who makes up for the lack of enthusiasm that a couple of the other staff lack. It's all nicely balanced. One minor negative issue is that I have at times felt a little bothered with one of the staff who is curt and less than friendly but I try to grant her her innocence since all of the other staff are for the most part gracious. They refuse to do "Preop" It means that they refuse to send it to your insurance so you would find out how much is covered. Instead they give you some random number, that they think it would cover. And it is usually a wrong number.They put a pressure on me to pay in full before the procedure, telling that it would cost me more if I did not pay in full weeks before the expensive procedure would happen. When Insurance partially reimburses you it goes to them again even though it was paid in full. If you have an insurance make sure it is written somewhere that it pays you and not them. And then you have to call them again and again to get your insurance reimbursement There is a lot of confusion in the office. They make an appointment and then when you arrive on time tell you that you were not scheduled. When you ask to talk to the manager Marissa they say she was not there, she will call you. She does not return your call. Dr.Hites himself became too expensive and does not always tell you a price for the procedure before he does it. In other words a total disappointment.

As I mention in my 2021 review of that dentist, I'm from the '60's, a time when people weren't as concerned about having perfect looking teeth. I actually find real, healthy looking teeth, that have some character, refreshing. I was a bit surprised by how much goes into getting permanent crowns. It's a big investment in both time and money. I feel that Dr. Au made it the most affordable it could be. My four new teeth look great, especially after living with those stained temporary veneers for so long. Compared to other dental practices, this one doesn't have the latest flashy technology (cushy chairs, TVs above the patient chair, and other shiny equipment). None of this is necessary, but it's an added bonus in case you're looking for that type of dental experience. One improvement I would suggest is to create an email or text notification to manage appointments and reminders. I often get a reminder phone call 1 day before my appointment and by then, I may have scheduled over the time slot (my bad). My schedule is dynamic so having an easy way to change appointments without playing phone tag with Brenda could be beneficial for everyone.
