I chose Ashlee because she sounded very passionate about her work. She mentions how important it is to capture photos of things like their feet and lips. She also has some really cute bed props that I really wanted for my newborn's photos. We selected her most expensive package $1,200 for 3 hours. My son was about 2 1/2 weeks when we went for our session. Her studio is very welcoming. She has snacks, water and a tv which was nice. She's not too talkative which I'm ok with, but I did think she seemed very different from the person on her website. An hour into our session I mentioned to her that I wanted one of the beds in the photo shoot. She said it depended on the baby and that she was already gonna use the bucket. I was like yea I understand it depends on the baby. I figured I still have 2 hours and it's something that I really want so I'm sure she'll do her best. The session ended about 15-20 min early. When we came back to view the photos I was so disappointed that she did not include the bed but she did include the bucket (which I didn't care for). I would think it's easier to use a bed than the bucket. I was also very disappointed in the sibling photo where my toddler kisses his brother. His eyes were open and it was obvious he was staring off into nothing. That's something that she should've noticed. My toddler would've closed his eyes if he was told to do so. She also didn't include any photos of his lips, feet, or hands. Afterwards when I received the photos I had selected I checked to see if any showed some detail on his feet at least. None of them did. It was either blurry or he was in a swaddle. All this shows that she's clearly no longer passionate about her work the way her website claims. We ordered a woodblock with her which she said would take 8 weeks. We thought that was a long time but oh boy were we wrong. We ordered it on July 15th and it didn't arrive until Dec 8th. Almost 5 months. I was the one reaching out about it's status. Once in sep, once in oct, and twice in nov. I think I was pretty patient. It was in nov that I found out it was coming from the Netherlands. She asked if I wanted a complimentary session...but the $1,200 session already comes with a complimentary session to use within 12 months. I'm obviously not gonna use it. When I went to pick up the photoblock there was no apology just "here's your stuff" and "do you need help with it?" The photo block is beautiful but because it's next to my first son's photo block from a different photographer I quickly notice the blurred feet. I love my first son's photo block! You can see the detail on his face and feet. It's almost as if you can reach out and grab him from that photo. Also, when I ordered the woodblock she sent me an invoice for $700. When I told her she had said it would be $479 she responded that she had fat fingered it. That's a big price difference and I don't know how you fat finger $700 instead of $479. Between her and my previous photographer I definitely prefer the first one. This review is important to me because I want other moms to know what they need to look out for in case they go with Ashlee. I don't get a second chance to redo these photos. My baby will never be that small again. read more

I found Ashlee on Yelp while searching for a photographer for my baby girl's 1st bday cake smash session. She was 1 of 3 photographers I reached out to and I'm so glad I went with Ashlee. I am really grateful ashlee was available at such short notice. Baby was just a 3 days old and I decided I must have newborn photos. Ashlee had an opening for us when babe was 8days old. Another photographer wasn't able to get us in until she was 16 days old. Her location in imperial beach was critical, since I wasnt comfortable traveling a long distances with a newborn. Studio was really nice. her price is pricey. More expensive than the other photographer but I dropped the ball on that and was willing to pay. Website was a little confusing. Prices per photos are $62 each (10 minimum). If you purchase a package with albums or other stuff then the price per pic is $58 each (10 minimum). We did a review of the photos and they're great. Super cute. Every request me made she honored. We brought in personal props and took a few different shots with them. I requested some poses with a headband and then same pose without a head band. We had so many poses it was hard to mail it down to just 10 prints. We may have gone a little overboard. Easily went over $1000 on this shoot. Oops Lol. This is my first time doing professional photos so I and my family don't have any knowledge of how the process goes. So I do wish there was more prep done with us to get an a more thorough of Ashlee's technique, get our idea of poses, outfits, themes, and such.
