In addition, she sent passive aggressive emails and we had to do the best we could to bite our tongues. In the words of Maya Angelou - "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I will never forget how JoAnne made me feel. It was not as pleasant of an experience as I had hoped it would have been but there is a silver lining in all of this...my roommates and I got almost our entire security deposit back. One of the most impressive moments was when we randomly came to the build and found Reed in the tree well digging out dirt with a pick axe and shovel so we could meet the tree inspection deadline. The builder was dragging his feet and Reed decided he could get it done. It was August and miserable and he was moving bucketloads of dirt out so we could close. During the process, Isaiah fought for us all the way. For example, we ended up in what could potentially have been a bidding war with another family, but Isaiah helped us figure out a price that would ward off a potential bidding war while working within our budget. Though it didn't feel like it at the time, when we look at comps and other metrics, we got a total deal on our home. After inspecting the home, Isaiah also helped us negotiate our bid price down so we could address issues with the HVAC system immediately. Other realtors will talk to you, then send you a database of MLS postings that match your square footage and pricing criteria. Then they make you do the work to select homes from viewing listings and pictures online. When you seem interested in a home, you ping them and tell them you want to see a home. It's a really passive process. Isaiah worked hard to figure out our tastes and needs. He actively sought to show us homes so we could make the cost tradeoffs we needed. With my busy work schedule and the stress of third-trimester pregnancy, the last thing I wanted to do was sit and view MLS postings all day.
