So I was supposed to be getting a couch tomorrow, booked 18 days in advance, I was very excited since I currently have no couch at all...except I realized that the delivery guys were supposed to have called me, so I called them and guess what? They had no delivery scheduled for me. I contacted the Coquitlam location where I purchased it and was told the salesperson I'd bought it from would call me after her break. That did not happen, instead I got a text from a bot asking if I would now like to schedule my delivery? So I called again and finally got to talk to the salesperson I'd purchased from who said she'd look into it and get back to me. Then received a text asking about another date to schedule it. I said have a manager contact me. After talking with the manager I explained that I live in a high rise with a concierge desk and the elevator must be booked and paid for here in ADVANCE, and on top of that the concierge is only available until 4pm. So now I have to get up tomorrow morning just to explain this last second cancellation and hope that they have elevator availability for the new date. Now I have to hope I'm even allowed to use the elevator that day AND hope that the couch will actually come this time because apparently booking a delivery with Ashley doesn't actually mean anything. What was done to make up for this bs runaround and complete inconvenience? Absolutely nothing. 0 f's given. Do yourself a favour and just go to the brick or somewhere else where they actually know how to keep customers and stay in business. In this economy with places going under and locations closing every time you blink you'd think they would do better. If you make a purchase from Ashley it is advisable to ensure that everything is perfect right from the beginning of when they deliver as their after sales service is non existent. We ordered two expensive leather loveseats with an extra cost of "White Glove" installation. The delivery people were unable to properly install one component or rectify another defective part and asked that we contact customer service. Customer service put us through the hoops of sending in multiple photos and then demanding a serial number before advising us that they would order parts. Then we get a text saying that they are shipping the parts to our home and indicated that we are to install them ourselves. This after paying for the supposed "White Glove" service. Now dealing with "Jenny" who, in spite of multiple requests, will not reach out to the store by phone so we can talk to the store manager and, instead, says she has emailed the store. I would recommend that if the first installation is inadequate, refuse the delivery and have them pack it up and send it back and make them try again. And...by the way....still waiting for a phone call from the store manager. Use Ashley Furniture at your own risk. read more

Paid over $7000.00 for a bedroom suite and had it delivered. They broke the mirror support and said someone would be in touch to repair it but to be careful as it could fall over. After about a month I called to see what was going on but they had no idea what the problem was. Kept asking me to describe the issue but I didn't see it and don't know. She read the report and said she would have someone be in touch and send out the parts. They sent the parts to ME!!! Now I had to go get them from the carrier service. After another month I again phoned them and they said they would send someone out to do the repairs. Another day I had to sit around waiting for their service. He drilled some new holes and blew the wood onto my carpet. Very nice. He didn't use anything that came in the parts box. I showed him some manufacturers defects that could be fixed with a colored pen but he didn't have one, said it should be fixed by a professional. He took pictures and again I was told that someone would be in touch. After over another month I again called and she insisted that I send her pictures. After a five minute argument she discovered that they had the pictures the last guy took. I told her I didn't want to waist another day waiting for someone to fix this new furniture and to just send the pen. She refused and the best they would do is give me a $20,00 refund. Yup, you read that right, $20.00. on a $7000.00 purchase. I'm not sure why they won't send a touch up pen, maybe it costs $21.00??? I now wish I had read the reviews of this AMERICAN company before walking into this store. Hopefully this helps the next person from being a victim of these unscrupulous vendors. read more

I didn't like my experience at Ashley HomeStore. I was immediately followed and kept being interrupted by their associate under training. I like to take my time and look around and politely told them that I would let them know if I needed help. I ended up choosing a bed frame and I specifically asked for the model with storage. My parents replaced their 20 year old couch and loveseat with a new set from Ashley. They were so excited and felt confident buying because Ashley had an extended warranty. After 6 months the fabric started lifting and ripping (not pilling). And Ashley said this was normal wear and tear and not covered under the warranty. Purchased a coffee table set in mid January this year. Big sale on (Jan) and found a set that suited what I wanted.We were told that it would be a final sale because we were buying the floor model (except one end table had to be ordered as there was only one in the store). We looked it over and could not see any defects or scratches etc. My husband commented on the lighting that he couldn't really see it that well. The sales lady quote -"Not to worry - we offer a one year warranty!!! As we were paying at the desk - when I was handed the bill I asked where the 1 year warranty was on the bill - she just said quote- Its our store policy that we offer a 1 year warranty. that was a complete LIE! When we got it delivered - upon cleaning the set I discovered that the stain was already coming off the edge and showing white on the coffee table. One of the end tables glass was too small and had a gap of almost a quarter inch and the other end table had tiny stain bubbles. People that saw it for the first time could not believe that it was brand new. Needless to say -I was not happy with this in my living room and worrying what the finish would look like in a year. I called Ashley Furniture on day 3 and told them about this and was told that because it was a final sale, they could not and would not do anything about it. When I mentioned about the 1 year warranty I was told that the warranty did not apply because it was a final sale. After going back and forth with this - I offered and asked if I could return it and get a refund for just over half of what I paid for it. The response was that they do not offer refunds!! And thats it... So I am stuck with this set that I hate and it looks very cheap and used. I have NEVER EVER dealt with a store with this kind of policy and also to deny that they told us that there was a one year warranty. I would say that of all of the business dealings I have ever had this was the worst. I am a senior and recently retired having spent over 40 years in a professional occupation. My partner and I went to Ashley in Langley never having done business with them before. We purchased several thousands of dollars worth of furniture amongst which included a living room arm chair and a rug. In addition two sofa's one of which did not fit in our elevator and was taken back to the warehouse. The rug I was received was torn and worn in several places. The cushion for the chair had a highly unpleasant chemical smell that permeated the apartment. I took the rug and cushions back to the store and was told by the sales manager. "That I bought an off the floor rug so I have to except it without returns." " He also told me that although it was underneath furniture that he had it taken out and rolled up in front of me and I asked for a discount this was totally untrue." I never asked for a discount nor did I ever see the part of it under the furniture. He directly lied to me and when confronted with his lies he waffled in his description of events. WHEN I FIRST WENT INSIDE THE STORE THERE WAS A CHAIR WITH A HAND WRITTEN SIGN ADVERTISING THE CHAIR FOR $ 349.00 SAYING THE ORIGINAL PRICE WAS $1179. HOWEVER WHEN I LOOKED IN THEIR OWN INVENTORY CATALOGUE THE PRICE WAS $825.99. When confronted with this misinformation the same sales manager told me that when they started to sell the product it was $1179 but the retail prices dropped. They are a pathetic group of liars and not worthy of any business dealings at all. read more

The sales rep Beverly was very rude and pushy. She made snide remarks at the closing of the sale after we signed our contract with them. We didn't appreciate the level of service provided at all even though we bought close to 4000$ in furniture! When my furniture was being delivered the corner of a bed frame was quite heavily damaged. The delivery folks were courteous and nice enough about the whole thing and took it back. But when I called the warehouse to find out when our new frame would be coming they quoted me one to two weeks. Now I'm told it'll be another few more weeks before I can take delivery of my frame. So far very unimpressed with the level of service and how they take care of their customers. I would STRONGLY suggest you shop elsewhere b/c the folks here don't care about you once you've signed the dotted line. read more

Not a great experience at langley location . Found the staff to be rude . Staff had poor knowledge on product . Example : kept having to flip over signs that were displayed on the product itself or run back and forth to computer leaving the conversation . Ashley furniture is expensive and knowledgeable staff should be key . People who come in and spend big money upfront don't want to deal with silly delays . Most furniture stores will cut you deals if u buy several items , such as free delivery . Not here . In Fact, they charge you to deliver . And if u have say 2-3 deliveries on different days because product isn't ready .. They charge you each time they deliver your items . They really push u with purchasing the same day u walk in . They tell you buy now because product is going up in pricing within the week even more then it already is. Also staff shouldn't talk about their commission and how if they give u a deal their commission goes down the tubes ; some things should be left unsaid. I had a good wander through Ashley Furniture today; although for the most part their merchandise isn't my taste I found several bed frames I am a major fan of and all at very reasonable prices. The store is massive, two floors (the upper being mostly bedroom furniture). They have any piece you could possibly look for. However, in the 30 minutes I wandered no one offered assistance even once. There was a lot of staff on the floor - I guess they were busy doing their jobs? If I needed help I could have asked easily as they were visible, but it is always nice to be greeted. Although their mechandising was good, I was semi-confused as their set-ups were scattered - it wasn't "living room" then "dining" then "bedroom" some were mixed is random places. Worth a gander if you prefer more classic style furniture - if love plain sleek and modern you may have difficulties here. read more

The worst experience I had so far in Canada for 18 years!!!! Just spend over $7,500 in Ashley. They improperly assembled one piece of the furniture. When I called, they asked me to haul the furniture back to their warehouse. They said I should check the furniture before took them home. However, the furniture was all wrapped with plastic on the delivery date. How can we check the condition of the furniture with all those wraps? My experience at the store was ok.the sales person was fine. We didn' have it delivered cost of $129:00 plus tax. the table was $ 372:98.They assembled the table told us that we should bring covers and blankets. we picked it up got home the edges were wrapped by the warehouse staff. when we took it off there were scratches under the wrap.I called the store Customer Service was rude and said since we picked it up its our problem.There is no way the employee didn't notice this scratch. We were sold on the furniture as being Top Grain leather when it is obviously not according to the tags. Have your salespeople understand that honesty goes much further than a quick commission. In 2006, I bought a -leather- chesterfield reduced from 1999.00 to 999.00 - great - my last one for life - am a senior citizen - but in 2013 the chesterfield is splitting apart - on the arm - split - seats that can't be reversed - split - I am the only one using it and this should not happen. So I went to another store explained - he said oh you were taken - it's not leather that is why it's splitting. Now my advice is do not shop there - unless you know your leathers. There's so MANY reasons why I do NOT recommend this store to my family and friends, and to everyone. - they have given us an estimate date as to when we would possibly receive the dining set that we ordered. - it was a month wait which is sort of long, but the worse thing is that even after waitig for a month, the furniture that we order, was not delivered yet. -NO ONE had the courtesy to call and advise us that the shipment was delayed and we have to wait for 2more weeks. POOR customer service and empathy. - when you cancel, they charge 20% even if it's their fault. I have very disappointing experience with this Ashley Furniture store (Coquitlam location). The sale rep was rushing during check out and did NOT clearly explain the contract to us. The experience with the delivery and after sale service was even worse. First, the delivery team chipped my table during delivery. Secondly, it was hard to call and reach someone to talk to. Finally, when the store/warehouse manager called, she not only didn't respect my feedback, but also sounded rude. She seemed to have poor judgment, poor customer services skills, and poor problem solving skills. Positives: Great Selection. The showroom is quite large with options for every style. Prices are average. Negative: Horrific service. When we purchased our sofa we were told it would be delivered in approx. 2 weeks. 10days later they called and said it would be closer to 6. We informed the employee that called us that are sales rep quoted us with a 2 week time frame and without apology she claimed he must have lied to us. At the 5 week mark they called yet again to inform us that it would now be another 5 weeks. So finally we are at week 11 and we have received our sofa. As a long time loyal customer of the Ashley furniture homestore in Coquitlam, British Columbia, I felt the need to express my extreme disappointment with the way my family and I were treated in the store today. We went in to purchase a living room and dining room set. The last time I was in the store they had taken my email address so that I could receive updates and promotions. I had received an email about receiving 20% off my purchase. The sales associate would not honor it so I asked him to please refer the issue to his manager. The manager then approaches us, shakes our hand, and before we even said anything to him he proceeded to yell at us (literally). His exact words were "I am running a business, this is not a charity". I told him this is no way to speak to a customer and how can he imply that I am asking for charity when I am purchasing $5000 worth of furniture. He responded (again, yelling) "I say that to every single customer who walks in here. We are not a charity. That is why we are #1. This is the price I am giving you and not a penny less. If you don't like that, then I'm fine with it". He then walked away. His entire rant lasted about 4-5mins and my daughter who was with me later told me that she had managed to record about 2mins of it on her phone. I approached the manager about 10 mins later and said he should apologize for the way he attacked us. He was sitting at his desk and did not even look up at me to acknowledge me, he just continued typing on his computer. There were other customers and staff in the store who witnessed this entire incident. As we were leaving, another customer approached me and expressed his disgust at the level of disrespect the manager showed. Needless to say, I left the store without going through with my purchase and I will never be back. The manager's name is Erik Cedarblade. They called me a few days beforehand my furniture arrival date to give me some line about their warehouse moving so they couldn't give me the furniture as scheduled. They claim they didn't know the date of moving. Are you serious Ashley's. Then two days later I get a call letting me know it will be another two week delay plus a two week delay on delivery. So now my kid has no bed for another month. I can't stand furniture stores. They just want your money so bad they do anything. I specifically asked about delays and was assured that the furniture would arrive close to the date. They damn well knew they were moving when I bought it. Thieves. The furniture still isn't even in the country, I bet they ordered wrong stuff or forgot. It better arrive in good condition. Very disappointing experience at Ashley Homestore Coquitlam. I got dinning table and they delivered a table with 2 chips/dents on it. It was probably caused during the delivery or when they assembled the table at their warehouse. I immediately notified the delivery guy and he said no problem. Give store a call and they will sort it out for you. I even had the delivery guy note down the damage on the delivery receipt. I contacted Carol, Customer Manager at Coquitlam store and sent her the pictures of damage. After few back and forth, she finally agreed to sent inspector after 3 weeks to look at the damage and inspector when arrived first tried to convince me that is a wood pattern in the table. The table I ordered is plain table and has no indentation or rough surface. After we got in an argument he admitted that its a defect but he said "its Ashley's acceptable level of defect" and they are not able to do anything about it. I bought 2 years extended warranty and even with that warranty he said they would be able to fix this. Completely ridiculous customer service & their warranty is a scam. I took the delivery in good faith that they will fix the error but they completely screw me over. They delivered damaged product and now I have to live with it. Carol even threatened that if I didn't take the delivery that day, they would have still not made a refund and charged me the restocking fee even when the problem was in their product. I would suggest people to avoid these scumbags and go to other reputable stores down the street like sandy's or la-z-boy. read more

Several weeks ago I purchased a washing machine from the St James location. We were in a pinch and needed one quickly. They had one in the clearance section that seemed reasonable. It was implied that it was on sale because it was a floor model. When it arrived at my house it was labelled as DAMAGED. Since no damage had been disclosed to me I naively assumed it must be a superficial scratch from being on the show floor. We had it set up. The next day we ran it but it did not work. I called Ashley directly to discuss the issue. They would not let us speak to a manager. Twenty minutes later the sales person we dealt with called us and told us the store could do nothing for us. He, Tily, directed us to the Guest Care Service. When we spoke with Sierra at guest care they told us that since we bought an on sale item, that was the chance we took. They had no issue with the fact that they had knowingly sold us a damaged item and did not disclose the fact. They took no responsibility. Sierra was incredibly rude and condescending to us on the phone. Constantly interrupting and speaking sarcastically. Now, the service technician has come by and informed us that the motor needs to be replaced. Ashley knowingly sold us a washing machine whose motor did not work and did not disclose that fact to us. I have never been more disappointed or disgusted with my treatment here in Winnipeg. read more

We purchased a reclining leather set from Ashley a year and half ago. Within 6 months, the cushions were so soft we bottomed out. they came and replaced the foam, now 6 months later the foam is again softened. when I called, they said the warranty is 1 year and has expired so they would not doing anything further. 1 year warranty, they must use very cheap foam and know it. we paid a lot for this furniture and this is not acceptable as it is an ongoing problem. I have yet to hear back from the store manager, instead they have the customer service person call who I have already spoken with in the first place. I had the most terrible experience yesterday at Ashley HomeStore. Nemo, a salesman at the Coquitlam location was appalling to deal with. I had no issue with our experience until it came to the payment aspect. Ashley's has a financing option whereby you can buy now and pay later. Pretty typical for a furniture store. What wasn't disclosed to me was the fact that I would be signing up for an Ashley credit card in the process (including an annual service fee, statement fees etc.). Certain portions of the contract were highlighted to me, but the credit card was specifically not disclosed to me-problematic for someone in the midst of applying for a mortgage. Anyone who has applied for a mortgage in the past would know that a ding to your credit at this critical time is not ideal. I am also not someone who signs up for every store card offered. In addition, I was also told I still had to put 15% down that day-not disclosed until the very end either. I more had an issue with the credit card that I didn't agree to though. When I voiced this concern, Nemo immediately blamed me for not reading the fine print (in the 3 min he gave me to review the contract) and he was defensive and hostile. I advised him that he should disclose this material part of the contract to customers in the future. He was not receptive to this suggestion. His response was aggressive and uncalled for. He rose out of his seat in a threatening manner and again blamed me. I ultimately asked for the manager as Nemo was not capable of being rational and was being incredibly unprofessional. Altogether, Nemo ruined my experience at Ashley Furniture and he ensured that I will never shop there again. I also will be warning others about his deceitful and unprofessional sales tactics. With so many other reputable furniture stores to shop at, I wholeheartedly do not recommend making your purchase with Nemo and with Ashley HomeStore. read more

my boyfriend and i decided to try the Coquitlam location after a very poor experience at the Langley store, and i would recommend others do the same if your mind is set on an Ashley item! they have so much more selection as it is a much bigger store. we were looking for a small sectional sofa and had found one at the Langley location that we quite liked, however when we inquired further regarding the sale price they were offering, the salesman avoided answering completely, saying 'its definitely on today, next week, i dont know' - and so when i found in the fine print afterwards that the prices were good for another 3 weeks, that was the end of that; because either A} he honestly didnt know his own store's sale offers, or B} he knew and lied to try and make a quick sale- both options, to me, are really off-putting. he also really did not listen when we described what we were looking for, and didnt provide any helpful answers when we had a question. we left feeling quite irritated and did not go back! at coquitlam the sales rep who helped us - Michael - was very friendly, very willing to help, and while he couldn't answer all of our questions on the spot he did make the effort to go and find an answer, as well as providing alternatives. he also discounted the matching ottoman even further after we agreed on an extended warranty - which we had already planned on purchasing. he also sent a handwritten thank-you card a week after we purchased, which they surely do with everyone, but i still thought it was a nice touch. i was a little nervous after reading reviews on Yelp RE: delivery issues but they phoned us precisely when Michael said they would, and actually delivered 4 days earlier than the 'tentative' delivery date they had quoted. (we bought on Jan 18th, they delivered Feb 8th, quote had said 12th.) the deliverers were quite amiable, set up the couch quickly and it is so convenient that they take away all the mess! we love our new couch, not to mention the great deal we got on it!! read more

These guys are brutal. Once they've made the sale don't expect any customer service. I left messages for 3 different managers with regards to an issue with my purchase and delivery. Not one called me back. So much competition out there. Do yourself a favour and go to a place where they might actually care. read more

ashley's is very-very unprofessional in maintaining their delivery committments. the store takes 50% money in advance while one places the order and state that one week before the delivery they will need the rest 50% of the payment. they have also taken the final 50% payment from me on may 21 and i was supposed to receive the delivery by may 29. however on 29 they delivered me some of the furniture and for the rest of the major itmes they said that it will be delivered on june 3 then they postponed it to june 9th and then again they postponed it to june 12 and today upon my enquiry they are saying it will be delivered on june 19 as their delivery people are very busy. when we tell the receptionist she says i don't deal with the delivery issues. when i discussed with the salesman (mr. nemo) he said well deliveries are beyond my control. which means none of the office staff is responsible at all. i have their voice mails saved about the delivery dates but upon talking to their office they ask you to refer the contract. dealing with ashleys is really frustrating and sickening. i would strongly recommend to buy furniture from some other dealers than ashleys. they are very much unreliable about their delivery commitments. read more
