    First let me state that I usually don't leave 1-star reviews, in fact of all the reviews I've left…read moreon Yelp I've only given three total 1-star reviews. It takes a lot for me to give a bad review as I am a big believer in supporting small businesses. I wanted to try Studio One Eleven because of all the 5-star reviews I saw on Yelp. I was really looking forward to seeing what all the hype was about. I showed up today at 10:15 am (blocked out a couple hours from work) and Raquel was with another customer, turns out I made an appointment for the wrong day. The first red flag came up with how rude she was to me when I thought it was a tech error with the booking system, her response verbatim was "well obviously it was your user error because the system says the appointment is for next week." I was pretty turned off at that point, but luckily she had a customer who eased the awkwardness and called out it happened to him last week. She made things a little better by offering me a 7:15pm spot if I wanted it. Since I am in desperate need of a haircut I took it, but I normally would've just passed and found another spot to try, because I think it's VERY important to have good rapport with your stylist...you're in a chair for 30+ min, it will be awkward to have someone you think is rude touching your hair and giving them control of your appearance. I came back at 7:00pm for my appointment and the building door has a note instructing customers to call their stylist to let them in the building due to COVID protocols. I call Raquel and it goes straight to voicemail. I call her again because maybe it was a connection error and same thing. I give it a couple of min and email her thinking she might be with a customer and can't get to her phone. It is now 7:10pm and I'm a little worried that maybe she forgot. I call her one last time to see if I can get through, NOTHING straight to voicemail. I start walking to my car and she texts me "with a customer, text me". As I begin texting her back she calls me and says in probably one of the rudest tones I've heard in a while "hey stop blowing up my phone I'm with a customer. Don't you know I cut hair for a living and can't pick up when I'm taking care of someone?". As a new customer I just couldn't believe someone would be so rude to not even have the decency or common sense to simply politely ask me to wait and let me know that she'll be out shortly to open the front door. Customer service is so important and it seems to be a lost art for Raquel and Studio One Eleven. I can't comment on the skill she may have as a stylist, but I certainly wouldn't trust someone cutting my hair with her rude attitude and approach to communication with her customers....after all with a rocky start I wouldn't trust people who don't like me with sharp objects near my face. Raquel, if you are reading this, I hope you were just having a bad day and it's not a reflection of who you are as a professional. Your communication and ability to empathize with customers is poor at best. I hope this review doesn't stunt your business in any way, but shines a light on how you treat people as you are in a services business. Anyone considering this hair salon should ask themselves how much they value customer service and good conversation with their hair stylist...I certainly do and wouldn't want to sit in a chair for 30+ min talking to someone who clearly has no time for me or cares about what I think. Response to comment below: as you can see from the owner's response the "bs is not my jam" personality trait gives her the audacity to be rude. I apologize for the following: 1) being early to an appointment, what an inconvenience 2) Not knowing how to get into a building or where to go for being a first time customer 3) Being SOOO inconsiderate and self centered that I'd give someone who was rude to me from the jump a 2nd chance because although she was rude she did make an effort to make it right, so why nit give someone the benefit of the doubt, guess that's a self-centered trait. I guess in Raquel's eyes I should thank her for allowing me to give her my business. Like I said in my OG review. Anyone who values someone with an actual sense for service who doesn't come off self entitled should reconsider going to this shop. But give it a try hopefully you don't have the same experience as me.
