I had a 5:00 PM appointment on Saturday 12/27/25 with Egan at Eddie's Edition: The Row (DTLA). I arrived slightly late due to traffic on the 101, but within the 10-minute grace period stated on the website, which is important. Location: The space is very small, yet when I arrived the stylist was nowhere to be found. I parked directly in front, checked in, and was told to have a seat because he'd be "right back." After waiting close to 10 minutes, I messaged him through the booking portal: "Hey, I arrived about 10 minutes ago." Stylist: When he returned, he walked right past me. No greeting. His energy felt tense. He said he thought I was a no-show and appeared visibly annoyed. I apologized and tried to keep things cordial, as it was our first appointment together. I showed reference photos directly from Eddie's Edition's website under his own profile, assuming these were examples of his work. I pointed to a specific style, and he suggested doing a skin fade to achieve the look. Despite my 5:00 PM booking, he didn't start cutting my hair until around 5:30 PM. There was no hair wash before or after (Danny usually does both). I tapped my card at 6:06 PM and was out the door by 6:07 PM. Since I was parked directly in front, I observed the stylist immediately greet his next client warmly and wash their hair before starting. ‍ Haircut: The recommended skin fade was uneven and only partially executed. The lower right side of my nape was shaved noticeably closer than the rest. He went over this area repeatedly, yet the imbalance remained. The sides and back lacked consistency, and although I asked that my hair not cover my ears, hair was left over my left ear but not the right. The result felt rushed. Pricing: At the time of booking, the Eddie's Edition website listed a men's haircut with this stylist at $40. I was charged $55 at checkout, with no discussion or explanation. Service: I don't need constant conversation during a haircut. Silence isn't the issue. The issue was the persistent tension from the moment the stylist arrived, as if my appointment was an inconvenience despite being scheduled properly and within policy. After reflecting on this visit and past experiences, I realized this was not an isolated incident. While technical skill here can be solid, the overall energy at this shop has increasingly felt unwelcoming and elitist, which eventually discouraged me from returning. Appointments often feel rushed, and while punctuality matters, that pressure should not translate into uneven service. In a prior experience, after missing an appointment, I was contacted on my personal phone multiple times in an aggressive tone and then told via text to never book again. While I acknowledge being late or missing an appointment in the past, I was never charged a cancellation fee nor approached about one, which made enforcement feel inconsistent. UPDATE After posting this review on Google, Eddie's Edition responded stating I violated their cancellation policy and suggested I remove my review on that basis. While the policy exists during the booking process, it has not been consistently enforced in my experience. More importantly, their response did not address the haircut quality concerns outlined above and focused solely on policy. No cancellation fees, warnings, or violations were discussed with me at the time of booking or service for this appointment. They also stated there was "no record" of the $40 price. However, at the time I booked, the website listed this service at $40. After their response, I revisited the site and noticed the price has since been updated to $55. I'm sharing this to explain why the charge felt confusing. I'm adding this update for transparency. This review reflects my experience as it happened. I encourage clients to read multiple reviews and form their own impressions.

Great place to get a haircut. About $55 for a mens cut . The parking was confusing at first but was able to figure it out.

Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. If she is so experienced and so great she should have known better and know that the process she was doing would ruin my hair. This is my warning to others that are going here to have straightening done. Don't rely on her to tell you it's not right for your hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

I found Anya on Reddit and came in on a nice Sunday to get a curly cut from her. She was super comfortable doing my hair and talking to me about what I wanted, and even made suggestions that went along with what my endgame was. I essentially told her I wanted to keep my bangs and my face framing little hair tendrils, and she can do what she wanted with the rest! From there, she asked questions such as how heavy my hair feels regularly/the last time I got it cut, if I like my hair to have volume or sit the way it is and mimicked with my hair how both versions looked, made observations and suggestions on where we could go. Honestly, this was the best experience I've had! She thinned out a lot of my hair as well since it gets pretty heavy for me, gave me a nice shape and my hair more personality, and even layers on the back to make everything more cohesive! Frankie was my wash tech (is that what they're called?) and she was great to talk to about books! She was also very cautious on making sure the water was just right for my scalp. Though when we rinsed with cold water it hit soooo good hehe.

I didn't realize or forgot they have parking in front and they will even run out to pay your meter for you if needed. I just parked in the neighborhood nearby. Salon vibes are so chill and inviting. Coffee and water provided too. A no pressure vibe which I loved. No product pushing, no pressure whatsoever when describing what you are trying to get. Sometimes I'm anxious with the salon because it's a lot when it comes to finding the right blonde or just awkward conversation. Not here! She works with you so well and you immediately feel comfortable walking into the salon and through the entire interaction. And just comfortable, fun environment while you're there! This is not a high pressure sales environment. Obviously suggestions, opinions communicated etc...but the objective was not to sell me something or turn the chair over for the next client. She is 100% the doctor and the surgeon. I got exactly what | asked for. Read that again: EXACTLY what I asked for. Having experienced the accuracy of an exclusively blonde colorist, I cannot overstate that value. 3) Communication It's possible your colorist may have to interpret what you're asking for. It's possible this takes time. Cait spent time with me. She encouraged me to say more and made me feel comfortable (read: not-stupid) as I probably talked out of both sides of my mouth and stumbled through my wants, needs, pictures, let-downs, etc. Look, I don't care who's hair you've colored, or "red carpet" this, "social media following" that blah blee blah. All of your skill and knowledge and experience is lost on me if: I'm intimidated You have one eye on the clock for our entire consult You're annoyed with my inability to articulate Couple the thorough communication with the technical capability and B/B is in a whole other league, entirely. Caitlin, you should be really proud of this business. Ok. SO: I hesitate to comment on/share price and service-time because every blonde really is unique BUT since that's probably the info you're looking for, I'll say this: Re price: Not inexpensive ALTHOUGH more than fair (even before you consider comps at other salons) Re time: It takes as long as it takes. Dunno what else to say about that one. Its bleach, people. Maybe don't rush it? TL;DR? Um, "best". You get what you pay for. Proceed with confidence (and enthusiasm!) srsly though?
