I don't care to write reviews because I feel that everyone has their days but this one I had to write about. This is a long review Be careful going to the Ashley store in Vernon Hills. I was wrongly mistreated. I was trying to take catch their Bogo deal before it ended. The day the deal was suppose to be over I had errands. I checked their hours, online..said they were open til midnight, umm ok we know that's not trues. So I made sure I got there before 9pm. Arrived at the store at 8:30pm, stores hours posted were closing at 9pm. But the doors were locked. Locked 1/2hr before closing. The employee in the store, was closing a sale. The customer he was with showed him that we were at the door. He saw myself at the door, as I held up the flyer for bogo asking to come in to make a purchase. He looked up, shook his head in dismay and continued on helping his customer. Did he open the door ... nope. Did he at least say I'm sorry come back tomorrow I closed early... nope. Did he give some kind of respect that people should get if closing a store early ... NOPE! Just plane disrespect. I stayed til he finished his sale.. was hoping he would acknowledge or something. NOPE!! he kept his head down as if I didn't exist. Such disrespect especially since I wanted to purchase a few items. You might think... what nationality are you. That doesn't matter. Treat customers with respect!! I came back the next day... complained and found out the employee who treated me with such disrespect was the store manager. THE STORE MANAGER who goes by the name Taj. I was second guessing giving Ashley my money. Why would I want to give my hard earned money to a company who disrespects you and acts as if you don't exist. But a pleasant manager of the company named Carlos helped me out. He was very helpful. Heard and listened to my concerns. He wanted to make sure I would be happy with my purchase if I decided to purchase from them. Because I told them I am second guessing giving Ashley my money. I did end up purchasing a few pieces. Taj does not deserve to be the store manager. My money is just as good as the money that he was closing. Just as good or even better. Without him knowing he treated me with disrespect. Even if you were treated with respect by Taj, knowing that he has the capability to treat others with such disrespect he should not get commission off of you, or have anyone else service. Thank Carlos for all your help. Carlos is the guy to ask for. He was very helpful in so many ways. Taj, you are a sad excuse of a store manager. I don't know how you got to that level with showing such lack of experience, disrespect and rudeness. Sorry Ashley Furniture but you need to pick better store Managers. We have been here since 230pm, nobody even greets us, we stood next to two workers that didnt even acknowledge us so we walked around a little bit then sat on the couch for 20 minutes some guy just walked past us and looked at us and now some guy just walked in and they went to help them right away. I feel it is because we are not of the same color. Seriously i feel that someone should see this happen on the 5th of March it is really crazy and i feel discriminated against. Don't buy anything from Ashley they are lying on delivery dates. I just spent thousands of dollars on furniture because they had sooner delivery dates than their competitors but it is all fake. Once you buy the furniture they will delay delivering dates. For us it was Sep 22 then Oct 2 then Oct 20 and some items even scheduled for Nov 19th!!!! Even worst, we were expecting (and they confirmed) 10 items to be delivered Today and they just delivered 2 out of the 10!!! by the way terrible customer service. Ordered a couch that was set to be delivered 8-10 weeks. Never received any communication. Called customer service and they said the couch was ready & would be delivered/that we should be expecting a call to schedule delivery. Never received a call. Ordered my furniture on September 3rd 2020 with a estimated delivery date on September 29th 2020. The papers we got with our purchase promised that we would receive updates about our delivery pretty often. But let me tell you TILL THIS DAY nov 21, I have not received a call from them without me emailing them complaining. They pushed back the delivery date countless times, it's impossible to get a hold of anyone there via phone call, and they straight up keep lying to me everytime I do talk to them. Please be careful when you purchase anything from Ashley. I bought a leather couch and the leather on the back part was bad and the color partly faded. I called to explain this to them and they said they will only cover if it was cut or burned but not if it was naturally accuring. Not single employee could explain that policy to me! Makes no sense that if my sofa were to have been burned its covered but if its part of a manufacturing error its not. read more

Staff at the store were very nice and were helpful with answering our questions but that's where the help ends. They were very nice and pleasant and patient. Wait times much longer than initially reported (I understand they are estimates but 3x the estimated time is insulting and clearly a function of a poorly organized company that can't even estimate its inventory). When we did receive a partial shipment, the items were damaged. One item clearly had been attempted to be repaired with glue and then was delivered to us despite very clearly being damaged and the delivery team deliberately placed it in our house in a way that the damage was against a wall despite it being on the front of the item. The other items in the shipment had photos taken for evidence of delivery. The damaged piece did not. I wonder why Customer service has been horrible to work with. Every time I call I am on hold for minimum 15 minutes and then promised resolution that has yet to materialize. Don't order from this company. It will be months til you receive anything and it's likely to be damaged. Edit: I contacted the email address as below and have yet to here back. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered a dining table and chairs, a sectional sofa and a bed, frame and mattress. I paid for delivery and set up/"White glove service." First, they were supposed to deliver the sofa and bed on April 29, so I called 2 days beforehand to verify. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes, I was told that the delivery would be on May 4th. This is a second home, so I had arranged other contractors to be there on the 29th. It meant I had to make a second trip. Then, they delivered a slightly damaged section of sofa (beige), bed, frame and headboard, but no hardware to attach the headboard to the frame. The delivery guy got on the phone with a supervisor told me that they would call me to schedule delivery of a new section, and setup the bed frame, but I didn't hear anything for 2 weeks, so I went into the store. They looked it up. No notes. Then they scheduled delivery and set up of the headboard on June 17 (the original delivery guys assembled the headboard, but left it in a psotion where I had to move it. It immediately fell apart and the screws ripped out. They agreed to replace it). They delivered the boxed headboard, but refused to set it up. When I opened the box there was no hardware to actually attach the headboard to the frame. I already had delivery of the table and chairs scheduled for June 24th, so I called and talked to an agent who assurred me that the delivery guys would set up the headboard and attach it when they delivered the dining table and the replacement wedge for the sectional. Well, on June 24th they delivered a blue wedge, not beige, so that immediately went back the truck. Then they partially set up the dining table. But the crew chief said they were no supposed to set up the headboard. He called a supervisor who told me another crew was supposed to do that. I told her that was ridiculous; that they were here, I had purchased nuts and bolts in case they didn't, again, bring the hardware, and I did not think I should have to spend more money and time driving back to get this done. She asked me to put the crew chief back on the phone. He and his worker walked out of the room, got in their truck and drove off. Ghosted by Ashley's delivery team!!! So, I was left with no replacement wedge, a partially set up table and a headboard in a box with no hardware (other than what I had purchased) to attach it to the bed frame. If you ever try to call and talk to a live agent you can expect to wait on hold from 10 minutes to 40. Often, your call will simply disconnect. The saga continues, but you get the drift. I have probably spent 5 hours on the phone, usually on hold. Speaking to a representative is of little use, because, as I have explained, something gets lost in the translation. I have traveled the 200 miles roundtrip twice to have the delivery screwed up. I have received some credit back to my card, but so far, not as much as has been promised. Even so, that has not nearly compensated me for the time, gas money and aggravation. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! read more

Every single person that works at this location from the sales rep, to the "managers", to the "escalation team" in the "war room" has HORRIBLE customer service. lies, lies, lies. I was promised 3 delivery dates, then promised a partial delivery date "to make things right" and still no delivery. No calls when these so called " confirmed delivery dates" are missed and offered every excuse in the book when I reach out to them to ask about it. Well, I ordered over 3k of products and paid in full in early March and after failed promise after promise, and after getting rid of my current couch after the first promise and being now 39 weeks pregnant with no couch to sit on, yeah my patience is very limited with all of the rude staff who says they will call me back but never actually does so. We ordered a bunk bed on August 14th. We received a partial delivery (no rails) on September 18. After several weeks of phone calls, we found out (after finally talking to someone helpful) that the rails are a separate order and were never ordered. After several more phone calls and different people, I get the same instructions which are to go into the store and have them order the rails. We have gone in 3 times and talked to them on the phone 4 or 5 times. Trisha at the store tells me I need to wait and she will send someone out to put the bed together. There is no way that there are rails for this bed here, the first delivery guys said they could not put it together because it didn't have rails. The numerous people on the phone said there was no order for the rails so they can't do anything till we order them. Trisha insists that the techs who come to put the bed together will have rails and everything they need. Everyone on the phone with customer service says that that's not possible because they have not been ordered. Trisha at the store refuses to get us in touch with a manager, she says it's handled and fine. We need to wait. I find it unacceptable to ask us to sit here and wait another week and a half to have someone come to my home to tell me they can't put the bed together because there are no rails, and wait till that time, 2 months after purchase, to place an order to complete the bed. read more

I shop at Ashley all the time to decorate our Airbnb's! Their style is current and very trendy without the expensive prices. They usually have 0% financing as well if you want to pay for your furniture over three, four, five years. My sales guy left the company but the manager recognizes me by name and always greets me at the door with a smile! They take good care of me every time I come. Such great customer service! read more

Call there direct store phone number hit extension 3 and when no one ever answers you will understand. They never pick up the phone had to drive back to cancel now they are charging us 10% cancel fee for merchandise they never delivered nor had in stock. 3 times they were supposed to deliver merchandise to us amd never did the corporate 800 number will direct you back to the store. Let's start off with the fact that they do not answer their phones, and when you finally get someone on the phone, they can't help and you have to wait for a "call back," which never happens. Next, I was encouraged to buy the extended 5 year warranty for my sectional because "you can basically get a whole new couch if you request it before the five years is up." GREAT! Sign me up! Well, it's been 8 months since our couch was delivered and it looks like TRASH. It is incredibly uncomfortable to sit in, and the fabric is falling apart. I reach out to Ashley and the response I get is "You are too close to the warranty date for us to do anything about it." Hm... I am 4 months away from my 1 year manufacturing warranty and 4 years and 4 months away from the extended warranty I purchased... So why can't my couch be damaged out? I purchased a dining room set with eight chairs and a buffet. After 2.5 years I had to use the extended "warranty" that I purchased. They refused to fix the scratch because the table is delaminating. They told me that Ashley should not have sold this coverage to me as a warranty but rather insurance for accidents ONLY. They approved for the table to be replaced. Ashley came back and said that the table had been discontinued. So Guardian the warranty company tells me take the $400 and buy a different table. Both Guardian and Ashley expect me to have a table that does not match my buffet and eight dining chairs. A year and half later still the same BS. If you call Ashely " corporate " you are only able to speak customer service reps that can't do anything for you. Ask to speak to upper management and some will tell you that someone will get back to you and no one ever calls others will tell you there is nobody else to talk to you. And a local store Vernon Hills nobody there will even call me back. They do not stand behind their furniture and they definitely do NOT care about their customers. How in the world do you expect somebody to have a formal dining room? With a mismatch table chairs and buffet that is just beyond ridiculous. Communicates with me today and says oops I'm sorry your delivery is pushed back another week. The management and execution of this place is absolutely pathetic. We ordered two dressers from the store in Vernon Hills, IL and they were delivered completely destroyed. After being re-directed to representative to representative and hotline to hotline the only solution they provided was to exchange the items for new dressers. The second set of dressers also came beaten up and destroyed. Not usable at all. Working with Tricia at the store in Vernon Hills has been the worst customer service experience I've ever seen. We purchased set of sofa from the store and it was delivered in very bad condition and quality of the piece is unacceptable. We asked delivery people to take it back, instead, they started fixing it in front of us by hammering broken piece in. They refused to take it back and told us that customer service will contact us. No one called us for about a week until we contacted the office. Customer service told us that they will not accept the return because we signed some kind of papers that item cannot be returned. No one explained this draconian policy to us at the store which was hidden somewhere in small font in the papers. We explained to the store that item was still in their possesion when delivered but they still refused the return repeting the same things again and again. My wife and I bought a couch here. When it was delivered, one leg didn't fit on the couch. First they sent me more of the same legs, that also didn't fit. Then after being told that a service order would be opened up on my behalf, I waiting almost a week and a half before getting fed up and calling myself on the status of my case. I was told a technician would reach out to me that day to schedule maintenance on the couch. Again, I had to continue to call to ask when we would get our couch fixed. After almost a week I received an automated message to schedule the maintenance. They could not come out to fix the couch for almost a month. When a technician finally came out to look at the couch, he couldn't fix it. All because of the three size where the leg screws in. It's been incredibly frustrating and over a month of living in our new home, we still don't have a functional couch. We paid 2k for this couch. I DO NOT recommend Ashley Furniture. Another story of poor customer service. I went in to purchase a living room set. I was deciding between two different sets and decided to go with the one that had a sleeper sofa displayed. I specifically remember telling the sales lady that I wanted the sleeper sofa because my house only has 1 spare bedroom, so the sleeper sofa would be nice to have. (Unknown to me at the time, both models could be ordered with the sleeper sofa. The sales lady didn't tell me that) Anyways, I paid for the set that day on my credit card and scheduled the delivery. The delivery came and I thought everything was just great. Fast forward to 2 weeks later. I go to put sheets on my sleeper sofa and I discover that it is not a sleeper sofa, but just a regular one! I didn't think to double check that the sales lady ordered the sleeper model because I made that pretty clear to her, right? Well unfortunately the paperwork showed I had ordered a regular sofa, and that is what I got delivered. Now the fun begins. I called the store and explained to them, "Hey I'm sorry but I was sold me the wrong sofa model. I wanted the sleeper and you sold me the non-sleeper. Can this be fixed?" Their response, "Nope sorry, you got what you ordered. Bye Felecia!!" So my next action was to email corporate customer service. I sent them 1 email, waited 2 days, and no response. I sent them another email, waited a few more days, and still didn't get a response. Now I'm really getting mad, but I decided to keep my cool and go visit the store in person. Here's how that conversation went: Me: "Hi, I was accidentally sold the wrong sofa model. I wanted the sleeper sofa, but I was accidentally sold the non-sleeper. The sofa has been in my house for only 3 weeks, I don't have pets, and it's still brand new. Can I exchange my sofa for the sleeper model? I'm willing to pay the difference in price between the two, and I have my own truck available that I can make the swap myself right now. Or if you prefer, I can pay to have your delivery service make the swap. I think this is a fair compromise since a mistake was made on both our ends and this would be fantastic customer service. Not to mention you don't have a return or exchange policy listed anywhere. Not in your store, not on your website, and not on the paperwork. So I think the fair thing to do would be to make the exchange." Them: "Lol, no. Go screw yourself. You were sold what was on the paperwork. And I don't believe your story. So since the sale is final and we don't have a return policy, you're stuck. But it's not our problem." Here's where the story gets good. I decided to fight a portion of the charge with my credit card company. I called Bank of America up, explain the whole situation and said I don't believe I owe them the portion for the sofa since a mistake was made. The bank then took the money out of Ashley's account while they investigated the charge. Eventually I got a phone call from Ashley saying "why are you disputing this charge?" So I explained the whole situation again and finally I got some good customer service!! The lady from Ashley said "ok, we will make the sofa exchange if you give us the money back." Phew!!! Long story short is Ashley will only give good customer service when money is being ripped out of their account by a credit card company. Lol. Our experience from START to finish has been one of deceit, to lying, to irresponsibility with this company. Do NOT try to save yourself money at this store: stay AWAY AND PURCHASE ELSEWHERE. They will eventually go out of business with replication of what they did to us. First, we came in bc of the Labor Day sales ad. The price was CLEARLY marked on the Ad we had, but not in store. The man tried TWICE to overcharge us by HUNDREDS, until we revealed the ad. Second, the delivery charge was $129, no exceptions to pick our own furniture up. The two men who delivered, were never trained in moving furniture. My husband worked for a moving company for 6 yrs, yes, you need training for angles and measurements). These guys were SHOVING with all their might. They finally suggested to put the couch THRU the window, nearly RUINING A $1,000 window! Then, they got the couch down the stairs, punching holes in our walls, scraping the corners down to the metal! Sending pictures crashing to the ground, hitting lights fixtures, etc. A nightmare! They finally brought the couch back up to the kitchen, we told them we had ENOUGH OF THEIR DAMAGE, and sent them out! And, the horrible thing? He told CORPORATE I DID THE DAMAGE, a woman! I'm disabled, with a SPINAL INJURY AND CAN'T LIFT OVER 10lbs. How did the hole/damage get up the wall 6 ft? I never picked the couch up! Corporate said if I want this fixed, I need to 'prove' that they did it...um, do you really think I'd do that to my own house??!! My husband and son brought the couch down after waiting DAYS of waiting for them to send someone else, no injury to the home, WE SET IT UP. I told them, even before reading the comments on Yelp, 'from the way you are speaking to me right now, I can tell you this isn't the first time this has happened and you've done this to others.' I was right on. Ashley Furniture is NOT customer friendly. This was one of the WORST SITUATIONS with a company we've been forced to deal with. They've made NO ATTEMPT to help us as far as moving the couch. We waited and they never called, never sent anyone. Save yourself the headache: don't purchase from this company! They don't CARE. I was really overwhelmed with the service and the expertise of Captain Morgan(aka Stew) as they calm him. He took the time to show me several different selections while giving me full details on all the items we looked. I was in and out of the store in less than 1 hour with my pockets lighter but the smile of satisfaction from ear to ear. The website says Black Linen bed, and, after paying someone to carry it up my stairs due to my medical challenges(rods, screws, cage in back) turns out, it was a waste of my money. Dear God, this Ashely has horrible customer service! Actually, my experience with all facets of Ashley has been exceptionally unexceptional. Yet...like an idiot, I still deigned to make a purchase. Quick summary: in July, I purchased a chaise for a new apartment that was supposed to be delivered today. One week ago, the delivery department texted to confirm delivery for my chaise at my previous address. I promptly called them back and after some back and forth, the correct address was updated. Fast FFD to 2 days ago. I received a text confirming delivery to my current address for a 4 hour time slot. Great! No problem. I'll make sure I'm available and that the time is cleared with my apartment in order for me to use the service entrance. Yesterday MORNING AS I'M MOVING, I receive a voice mail telling me that my time slot has been changed. Well, no sis. That doesn't work for me. You specified a time, and I made myself available and scheduled appointments around that time. I called the delivery department 3 times, each time waiting no less than 20 min to actually speak to someone. When that failed, I contacted Ashley Home Store hoping that they could help. Surely they'd want to help their customer receive an item that has been bought and paid for. Right? Yeah. No. They were rude, inconsiderate and not interested in coming up with a solution. One associate actually stated that I should have told them that I had to ask my apartment for a time slot, insinuating that this conundrum was my fault... Whahhhhh in the actual...?! You give me a delivery time. I accommodate that time. You contact me a you as I'M MOVING and then have the audacity to BLAME me? Give ME MY MONEY BACK! The one overwhelming positive is that when I asked for a full refund, they were very accommodating. I've had 2 different associates ask me how I would like to receive my refund. read more

I was helped by Annette at the store. She is very knowledgeable about the mattresses and also, understands what customer wants. She helped us find the right furniture for our living room. She told us about the on going offers and tried her best to give us the best pricing on the furniture. The store has a lot of options and I didn't had issues finding the right thing for me. The number that was given to "escalate" was a generic number. They did set up the exchange for the damaged goods, however they self scheduled themselves and we just had to figure out how we were supposed to be home within the 3 hour window that they set up two days before they came to our house. The time frames are usually during the day time where most people would be working. The first time that we were scheduled, no one showed up. The number listed on the page to contact regarding the delivery kept hanging up on me and mind you I worked 7p-7a the night before and was staying up waiting for the exchange. The second time, the guys just left with a piece that was more damaged than the one we have and the second piece was not even on the truck! Waste of time! This is how this company think of their customers I guess! We were promised a check for the damage of our house....have not seen that check either! And to correct my first post, our order was placed in March. We are going into June with the same problems! Ridiculous! read more

I will never step foot in any Ashley Furniture store again. My experience has been a complete nightmare. I had to move my mother into into a new living situation and needed furniture for her. I bought a recliner and daybed. The set-up and delivery people came and did not come with the correct parts and did not bother to set up the bed. They came a second time and still did not have the correct parts needed to set up the bed. My mother has been without a bed for an entire week. This is totally unacceptable. Stay away from this organization as there are plenty of other furniture stores to purchase from. read more

I'm torn about this review. No, not torn like some of the older furniture here. No, not torn like Natalie Imbruglia. Torn because we ended up buying a cute little kitchen table for $100, but had to fill out all kinds of paperwork and stand at the register for 20 minutes while the woman decided she was going to "learn on the job" how to process a payment. It was a standard transaction. Ashley was using her debit card to purchase a cute little table and a cashmere throw (I just lost a little testosterone in that last sentence). We were not financing anything, nor were we filling out an application for the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. It shouldn't have taken this long. The computers kept messing up, the debit/credit card machine wasn't working, the woman BARELY SPOKE ENGLISH!!! It went on and on. I whispered to Ashley "lets just leave" numerous times, because I'd rather complain and pout privately to my girlfriend than ask a simple "is all of this necessary?" to a store employee. Ashley Furniture has some nice stuff, and we will be back to shop when we are going to make a bigger purchase, I just hope the furniture we purchase in the future isn't out of style by the time we get our receipt. read more

Absolutely abysmal customer services. Was promised my couch by Tony in 2 weeks, even with COVID circumstances, because he said it was the last one in the warehouse and is ready to go. Only reason I bought the couch was because he looked me in the eye and told me it was there and delivery would be two weeks. It's two months later and it's still not in the warehouse. He was not returned any of my calls over the last three weeks, he has not responded to my emails. Nor has the sales manager. I don't live in the area so I cannot just go to the store. They play games with answering the phone, I was put on hold today by Marcel while he "looked up my order" for over an hour before I used another phone to call and ask for him. He made up an excuse. The call center workers are lovely, Trish was very helpful from the store, but other than that this customer service is awful. Do not recommend and will never use again. read more

Literally dumbfounded by the lack of assistance received by Ashley furniture store and online. I ordered two black nightstands that came in poor condition with smudges all over them that would not pledge out and just quality of craftsmanship. I wanted to return or exchange at the home store in Vernon hills and was immediately confronted by a man that said who said "who told you you could return these?" Seriously? I thought he was joking...he wasn't These were never disclosed as final sale. Then I was rudely told by the store customer service lady they wouldn't help me in any way and to call online. online is making me submit about dozen pictures and ridiculous imformation just to get my "request reviewed"! Are you kidding me!? They are nightstands ! You can return a car for crying out loud! Oh and to top that off I can not even respond to the online store's request nor is there a return email address, phone number or anything resembling a professional business correspondences! I really have difficulty giving this location of Ashley Furniture (Vernon Hills, IL) even one Star. My wife and I just left this location looking to buy a dresser. The salesman who greeted us asked us what we were looking for ant he said that they were all over the store and that we should look at the sign for the price and then take 20% off, he then disappeared. When we went to the service counter to ask a question he was called back over and walked up over to the piece that we were looking at and the simply disappeared again. I could understand if the store was busy and he was helping several customers at a time but that was not the case. As we walked out of the store for the last time never to return again the greeter at the front door who was on her cellphone hardly gave us a second glance. Horrible experience! read more
