SALESPERSON WASN'T HAVING HIS BEST DAY... So.. I bought a couch from the same salesperson a couple of months earlier and it's was a pleasant experience. So when I returned to the store to browse for dining chairs to my custom made table I was assuming this to be a similar experience. It was not. Granted, none of the chairs in the store worked for the table color-wise, I was starting to think that maybe if I went with a chair that I liked shape-wise, i could maybe refinish it to achieve the look / color scheme (provided the chair was solid wood and not a veneer). When I asked the salesperson if a particular chair was indeed a solid wood chair (cause I was considering maybe refinishing it in a different color as I liked the shape of it and it was super heavy) he basically straightaway descended into "well I can't tell u if you can refinish it or not I'm not a specialist". Duh... This reaction amused me at first - obv I was not asking his advice on whether or not I should refinish the chair. I was simply asking if it was made of solid wood (since the description provided in store wasn't mentioning anything about the origin of the chair or its material). Normally it's easy to tell solid wood from veneer but this chair was very heavy and the back was curved and seemed to be cut from one piece of wood yet it was cheap - so naturally I had my doubts and wanted to find out. Surely that's not a crazy question to ask a salesperson of a store selling the chairs?? He did look it up for me (finally) on his magic tablet after being clearly annoyed at me for asking. He pulled up a description that stated it was a combo of solids and veneer. Which is fair enough. But then he added "well it's not like I have the time to dissect a $125 chair". WOW. So he was all "best friend vibes" when I was buying a pricey couch but not so much when I was interested in a $125 dining chair (which, to its credit, was looking way more expensive and substantial than the price would suggest). I don't know if he had some sort of personal issue today (I mean - nobody LOVES working Sundays) but I can tell u that being "scolded" in front of other customers was not on my bingo card this morning when i ventured to the store to check some chairs. Obv this is not something earth-shattering and I'm sure he's very nice on the other 364 days but I think he'd temporarily forgotten that his actual job as a salesman is to answer questions about the products displayed in store. I understand customers are annoying but that's the name of the game if you are in retail. I didn't any to be looking for chairs either on a Sunday but here we all are hehe. I hope he reads this review and learns from it. This kind of attitude is just bad for business (me thinks). He could have sold me a bunch of stuff today had he remembered an old saying that goes something like this: "you get more with honey than with vinegar". Have a blessed Sunday y'all! read more

We owned an Ashley sofa for 17 yrs. There was nothing wrong with it. Because of its durability and comfort. We decided to get a sectional for more space. The first one caused severe back pain so it was traded in. The second one we have had less than 3 years and are now in the process of having to spend $800 to have the cushions replaced. We will never buy from them again. Right now we would rather sit on our patio furniture which is more comfortable. So much that we have taken the cushions and laid them on top to tie us over until the cushions are replaced in a couple of weeks. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with your company and will be sharing my experience on every social media platform I can. Your warranty policies continue to be misleading and unhelpful. I regret ever purchasing a warranty, as it has proven to be a complete waste of both time and money. Now I'm being told that stains are not considered damage and that my warranty doesn't cover them--even though that was never made clear to me at the time of purchase. That response is completely unacceptable. I will not be purchasing anything from your company again and will be canceling my City Furniture card. I will also be warning others to think twice before buying from your store. My experiences with your warranty department have consistently been frustrating and unproductive, and the in-store service isn't any better--no one ever seems able or willing to help. I have bought furniture in different stores, and I usually would take the insurance if anything should happen. But I got burned by rooms to go. They would not fix my couch when it broke told me it was wear normal wear and tear I bought. So when I bought my at Ashley's, I was not going to buy the insurance Protection insurance, the sales person told me that they would not like rooms to go and they fix everything. I still said no, and the manager came and he told me under any circumstances they would replace or fix my item. Two months after I bought it, the spring came out in the back of the chair, I called repair and they sent out Man. He said that that's the way it's made and there's nothing I can do about it sorry but that's all he said told him I can't sit in the chair. It's pushing on my back again. He said sorry from the store. They called me and told me that's the way the man manufacturer made this chair not their fault. I told them it was not fair because I couldn't sit in the chair and again they said sorry and then they hung up on me. It is so sad. They promise you things but never come through. Purchased over $8000 of furnishing for a new home in June. As of this date, November, we are still sleeping with our mattress on the floor. We have waited for the slats for our bed to be delivered 3 times each time the service person said they were there to install the slats but came with no slats. We are not available to receive the slats all the time but they are unwilling to meet our schedule now. Don't do business here. After this review I was contacted by the business manager. Chairs were delivered on August 29th and one was missing all the hardware for assembly so I submitted a claim as instructed and was originally told the parts would be delivered 10/31/23, then delayed until 11/30/23 and now it's January 2024 and still no hardware. read more

A warning when going shopping here. The sale signs are very misleading I bought an outside table and four chairs only the chairs on display, two of them were not the chairs that come with it Of course this raised the price quite a bit. Then they talk you into a three-year stain removal kit also in-home service, now the price is much higher I have to wait for three deliveries to get different parts of the table and chairs and cushions on different days. My last delivery will be in January of next year which will complete the table after the holidays I should Have looked at an Ace Hardware or Lowe's that I can pick up or have it delivered in full on one day. read more

WARNING!!! DO NOT shop at City Furniture. DO NOT fall victim to this Fraudulent business. We have received 4 of 5 damaged piece of furniture in the past couple months from them. The concerning factor is the packaging was not damaged at all. One piece in particular looked as if it was dropped on a corner and broken beyond repair although it was packaged very securely. Upon further inspection, the piece looks as if it was refinished with a much darker paint than it is supposed to be. When opening the drawer it is apparent there are two different colors from the face of the piece and the inside of the drawer. We reached out to City Furniture about this issue and they forwarded me to a customer service representative that informed me they do not have a return policy and they can only send a replacement that is not available for 3 months or we can select something else in stock. The next piece I unboxed was better structurally but the finish was much worse and interestingly had dust covering the legs. Again, the packaging was immaculate. There were parts that had previous damage that were attempted to repair. One side casing had some large bubbles. For this piece City Furniture initially wanted to send out a technician to repair the table but when you purchase new furniture, you expect to actually have new furniture and the eventually agree to send out a replacement. Upon unboxing the replacement it was the same story all over again and I refused to accept it from the delivery driver. This company is selling refurbished and damaged goods for the price of new and are trapping their customers by not allowing returns offering store credit or attempting to repair the damages. What kind of retail store does not have a return policy, especially on damaged goods? This is fraud. I know times are hard but after reading more of the previous reviews on Yelp, it seem that this has been going on for some time now. This is not an honest business. Someone will reply to this review from City by copying and pasting the same response from the other bad reviews attempting to resolve this but nothing will happen and it will continue to happen to others. Again, DO NOT fall victim to this Fraudulent business. Upon typing this review, we received a phone call from City Furniture specifically stating that a refund cannot be made. We paid for "premium delivery" and items were broken. Spoke to customer care, was told items were on back order, was given a 6 digit number for my replacement on March 11, 2022 with a delivery date of May 30th, 2022. Ordered a bed on 12/8. We were told we would receive a part of it about 12/22. Anther part would be in Feb and they aren't sure when we would receive the rest. We called a cancelled on 12/15 and they said we would receive credit back. Have made several calls and emails with no response. Called the credit card company and disputed it today. It is now 12/28 with no response. Left two message with the person that sold it to us . Her name is Gio. I highly recommend to go somewhere else anywhere else. You've got to be kidding me. Seven try's to contact you with no response and you want us to try again when you already have our email address and phone number. You're pathetic. We'll let the credit card company fix it. We just recently purchased a full house of furniture. 3bedrooms, living room and dining room. Not to mention everything in between. We were very frazzled from a total gut rehab of our home. We were greeted at the front door by the lovely smile of the most attentive and intuitive young woman ever. Her name was Lauren. We furnished our whole home in under an hour. Lauren explained how to lock in our delivery date and how to change it if it became necessary due to the rehab. She kept me informed every step of the way to delivery. Upon delivery there was a damaged end table but it was promptly replaced in under a week. Lauren even followed up on that. The quality of our furniture seems to be quite good, but the quality of the service is what will bring us back. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. My family recently purchased a new home and bought a new living room set and beds from this Ashley location. My parents spoke to several store associates who promised delivery multiple times throughout the week, and the furniture has yet to show up. We had family coming in from out of town, with no beds to sleep on. We even had to book a hotel room. We are on yet another promised time window for delivery, supposedly from 2-5pm, and again we get a call and say it will actually be at 6:45 pm. Which is ruining our family dinner (the third time this week), not too mention we've been sitting around for hours waiting for them (again, for the third time this week). Every call we're met with clueless, apathetic store associates who tell us different things. After browsing the store and not one staff person offering to help I was perplexed. I noticed one staff member offer assistance to a woman who came in after us and so I approached her to see if we could have some help. In swoops Jeanette S and the sole reason I'm even giving 4 stars. She was just back from lunch and was amazing. The only person I'm dealing with if I go back. Husband and I were definitely buying something that day. Not sure if we weren't approached because we didn't "look" like we would (super casual attire), our interracial marriage or lack of good customer service but Jeanette went above and beyond to make us comfortable and give us all the information we needed to spend the $5k+ we came to spend. After 25 years with our old mattress and box spring and my lower back in severe pain, my husband and I decided to look for new mattress. We chose City Furniture at Ashley's Furniture for our purchases. My salesman Jeffrey Daron Miller presented me with at least 6 of the newer style mattresses that do not need boxsprings (which was my first mistake)that I layed on. I did select one that I thought would fit our needs. The first delivery, turned out to be a boxspring. They corrected the mistake 3 days later and delivered the one I choose. That bed and adjustable base was so uncomfortable that I went back to store complaining and asked for a refund. Of course, they will only refund 24 hours after you place your order. We paid over $3200. Our only recourse was to upgrade(we thought)and pick out another mattress plus pay additionally for this other mattress plus more taxes and more delivery charges. We shouldn't have let our salesman, Jeffrey Daron Miller, talk us into the more expensive 2nd mattress because it is the worst mattress I have ever slept on. My husband can not sleep in our room because it is so difficult for him to get out of the bed. My lower back hurts constantly every morning. The adjustable base is not strong enough to support this new mattress, so it makes it difficult to get out of the bed. Our salesman and puchase agreement stated to try out the mattress for 120 days so your body can contour to mattress, well that is a bunch of bull. I have slept on both sides of matress and it is still uncomfortable plus there is a lump in middle of mattress. Thinking I was getting a good mattress, I have thrown away $3500. I am trying to sell this mattress, but Not many people will purchase a used mattress even though it is only 4 months old. If I do sell it online, it will be at a great monitary loss. A few weeks ago I purchased a bedroom set ( headboard, footboard, frame, dresser with mirror and nightstand) and chair with ottoman. The salesman, Anthony, was very personable and helpful. When the furniture was delivered a week later, the dresser was damaged and the chair was damaged. There was not much they could do about the dresser so they offered me a credit. I wanted the chair exchanged as it would be visible in my living room. I had to wait over a week for the chair replacement as it was out of stock and I could not take time off from work during the week. The chair replacement was delivered today Sunday, October 7, it to was damaged. City furniture does not allow returns so now I have to wait another full week for this chair to be replaced. When I spoke to customer service the representative was very rude and ignorant. He talked over me. He said I should not have accepted the chair if it was damaged. I asked to speak to a manager and was put on hold for a very prolonged period of time. The original customer service representative came back on the phone and said a manager was not available. I asked that one call me. I waited for several minutes before trying to call back, was put on hold again for 20 minutes and had to wait for another call back. I received a call back about 40 minutes later and was told I had to wait another week for the replacement because the chair was back ordered...again. I have wasted numerous hours on hold or waiting for a call back and lost two weekends so far as I cannot make plans because I have to wait for delivery. I will be wasting a third weekend waiting for the second replacement chair. I will never do business with this establishment again. I recently purchased a sofa and pub table set, and I can say that my salesperson, Travis was extremely helpful, personable and efficient. From beginning to end, he was everything a salesperson should be. He never hesitated in encouraging me to contact him at any time with any questions or concerns. He also called after delivery to ensure that everything was perfect. As for delivery, everything was perfect. The delivery guys were super friendly and efficient. After my post on Yelp I received a phone call from Kate in customer relations at City Furniture. She agreed after reviewing my complaint file that I had been treated badly. Bottom line is that Ashley Furniture delivered a new table and center leaf on 11/20/19 and removed the old defective items at no charge. This all that I had ever asked for under the terms of the warranty. So far I have had no problems with the replacement table. read more

Nice store. Helpful staff. They need much better covid masks. The ones the company has issued them keep falling off their faces. Becomes quite distracting when you're trying to communicate and constantly they're messing with their masks. Mostly amounts to no masks at all, when you get right down to it. I purchased a Willowton king sleigh bed. I was told many times by the salesman, Robert, the Serta Blue Max 1000 adjustable bed would fit inside the bed frame. So, I bought the mattress/adjustable base from someone else. Same bed, different store. The bed frame was delivered 2 days after I bought it and the mattress was delivered the day after. When they tried to set the mattess up, it would not fit into the frame. So, I contaced the Ashley store where I bought the bed frame and after everything, they said they would allow me to change if I paid a 15% restock and $79 relivery fee, about $169. I had asked the saleman, at least 3 times, with my wife present if the mattress (the Blue Max) would fit and each time an emphatic yes. I went to the store and showed the saleman his adjustable bed base and I said, if I bought the mattress from you, if would not have fit either. They would not budge. So, I'm stuck with a bed frame that does not fit unless I, who asked all the right questions, want to pay $169 more. I went back the day after their bed frame was delivered. It was not a week or more later. Four days after I paid for it. I told the saleman, Robert, that I believed he knew in his heart that I was right. He did not answer. In short, I believe he does not want to help because He, Robert answered the question incorrectly. His response was, I answered based upon what we sell. But as i pointed out, I took him back and showed him his product and it was the same. His answer is so ignorant, and a lie, because people don't buy everything from the same store. I am warning all my friends and neigbors about this store. I live in a gated community of about 400+ homes. I'm going to put something out on their website telling them about the dishonesty, the lack of honor, that this store and saleman has UPDATE 12-5-17 Two weeks ago, shortly after I posted this review, I received a call from Ashley (I believe their corporate custmer svc.) I told them the story as noted above. After that, I received an apology and was told they would use my story to further educate their sales staff on their products and, I was told to expect a $100 credit back on my card. A week ago I called them back and asked why they hadn't given me the credit yet. I was told that the accounting dept. hadn't got to it yet. A couple days ago, I sent another written inquiry, via the Ashley site, asking where my credit was. I received a reply back that the local store was responsible and that I had to speak to them. Hmm, I was never told that when I was told I would get a credit. So, I'm presuming now that the customer service person that called me was, to put it politely, "disingenous". Frankly, this is just another fine example of how Ashley treats customers who are wronged. Frankly, I believe the refund should have been the added cost of the bed frame I had to buy to make the sleigh bed work, about $139, but I was willing to accept the $100. Now it appears, I may not even get that. You need to check everything with Ashley. I did but I was still wronged by them. I have never experienced this level of dishonesty. read more

I purchased a bed frame, head/foot board, from Ashley. I was looking at a mattress there too. After several trips to Ashley, I finally decided to purchase the bed frame there but not the mattress. The mattress was purchased at a competitor for a better price. The frame was delivered on Sunday, 11-19-17, the bed the next day. "Before" purchasing the frame though, I asked the saleman at least 3 times if the bed, which had special functions to raise the head, feet, etc. would fit in the frame. He told me it would. So after about my third visit to the store, I purchased the frame but asked the question again about the bed fitting. The saleman said yes. So, they delivered the frame and set it up, the next day they delivered the bed and it did not fit within the frame. The reason, a 3 inch piece of wood at the foot board that stuck out too far from the frame for the bed legs to fit. So, I called the store immediately, went in to speak to the saleman and evenatually told they would only allow me to get another frame if I paid a 15% restocking fee, about $90 and about an $80 relivery fee. I told the saleman that I bought the frame because "he" told me it would work and, the fram was just delivered and installed the previous day, not days or weeks before. He said his answer was based upon the products they sell, that their beds fit in the frame. The bed I eventually purchased was sold by both Ashley and the other company. We went back and looked at the bed Ashley had on display and the legs were the same so, their bed would "not" have fit either. Thus, the saleperson didn't really know what he was talking about. After speaking to him at some lenght and the salesperson talking to his superiors they remained steadfast that I would have to pay the fees noted above. Amazing this, I asked so many time if the bed would fit, I'm pretty sure if I bought the bed from them, it would not have it either. The salesperson told me I could talk to the "big" manager on Tuesdy to see if "I" could change their minds. I asked the salesperson why he wouldn't present my case. No response. I told him that I felt I was on the side of right because I had asked 3-4 times if it would fit and bought it based upon his answers. The short is they only want their commission. They are unwilling to go the extra mile for the customer. I have seen customer service like this in many years and I'm a senior citizen. They screwed up and I am stuck with a product that does not work and must pay them, again, because of their erroneous answers. Frankly, I can figure it out. I will never set foot in the store again and will advise my HOA (430 strong) about my experience and tell all my friends outside of the HOA about their poor customer policies. It won't hurt them much. They are a big store but, I'm very sorry that I purchased this item from these people. They could not stand behind their mistake, probably because the salesperson didn't tell them he advised me incorrectly. Whatever the reason, they were very inconsiderate. read more
