In July 2025, I signed a lease with Extra Space Storage in Sebastian for a 10x10 climate-controlled unit at $76 per month. Before I even moved in, I was asked to post a Google review. I chose not to, because being friendly and keeping a facility clean are basic expectations of any storage company. If a business cannot meet those, it should not be trusted with people's most personal and irreplaceable belongings. I am posting this review now because customers deserve to know what happens after the contract is signed. Within three months, my rate was raised by nearly 100%, with only 30 days' notice. I called the company multiple times and responded through every channel available, providing clear, factual information. Each time, I received the same scripted answer, pointing to fine print instead of addressing the ethics or impact of their actions. When I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (Case #24034409), Extra Space responded that the increase was "within the law" and permitted by the lease, again avoiding any discussion of the ethics behind doubling a customer's rate in 90 days or the burden placed on people who cannot easily relocate their possessions. I understand the contract I signed. What I reject is the idea that this is a legitimate "market adjustment." It is a calculated business strategy that exploits customers during moments of transition. Most people seek storage when life is already unsettled, moving to a new city, downsizing, or navigating other stressful and costly changes. To impose extreme rate hikes knowing people do not have the means or time to move their belongings elsewhere is deeply disappointing. For most of us, storage is not about "extra stuff." It is about protecting what is important: pieces of our lives that cannot be replaced. I trusted this company to do what was right. I've had nothing but positive interactions with the staff at extra space storage, like everything else, prices continue to rise but not out of the range of other storage facilities. I have nothing bad to say at all. read more

They raise their rates over 100.00 a month without notice. Then claim they sent an index size card in the mail. They e-mail everything else. read more

I dislike leaving bad reviews, but my experience with this company was not very good. My dad passed away last year and I came From the west coast to settle the estate. I rented a unit for a decent price, but within a month they raised my rent $80 per Month because of "demand" even though they. We're advertising units at a price much lower. Then they raised it again so I am paying almost $200/mo for a unit. I emptied it last month and discovered there had been rats and cockroaches. To the point I had to trash a Lot of my belongings including some sentimental items. The doors do not Shut well so dirt and debris came into the unit as well. So disappointing for what I had to pay. We have numerous units at Extra Space Sebastian. It's the finest run storage facility we have ever used for business and personal needs. Manager Becky is a pleasant asset who really knows how to manage the place and hosts a genuinely pleasant smile and manner. We highly recommend this place. read more

8/10/23 update: Web Renters beware Emily S., I called the number you provided on 8/9/23 and talked to Walt. He informed me that the web rates are only temporary (3-4 months) and my rate went from $91 to $182 after 4 months. He was willing to bring it down to $145.60 a month but would not give me the current web rate of $93 a month. I asked why the website did not make it clear that the rates were only temporary and he said he does not have control over the web site design. When I asked if I could cancel my current rental and rent again via the web and get the web rate, he said I could, but then I would have to move all my belonging from one unit to the next. read more

Absolutely the worst storage unit. For cost of over $300/month the unit had leaks all over the place. We were not the only unit. When we finally noticed it and went to the office the girl handed us a can of foam spray and told us to fill the holes in the ceiling that the roofers were called but had no idea when they were coming. We really wanted to move our stuff out, but we are older and just finished moving it in. We knew we wouldn't be renting it long since we were moving soon. My husband and I had to call our son to come to the unit and to get on a ladder for us to fill the holes. Luckily all of our things were in plastic tubs and the water never got into any of them except one box that was cardboard. We were able to save what was inside but was starting to get moldy. I feel sorry for the staff who have to deal with this company because they were great and it was out of their control. Corporate better step up to the plate ! Don't rent here you will be sorry. BEWARE OF THE BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I moved in to my unit in May based on their competitive rates. Now that all of my belongings are moved in, I received a notice that my rate will be increasing over 60%!!! I will now have to rent another truck to move my belongings to one of the many other storage units in Sebastian. I would definitely steer clear of this location on Route 1. read more
