I recently purchased a power lift recliner from the store in Monkey Junction for my partner who was coming home from spine surgery. Chair is fine but not a good fit for him so we went back to store and found another chair that worked for us for more money. The original chair was 899 the new one was about three hundred more plus I purchased a five year warranty on the original one. Store has a no return exchange policy and will not budge throws problem back on Corporate and a customer care number you need to call. I will never step foot in an Ashley store again or recommend them to anyone. I wasn't told about a no return exchange policy up front but it is in paper work. Skyler was our salesman at the market street location. Had a wonderful experience he wasn't pushy what so ever he went above and beyond every measure to help with our needs. All of our furniture came in just like he had told us. There were some times when the delivery guys came to put stuff together that they did as poor job but it want keep from giving a bad review the product is just as we saw in the store we're happy and that's all that matters at the end of the day. read more

I ordered an expensive mattress and was given a set delivery date and time frame. Every time I called once my original time had passed I was given a different time. I asked each time for the driver to give me an update, it never came. When I tried calling to speak to someone at the store they kept re-directing my call to the same people that gave me the runaround about my delivery. Each time I was told my bed was on the truck and on the way. 4 hours AFTER my original delivery time passed I was told the delivery had been canceled because the bed didn't pass inspection. And you can forget talking to someone at the store to find anything out because if you have an account and questions they WILL NOT connect you to the store. My parents went in the Market Street location today to buy a small table. They were greeted kindly until they told the guy that greeted them what they were looking for. That is when he proceeded to tell them they can look in the back at the red tag section. They found a table they liked and brought it to the front to buy it. The girl asked them if they have ever bought anything from them before and they said no. The girl told them it was going to be a while then because she needed to get all of their information. They refused because they were buying the table not financing it. They were not allowed to buy the table because they would not give their names, address, phone numbers and email addresses. I walked in to help my Mom buy furniture and a salesman "Luke," asked to show us some furniture he had picked out. When We politely said we wished to look for something we might like, he sounded appalled and demanded our names as our backs were turned. We then started walking around the store and he followed us approx. 10 feet behind. It was very unnerving and he was watching us the whole time. He then questioned why we were there which was in a confrontational way, and when we said "we are just starting to look for furniture," he replied, "Well, we are the only furniture place in the parking lot so there must be something you saw online." To which we were puzzled and said no we hadn't looked prior. He then proceeded to insist we saw something online as if we were hiding something, and we promptly left. Not impressed with the quality of the merchandise what whatsoever. Bought several things from them kitchen set lasted for a few years finish came off pretty easily. Bought a couch from them got it home after a few days I realized how poor is the quality is they wouldn't take a return. They did agree to send a different couch but it was just as bad. After 12 months the vinyl that was attached to the leather seating surface begin to severely crack at two years of age it was absolute junk. I acknowledge the quality of the Ashley furniture is subpar at best, but even accepting that fact, I have been waiting on a bed for 6 months and they have no idea when it might come in. How do you run a business that requires payment in advance and then take over 6 months to deliver a product that you already quote a ridiculous lead time of 3 months on and you have no idea when it's expected to arrive. This is a complete joke. Ashley should be out of business. Stop blaming a broken supply chain. They buy everything from Vietnam, no reason you can't get production and delivery dates. Avoid this place unless you want low quality furniture and are okay with giving an interest free loan for whatever amount of time they feel like. read more

I guess some of these reviews were from a different management group. We ordered a bedroom suite from John Castoro of Ashley's in Wilmington, NC Mayfaire Store who we thought was great in APRIL. We built a house and the closing date was moved up. We were told that there would be no problem in moving up the date; delivering to our house 30 miles away (another Ashley's was in our town) and we would have it delivered when we want. We were so impressed that we came back and ordered end tables. The total was around $4,000. In early August we were told we would have this in a couple of weeks. After texts for four weeks in which we were told the delivery date was now mid-September, I found out it was on indefinite hold. After being told for weeks the delivery was being escalated and notes to management and other similar excuses with no follow-up, I went into the store to find out why and learned because we were 30 miles away, they would only deliver the furniture when all pieces were in the warehouse. Furthermore, I found out we were charged more and the order was being held up because we were "out of route" for the Wilmington store. I had enough so I wanted a refund. After more excuses, I said to cancel the order ...the GM said was I rude..after only hearing about the canceled order. He didn't acknowledge the rudeness of being neglected for MONTHS and lied to about the delivery times and the reason for the delay. I have bought from Ashley's furniture since 1992 and love the quality and the brand. BUT DON"T GO TO The Wilmington, NC Mayfaire Ashley's on market road. We bought a sofa, an accent chair, a recliner and a mattress a year ago. When we got the merchandise delivered and used it, the couch squeaked, the arm of the chair became loose, the recliner had a section that came off and within one year the mattress was indented. The couch we saw in the show room and the one that was delivered seemed to be of different quality. The one we got had cushions that were only upholstered on one side and can't be turned over. The chair is now sunken down and we sit very low in it. Service calls were made and the service people were very professional but the quality of the furniture is a bit shoddy. read more

Absolutely terrible. They delivered a broken dresser. They damaged my wall bringing it into my house. I had to wait 4 more months to get a working dresser. And not one person has even apologized for denting my wall! Scratching the paint --- customer we care says I will eventually hear from a person. 5 months in and still nothing! I ordered a new sleeper sofa from this store. The movers scratched up the floors and put a dent in the wall to my apartment I was already taking time off of work and had to rush back after they had moved it in. Once I got home I noticed a large stain on the arm, looked like old paint? It definitely could not be taken off. Then a few weeks later, I was taking the bed out and noticed ALL three cushions had been ripped. I went into the store over a month ago and reported all of this, as I bought the insurance and still had the warranty. They told me it would take a couple months for someone to come out and see if they could remove the stain but they will send me new cushions. I told them I was moving to another state in a month and they assured me the cushions would get there in time. At this point, I just want the couch gone so my plan was to sell it before moving. A month later, still no cushions. I called back today, a week before we move, and they can't find any order for cushions and now the manager, nick, doesn't remember dealing with this situation. Now I need to move this couch and they want to send a new order to my new address in another state, who knows how long that will be. I'm tired of dealing with it. Compared to the experience we used to have with Ashley HomeStore over 7 years ago, when they stood behind their product and service, Ashley HomeStore has seriously deteriorated; and this particular store is a nightmare. We moved here in March and purchased 3+ rooms of furniture. It is now almost the end of June and we have only received 1 room (minus an end table). We are still waiting for 2+ rooms of furniture, with absolutely no estimated ETA available. We get phone call updates once a month that say absolutely nothing, except that they haven't forgotten us. Delivery on the one set we did receive was also a horrible experience. The guy attached a few bed slats, then attempted to exit - leaving more than half the bed unassembled. We called him back and stood over him watching to ensure that he finished the job right. The worst part is we paid cash and here we are living out of boxes for over 3 months, because we have no furniture to put things in. Had we known the service would be this bad - we would have shopped elsewhere. Never, never will we ever shop here again. Terrible way to do business. Someone should teach them - the customer really does matter! read more

At the beginning of June, we purchased furniture for 4 rooms in our new home. This has been the worst experience from a retail business EVER! From the salesperson lack of response, delivery time, delivery of damaged furniture, delivery drivers leaving a mess, delivering damaged furniture (out of 17 items, 10 items needed replacement or repair, some more than once), lack of response of the service department - ugh, we will never buy from Ashley again. Nightmare! Buyers beware. I bought a living room set from Ashley Home Store in Monkey Junction with one piece customized and a queen bed for my son. The cough was delivered with a chunk out of the fabric and they took that back, brought another one that the recliner did not work in. Current cough, back rest broke and they repaired it once only to break again and still remains broken. Stuffing in all of the back-rest cushions have flatten in the couch. The large loveseat, the board for the foot rest fell off repaired it ourselves because we just did not have the time to call them out again, screws and nuts fell off underneath the seat of the recliner somewhere, husband went through and had to secure all the rest then the cable that releases the foot rest on the recliner broke, to be honest, they did provide us with a free handle and we fixed it. When they delivered my custom loveseat, they have customized it by using ZIP TIES to secure the middle piece with the cubby and cup holder to the other parts of the loveseat, they finally delivered that one correctly. YES I HAVE PICTURES THAT FOR SOME REASON WILL NOT LOAD! Purchased a queen size bed for my son who is in law enforcement, only to have it develop a huge sink hole that manifest itself in both sides of the mattress even when you rotate it in a circle ( one sided pillow-top unable to flip over), because the springs in the mattress gravitate to the middle and we currently have a 31 inch long by 11 inch canyon that is approximately 7 inches deep. The mattress is still under warranty, and we have tried to arrange times for them to come and inspect the mattress to see if we can get credit and by another bed, first time was to be 2PM last Thursday, received a message that was very staticky and the man was trying to come early, I work in the medical field and was not able to leave early, but was at my house at 2 because I had others working on something, no one came. Called the Ashley Furniture Repair division only to be told that the man came but did not know because of a note on the door............did not call to let me know he was there either. Set another appointment for today at 4PM, I was outside, cellphone in hand, called Repair shop at 4:25 only to be told it is for next week, I did not make an appointment for a day I have previously scheduled duties. Now I am being told that they give "windows to come out", no sorry, I was given a specific time because they already screwed up, now I am being asked to reschedule again.......it has been three weeks trying to get someone to just come and look at the mattress, I have offered to take the mattress to them and they said no, I offered to take it to the store and was told that only the warehouse man can determine if we get credit under the mattress warranty. Called the Store in Monkey Junction and spoke with the Manager, still not able to get anything accomplished, he did say the we might get the credit of what the mattress cost toward a new bed, but the Repair Store would have to schedule an appointment......seriously? Setting appointments has gotten nowhere because they don't keep them, but they keep us jumping through hoops and leaving work to get here only to have them no show. The manager explained that it was really hard for them to get the manufacturers to honor their warranties with Ashley and they might not take the bed back from Ashley, maybe this is why they don't want to come out and inspect the mattress. I told the manager to forget it, 400.00 credit towards another bed (AND WE ARE LOOKING TO BUY A SLEEP NUMBER SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU READ THIS AND KNOW OF AN HONEST REPUTABLE MATTRESS STORE). I told the manager that I was writing this review. I hope it helps someone else not drop thousands of dollars in a place with cheap furniture and no honor on warranties. Delivery men broke a $100 lamp immediately upon entering the house. When we asked about replacement of lamp the driver told us that maybe his manager could get us a store credit. He also stated that the waiver we signed for them to take the couch to the 2nd floor excluded us from getting reimbursement for the lamp. Called the store and yet to get a call back. Thought we were dealing with a professional organization however isn't looking like it. Will update if anything is resolved. read more

Ashley Furniture is garbage. It is as cheaply made as possible with pieces of light wood or composite and pretty fabrics stretched over it. We bought a sectional and 5 months later our $2,000 purchase had loose fabric on the back, stretched out cushions, and was just generally poor quality. Don't try to contact Ashley Furnitures customer care line, they will give you the run around and say your issue isn't their responsibility, despite a 5 year warranty. Once you finally do get a hold of someone, they'll tell you to send a whole multitude of pictures to some random email address and then you'll wait 4-6 weeks for a reply to see if your claim is even accepted. All of this 5 months in, we sold the POS couch at a loss and went with a brand with some actual quality. Save your money, Ashley Furniture is a bunch of laminate junk. read more

Ashley Furniture sold us a couch off the floor and never told us it was sold as is. Upon delivery the center cushion sank 4 inches from the end cushions that reclined. The couch was not this way when I bought it, upon delivery we found this and in addition found dog hair and sand within the cracks of the cushion, we have NO pets. This couch was either used and put back on the floor as new and rigged up to not represent the sinking cushion And/or was used and abused by the sales people on the floor hanging out on it not doing their jobs and or cleaning it afterwards. So far they have not made any attempts to make this right and all I asked for is a center cushion to be replaced and made right with the service call fee waved... They are not being very proactive in regarding this situation. I have taken this to corporate and I have gotten no response. The lack of integrity and professionalism held by this company is unacceptable. I strongly urge any customer going in there to buy furniture, to inspect it and then upon delivery re-inspect it to make sure it is to your satisfaction. My personal opinion is that the cushion was rigged up to appear to be all good, and/or the delivery team messed it up. Either way Ashley furniture needs to do what's right and rectify the situation. The couch would've never been bought if it was in the condition that it was delivered to me in. Not to mention, we found dog hair and sand within the cushion cracks of a brand new couch, this tells me that either the couch was returned and sold as new and made and/or rigged to appear to be good to go. Their lack of professionalism and integrity and accountability is completely unacceptable! I strongly urge you to watch Your self if dealing with Ashley furniture. My personal opinion is, go somewhere else. I have nothing but documentation to back up everything I have just said. This is not a lie this is actual truth, please do not let this company and their lack of integrity compromise your new furniture. If anybody has any questions please do not hesitate to call me because I can provide pictures and documentation, watch yourselves as these folks are snakes in the grass with no accountability. We said we would think about it and left for the door. They thought we were gone (we were looking at sofas near the front of the store and they couldn't see us) and we could hear them talking #$%# about us. Kent was the sales guy. The weekend I moved to Wilmington, I was on a frantic search for a couch while we had the moving truck rented & paid for for the weekend. We tried a lot of local used furniture places (Goodwill, Salvation Army, Etc.) with no luck. Everything was so crummy I finally decided to go somewhere with new furniture. Ashley Furniture had signs all around town advertising their clearance sale. We decided to go and see if anything was affordable. We were greeted by a salesman who showed us around. Everything was over $1000 - much more than I wanted to spend. The salesman asked me what my price range was and I said "Well, I was hoping to pay $50 for a used couch, but everything was crummy so now I just want to see what is least expensive new." So he quickly changed his strategy and showed us to the back room with the "wholesale" items. We found a cute loveseat that was around $350. We wouldn't have found anything for that price new without this great sale. Normally, we would have had to order it and wait a week or two for it to come in, but we explained that we only have the truck for another day. The salesman talked to the manager and came back quickly and said we could take the sample couch home today! We were thrilled to get a high quality loveseat for this price. Worst shopping experience in my life. I ordered furniture, paid for everything and was told when the furniture was going to be delivered. I asked if they would take the old furniture away, offered to pay them to take it away and I was told it was against store policy for them to move anything out. I was then called and received a text that the furniture was going to be delivered on July 26, 2017 and that I would have to have the other furniture out of the way. I paid someone else to take the old furniture. On July 26, 2017 I received a text saying the furniture was not going to be delivered that day. No explanation, nothing. I called and was told three different stories by three different individuals. I ended up buying better furniture at Summerhome where the service was exceptional. read more

It has now been two full weeks later and I've been told that they are not sure when it will be in..... This is the Market St store in Wilmington. Orders cannot be cancelled once they're placed, ever before they're delivered. If you place an order, you have to wait a while for it to be delivered. No surprise there. If something comes up suddenly and you can no longer afford the few thousand dollars you spent on the furniture you still haven't received, you're out of luck. You cannot cancel your order even though you have not received any of the things that you purchased. I assumed when signing that the whole all sales are final, no refunds jargon implied you couldn't return or exchange furniture after the sale had been completed. After all, nobody wants to buy used furniture at new prices. But apparently the policy considers the transaction completed as soon as you sign off on the order even though you've NEVER RECEIVED YOUR EQUIPMENT. Terrible awful policy. Very likely would have gone back at some point in the future to buy the set we wanted to cancel and even more likely might have continued using their services for the next 60 or so years my wife and I will probably be buying furniture. Instead, we'll have to learn to love the furniture we can't afford and never ever ever shop at this store again for being so completely illogical regarding such a simple request. read more

I went to buy furniture (I needed everything) and I walked out not buying anything and I was disappointed. First off, not a big selection of furniture. Second, some of the furniture wasn't the best quality and their prices were ridiculous. Third, I went in with my boyfriend. The saleswoman only talked to my boyfriend and wouldn't make eye contact with me. Its like, I wasn't there. We tried telling her that I was buying the furniture. Let's get one thing straight. The people who work at Ashley are sales people. People who want to complain about a sales person trying to do their job effectively need to spend a day in their shoes, because their job is not easy. Don't complain or down rate this store because you lack the know how to defend yourself or communicate with a typical salesman. While I was told by many to stay away from the store due to pushy salesmen, I decided to go for myself since my family and I were in the market for some new furniture. One thing you need to realize about this store is when they say they're having "ONE TIME CRAZY SPECTACULAR 30% OFF SALE BLABLABLABLA", it's just to draw customers in. Almost all prices are negotiable. We went during the "buy one get one free Presidents day sale", and saw a 3 piece living room set with an ottoman for 4400 dollars. Way out of our price range, with the sale the salesman said we could have it for 2800. The most we wanted to spend was in the low 2000 range. He tried to convince me to leave one of the other pieces out of the set, but my wife was adamant about three pieces. I told him we could do 2000 on the whole set not including delivery and tax. He left for about 10 minutes to probably calculate his commission and came back saying he could do 2400 + 150 delivery charge. I told him we couldn't do it and would have to look around at other stores. He seemed okay with walking away. I let the wife know he didn't take, and we started walking out the door. He stopped me just before we got out and gave us the "Let me talk to my sales manager" line. So he went and talked to him and got us closer to our mark at 2050+100 delivery. I looked at my wife and she gave me "the nod". Before we shook on it, I got out my smart phone and priced out the furniture online(Highly suggest this). I found two companies online, "Factory direct" furniture and another company called "MM furniture" both carried the same set and I priced them out to 2465, not including tax or shipping. With tax from Ashley we paid about 2300. I think we got a great deal. My advice is to go in with a plan and a budget, and expect somewhat pushy/overly helpful sales people. They're not going to hurt you, just be honest and bring your smart phone and look up that particular collection online. Good Luck! read more

The store falsely advertise sales and gouge prices. They put a random number % off to get you to come in but the price is much higher than the Ashley internet price. Do it and see for yourself - have a total price from all items, then ask the sales person to price out what the total is in store. They will give you a yellow sales bill with a total that is MUCH higher. You also CANNOT leave the store with this yellow sales bill, in case you want to compare at home. They will then say that they are willing to bargain but the prices are way too high. Buy from the company website if you must have what you want. If you want to pay significantly more for something you can get for 300% less at a different Ashley Furniture store then go to this one and pay their exuberant prices which are marked sometimes more then 300% higher then even the ashleyfurniturehomestore.com website. I walked around as a knowledgable buyer and decided nearly immediately I wasn't going to buy there after seeing all their prices. Even with their "SALE" I saw things priced 200% more then the online Ashley Furniture store and 300-400% with their "SALE" compared to other Ashley Furniture stores close by.
