I stayed past 7 pm, which is when the mall closes daily. However, this bookstore closes daily at 8 pm. Awesome! This B&N is at the food court. You can enter the store without going through the mall. I had just finished eating dinner at the food court, so I took the mall entrance. The selection of reduced books and other items is this store's strength. I picked up a Sip by S'well bottle for $10, which is unheard of. One of their bottles that keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for many hours normally goes for $20, at least. I needed one to fill up at the airport and loved the marble design that I got. I gravitated towards the Pusheen section. The plushies were adorable. I had some willpower and did not get any. There are a lot of plushies at this store, from BT21, to Harry Potter. I loved seeing them all. My favourite discovery was the music section. You can still listen to CDs here. I haven't seen that setup in a decade. I loved looking at the records (vinyl) and turntables. I was so happy. This store is huge. It has a full cafe with seating. I enjoyed my time browsing. I had to figure out where to pay. The payment area by the mall was unstaffed. There was an information desk smack in the middle of the store. Nearby was the second payment area. I had the nicest woman at the checkout. She found my name in the system after she got my phone number. If you sign up for a B&N membership, you get 15% off everything. I tend to shop here often that this membership has paid for itself and more. She placed my water bottle in a plastic bag and wished me a nice evening. I reciprocated and left the store, heading to my car through the mall. I love this store in my old stomping ground. I will definitely return and maybe stay a bit longer than an hour next time. (35)

I liked the tea towel that pinpointed where Rochester was. When you mention Rochester, most folks think of the city in New York. Nope, that Rochester doesn't have the Mayo Clinic like the one in Minnesota does. There were Christmas items on sale, from socks to ornaments. The pine cone hedge hogs with Santa hats were adorable! There were plenty of sweatshirts and apparel flaunting the state. I loved a geode in state form. It was cool. It also has general gift items, such as punny gnome socks. I spent quite a bit of time browsing everything. I may have to go back and get the cork coaster set that declares one's love for Minnesota. It seems fitting that I should have them. When I lived in Rochester, I don't recall ever visiting this store. It wasn't that I wasn't interested in arts and crafts. I was probably more interested in Bed Bath and Beyond that was next door. It is now an empty, shuttered store. I wanted to get a calligraphy pen. Nothing fancy. I was thinking one with a felt tip. I like practicing calligraphy when I have some free time. I am on vacation, so it seemed perfect. In any Michaels store, the challenge is trying to figure out where the calligraphy aisle is. This store was no different. It's huge! This store has a lot of Sanrio items. Hello Kitty is the star, from large silicone cake pans, to figures that you can paint. I was not expecting so much Hello Kitty and friends merchandise. It was cool and a pleasant surprise. I found the jewellery section. I liked looking at leverbacks for earrings. You can also get a bunch of charms for bracelets and necklaces. I particularly liked the Eiffel Tower ones in various sizes. I managed to find the calligraphy section. I didn't need to ask anyone. I did it! Aisle 59. I found exactly what I wanted. I got a Speedball Elegant Writer pen. It was my first pen that I used to learn calligraphy back in grade six and it's perfect for travel. My first one was green. I got one in black. I had a nice woman at the checkout counter. I hadn't visited a Michaels store stateside in a while. However, she managed to find me in their system using my cell phone number. I paid with a credit card. Done! I passed on getting a bag. I thanked the woman, placed my purchase in my purse, and left to fetch my takeout from New China before driving back to Bloomington. It has been fun practising calligraphy on my vacation. It started with using a small pad of paper in my hotel room. I have moved to using a notebook that I got at Dollar Tree. Because I think the prices are pretty high, we went home to see if we could get a coupon. Long story short, I ordered on line with discounts available and had them ship a costume to the store. It took a few days. When I picked it up, they were very nice about it and had it ready. They gave my a very large orange halloween bag (normally 2.99) for the order. Turns out the costume was a little snug. Today. I ordered my son's costume online to pick up in the the store being it was in stock. It was ready when I got there with another bag. They were also very nice and I was able to exchange the other costume. They couldn't find the same costume in the bigger size in any store...we picked a different one and paid the difference. The manager was very nice throughout the whole process. Even though I think the costumes are kind of spendy, they are better quality and last a little longer.
