I took it to a store in the LaCrosse Mall and the young lady working told me that she always recommended, "Clocks off Main", to people who needed watches fixed. I drove straight to the place she referred me to and was promptly assisted by the owner, Joe, who was able to fix the watch in less than 5 minutes and only charged me $10. They told me I needed a new movement which would cost me $200 and take 2 months to get the parts and repair it.... Well, long story short, TimeScape was able to diagnose the issue in 5 minutes and all it cost me was $20 for a replacement battery! Overall, the folks at TimeScape were very friendly and obviously provided fair/honest service for my watches. I'm definitely coming back for my future watch repairs!

Each time, I started with, "I'm just looking to get some ideas," or "I need to leave in 15 minutes, but wanted to stop by." Frequently, I said thank you that's all I needed for now and was ignored. Every time, they tried to get me to buy a ring or a watch immediately. "Oh, we're having a sale today, and it's a really good price on this ring." Every item I seemed interested in was praised as a great for this reason or that. While I looked, they would blabber about how great that brand was. They may have been right, but I felt like it was only said to persuade me. Frequently, I said, "I need to be somewhere and have to go," and they never listened. They often responded by having me hold the ring while they pulled out a catalog of other options or while they offered to check diamond prices on their computer. They always wanted to get my information or give me theirs no matter how much I said I would be back (which I meant) and that I needed to leave. Well, I guess I won't be going back anymore. Each experience was the high-pressure nightmare we hear about jewelry stores. They never respected me or my time. They were not concerned about me finding the right ring, watch, etc. They weren't interested in what I wanted if it didn't sell something that day.

As the header says, Faribo Jewelers is closed and has been for a long time. Douglas Jewelers less…read morethan a mile east of that location on Hwy 60 has taken their place. The Faribo West Mall is more of a ghost town than a retail center these days. While Faribault struggles to revitalize their downtown, the mall has been essentially abandoned with the anchor store exceptions of a Super Wal-Mart and a busy J.C. Penny store. Other than that, they may as well fill it with kiosks. Strip malls are taking over that area of town with sandwish shops and cell phone retailers. Too bad, the guys at Faribo Jewelers were some pretty straight shooing guys who stood behind their products. I bought numerous Christmas gifts there for my wife of 30 years. Dandelet Jewelers is another fine store that has faded into local lore.
