Over time I've picked up treats for neighbors, co‑workers (the glazed croissants are unbelievable!), and one of the hardest‑working instructors at UD -- my fella. I dropped by yesterday hoping to try the Pączki and didn't realize they were a one‑day special. Instead of turning me away, they said, "Give us a few minutes." My wife loves pastries more than anything. I had placed a large order for her birthday several years ago and per her request did so again last week. I picked up the pastries on Tuesday to celebrate and serve them for her birthday today, Wednesday. The cannoli were delightful, the zeppelins amazing, the baklava decadent. However, imagine our horror and disgust when we grabbed fruit tarts to sample to see that the raspberries on top had mold all over them. I did not check the pastries yesterday but I guess I should have. Pretty big let down for a birthday celebration and especially at this price point. Bummer read more

I was so excited when I saw on Facebook Ashley's was offering Cleveland Browns themed desserts; however, much like the playoff game itself, these cookies were disappointing & embarrassing. The (edible?) paper design on the cookies was unimpressive and the whole thing peeled off at first bite. Overall, the cookies were a total miss: design, lackluster flavor, price ($42 per dozen). I couldn't even give them away at the end of the game, no one wanted to take them home. read more

Stopped in to pick up a small coconut cake today. While I was there, I also purchased a pumpkin shaped iced sugar cookie and a pumpkin-flavored cookie with a cream cheese dollop. The coconut cake is very lacking in flavor. It's a white cake base with your average whipped frosting and (not toasted) coconut flakes. I could taste no coconut cream filling and the cake was dry. It tasted like a generic white cake with lots of super sweet coconut flakes, but none of that creaminess or essence of actual coconut thay makes an average idea extraordinary. The cake is on par with one that you might purchase at a grocery store; most definitely not worthy of the price. And therein lies the biggest issue. The total for a small 6" cake and two cookies was $35! Frankly, I was surprised but didn't question it as I was expecting outstanding quality. I didn't receive a receipt and there are NO prices listed anywhere, so I'm not sure what was what...but if the cake cost me more than $20 (it likely did) that is a disappointment. The cookies were good. I will give credit there. read more

Everything here is so fancy and good! My favorite treat is the world's best cookie - not sure of the name but they're butterscotch with merange on top. I always promise myself to get home before I indulge, but even as I'm thinking it I'm into the bag and shoving one into my mouth while steering with one hand. I don't even share these...I buy another treat for Bob. The Heritage House (RIP) introduced me to this cookie with my all time dessert favorite butterscotch pudding (who knew pudding could be that good?) And I've been eating them ever since, tho I try to limit how often cause I have no control with a dozen of them. Also, Pine Club fans who love those salt sticks...this is where they get them. And they freeze very well. Cash only so fill your wallet before hitting the door. Expensive but so worth it! read more

This place is amazing. We had our wedding cake done here many years ago and now get our son's birthday cake here every year. They always do a fabulous job with whatever theme we request, and the cake is so moist with the most decadent icing. The owner provides wonderful service, she even comped a cake I got for my husband's return from military deployment years ago. Other pastries are just as good, I could survive on their sand tart cookies. read more

Lovely shop, with tons of varieties on display. Every pastry that I bought and tasted was delicious. There were not many customers in the shop, and I got service quickly. Negatives: No prices on anything. Signs describing the items are hanging well above or below the item, and it took some searching to figure out what I was looking at. Asked for a coffee and was given a day old, lukewarm, 8 oz cup of weak coffee in Styrofoam with a splash of milk that I watched the owner pour out of a jug. No itemized receipt, so I have no idea what I paid for the "coffee". Only accept PayPal, Cash or Check. Again, I would have appreciated an itemized receipt to know how much I was being charged for what I bought and how much was mystery overhead. Pastries were great! But the icing tastes processed and has the tang of something that's mostly Red 40 and shortening. That kind of icing should be used sparingly, and not globbed on to light and flakey sugar cookies. Lots of unique items that I would happily return for, but not when I don't know what I'm paying for. Also, in that neighborhood, surprised they won't do credit card. read more

I had my first visit this week and it was so nice! The workers were very friendly and everything looked so delicious. I got a danish cup and it was the best danish i have ever had, I got the cherry but they have blueberry as well so I will definitely be back to try! How have I lived in Dayton all my life and have never stopped in? I'd heard my mother rave about a Polish packzi so when I saw Ashley's post saying they'd made some I knew I had to get her some of these Limited time only pastries. She tried the one packed full of apples with a cream cheese (?) just-sweet-enough icing on top. I tried the famous "cronut" and without a doubt, give it two thumbs up. Addicting from bite one! The cronut is a flaky croissant/glazed donut hybrid. The texture was soft, flaky and chewy with a hint of slightly toasted flavor along with the sugary glaze. Thank goodness I don't live within walking distance of this bakery! The only thing that was a bummer is no credit or debit cards. I didn't have any cash or check so had to trek up the street to the atm. Almost wanted to give four stars because of the inconvenience but nah, the treats were worth it. read more

What a fantastic experience! I was looking for a local bakery that was family run. I found it and got so much more!! There were RAVE reviews for the cake and very little was left by the end of the evening. In fact, the 95 year old birthday boy didn't want anyone touching the picture of the ship that was designed on his cake. He got to take that portion home. Everything else was devoured! Went with my friend, both our first time here. I got a bear claw, pecan sticky roll, and glazed croissant. My friend got a cheese and cherry danish. My friend said hers was dry. And for my purchases, the pecan roll was straight sugar in my mouth, not like other rolls I've had other places where I could appreciate the toffee and pecan flavors. The croissant was over cooked and had a burnt flavor, if it wasn't I think the concept and flavors would've been really good. read more
