This unpretentious little spot in Englewood is a fairly simple establishment that serves some wonderful ice cream. It has the feel of a summer neighborhood gathering spot. You order from the outside window, though most of the seating is inside. The service was friendly and very efficient. There were many tempting decadent creations (sundaes, milkshakes, concretes, etc.) on the menu with a multitude of varieties. However, the base ice cream selections were streamlined. There was chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and lemon. The latter was intriguing. Added to this, the "Flavor of the Dae" when we visited was s'mores. I noticed they offered a 3-scoop flight for $6 and that was ideal for my wife and I to split. We tried the chocolate, the s'mores and the lemon. They were all terrific! The basic chocolate was the best I've tasted in a long time. It was wonderfully creamy and you could truly taste the chocolate. The value here was terrific and the ice cream was very enjoyable. The service topped off a pleasant visit. We'll be back when we're in the area. read more

9/12/26 I came here with my husband for a nostalgic moment for him as he grew up in this neighborhood. We ordered the peanut butter brownie bash concrete and it was absolutely delicious! It is a walk up and order type of setup. The menu is listed on the outside of the building. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I have always loved JD's for YEARS now! If you are ever in the area you must come here. The custard is the best I have ever had. If it's your first time get a trash can sundae. But this time I got a chocolate malt and it was so tasty. My mother got a turtle sundae and I took a bite and it was so tasty. The people working there were very nice and everything came out in a timely manner. You can watch them all make it in the windows so you know it's all made to order. It's a clean place and very cute. We are in town for a convention and passed by this shop several times. Honestly, what drew us to the place was seeing the line. Ordering was easy because of the large board and we chose the chocolate custard. It was delicious. Being a cost-conscious person I got the quart ($6), and that's a good idea if you have a bunch of friends or family to eat it all. However, my mistake, staying in a hotel the quart size didn't fit in the freezer section. So the next day it was soup. Next time I will just get a cone. There's an inside place to sit but we were overdressed. Next time we'll come more casual or hey! eat it at the park across the street. read more

The frozen custard is great, this is about how old creepy guy (owner?) made us feel, and we won't be coming back. My wife had her foot on my knee, and I was rubbing her foot and calf because her feet were sore. Manager (owner?) came up to us and said, "I didn't mind when it was just you two, but now that we have people in here I'm asking you to stop doing that." We got up and left. I have a question, what about what was happening was offensive and why were you staring at my wife for a half an hour, and why didn't you ID yourself? This is without a doubt Englewood's flagship ice cream experience. Did you even go to Englewood if you don't know about this place? Does Custard make you cute? Idk, but this is 100% a dime spot and your date will put this up as a favorite place to go to. Now, I will get so much hate for this, but in all honesty their ice cream/custard is good but can absolutely be beat. It's not something that has that spark that is elite top tier level taste. I know a lot of people will say that it is, but it's not. They have some creative items like the trash can was a thing at one point and they have sometimes unique flavors of the month. In all reality if I want top tier taste I will go somewhere else. Also, the price for how good the taste is is high. This is for sure the only reason I did not rate it 5 stars. The environment is the best you can get for an ice cream/custard place. They have the highest of quality workers, I mean these guys bleed JD Custards. The building is nice. It's worth checking out inside even though it's just basically a hallway. The bike path forces the building to be further off of the main road. Which I think makes it more safer and kinda adds to the environment in a positive way. Centennial park is a crossed the street and the sun strait up goes down in the perfect spot for this place. They just added this iconic chair out front which is awesome. Again, JD custards is a flagship place for Englewood and you may fall in love with it. read more

While I've never had their custard, I have been here 3 times with my residents and some of the staff is unfriendly. Today, the first young lady that assisted me was friendly and and professional, but at the pickup window you would think they were oblivious they worked in customer service. We will not number returning at all this year, and it's a shame because my residents really enjoy the custard and it's local. It's a nice local joint that is SUPER Popular. Expect a long line in nice weather. They are strict about masks. If you are not ordering or have a health issue, you do not need one. Half what we wanted was unavailable because it was specialty or "flavor of the day". Then it was can't have this in waffle cone, cant have that in a waffle cone, can have it in a waffle cup....but not a cone". Crickey. Just give me flavor the day in cone? Yep, we can do that! Would have been just a four star review but I'm bumping them up to the five stars because of the top notch way that they handle allergy issues. As I've noted in previous reviews (see my reviews for Graeters, etc) the way an establishment handles the notation of an allergen truly determines how I feel about the place. When I pointed out that I had a nut allergy I was informed that a manager or supervisor has to be the one who handles the product start to finish and must use gloves and basically ensure no cross contamination of the product. None of this was done in a "hey you're a freak way" but in a "we take your allergy seriously" way and in a way that you could tell that they wanted you to be able to just enjoy the product. My friend ordered two additional sundaes, one for her son and one for herself, and they were all delightfully prepared. My sundae was very enjoyable and the service was even better. My fried's son probably would have eaten two more if allowed and she enjoyed hers as well. In summary: A++ for everything but an A++++++ for service read more

Would give a 0 if I could. We did love to come here but not after today. I and my two children were refused service because of not having a Mask. I have a legitimate reason to not wear one as in cancer tumors in my chest around my lungs. This is outside ordering at a window where I could've simply ordered 6 feet away. They were not crowded and we would've waited. Bottoms line you can't discriminate against people for any reason whether you know or not. Completely appalled by these unconstitutional rules.
