Dropping in with a little update since I've officially had experience with a second current stylist…read moreat Mirror Image. I dropped in last weekend with my mom, siblings and a couple other gals to get our hair done for my sister's wedding. The six of us (the bride, bridesmaids and mother of the bride) had our hair done by Kelly and Jessica (they each did three do's). Before arriving at the salon, I was a woman on a mission to make sure Kelly did my hair.....since she's the only stylist I knew at the salon. But of course, my mother and both sisters are also Kelly fans as well - and Kelly had already practiced with the other ladies' hair and had a plan in place. As soon as I saw Jessica start to work I knew I'd be okay. Just like Kelly, she was super competent and great with updos. My hair looked amazing! I got so many compliments on it. Everyone else's hair looked great too. All six of us entered the salon with varying degrees of knowing what we wanted.....and the ladies did a amazing job either matching our requests or helping us find the perfect updo. And the atmosphere was so nice, too. We ordered pastries and sandwiches from Felicia's (next door) and sipped on mimosas during the three hours we were there. Even though I offered mimosas to both Kelly and Jessica, they both opted against champagne while working on our hair....probably the professional decision. Thanks so much to Mirror Image, Kelly and Jess for helping to make my sister's wedding day special!

However I contacted FX and immediately they worked with me to find her a spot. They were so great at asking so many questions to ensure the reserved adequate time and were nice enough to provide an estimate. My step-daughter came out super happy with the service and everyone at the salon was friendly. The place looks beautiful. We had been here a while back for my sister's first hair color and I can say we love and trust them.

I am brand new to CT and made an appointment with Alexis at FX Hair Studio. My review has nothing…read moreto do with her quality of hair service because I never got that far, but rather the service, or lack thereof the salon itself, and her response to me when I expressed my concern about it. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment time because I believe that being on time is respectful. I approached the counter to check-in. There was no one there to greet or assist me. I looked around and there were two stylists, each with a client in the chair, who looked up at me and went about their business. I waited approximately 5 minutes just for someone to acknowledge that a customer was there. No one said a word so I left and drove home. I txt the stylist whom I had an appointment with and explained what had happened and why I left. She replied and asked me what time I came in? (Does it really matter what time someone comes in, or are clients only greeted between certain hours?) I told her I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment...and her response was the beginning of a very clear understanding of the business model of both the salon (and I use that term loosely) and her as an independent contractor) Our dialog: Alexis: "sorry for that on Saturdays as you can see we are very busy and a lot going on.. I wasn't here at that point yet.. would you like to come back and I will be right at the front waiting for you or reschedule? We all work independently and don't have a receptionist at the desk all the time" I replied: "Well that's the thing...it wasn't busy...there were two stylists...each with one person and one person in a chair waiting...and it doesn't take any effort to greet someone and say "welcome, we'll be with you in a moment"...so the atmosphere there is not comfortable for me. Thank you, but I will pass and find a more professional salon. You might want to consider working in a more professional salon if it's going to affect your business? I appreciate you getting back to me." Alexis: "Its hasn't effected my business or anyones else's here.. some people are just sensitive and can't speak up? I hope you find the place that suits you best. Take care" I replied: "That's an amazing attitude towards new clients. It's not about being sensitive...it's about expecting a business to acknowledge a customer standing at the counter. A customer should not have to ask to be welcomed...and if that is your business model, then I definitely made the right decision. I wish you the best." I think I have written two negative reviews in my life and 100's of positive reviews, but I felt this one was worth sharing. I am from the South, and we believe in being nice and courteous to people. She may be an amazing stylist and colorist, but her customer service skills are seriously lacking. And as an FYI...this "salon" is located inside a Ramada Inn and does not feel like a salon at all. It has a very low-end feel to it...more like a quick clip or super-cut place. As a new person to this area...this was a bit of a culture shock to say the least. Onward and upward!
