I have zero complaints! Booking an appointment is beyond easy, the staff is friendly, the space is beautiful. I needed a haircut BAD and Kim was great. She asked what I wanted and went right to it. I was pleasantly surprised to only pay $65, having gotten my haircut somewhere else in Southold for closer to $80. (The North Fork is expensive and that's just how it is ‍) You can go to the barber shop and pay $25, but I guarantee you wouldn't get the same attention to detail you can get here. Even in corona times, I felt safe. Everyone wore masks and there was plenty of hand sanitizer available. I can't speak to cleaning procedures in between customers, but I trust them. I'm looking forward to going back when I need another hair cut! read more

I've been a client of Main Roots Salon for about 2 years now. Their schedule & location are ideal for the North Fork; it's hard to keep up on appointments with limited scheduling in a somewhat seasonal area. The salon has grown & recently changed locations (still in Southhold proper) adding more stylists, more space and some fun new neons & plants! You can make appointments via MINDBODY App or call & leave a message. I always feel comfortable expressing what my hair needs, feels like & aspires too~this is such a hard thing to achieve. In every profession there's a language & my profession is not hair so, what I think is layered & honey gold is usually just the opposite. Kerry has always listened, translated & delivered. Kerry and her stylists are absolutely amazing! They are extremely knowledgable and friendly. Ive been going to Kerry for years for my hair and I feel so great every time I look at my hair in the mirror. Ive referred several people to Main Roots and their only complaint is not knowing about them sooner! Highly recommend! PS their bridal work is out of this world!!! read more

Where do I begin, this salon is absolutely amazing! The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable in what they do. I absolutely love my highlights and my husband did too, usually he never notices my trips to a salon but he did this time. LOL. Thanks to Kim for my highlights, and Ally for the blow out. My hair looks the best it's ever looked. Also the owner is very nice, asking me multiple times if I wanted anything to drink. A friend suggested this salon, but I was quite disappointed. Although I showed Alicia a photo of what I wanted, she colored my hair in a completely different way that looked terrible. During my first appointment, she spent more than three hours putting highlights and lowlights in my hair, and used a much darker color for the lowlighrs than what I'd asked for. She then used another color for the roots, give me three-tone hair that looked like a cheap highlighting job but was far from cheap! When I went back, she tried to fix it by adding more highlights, but overprocessed and damaged my hair, while still leaving the base color way too dark. I went to another salon, where they had to cut two inches to address the worst of the damage, but it's going to take a while to get my hair looking as good as it did before I went to Main Roots. I will never go there again, they really screwed up my hair! read more

I have been to Main Roots Salon many times for color, cuts, and keratin extensions, and have had a wonderful experience each visit! I am always greeted by cheerful staff who are keen on offering a drink and snack. I have always been seen promptly at the time of my scheduled appointment. The front desk has even reached out to accomodate last-minute openings a few times when i found myself in a scheduling bind. Stylists are knowledgeable, experienced, and attentive to individual needs. As a blonde, I also feel they truly care for the health and my hair and recommend products which are right for me! The atmosphere has a pleasant, trendy, 'current' vibe. Kerry is an absolute sweetheart and always has her client's best interest at heart. I definitely recommend 'Main Roots Salon'.. I always leave feeling pretty! read more
