I lived at Ashwood Valley for one year with my toddler in a fully carpeted apartment. When I moved out, I was shocked to be charged $718 for full carpet replacement due to what they called "staining throughout." These were small, normal marks from daily family life -- nothing excessive or destructive. Despite this, no attempt was made to professionally clean the carpet first and they insisted on replacing all the carpet (which was already 4 years old), then billed me for the 3 "remaining" years of carpet life. I was told if I didn't pay, I'd be sent to collections -- an incredibly stressful threat while moving out of state. I understand landlords have policies, but this felt extremely rigid and unfair. If you're a family or have young children, I urge you to think carefully before renting here. A small amount of normal wear could cost you hundreds of dollars -- even when you leave your apartment clean and lived-in with care. read more

I don't know where to even start with my experience at Ashwood valley apartments in Danbury, CT...... For starters, the ONE GOOD thing we experienced in our time was the response of the Maintenance team. They were undeniably the MOST helpful and were there when we needed them. They are the only glue (literally and figuratively) holding this place together. Now, onto the MULTIPLE NEGATIVE experiences we have dealt with thru the past year. Once we moved in, there was an ample amount of black MOLD in the kitchen. It was on the whole wall, behind dish washer, under the sink and cabinet. It took them 2 months to contact maintenance and "fix" it. There's only so much maintenance can do with the materials given and orders  they receive. A lot of fixes are temporary though. 2 months into our lease, the guy in the unit above had two dogs. Now I live and appreciate dogs, I'm a dog lover BUT these dogs were not well trained and he didn't pay any attention to them it seemed. His dogs barked for 8 hours a day (we waited two month to say anything, trying to be considerate unlike him). He had just moved in, so we figured the dogs were overwhelmed and it would calm down, but that turned out to not occur. We had talked to him and Jordyn, but nothing was ever done about the situation. We came to understand that we talked to the office about the problems occurring AND we find out later one they never put it in their system. We have personally never caused mayhem. We do not blast music and we have personally never had a complaint. We talked to people that have lived there in the past, and they said management doesn't care they will side with the man above (primarily because he was older which to them equals "more maturity") even if he's in the wrong and we dealt with that first hand. We dealt with the guy upstairs running around at all hours of the night keeping us up when we had to be up early the next morning tried reaching out to him ourselves he was very rude and inconsiderate of all the neighbors around him. Talked to the property management about him they said it's not our problem basically even though it says clear in the their contract " being a nuisance is not tolerated" THEIR CONTRACT MEANS NOTHING!!!! This place isn't "luxury living" the only thing luxury about it is the price. Their pool is falling apart people have piles of trash and junk on their patios, people steal mail (which management already knows about and guess what.....THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT), cars are broken into (which management knows about). You can pay all this money and they can't even get cameras in high crime areas on the property. They sent an email saying they asked the town cops to stop by......I've only seen the cops one time within the entire year I work from home. In the first 4-5 months of living in our unit, there were constant bangs and booms coming from the construction taking place in the unit below us. Garbage laid out everywhere. Things with black mold, rusty nails and other dangerous bits were scattered around below. No one could walk near in fear of getting hurt, and the kids park is located near.....how disrespectful and UNSAFE! I emailed Jordyn Galeana to fix the problem and she replied with.... "I walked out there and it's on the porch so they shouldn't be by it" .......I didn't know our porches went 3 feet past the cement. Another EARLY morning we had siding people come at 7am!!!! (Ashwood quiet hours at 10pm to 8am) I emailed management and I received a reply back from Jordyn Galeana saying "actually they were there at 8:30am" .......she didn't believe me until I stated that I had video proof and replied with "Apologies!" ...... She was and still continued to be VERY UNHELPFUL and UNCARING/INSINCERE. Finally, let's talk about their management....Jordyn will get you into the apartments and then will say basically anything to get you to stay. She is unresponsive to engage in problems and actually help put....as it is her job to do so. She claims it's not, but she will never guide you to whose job it is or who to talk to. She doesn't have any type of positive attitudes towards anyone and lacks true customer service. She is rude and "the customers always right", she doesn't believe that. You need to have video and picture proof for her to MAYBE believe you. All in all, save yourself a headache and some money this place doesn't deserve your business. read more

I lived at Ashwood Valley for a little over three years. I'll lead off my review with the positives. I appreciate that it is a dog friendly complex, as Connecticut is generally not a pet friendly state for renters. The grounds are great for walking the dogs, with lots of paths and space. The amenities of the pool, fitness center, basketball court, and community room are all nice. There's plenty of parking, and I never had an issue finding a spot. The apartments are well insulated, and have central air conditioning. The office and maintenance were generally responsive, although I would guess that they were extremely under-resourced by management. They never said anything, but it was clear everyone was stretched. Here is where it fell short for me, and increasingly so as time went on. First, this is VERY much a smoking complex and no effort is made to consider the wellbeing of non-smoking tenants. For two of the three years I rented here, I couldn't sit on my porch or even open my windows b/c the tenant downstairs basically lived on their porch and smoked 24-7. Then a next door neighbor moved in who smoked pot 24-7 and so between the smell of cigarette smoke coming up from downstairs and the smell of pot smoke constantly coming in from next door, it no longer felt like a home but like an unsupervised college dorm. Whenever I raised concerns to the front office, they told me there was nothing they could do about it. Secondly, the apartments themselves need an upgrade. The appliances were all old and were not in great condition. At one point, the dishwasher door wouldn't latch to close and maintenance shoved a piece of folded up paper in it to get it to work. These are not luxury apartments. Thirdly, the expense. Yes, the base rent was reasonable but then you have to add in all these extra's, including a water bill that somehow managed to be the exact same amount every month ($100 for a 1 bedroom with a loft) even when I was out of town on vacation. Also, if you are a pet owner, please know that the non-refundable $500 security deposit and monthly pet rent is not allocated towards any damages in the apartment at move-out. They literally just take that money to have, which has never been my experience at any other complex. There is a lack of storage, and even the limited storage rentals on site are really small, so be prepared to add on the expense of a storage unit if you need storage. By the time I moved out, I felt the environment there was not designed to ensure wellbeing of tenants but the focus was an overemphasis on policing and monitoring things like the garbage (they have camera's up there and nowhere else when safety is a real concern), and it didn't feel remotely like a home. It was really stressful, especially given the expense to live there. The move-out was not pleasant. For example, I got a call saying I didn't pay my last few days of rent when not only did I pay it, but I paid it early. That was followed by an unprofessional "Collection Notice" sent via mail for $200 of damages. No invoice ahead of time, they went straight to collection notice. I was not trying to avoid paying it, I was simply waiting for an invoice. So while there's a lot of potential here, management needs to invest in the apartments themselves and ensuring that their good tenants want to stay rather than leave. read more

actually don't know what else to say about this place other then such an amazing experience ! Since day one Courteny was just amazing sweet and I only had to choose the apartment and she made my life so easy ! Not to mention how amazing and sweet everyone at the office is every time I need anything or have to ask they were so amazing and helpful ! And kai who always helped me with anything I needed at my apartment if broke or need any repair he was always there ! I love them ! I seriously was so spoiled and blessed to have such a blessed and beautiful people here ! Totally recommended is safe and friendly and clean and awesome I am only leaving Bc I am moving to Philadelphia but if I return and need to rent is the first place I will look ! Ps I love you guys . Please consider the following before moving in here , as a current resident (unfortunately I have 6 months left) I'd like to give everyone the heads up as to how things are handled ... * first this is a VERY MUCH SMOKING COMMUNITY the bathrooms and bedrooms smell terribly like marijuana and cigarettes from neighbors downstairs and smoking at windows the smokes rises so that's an automatic no to opening your patio or windows --- management sent one "letter" out lol on how smoking isn't allowed (how amazing I know) * the apartments are old, so expect the ac to break, the toilets constantly overflow, the bathrooms stink like sewage and maintenance says "buy bleach". * took them about 3 months to try and fix the AC unit still breaks down at like 2-3am leaving the house at 80 degrees and you have to call after hours to get assistance ... * you must drive your garbage and recycling to a whole other building not really walking distance that's always full and you have to dump it out yourself if you want to get rid of like lamps, sofas, and stuff like that supposedly you must call a company and pay for them to pick it up ... * this is a no elevator community * the property is located on swamp lands so the amount of mosquitos is real * it is not a gated community so you see random people parked in corner spots smoking and hanging out * they do not send you like a rent invoice you just pay it, oh and they charge you to pay the rent online * my outlets in the apartment are literally all upside down so connecting things is the most difficult thing in the world I'll attack pictures to show you how complicated it is , not even air fresheners * when we first moved in the fridge was broken, the carpets were stained, the toilet was clogged. And the ac filter hadn't been changed since 2018 we moved in Jan 2020 * parking is first come first serve which isn't that terrible read more

Very expensive to live here, costs an arm and a leg. Also, if you want to have a pet here, get ready to pay a significant amount more ($600 initially, plus $55 a month per pet). The maintenance people are very efficient and will help you within 48 hours, but you need to find maintenance! Do NOT call the front desk and ask them, they will not tell maintenance your request! Another thing I found to be extremely obnoxious was that maintenance people (hired from outside Asheood) come in to apartments beginning at 9 am and make a crazy amount of noise. For someone that works the night shift, it messes up everything. I've called the main desk before to ask them to hold off on the construction within my building at such an early hour, and I explained my job, their answer was simply, 'sorry.' Please note that this has occurred on more than one occasion. The biggest let down, for me, were the people sitting at the front desk. I found them to be extremely rude and very inefficient. When a problem arose it always took a spot on the back burner. They give absolutely no consideration to that fact that these are our homes, this is just where they work. When we lost water because of a pipe burst, it took them well over 48 hours to fix the issue. Leaving residence without any running water; no showers, no laundry, no doing dishes, and no cooking. They offered absolutely no compensation for this incident, and could give no answer as to when this issue would be resolved. When asking for improvements they could add to the community, they simply said no. For example, the speed bumps! If you have a lowered car, you literally cannot bring your car here, the whole bottom will scrape. When asking for this to be changed, they laughed and said you must take them slower. My car still bottoms out literally going 3 MPH. I would not recommend this complex as a place to live, and if you're already living her, I suggest leaving when your lease is up! All in all, I'm just happy to say that I am moving away from this place. read more

It's a bittersweet moment to be leaving The Ashwood Valley family. We lived there for 2 years and built many memories. The apartments are roomy and the bedroom has a great walk in closet. It's nice to have the pool, gym and basketball court there as well. Melissa has been wonderful to work with as she knows everyone and their pets by name and is always willing to help as much as she can. It is very hard to say goodbye we made friends with our neighbors and our dog will miss taking walks around the area. Who knows maybe one day we will be back :). i wish i could give no stars because thats what this complex deserves. Sandy the office manager is highly incompetent and condescendingly dreadful human being. She talks down to the tenants depending on the day she's having. Theres no sense of privacy either; I went to retrieve a package from the office and it was opened on account of they were checking it for "safety reasons". the apartments are hollow. it feels as if you are roommates with the other occupants because you can hear everything that goes on upstairs and next door to you. Due to previous owners being smokers there was residue and faint smell of tobacco in the apartment. Appliances are subpar and dated. For any renovated apartment they require a large payment which should be included for example the refrigerator did not have an ice maker. The biggest turn off of all was their low tolerance to the fact that i had a child and would be quick to send me Kappa notices without speaking to me first to hear my side of the story. The non-surveillance of the gym means that outside guests come in yet the staff will blame the teenagers on property and threaten to call the authorities on them. This used to be an amazing place to live in until new management came in and ruined the integrity of this housing community. read more

I second the awesomeness of Melissa in the office. Sandy and Courtney however are not as great. We were supposed to get our carpets cleaned when we renewed our lease and it still hasn't happened 5 months after. The washing machine spits blue goo and the dryer takes three hours to dry just a pair of jeans. We asked Sandy in January of this year to get the garbage disposal fixed and crickets. It's never worked. She's so condescending. The handle has come off the fridge. New neighbors downstairs play music so loud it makes our furniture vibrate, but Courtney said we shouldn't complain because they have to have fun too. Christmas eve the music was going until 1am. I cannot wait for my lease to be up. read more

We visited today to look into lease options- we're just looking so I don't have comments on the living quality however, after meeting with Melissa today we felt it was a strong contender. We truly enjoyed meeting with her, she was very professional and helpful. Great staff member who seemed to know everyone! We passed many people on our tour and all of them enthusiastically greeted her and she had bits of facts for each. She truly cares! We saw two apartments today and liked the options. The basketball court and pool area is such a great perk! We also saw that parking was ample. It was a quiet Saturday but it felt like a nice community. I think it would be good for people to visit it themselves to see how they feel. Reading reviews can be hard when making a choice like where to live- but again we were happy with what we saw today! read more

I would not recommend living here. If you need maintenance, good luck having them fix anything, the office staff is rude and the hallways are loud. There is garbage all over the place, no one picks up after there dogs and people literally throw there furniture out onto the lawn for it to sit there for weeks. They market the apartments as "luxury living" and I don't find it luxurious one bit. Not worth the price or the stress. I've lived here for about 1 year and enjoyed my apartment and the fitness center. The maintenance was responsive and the leasing staff was pretty friendly. However, a few pet owners failed to curb their dogs and my rent went up $35 bucks for my renewal. But hey, I'm cheap. With regret, I ended up going to another apartment complex and I hate it so I will be back as soon as my lease is over. I'd recommend this place. I'm only changing my review from from 4 to 5 stars because I revisited and it seems the apartments have been upgraded. read more

I lived at Ashwood Valley for the last year. I loved living here. As a single girl living alone I felt very safe living at this community. I had a spotless loft when moving in. I loved my living space, it was so cute and spacious. Melissa was amazing throughout my whole year living at Ash wood Valley. She was quick to help with any questions. She was really great. I am relocating to Westchester New York, thus the move. I would live here for many years to come. I also lived in Avalon in Norwalk CT, and I liked Ashwood much better. I also loved the close proximity of apartments to cars. Also, I LOVED all the cute walking paths throughout the apartment building, it felt as if I was as resort walking on all the cute paths. If you are looking for a quiet, afordable and spacious living place, than this place is it. The only bad comment I do have is that the kitchens are out dated compared to competetor apartment buildings. I will truly miss Ashwood Valley! read more

I have lived here a year as of next month. This place is the WORSE!. I have to say I am terribly disappointed. They are not Luxury apartments at all. The place is not kept clean. The staff is VERY RUDE. I try to make my dealings with them as little to none as possible. I have had an issue with my door sticking for months now. I prefer to deal with it, then to contact that office for service. They nickel and dime you for everything. I wouldn't mind the amount of money I spend, if the place was better kept. I can't even begin to tell you about the loud rowdy neighbors that have moved in on my floor. Many Saturday and Sunday nights I don't sleep. It seems like an ongoing every weekend party. This has been a miserable year for me. Did not expect this from them after they advertised the place to be one of the best in Danbury. Coming from NYC, I would say, I beg to differ. I will definitely be moving as soon as my lease is up in a few weeks. NEVER AGAIN. I didn't mention dodging all the DOG POOP! On a scale of 1 to 10, this place doesn't even make the scale! read more
