There's also a Fried Rice section with Nasi Goreng, Thai Chicken Fried Rice, and Special Fried Rice, and a Soup section with Laksa, Tom Yum, Combination Noodle Soup and Chicken Sweetcorn soup. Noodle Luvers prides itself in fresh, healthy, tasty and quick food and they have sections of the menu dedicated to Low Oil (1 tablespoon or less used in cooking) and 97% Fat Free. All dishes can be made vegetarian, which knocks $1 off the price. They also have other popular Asian dishes like Gado Gado, Rendang Curry Beef, Black Bean, Chowmein, Szechuan Chilli and Satay. They really do a wide variety of Asian dishes - a few dishes from every cuisine. That being said, I was expecting less, as I had in my head that this could be the kind of place that thinks being vegetarian is a substitute for being a decent restaurant. Not so, in my experience. You might look at the online menu and think that they wouldn't offer its full scope at each outlet, but they seemed to have a huge variety of dishes, from South Indian to various Indo-Chinese and Indo-Mexican fusion dishes to some random pasta for people who don't like Indian I guess. Being adventurous, I tried some idli (lentil-rice cakes) in a Chinese sauce, which was pretty tasty. Mildly spicy, albeit nothing scary. The vada dipped in sambar to start was solid enough as well. And they seemed to be running a decent restaurant. Between the out-front service and the slightly visible kitchen area in the back, there were quite a few people here actually preparing food, and it was correspondingly good. It was cleaner than a lot of places. It was also evident that they could tell I was in a hurry, and they got out my dishes just in time for me to catch a bus. Probably four star food, but given the low level of service I've become accustomed to at Indian places here (and anywhere really), the overall dining experience was quite good. It's best to mix it in with the udon. The Takoyaki is pretty yummy! It's soft and has real octopus pieces inside. Water, utensils and napkins are all self-serve. Make sure to return your dishes to the "return dishes" area! Oh and the workers are really nice!

The bun bo hue was packed full of different cuts of beef steeped in a mild soup. The noodles weren't pho noodles but rather a more rounded gelatinous noodle that reminded me of a white spaghetti. Overall, it was filling and the soup was all right. However, there wasn't anything particularly stunning about the meat nor the other vegetables that were treated almost as a garnish. The broken rice consisted of the pork surrounded by an egg-meat loaf, fried egg and several slices of cucumber and tomato. On the side, there was also a fish sauce and chili mixture that is drizzled on top. Again the food was ample albeit a bit heavy on the rice but nothing really stood out. The pork was a little dry and the meat loaf just didn't seem to be seasoned. What makes this place average, however, instead of 4-star good is the service. The entrance is small so lining up means queuing up outside. The waiters tend to bark at you to 'come in' or just stare unhelpfully until you find a seat yourself. Getting your order taken is also quite a challenge. Overall, the staff just don't really seem to mind how you get your food as long as it eventually arrives. Bottom line? If you're willing to bear the abuses, Pho Hien Vuong is a good deal for the price.

My other friend ordered the laksa and I will tell you that you'll find incredible laksa in Sunnybank. The noodles were OK but the soup base was just not as spicy and full of flavor. I found it all pretty bland. The eggplant was tough as well. The pearls that came with the bubble tea were sticking together which is never a good sign. As for the chicken rice... ok in my humble opinion, I know a thing or two about chicken rice, so let's break it down: 1. Chicken: The chicken is steamed, and quite tender and juicy. TIck. 2. Rice: made with chicken juices. Tick. 3. Sauces: lacking thick dark soy sauce. Buzz. 4. Pickled veggies: Not sure why they were there, apart from filling an empty slot in the multi-sectioned serving dish. Buzz. 5. Fresh veggies: bean sprouts, not a big deal I suppose, but most places use choy sum. Meh. 6. Soup: At least it looks like it's soup made from whole food ingredients, not chicken powder soup like at some places. Tick. Unfortunately, on arrival, the menu image showed said pork baguette with what appeared to be rounds of Devon ham - so I instead opted for a dry vermicelli salad with grilled pork. The food came quickly but was a little lacking. My pork was grisly and in a big stuck-together clump, whilst the dressing was a little too much on the oil side of the oil to flavour ratio. But it was definitely edible, fresh and satisfactory. Overall, it's alright for a quick lunch meal, but not something I think I really savoured. They also do a range of Asian drinks in the plastic sealed cups, including a yummy coconut juice.

Despite a recent price-hike (hey, it was only around ~$1 for per meal, a fraction of the corkage at a "real" restaurant), this place still pulls lines to the footpath many nights of the week. My usual is the meat & two veg deal (just $8 scores you 5-6 pieces of meat and sauce, plus generous serves of the vege options). As there are normally three vege choices you have to specify your preference, otherwise expect a quick interrogation or be happy with the whim of the lady with the ladle. Expect no frills service here. You collect your cutlery when you pay, and the ladies behind the counter don't suffer indecisiveness lightly. I've sometimes experienced Seinfeld-esque Soup Nazi desperation as I've filed towards the looming till, internally rehearsing my order. But to be fair, on the quieter nights the staff may treat you to a brilliant smile, or an extra hunk of meat in your portion. I recently went in for an early dinner (before the 7 o'clock rush) and saw a tray of brightly coloured sweets out on display. I asked what they were and she told me they were gifts to the customers in celebration of their guru's birthday (his beatific, smiling face is on display in a framed picture behind the counter). She happily loaded me up with freebies, saying I was the first to ask about them. I even received a napkin with my meal, without even having to specifically ask for one - truly a rare event! A sign behind the counter respectfully invites customers to inspect the cleanliness of the kitchen - I've never been game to take them up on their offer. But when your belly's full (and your wallet's not empty) you grow to love Indian Kitchen's little idiosyncrasies.
