This place is nothing fancy, and they do need to do a great deal of work when it comes to their online presence (We can barely find an online menu without resorting to blurry photographs from other patrons) Having said that, this is a solid bet in an area that doesn't really have any other places like it. Not the best, but not the worst I've ever had. Gen Tso's was too sweet. Tasted more like Orange chicken than Gen Tso's. Vegetable lo mein was flavorless. Crab Rangoon has NO CRAB it's just a fried wonton with cream cheese. Wonton soup had a weird taste I can't figure out what it was. The chicken was so dry if you can find chicken and it was so much dry skin . I called them to let them know that this time the food was terrible. Guess what, they didn't even Apologize, he was explaining to me that they always have fresh chicken and maybe it's just dry for me. I told him that I can't even stick fork in chicken and I can bring over and let him test it. Anyway, no apology at all. To start, I'm Asian American and just moved to this area so what this means is that I enjoy both very traditional Asian cuisine (a bit blander/more vegetable heavy/stuff my mom would make) and very Asian American cuisine (more saucey/sweeter dishes). Food review: My husband and I have been back to Asia Star 3 times in recent weeks and have enjoyed our meals every time. My husband is a stickler for their General Tso's chicken, which is exactly how Asian American General Tso's chicken should tastes: saucey, chickeny, with a good helping of veggies. I personally like changing it up so I've done kung pao chicken (very good!), mapo tofu (very spicy but I've never been a huge fan of spice. The tofu is sturdy like mapo tofu should be though), and sesame beef (sweet and perfectly crispy and saucey). For a little extra, we get fried rice which is chewy just the way I like fried rice. We also always get crab Rangoon and egg rolls on the side. There is always enough food for next day lunch leftovers for us. COVID protection review: okay, the folks at Asia Star are ingenious given how quickly they likely had to stand up their restaurant during COVID times. They cobbled together a wooden frame and window into the front of their store so you have to go in and order, put your money through a wooden drop box on the left that they somehow slapped together, then come out and wait for your food. There is still as of this writing, no ability to dine-in, which that's fine with me. One thing I'd love to see them change is maybe some sort of an audible system for you to know when your food is ready like one of those alarms that Shake Shack has. But they do a good job of estimating how long your food will take (usually 20 minutes for us), so we go into Weis to bide our time, then we come out to get our food. Recommendation: the 6-feet spaced lines outside haven't been post office line crazy long, but I'd recommend getting a menu the first time you go and then calling ahead on your drive over in the future to place your order so you can pick up quickly. All in all, this is one of our two go-to places when I'm too lazy to cook Asian American food. Next time I go back, I can't wait to try the other dishes. read more

This review is from a carryout order from May. I was holding off whether or not to report this, and since the receipt keeps popping up, I take that as an "I should." Our bill came to $56.50 with tax. It was a carryout order and from this receipt we ordered Hibachi Shrimp, Crab Rangoon(6), Plain Lo Mein, salt and pepper shrimp and 1 vegetable roll. When we got home with the order they forgot to put the vegetable roll in. I called, asked the lady, Penny, is the name on the receipt, to check our receipt to see if we were charged for the roll. She reprinted the receipt and read the items and said we were not charged, so I thanked her and hung up. Turns out the receipt was actually tucked between two of the bags. When I read it, I was very disappointed to see that the Vegetable Roll was the last item on the receipt and we were charged $1.45 for it, so Penny, straight out lied. I am reporting this because it really made me think about their methods of cooking, how fresh is the food, do they overcharge, etc. I doubt this is the first lie and won't be the last. So, if you do business here, check your order, check your receipt and make sure you are not over charged. I ended up going back to the store to confront the liar and one of the other male workers boxed up 3 vegetable rolls for me for my troubles. Some of their food is really good and some I wouldn't order again as we all have our own preferences. This location has lost my business. There is not enough flavor in the meals we have had such as the egg foo young. So bland. Most of what we had was either bland or too spicy. Eggs rolls mostly deep fried rolls with minimal stuffing. The Wonton soup is the weirdest I've ever had and not good. They can and should do better. read more

Small local restaurant. Plain strip-mall type. Nice people, pleasant service. We regularly get take out during our self quarantine these last few weeks. Ate in there several times before.
