Everything review is based on context but at the end, it's the quality vs the price. I would say that the quality is average but the price is high. Specifically, some of the sashimi fish was still frozen when eaten and that took away from my experience. Service is good and the ambiance is cozy because it's family friendly. read more

I go here once a week and I have never been disappointed. The owner personally greets my family and interacts with my two young kids every time and those small touches are just so rare. Service is friendly and fast, and the food is always delicious. The decor is exactly what I want from a sushi restaurant! Feels like I'm not in Monticello at all. So glad this place exists an hour outside the cities. read more

We celebrated my sister-in-laws 65th birthday today at your charming restaurant. We had the most engaging server! He was handsome (which never hurts!), beautiful smile and fun-loving attitude. I typically grab a burrito at the super Americano, but I wanted to try this Asian Café since the rating was extremely high. I purchased the chicken lo mein and triple Mongolian delight. The chicken lo mein was pretty tasteless but it was fresh and cooked well. The triple Mongolian delight was so sweet. It tasted like it was dipped in a candy bar. They also forgot the bed of crispy noodle as mentioned on their menu. The eggrolls were pretty soggy and small so the value per eggroll were not consumer friendly. I would just say skip the egg rolls. I just wanted something basic, but these items had pretty neutral flavors and we're not too exciting. I love leftovers, but these are just sitting there. Came here on a busy Friday evening with my daughter. We were greeted and seated immediately. Everyone was friendly and the place is clean. The prices are very decent considering the high food costs these days. We ordered drinks, water and my daughter had a strawberry Japanese soda. Ordered won tons as an appetizer and they were hot and delicious. The sushi came out fast as well. We tried many rolls: Rainbow Narudo, pink pale, lady gaga, a tuna & avocado role. We took sweet doughnuts home for a dessert. The sushi was fresh and presented well. All of it was wonderful and it came on a boat which was a lovely touch! Our server was on top of her game. She was friendly and let us know they were a tad behind in the kitchen, which we didn't notice at all but she was very kind. She was very attentive to our needs and checked on us just the right amount of times. I didn't go in this place with high expectations and I was pleasantly surprised! Service was excellent. Food came out quickly. I got the bento box. I liked my sushi (crunchy Florida roll) and general tso's chicken. Gyoza was decent. I would not recommend tht egg roll. It tastes like those frozen eggrolls from the grocery store. read more

I have never had an experience where a Chinese takeout order does not include rice. I drove 2 hours only to discover that there was none for a very large purchase of food. Even the sushi was light on the rice. Very salty and disappointing. read more

This place is easy to miss, being on the side of a mini-mall off downtown. But it's hard to overlook. Impeccable sushi and sashimi, a variety of sakes served as you like, and all your expected favorites done to a high standard. I can recommend the gyoza to start; the dipping sauce is an umami treat. What a great little Cafe. Custom bento boxes? Get out of town!! What an awesome idea. I really wanted to taste few of the great looking dishes on the menu but I had to try the bespoke bento box concept and it certainly didn't disappoint. I went with General Tso chicken, CC wontons and brown rice and they were all good. The General's chicken was not at all spicy (despite requesting extra spicy) but it was really delicious. I also added some sushi and it was also quite good. I'm going to have to go back and try some of the full order dishes because I watched many go by me that looked incredible. Especially the Mongolian Triple Delight and I think one that was the Szechaun Chicken and Shrimp. The sushi rolls also all looked great. Finally, the staff here was incredible! Having myself in a bind trying to find a good let's say "American Chinese" restaurant in outskirts of town. (I grew up in the US and I love American Chinese food ok!) Asian Cafe is more than just your average run of the mill "Dragon House"; "Flying Panda"; "Bamboo Juice" no sir/ma'am it is not. All the appetizers you could want. It had great soup selections at a great price. All the main courses any other Chinese food place would have... but then. Bam kick it up with some Bento box, how about freshly made hibachi? Sushi bar..? Don't mind if it do. Along with a great imported beer selection. Sake, and wine.. As a first timer and sushi snob I went with a couple rolls and my daughter had a bento box. Having high hopes with the small but well maintained indoor dining area, sushi bar and genuinely nice staff we got our food and I wasn't pleased. Damn. The spicy tuna pretty much wasn't in the 2 ends pieces of the roll and barely any rice to wrap the sushi with. Seaweed poking out in spots and clearly visible through the few particles rice that it was wrapped with. And the price although decent I just thought I would say something. I mean I am paying for it right? The waitress very apologetically agreed as I showed her the roll and a manager/owner came back very soon after to ask if I wanted a refund or another roll. Me being stuffed couldn't eat another roll but I wanted to see if it could in fact be better than the first roll. And POOF! There was a perfectly made spicy tuna roll at my table within a couple minutes. My daughters bento box was great. The soups were tasty and properly made. I'm giving this place a 5 star because it's easy to mess up especially these days and for something this little shouldn't mess up a review it's the expedited customer service that makes up for it hands down. I will definitely be a repeat customer and recommend to anyone in the area! Look forward to seeing you again! read more

I can't say enough good things about Asian Cafe. Their food is fire, I absolutely love their sushi. I've tried some chicken and lo mein dishes as well, which have all been really good. The staff are always very friendly. Whenever I order online, my food is usually ready when I get there; they send you a text as well! The restaurant itself is really cute, they might have to expand someday! Overall, an awesome restaurant that I recommend to all of my friends and family. read more

Everything we had we really good! The wonton soup for $2.75 was hot & delicious. We had salmon, white tuna & a spicy tuna avocado roll. All were fresh & like butter when bit into. It was nice and busy on a Saturday night but we were seated quickly. Really enjoyed my bento box. The spicy crab roll was SO good! Started with dumplings that were tasty. My family raved about their choices of Lady Gaga, Nemo and California roll. Loved the ginger to cleanse palate. Wasabi was fresh. I felt that I received a lot for what I paid. Nice and clean place. A guilty pleasure of mine has always been to hunt down the local "cheap Chinese" spot. These places, while I have frequented them, I would not rate above a 2.5. I went to Asian Cafe expecting nothing more than some cheap Chinese. I was pleasantly surprised. Their food always has come out hot and flavorful. The staff is friendly and I have never encountered an unhappy person there. I have been to this spot now three separate times. Each time I was not disappointed. I just recently tried their sweet donuts. For God's sake, order these suckers! They are phenomenal. Pure deep fried sugar in all the best ways. I knocked off one star because the first time we ordered the bento boxes. My wife's rice was overcooked and the sushi in both, while it did its job, was a bit mediocre. That being said, I understand that bento boxes are not supposed to have the most high quality sushi, and this place does have an extensive sushi menu that we will be trying. Following our trying of the sushi menu, I would be willing to add that final star. Overall, this place is amazing. If you're craving Chinese and live in the Monticello area, there is no other place to recommend. Great prices, great service, great food. Might I also add that every time I have gone I have done carry out. Never had the food been late or cold. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed. Update: Wife and I finally went and got sushi for dinner. It was incredible. I wanted it to tuck me into bed and tell me a story, but I realize that would have been an impossible task since there was only one place this sushi belonged: MY BELLY! We each got the Maki Dinner Combo, and each bite was bursting with flavor. My favorite of the three rolls my combo got me was the spicy tuna. There was this deep fried undertone with this one, but a GOOD deep fried flavor! My combo also got me the miso soup and a house salad. The soup was very satisfying and the salad had an incredible ginger dressing. We have now been to this place several times and the service has always been amazing. The people there are super nice and really make an effort to remember their regular customers. We will be back many more times in the future! read more

Seriously one of my favorite Asian food ever!! It's super good, well seasoned and always made correct. I've never had an issue hear. Had a hankering for some Chinese food while traveling. Found this place and really liked it. The Mongolian beef was good. Someone else in the group got the orange chicken. It was delicious. The most memorable moment was when my youngest, barely a year old, nibbled on one of my mother's buffet donuts, and the owner's son, about seven at the time, ran screaming toward the kitchen--a foreshadowing of the chaos this place inspires. The true spectacle arrived with the bill. Not only had they charged us for our menu items, but they had the audacity to charge all six of us, including the children, for the adult buffet. When questioned, the staff who had perfectly understood our complex order suddenly couldn't speak a word of English. We told them exactly what we thought of their scam by never returning. A decade later, my son, nostalgic for a childhood he's misremembered, begged to celebrate a chess victory there. Reluctantly, I agreed. While he was away from the table, the lady owner accosted me at the booth, demanding to know why we'd been absent for so long. I looked her dead in the eye and said, "It's prime supper time on a Friday night, and you have two customers. We told you we didn't like being ripped off; we told you with our feet." Now, with that son grown and moved out, I made the fatal mistake of giving them one final chance. Some things never change. The food was as mediocre as ever, but the audacity had been refined into an art form. I was billed for sixteen wontons and received a paltry four. When I called to rectify the mistake, the same delivery service they proudly advertise suddenly became unavailable. They can deliver your food, but they can never, ever deliver on their promises. A perfect record of failure spanning ten years is almost impressive. Save your money and your dignity; this is a place that sees customers not as guests, but as marks.

Truly disgusting. The egg rolls are mediocre, frozen rolls you can buy at any supermarket. Ditto on the sweet and sour chicken which is nothing more than frozen chicken nuggets tossed in bottled sweet and sour sauce.
