    Pork and seeds
    Dani S.

I have driven by this place a handful of times and today was the day I decided I needed to check it out. Chinese food, good Chinese food is hard to find in the valley. Maybe cause I grew up in the industry and I lived in Chinatown but I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant in this area that completely blows my socks off. So, coming here I was going to be optimistic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in, this venue is tiny. There are a handful of tables. There's back stock of boxes in the windows of the restaurant. It's pretty congested for a tiny dining area[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We were instantly greeted by the sweet little girl that was working, she had to be in her teens. She reminded me of being stuck at my family's restaurant working in the summer. She told us to pick out a table so my daughter and I sat at a booth. As usual, I checked out the online menu. My daughter took a minute to breeze over the menu. We figured out what we wanted and got orders squared away. I got pork and seeds with hot and sour soup. My daughter got the Mongolian beef dinner combo. My pork and seeds came out first. I appreciate how thick and big the slices were. The hot mustard was extra hot today, it burned so good, it did a great job cursing clearing out my nasal passages. My hot and sour soup came out shortly. My bowl is pipping hot! I have had piping hot but this bowl was out of the wok hot. I took my first bite and realized my soup was made to order cause I burned my mouth on that first bite. It wasn't sitting in a heated pot ready to be served, it was fresh! The soup was thick and it had nice ribbons of egg. There were also chunks of tofu, bamboo and chicken. It was very flavorful with a little kick. Honestly, if it just had a few more bamboo shoots and a hint more vinegar, it would have been perfect! But for my first time, it was pretty tasty! The only thing I tried off my daughter's plate was the egg roll. It was a thick egg roll with a good amount of filling in the middle. I appreciate how big the egg roll was. It's been embarrassing eating egg rolls in the area and the egg rolls are so skinny. There was substance to this egg roll! I love pairing the egg roll with the sweet and sour sauce. Sweet and savory is my favorite combo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This joint isn't the prettiest or the neatest. It's your basic mom and pop shop[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. But if you're looking for decent Chinese food in the Star area, Asian Wok is your joint. They are about a 20 minute drive from my place and I'm happy to drive it. Everything closer to me hasn't really made me want to go back but I'll head back to this joint. The little server was sweet and they push out decent food. I look forward to going back and trying other goodies off their menu.

My family got take out for the first time. This piece of metal was inside the steak and shrimp dish. I was lucky enough to find it in my mouth before swallowing it! I pray there wasn't another one that I did swallow!

Orange chicken (sauce comes separate) so you can air fry leftovers. We had cashew chicken and Orange Chicken. I

Read some mixed reviews so wanted to try this for myself. I loved the cashew chicken. Generous portions. My husband had the orange chicken and like it too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly mom and pop vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Auntie had the spicy beef and pork fried rice with a spring roll and tea. She loves this place!

So hubby and I took Auntie to our favorite Chinese restaurant. She had the spicy beef and pork fried rice with a spring roll and hot tea. She loves it here and the food is always hot and delicious. Staff is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant is always clean and welcoming.

Possible freezer burnt mandarin chicken with un-edible breading and dry fried rice.

Went here in a pinch on Christmas Eve because all other restaurants had a 2 hour plus wait. I understand why this one didn't have a wait

Food was poor quality, tough chicken, tasteless fried rice. The best thing about was the price.

After countless places that just didn't quite hit the mark, we're thrilled to say: we finally found it at China Palace! We've driven past this little gem countless times while heading down old State Street, always remarking, "We've really got to try that place someday." Well, last night, someday finally came--and we're so glad it did. From the moment we walked in, it felt like stepping back in time in the best way possible. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with that nostalgic charm you just don't find much anymore. The menu had all the classics we were hoping for, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious--full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and served in generous, hearty portions that left us with leftovers for the next day (which we're not complaining about!). What truly elevated our experience, though, was the service. Rebecca took care of us, and she was phenomenal--friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel right at home. It's rare these days to find that kind of thoughtful, personal service, and it made a great meal even better. If you're looking for a no-frills, truly authentic Chinese dining experience with great food and warm hospitality, we highly recommend giving China Palace a try. It might just become your new go-to spot too.

Get ready to tantalize your taste buds!…read more I visited this place on an early Sunday evening around 5 p.m. It wasn't too crowded, but it was bustling with DoorDash orders. I was introduced to this spot by DoorDash, and I was eager to try the restaurant for the fresh-cooked food experience. The hostess greeted me right away and showed me where to sit. Since I had walked over 2 miles to get here, I wanted to be seated rather than at one of the bar tables. If you're a fan of Thai food, this might just be your favorite place in Boise! It's got a nice vibe, and I noticed that the tables and chairs are cleaned after each visit. Everything is very clean and classy, even the restroom. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, but not too flashy. Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp 5/5 Spring mix, cucumber, carrot, cilantro, mint, rice noodles, and avocado wrapped in rice, served with peanut sauce or spicy Thai seafood sauce (add Shrimp for $2 extra). These are like a delicious, fresh, hand-held salad wrapped in rice paper. They're not fried, but fresh my favorite way to enjoy them. They also have Crispy Rolls, but I prefer the fresh ones. These are especially great on a hot summer day! They come with two dipping sauces: a peanut one and a lemony butter sauce. I know I'm different, but I like the lemony butter sauce instead of the peanut sauce. Pad See Ew 5/5 Stir-fried flat rice noodles with egg, carrot, broccoli in sweet black soy sauce, with your choice of meat. I tried it with seafood once and with veggies and beef another time. Always delish! Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) 3/5 Stir-fried flat rice noodles with green bean, bell pepper, Thai herbs, chilies, and basil, with your choice of meat. I've had mine with chicken, but this one's my least favorite because I thought some of the pieces were a bit too dry. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I didn't eat a few because they were tough. Since it was my second time, I didn't want to complain then, but maybe I should have mentioned it. Mistakes happen to everyone, so sorry for not bringing this up sooner. Slice of Cucumber Salad 16 oz 5/5 Thinly sliced cucumbers, red onions, and carrots, usually dressed in a light, sweet, and sour vinaigrette. This is a favorite of mine. To me a unique recipe! Fried Wings 5/5 Nice crispy, tender, and nicely fried chicken. Deep fried marinated Thai-style bone-in chicken wings served with sweet chili and sour sauce. So tender and juicy, yummy! Coconut Shrimp 5/5 Deep fried coconut shrimp served with spicy mayo sauce. Freshly made Sangria 5/5 Cold and delicious. The Game Changers: I appreciate that you can review your order before paying. I like the digital system, and what's more important, they ask for feedback right away. I think that's pretty cool and admirable. They want to know upfront if they've done anything that made you have a bad experience. I also like that they're linked up with Toast for loyalty reward points. Basically, for every dollar you spend, you can get a reward. I really think this is a great feature that the restaurant has that I haven't seen anyone comment on, but to me, it's a great benefit for the customer. Don't worry if you don't have a Toast account; I believe you can get one at their checkout process by providing your phone number. I already had a Toast account, so I might be mistaken. Just ask at checkout, and they will explain to you. They sanitize the tables after each use. They have chopsticks. The owners are from Thailand, and they have a great kitchen staff. The kitchen team includes Chef Wan and Chef Pronyanee. Chef Wan and Chef Pronyanee come from the northern province of Thailand. Chef Pitsy (Owner) is also from the northern province of Thailand. The restrooms are super clean. So customers and staff can wash their hands and keep the place as germ free as possible. I have gone to the restaurant three times so far and I think it's the one of if not the best Thai restaurant in Boise! (I haven't been to them all) As Arnold Schwarzenegger, character in the Terminator movie would say," I'll be back."

CLOSED as of July 30, 2025…read more A couple originally from Portland (I think I have the city right) opened their kitchen offering take out only (delivery in limited area) Cantonese food that was pretty good for what it was. They operated out of one of the 17 ghost kitchens in what was the former CRAVE! Delivery kitchens in maybe 2024. (Honestly, the original owner of this original ghost complex added the naming emphasis but the original line up and the one that followed was a terrible disaster.) Now the owner of the ghost complex is apparently going to sell it. My understanding from the Wei people is they are closing now, they plan to travel (including China) for a while. Hopefully they'll come back and be able to open a bricks and mortar place. PS - Mai Thai that was also operating a take out operative from this same ghost complex after the kitchen fire and closure of their restaurant in downtown Boise announced earlier this month that they were leaving this ghost kitchen complex on July 27 and reopening in a Boise ghost complex. They didn't mention that the Meridian complex was being sold.

The generals chicken was soggy and perhaps it'd be better not to mix the sauce with the chicken, the other two dishes left something to be desired as far as I was concerned because the chicken pieces were too large like two slices and made vegetables were also large chunks. Overall flavor was acceptable. I guess the presentation was a biggest problem.
