Too many cities and towns across the nation have suffered loss of their central grocers, with none to replace them *nearby*. (A WalMart on the far outskirts of town does not count.) Bravo and kudos to these folks. The store is spiffy clean. It's well-stocked and organized. Also, special displays don't block aisles (and customers) to shout "Look at me! Buy me!" as now happens in too many grocery stores. Hate all that clutter: Makes it harder for people to get past one another in aisles. Stores that do that are using grocer- (instead of customer-) centered marketing. Most workers efficient and helpful, though there can be a little longer wait at the service desk than at other grocers. That's partly because more customers need the special services offered there (e.g. check cashing). All groceries I bought there have been fine, although I have avoided the fresh meat because other people have said to avoid it. But pre-packaged processed meat there (like hot dogs, bacon) have always been fine. Dairy too.

I grabbed a bulk package of miso soup quick-mixes, rice wine vinegar, spring roll wraps in a couple sizes, and some dipping sauces.

Serious food safety issue--selling melted food which supposed to be stored at frozen temperature…read more I purchased two boxes of Kaiser Chicken Puff Pastries from the freezer section here yesterday (July 2nd), and it was a massive disappointment and a major health hazard. When I opened the boxes immediately after getting home, the pastries inside the sealed plastic liners were completely melted, ruined, and clumped together into raw dough lumps. Because this is a raw chicken product that requires an absolute cold chain, selling it completely thawed out of a display freezer is incredibly dangerous and poses a severe food poisoning risk. The store staff never mentioned a freezer breakdown or a cooling failure when I checked out. It seems like they are knowingly or carelessly keeping temperature-abused, compromised inventory on the shelves.

First, and foremost, the staff was so kind, patient, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. I don't think I've had anyone help me in-store EVER as this lady did. She was a great problem-solver (I love dried mango flavor in things, but am a TOTAL zero flames so even if chili is the last ingredient, it's too spicy for me. OPE.). My curry-making problem is now solved. THANK YOU! Second, this small store is like a TARDIS or Mary Poppins' bag. Each aisle is packed to the brim with treasures. We were in somewhat of a hurry, but honestly I could spend quite a while there (and know that if I have questions, I will learn solutions). There is a LONG wall of freezer things that looked enticing - our daughter got a box of 22 (!!) frozen samosas, which she loves. There is fresh produce in back, more refrigerated things, shelves and shelves of deliciousness, and my very favorite, a WHOLE section of spices and spice mix. There were many things unfamiliar to me, which I can't wait to try. The beans and rice selection is quite thorough. The prices are excellent. HOW did I not go here before? Hope you enjoy it, too.
