Usually that was the length of my visits, and I only saw him every 3 months. But I thought (foolishly) that he just knew us all so well.... the first red flag was him FORGETTING that I had an eating disorder, something I had told him on my initial visit. The final straw was telling him that I was planning on getting pregnant, and him thinking that he would basically have to meet my husband to decide if I was ready to reduce my medication further and have a child(!). I was so shocked I did not know what to say, but I texted my husband to confirm I was not crazy to feel this way, and wrote him a letter expressing my feelings. I'm embarrassed that I was so naive. But I needed to tell my story. I would recommend going to anyone else. This doctor needs to have sensitivity training.

I explained that I was looking for a provider for a friend and I had already spoken to another neuro-psychologist who explained that there are a lot of differences in neuro psych assessments and highly recommended that I ask other providers about this before deciding which one to make an appointment with (the provider who gave me this information was too far away for my friend to see). I also called another office and learned they were not taking new patients but the owner/psychiatrist there spent quite a bit of time on the phone advising me how to best help my friend. I actually offered to pay him for his time with me since he spent a significant amount of time educating me but he refused to take any payment. These experiences really highlighted how differently Rittenhouse Psychiatric operates and also highlights how focused they are on money rather than patient care. They even tell you on their general voicemail, before you even have an opportunity to speak to anyone, about their requirements for credit card up front since they don't accept insurance. Seems super creepy to me.

I was in a bad situation, really needed help, as in URGENT, my boyfriend at the time had been talking about committing suicide. I had no idea how to handle it, being new to PA and didn't know any of the regulations for emergency hospitalization. I called and left an urgent message for my therapist in order to see what my options were and how to get him help. My call was never returned and the suicidal threats continued and got worse. A month later, I had a shotgun in my face and he was telling me he was going to end my life. When I called to get in for an appointment, I explained what had happened and the receptionist's response was: "Hmpfh". Shortly after that I was dropped as a patient. That's about as simple as I can put it. I truly feel that this practice is in business for the money and not to genuinely help people who are struggling and need it.
