Personally I think $7 and up for a coffee is a bit overpriced in Merced. Plus, they charge an additional $1.10 for substituting oat/soy/almond/coconut milk. Was in town visiting a friend and wanted to visit a local coffee shop. A few of Asip's location was on my list. Interior is open and beautiful. Came in on a modestly warm, sunny afternoon. The cafe was filled up with people sitting, working, or hanging out with their friends. They are dog friendly as I saw a bonded pair, very calm and just observing their environment. That's a win for me. The menu was straightforward and a case full of pastries that looked delicious. My order was an iced Rose Latte with oat milk. The barista working (there was only 1) didn't seem friendly or welcoming. I think he was tired, a bit unhappy and over with the day already even though it was barely 2pm. Waiting took awhile but since it was only 1 person working (taking orders, making the orders), it was understandable. The rose latte came out so pretty. Although, I think it was overfilled with too much ice since some spilled over on the counter and as I was walking my drink back to the table. I was leaving a trail of coffee on the way! Besides that, the coffee was good. There was not much of a floral rose flavor. It was subtle. Overall the coffee was delicious, had a bit of brown sugar tasting notes but I'm unsure. Been coming here for years and even when it used to be downtown. Service and drink quality has gotten really hit or miss. I feel like there was a change in staff. If you get the dude with glasses who has been here forever, you are in great shape. The drink will legit be amazing. Most anyone else is either good or fine. There is a new young man with nail polish and he is kinda slow or the quality of the drinks is just, bad, frankly. The ambiance and atmosphere is great. We haven't been in town for a few years. We really enjoyed the new location. David and Luna were very personable and we enjoyed chatting with them while we were waiting for our pour over coffee. The coffee was really enjoyable. We also ordered a blueberry lemon muffin with some kind of lemon filling. It was excellent! So, I love this place very much. I can't talk much about the drinks here because all i get is the white mocha regular milk every time I come. What I can say about this though is that they are very consistent when it comes to making my drink good. Most places lack consistency and I can say they are not a place that lacks this. I also get their pastries the croissant, nutella croissant and the blueberry scone. All are very delicious especially the nutella croissant now that one is fire. The workers are great and so is the vibe of the restaurant. They are always nice and greeting you happily. They also keep this place very nice and clean. got off work and wanted a treat and asked the guy with glasses at the counter which he drink he preferred from two options because I only have come in a few times and he looked annoyed and he was like uh what do you mean do you want me to describe them to you with attitude, at that point I didn't care for his opinion I said never mind just wanted to see which you preferred, chose one then he asked me generic questions about the size and what not then gave me my total and I usually get a macaroon so I had to say can I order something else please. The drink was alright usually get milk substitute but forgot due to the interaction above. The syrup was very clearly sitting on the bottom of the drink was just okay idk maybe my experience affected my perception of it because usually love their stuff when I have tried something. Idk to the guy, you do work in costumer service just lie and say you like one over the other or something but yeah. I try to be kind and whatnot so I haven't ever had that kind of experience before.
