I rarely leave reviews, but felt this experience warranted one because I was genuinely excited to visit this place after passing it multiple times and seeing so many positive reviews. I finally decided to stop in with my 5 y/o son. The outside decor and ambiance were adorable and the merchandise had fun designs. Unfortunately, the interaction with the owner completely changed the experience. He seemed irritated from the moment I ordered a hot chocolate for my son, correcting me in a rude and dismissive tone that it was "hot cocoa" and annoyedly asking how many I wanted. I said one and then asked if they had a menu so I could see what type of coffee they offered. That simple question also seemed to frustrate him and he dismissively responded, "It's just coffee," while shaking his head. His overall tone came across as arrogant, annoyed, and dismissive over normal questions, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I was shocked by the attitude, especially from a business owner. Maybe he was having a bad day, and I do see many positive reviews, but I also noticed other reviews mentioning similar experiences with the owner. It's disappointing because we were really looking forward to trying this place. I ended up saying never mind and leaving. My son didn't understand why we walked out without getting what we came for and I explained that I didn't want to support a business where customers are treated rudely. I truly hope the owner is doing okay and is able to treat customers more respectfully in the future because it seems like there's a great product behind the business. Okay way different than I was expecting. I feel like i was misled by social media so i am here to provide some actual insight. this is a coffee roaster NOT a coffee shop. It is decorated cute from the outside, but the inside is like a shack. they have merchandise to purchase but everything is dusty. We were greeted by the dog who was sweet, but the man working there pretty much told us to be careful when petting him because he may turn on us... When we entered, i did not feel welcome. The man working made me feel uncomfortable. When i asked if he had a menu, he said he had been doing this 36 years without a menu. fine. so we said we wanted something iced. He didn't tell us anything about our bean options, just picked some beans out of a glass jar and disappeared for 10 minutes. He finally came back with ONE coffee even though 5 of us were standing there. We asked if we could get three more iced coffees like that, and he said that was elder abuse because we waited until after he returned to ask for 3 more. So he disappears again, and we hear him using an ax or hammer to get the ice. Then my friend asked for sugar and again he made it a big ordeal. He said she had to follow him into his home for the sugar. When she entered the home, he said my wife is going to be mad at you for waking her up. So we finally get the sugar and pay. The coffee is okay but he put way too much cream. One coffee had a bug and two had a hair (possibly a dog hair or because he gets his ice from a painters bucket). Maybe it's better when a different employee is there but this was like a living nightmare i couldn't wait to get out of there and i kept one foot out the door at all times so i could run. read more

Don't go here if you're a "local". We moved to the area not too long ago and had been wanting to try the place thinking it was a local equivalent of SB and we like to support our community. Well, let's just say, we will not be returning. From the "looked down his nose at me" when I ordered a latte, to the "we really don't like it when the locals come and just hang out". My husband did order something he recommended and we did sit outside and enjoy the sun while he drank it, but we will not be back and would not recommended this place. He shared the story of how he started the business over 35 years ago and explained his roasting process with such passion and detail. If you ask, Gerry will happily let you smell different beans, which was a fun way to compare the unique aromas. They don't do tastings, and it's worth noting this isn't a café -- they don't serve coffee drinks here. Instead, it's all about the beans and the craft behind them. We ended up taking home five different varieties because it was impossible to choose just one. After driving by the Mariposa Coffee Company on the side of Highway 49 between Oakhurst and Mariposa several times, I had to stop by to check them out. The parking lot was huge, and nearly empty. It wasn't immediately clear which building was meant for coffee sales. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was an incredible aroma. It smelled like cocoa and amaretto. Behind the first building was a second building, where bean roasting demonstrations appeared to take place. Behind this was a building that looked like a house. I looked around for a coffee menu, but didn't see one. I wasn't sure whether they sold hot coffee, or just bags of beans. After waiting for a few minutes without seeing anyone, I started to leave. As I was walking to my car, a man yelled, "Wait, I'm coming!" I was thinking, "Wow, this would never fly in the city." (For like, *so* many reasons.) "Can I help you?" I felt bad leaving after he had sprinted for me, so I said, "Yeah, I just wanna get one of those Alternative Baking Company cookies." He told me that they were a big seller among local teenagers after school, and that he would never raise the price, even though he was only charging a nickel more than he paid. So, I've been a huge fan of these cookies for about half my life now. I always look for new flavors, and rarely find any. But here I found an Amazing Apple Cinnamon cookie. It was sooo good. To be fair, I still haven't tried the coffee. But I would stop by again for the cookies alone. read more

Honestly.... just come... don't question it... just come and visit the Mariposa Coffee Company. This wonderful spot has some of the best coffee I've ever had with owners and staff that I just appreciated. The young lady who helped us the first time was so amazing, and the owner ws just as amazing as a good cup of coffee with a little bite lol. They have a couple of amazing pups there as well who are just love bugs. We went there on two of our trip and got a couple of half pound bags... and that did it... we were sold... and before we left, we left with like 8 bags and a bag if hot chocolate. My family and I saw this hidden gem on the way to SF. We decided to stop and visit. Cute spot that reminded me of my grandparents house and visits to the countryside. Not a coffee shop; mostly a roaster. They are willing to brew you some via a pour over. The lady was really nice, and explained all the roasted coffee that they carried. If you buy some, they won't be able to provide vacuum sealed bags, you know it's fresh because their beans are warm to the touch. Visually, the place looked like an old farm. As she was explaining her coffee, she explained that they also sold their coffee online and through some grocery stores, and in my opinion, that is probably the best way to get their coffee is probably through one of these avenues as the main location is a bit out of that way from the main street of Mariposa, and when I visited, I wasn't told about much to see or experience by visiting, but I did read on a company blog that roasting demonstrations are offered. But I did visit close to closing as I went on the way out of Yosemite; I only learned about them through their donation of coffee to the Yosemite Climbing Association's Facelift event. read more

We obviously had to come in; we could smell the coffee beans from the road!! We pulled into the lot & were greeted by their sweet family dog. Make sure you keep your eyes open when you come here because you can easily miss the driveway around the turn. They used to have a little building with second hand items and furniture but covid times caused that part of the business to close down. They are a local coffee roasters and they ship all over the US. I think outside also. So I used siri to get some of the flavors they had since friends and family love their coffee. We got snickerdoodle and toasted almond. The toasted almond was so good, didn't even need flavored creamer. I drown my coffee with flavored creamer and sugar most of the time. You get to talk to the owner Gerry??? , very cool dude,and see him roasting coffee beans.. They sell trinkets and apparel and this ice cream mix he swears by ( will have to try)...
