When he opened his own shop I was on board. I have been dealing with John over 10 years, and have very few complaints. Pros: Honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, and reliable. When you take your car for an estimate John will let you know all your options. He is not the type of mechanic to add a bunch of unneeded work, and extras. Cons: It's just John. You may need to wait a few days to get an appointment, and because of his busy schedule, you may need to purchase parts for the work. I like buying my own parts. It allows me to see what they actually cost, and helps me to know there are no hidden fees. This may be a turn off to some customers. I would recommend getting into a habit of learning what labor, and parts cost. You'll save lots of money in the long run. John works on most makes, and models, but if you are a Volvo owner in the Attleboro area, making friend with John is a must.

Anything else is a waste of time. I went in recently- Well, I tried to, at first. There are plenty of doors to this place, all of which are locked. One of the bays is open from time to time, but all of the traditional doors are locked tight and nobody is ever there. After trying the conventional doors, I finally waded into the garage and called out several times before the lone mechanic emerged from the far side of the most distant bay. I tried to explain my problem and interest in having him look at my car, but he seemed totally uninterested. I'm not sure if it was my heels, my short skirt or just the fact I was female, but he was incredibly condescending. As the daughter and granddaughter of a mechanic, with years of experience working on my own cars before moving to Boston, he was incredibly flippant, unprofessional and sexist. Not only did he refuse to look at my car, he was incredibly leery and unprofessional. This is a hobby garage and nothing more. This is a terrible garage. I would never recommend it to anyone.

if i had a kid in boston, i would INSIST that harry was the only mechanic working on their car…read more why? because he treats it like every car that comes in his daughter's car and goes above and beyond to make sure it's safe. it doesn't matter what you come in for - he's going to check your tires, top off your fluids, put the car on the lift and inspect the brake lines, hook up the compressor and blow all the leaves out from under your hood, etc. now i'm fairly capable when it comes to car stuff so i don't go to harry because i need babying. i go to him primarily because he does quality work at a fair price, but also because i'm interested in car maintenance and harry not only tolerates, but encourages my "what's that do? why'd you do it like that? what happens if we did this? why can't we do it that way instead? what was that thingy called again? can i try?". now i personally like going and hanging out, but if you want a quick in-and-out then harry's not your guy and you should probably hit up some corporate chain that won't bother you with things like asking about your family, and remembering your name. wouldn't wanna waste time that you could otherwise spend staring at a backlit screen.

And they honestly don't make anything quite like they used to! We have had some trouble with it over the last year or so, and unlike the last time we had an issue, we decided to ask our family who they take their cars to, instead of just going to Sullivan Tire down the street. (Sullivan seems like it's sometimes great, and sometimes awful, depending on who happens to be working there at the time.) While my spouse and I are relatively new to the area- 3 years this summer!- our extended family has basically always lived here. They recommended Shepherd's, and I'm glad we took them up on the recommendation. The guys at Shepherd's are very savvy, correctly diagnosing our issue over the phone. We had to have the car towed to their shop, which is luckily pretty close to us in East Bridgewater, and they had it fixed before the end of the day! Our issue was fairly straightforward- a broken drive belt- but the fact that they had us back on the road again so quickly was pretty awesome! In terms of costs, the repair cost exactly what the internet suggested it would! These guys are honest, and I'd highly recommend giving them a call if you have car trouble!

Not having any experience with Shepherd i brought my car in and was not disappointed. The work was done on time and in budget. I was also informed of items I may need but it was not needed yet. After hearing me balk at the price, Matt carefully and professionally explained why doing business with a dealership is worth it. To be honest, I was going to have the work done there anyway but his explanation actually made me feel better about spending the money. During their routine safety inspection, it was determined that my tires needed replacing. Normally, I would not go to a dealership for tire replacement and service but Matt's input on the subject (and a quick call to Town Faire Tire to check prices) resulted in my keeping the car with Coastal. Matt priced out multiple sets of tires, gave me his personal opinion but ultimately let me decide and once again, made me feel good about the decision. As part of the 40 K service includes tire rotation, Matt adjusted the price and even applied a coupon to help me out on the larger-than-expected bill. All in all, I was most impressed and would highly recommend Coastal's Service Department.

The minute I got back to my house…read moreI took a real good look around it and noticed that the front bumper was held on one side with Gorilla Glue and that one of my rims had a huge dent in it and a bubble, I immediately called within an hour of leaving there and getting to my house and explain to the sales manager what I was looking at. I sent him pictures through email but he told me that his detailers didn't notice the dried Gorilla Glue holding my bumper on or the giant bubble on my tire, or the two large dents and scratches on one of my rims. Luckily I shelled out the extra money to get the rim protection package, but it is unfortunate I had to use it right when I got the car home.
