Repairs take forever and the kids working for him, according to him, quit, don't show up, or he lets them go. Just one of his excuses for shoddy work. He doesn't give receipts, loves cash only, never shows the work performed or proof of parts removed or replaced. Even though he quotes what needs to be done, his estimates are all over the place and change according to his mood or what he's looking to make. They can vary by hundreds of dollars. If he doesn't know how to do something, he rigs it. I asked him to clean out my heater box that was filled with leaves and instead he grabs a drill and drilled holes in the floor of my car to create a drain for the water that was leaking into my car. Of course after that, there was a leak in my gas tank. I cannot fill my tank now since it drips gas until it reaches a half tank. Every time he did a repair and stated if I got that done,I'd be all set, he returned my car with more problems. He is very disrespectful of women and thinks calling them "Hun" somehow makes his shady practices more believable. Each job he did, would be quoted as just a couple of hours and he would take him 2 days. A 4 hour job, took 7 days and one of his excuses was "the kid" working on my car lost the parts he took off and no one could find them for days in the garage. When my car was finally returned, of course again I was told, "if you give me cash, I can knock some off your bill." But do not use this guy. He is sloppy, lies, and has a list of excuses for all his messes that always blame everyone else for this nightmare he creates.

I tried to explain my problem and interest in having him look at my car, but he seemed totally uninterested. I'm not sure if it was my heels, my short skirt or just the fact I was female, but he was incredibly condescending. As the daughter and granddaughter of a mechanic, with years of experience working on my own cars before moving to Boston, he was incredibly flippant, unprofessional and sexist. if i had a kid in boston, i would INSIST that harry was the only mechanic working on their car…read more why? because he treats it like every car that comes in his daughter's car and goes above and beyond to make sure it's safe. it doesn't matter what you come in for - he's going to check your tires, top off your fluids, put the car on the lift and inspect the brake lines, hook up the compressor and blow all the leaves out from under your hood, etc. now i'm fairly capable when it comes to car stuff so i don't go to harry because i need babying. i go to him primarily because he does quality work at a fair price, but also because i'm interested in car maintenance and harry not only tolerates, but encourages my "what's that do? why'd you do it like that? what happens if we did this? why can't we do it that way instead? what was that thingy called again? can i try?". now i personally like going and hanging out, but if you want a quick in-and-out then harry's not your guy and you should probably hit up some corporate chain that won't bother you with things like asking about your family, and remembering your name. wouldn't wanna waste time that you could otherwise spend staring at a backlit screen.
