So first impression Mr Dave was very helpful and knowledge over the phone. I initially swung thru on a day but they were closed. The shop is located down New York Ave right down from city hall. Finally made it there on a Monday. A nice lady helped me until Mr. Dave came and took over in assisting me. I told him my issues with my watches and he told me he would have it resolved in about 15 minutes. One of the watches I had the wrong band but my favorite watch, he got it going again. I was so happy so now anytime I need batteries or what not for my watches I will definitely come back. read more

I had a ring that needed repair. Went locally to 2 reputable jewelers in Seattle, both said it could not be repaired. I went on Goggle to see if I could find out about my unusual ring. It was designed by Craig Drake and is called "the mystery ring". It opens and has an inner ring that says "I Love You". That company is no longer in business, but Google led me to Jewelers Repair and Design studio in St. Cloud Florida and Dave Askew. Dave recommended a local Jeweler which would save me shipping it to him in Florida. My ring is now repaired, and I so appreciate Dave's suggesting this jeweler to me. read more

If jewelry design or expert, timely repair is what you need, LOOK NO FURTHER!!! Cyndi was very attentive during the phone call that basically set the ball rollin re a couple of 14k pieces for a revamp/new design. She cared. She wasn't in a hurry to hang up. Just great. Refreshing in this day and age! Dave came over to the counter where Cyndi and I were getting the paperwork started for the revamping of a diamond stud I've had and I wanted to get the post changed to a "Screw Back" design. After showing Dave another piece that I wear around my neck, I told him that I always wanted so-and-so to be a different way than the way I've tolerated it for years. Dave asked to see the chain and the Anchor charm in question. He asked me if I wanted it to be the way I was describing the change to him and - boom, in 30 seconds he laser tacked it in place just to see if I liked it. Dave said if I decided that if I liked it the way he temporarily tacked it, he'd tack it heavily to where it would hold forever. I went in to do a simple battery change on 2 watches. After the batteries were replaced both watches stopped working. I took one of them to someone else to see what happened. I work in coolers sometimes, Dave Askew did not use any sealant on my watches when he replaced the battery and moisture got inside. I brought my watch to what I thought was a professional because I wanted to avoid damage to my more expensive pieces. I could have went to the flea market and they would have taken better care of me. read more

Dave is absolutely incredible. About 4 years back my dad took me there to have Dave do my high school class ring. After looking at everything on display in the shop, I realized how much I WOULDN'T wear a class ring, and how long I would wear just a normal ring with my birthstone in it. Long story short, Dave ended up creating a BEAUTIFUL silver ring, with a decent sized peridot right in the middle. Fast forward three months later, and my perfect ring had bent all out of shape, and it looked like an oval with some dents in it when I took it off. When I brought it back to Dave, he was awesome. He made me a brand new ring, with a stronger silver material, and it hasn't changed shape since! Every once in awhile, I'll stop by the shop when I'm downtown, and Dave will buff out and shine my ring for me while we catch up on conversation. Several weeks ago I went into Askew Jewelers to get advice on some work that I would like done on my ring. I was unsure if it was possible. At that time Mr. Askew indicated that he was able to do the work. After purchasing a loose stone, I returned to the store to have the work done. Mr. Askew now stated that he will "have to pass on doing the work". I made a purchased based on his expertise and now he does not want to do the work. I was new to the area and 3 people told me about this store. My wife's ring needed some major repair and she wasn't wearing it because we thought the stone was coming out. I was a little worried about just leaving it with anyone. After seeing some custom designs they did i wasn't so worried about the repair being done right. They showed me my ring under a microscope and I could see it on a large tv. I could see what they were going to fix, live! It was done by the end of the week and looked great.
