We stopped by for coffee while passing through the area. We were greeted by a small dog and very kind man. He chatted with us while preparing our drinks. This small coffee shop and bookstore is part of the local community church. As we drove off, we realized the kind man was also the pastor of the church. What a servant's heart! read more

Great little place in town! My wife and I had stopped for lunch on our road trip at a local restaurant, and I needed my coffee before getting back on I-40. Found this little spot. It's not a fancy like Starbucks or a chain coffee shop, but they have a little book store/library and gift shop. The owner of it is super friendly! Could've talked with him all day if I didn't need to get back on the road. Only negative......the coffee is so delicious, but for me....being a huge coffee addict, the cups weren't big enough! But what I got was the best coffee I had on my whole trip! read more

After reading good reviews for this place, decided to stop by for supposedly a great coffee and good conversation. Unfortunately, although it's web site said it was open (Tuesday late morning), the place was closed with a hand written sign saying something like "family leave day". The official hours of operation sign still indicated the place was supposed to be open. Disappointed with the lack of good communication towards its customers. read more

The owner is a very nice gentleman. My husband the coffee connoisseur said his americano was fantastic! Prices were super reasonable! The shop is clean and has a couple small tables and some shelves with books! Great atmosphere in a small town! Husband requested a second cup before we left town! read more

I would give this place 10 Stars if I could, Pastor Ron is the most friendly and nicest person you could meet. Was not pushy about his faith at all. I have been fortunate to travel the world and fell in love with Italian coffee's. The coffee at this little shop rival's that. My girlfriend and I bought a few books had a lovely chat and one of the best cups of coffee I've had anywhere. Great little place run by the local pastor. Brevi organic latte for $1.75. Tazo tea $1. Makes almond milk as well. The prices and service are amazing. Well worth the stop & on the way to Carlsbad caverns. Nothing organic east of here till San Antonio. read more

We stopped on our way through to get coffee. We were a little unsure as two lesbians traveling through about stopping at a religious coffee shop. The pastor was super friendly. We felt welcomed, safe, and enjoyed this little shop. We bought a ton of used books and a great mug as well as geodes for our kids. The pastor was friendly to us. We talked about recovery and ministry (we both work in our faith tradition). It was a great stop. The latte is cheap, not the best but under $2. Definitely stop. read more

Wow, such an oasis of cappuccinos and other coffee drinks in this part of West Texas. Good coffee and conversation from a skilled barista. Lots of tips about local events. I've been visiting Marfa for over ten years and each time it seems more commercialized, crowded, and expensive. This shop is typical of the higher end businesses populating Marfa but they had some nice items such as face and hair masks, candles, t-shirts and a fun assortment of unique soft and hard beverages. I felt guilty about only using the bathroom since I wasn't a hotel guest so I bought a hair mask and pretty silk printed bandana (made in Portland). Unlike many of the other places in Marfa, HILIH was actually open on a Wednesday afternoon. Most businesses we tried to visit were closed even though they advertised themselves as being open. This wasn't totally surprising since Marfa mostly caters to weekend visitors. Service was friendly and accommodating.
