Just when you think you've visited the worst Walmart in your life in another town.... whaam! , here…read moreyou arrive at the Walmart in Pecos Texas. Of course pretty much everything in Pecos Texas is overcrowded, run-down and expensive for what they really are. Except for Walmart! You get your standard Walmart prices but you do not have an automotive department, no 24 hours and even longer lines, but you do get to dodge Isles full of inventory that need to be broken down and items put on the shelves. Also, don't let me get started on the 20 plus people deep line because like overcrowded Pecos Texas everybody is trying to pack 10 pounds of crap in a 5lb bag, Walmart is no exception. This is one place that definitely needed to be a super Walmart. I'm going to hate to give this advice to you but the Family Dollar and general dollar down the road put this Walmart to shame. Now that you might have taken this advice, please do me a favor and do not go into these dollar stores until I am done finished and left this piece of a something town. I don't want my favorite places to get overcrowded. Oh, and before I go one more important thing, the parking lot! You think you're from Houston and driving /parking cannot get any worse than those Asians in Bellaire? Yes those people, but these people put the people that Park in Walmart to shame, actually make them look like professionals or something because if you try to come in here with a nice vehicle you can pretty much be assured you will have 6 Vehicles parked around a 4 space to park a lot around you in Every Which Way but Loose. Welcome to Pecos Texas, your misery has only begun.

We tried to go in town at Porters, and we did not find any food that a human being should eat…read more Thanks to this shop, we were able to restock our camper with fresh, organic produce and products in general. They even have a bulk section with a lot of spices, so that was nice. It is a little bit pricey but I guess that's the cost to pay to be autonomous in the desert for a few days. Definitely the best stop you can make before Big Bend National Park.

The new store is a nice upgrade, the prices are higher but looking at the travel to bring Alpine what it needs and the cost of shipping etc... I understand the higher price. This store is a good place to shop if you're in need, if you don't like what's offered then there are other options Dollar Store, Blue Water, and you can even have things shipped! The managers and staff are helpful and kind, personally I am happy with Our Porters, and living in a small town it's a puzzle piece that helps me get by and get the items that I want and need.

It's always a good amount of people at this location but when it comes to the registers it normally flows pretty well. I love how they utilize the workers they have on hand to man the registers so just about all the registers have someone. They now do offer a self checkout section which helps the flow of customers as well. There is a auntie Annie's, subway, western union, ATM, nail shop and a customer service at the front that you can handle your business at. The only negative thing I really have to say is for the electronics section employees, make sure if you are unaware or just simply unsure about something ask rather than telling the customer you don't have it. An employee did that to me and when I left and called they told me they had to look it up, well once they did they really did have it . So it's important to ask other co-workers when helping a customer.

I think I saw one person working. This place could use a good cleaning. I don't blame the employees for the lack of items on the shelves, I blame whoever is in charge there. The aisles that have items are all messed up and there's no way to find things. Part of this is the customers who rummage thru stuff and just throw it wherever, instead of putting it back where they got it. If you really need anything, perhaps you might find it there. Just don't need anything beyond every day simple items.
