This is my first trip back up to the wonderful place which at times is like a second home again, this time I stayed up in Cabin 1 in late May no less, here in Colorado we had very unusual weather for May, especially below freezing temps (like near zero) after Mother's Day and spoiled my view of the Aspens on their late leaving out. But nonetheless I still had a great time and experiences on the trails around the campground and my Service Dog got some very tough training up there because of the new environment which I tend to spend time in. I have to hand it to Doug and Jennifer for making Aspen Acres a real great place to stay. We came up for a quick overnight trip with our travel trailer. They had a fun event going on for Halloween and the teenagers really enjoyed the spooky forest. The grounds are well kept and the staff is super friendly. Easy drive from Colorado Springs in just under 2 hours we got our altitude therapy. read more

An absolutely beautiful place to stay! A little out of the way, but we'll worth the 15 minute drive up the mountain to get a taste of what Colorado is all about. Welcoming hostess and friendly fellow campers made out brief stay a blessing. Defiantly adding to our places to return to. read more

We just came back from a great stay at aspen acres. We rented cabin 1 and cannot recommend it enough, it was perfectly tucked away in the woods and was just the right size for a couple. The campground was gorgeous, the bathrooms were clean, and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful making it the perfect weekend getaway. We came with a group of 2 rvs and the campground host upgraded our party to bigger sites away from other campers at no charge. The host even came over to help us girls troubleshoot an RV issue while the boys were off playing golf. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend getaway this is the place. Don't go to this campground! They put extra charges on your credit card without you knowing! Made up charges...for instance, there was a dirty towel? In the end, they took $150.00 out of my account that I wasn't counting on. That really hurts when you have a strict budget! This has never happened to me before. **** CLOSED and Up FOR SALE*** we have had a great time we have been there last year (our first year camping there). clean campground, clean facilities, friendly staff. we are looking forward to using the dog park with our new addition. we always feel relaxed (and sad) leaving back for reality. my wife loves the fact you guys have hot showers and clean restrooms (go figure). lastly the wifi is a useful bonus though the signal is weak (if any) unless you are close to the office. still it's camping so not a bid deal for me but more important to my better half. ***sad to I just found out this campground is up for sale and will not be open for 2018. . hopefully it will have new owners soon that won't be greedy by raising fees*** read more

We stayed here a couple of weekends ago in June 2020 - so glad we did! Fantastic staff, beautiful property, just down the road from the lake and good fishing. Beautiful hiking trail on the property. So glad to have the dog park for our pets. We are looking forward to coming back and staying in a cabin next time!! read more

These are 100% truths. Cabins are at slant that everything rolls off table. No porch light. Electrical sockets are so bad that plugs won't stay in socket. Cabin 7 support beam is not even under the cabin. No paper towels in bathroom for whole day. SMELL OF RAW SEWAGE outside of bathroom. (!!!! 2 hours BEFORE THE WEDDING!!!) My daughter rented 6 tables and chairs and was told she could use recreation hall for wedding reception. After decorating, he extorted 10000.00 (on top of the 250.00 paid for table and chairs) to not kick the party out. It was so hot in the rec room the icing fell off the cakes. One window was broke. FLIES EVERYWHERE IN REC ROOM. Then!!! Tried to collect 10.00 to park from guests all staying at cabins. THOUSANDS spent and all cabins prepaid. Refused to give us a key to pre paid cabin at the end of the reception because too late. NO AFTER HOURS METHOD TO GET ACCESS TO WHAT YOU PAID FOR. Very sad how greedy this owner is. Very clean campsite and wonderful staff who will go out of their way to accommodate you. We found however the campsites are very narrow and can be a bit uncomfortable if you are wanting to just relax and enjoy the outdoors or star gaze etc. sites were so narrow we had barely enough room for our 9x12 outdoor mat outside of our RV! I also feel that was a bit pricy for the space and small amount of activities on site which were a volleyball net and horseshoes . Also there is nothing for kids to do at this site. Probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Very nice and well kept campground. We took our pets so it was great there was a dog park. They had entertainment at the gazebo, which we truly enjoyed! There is a rec room at the lodge and one night we played some games. There was a wifi code however both of our phones could not find the network and there are no towers until you get to the town of Rye. Not a problem to be disconnected for a few days though and enjoy the mountains! We will definitely stay here again. read more

This place is great! We camped there for the first time over Labor Day, and had a fantastic time! It's in a beautiful area and the campsites are very clean, as are the bathrooms and showers. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They actually will bring any firewood or ice you purchase to your campsite! The prices are very reasonable and you can't beat the surroundings. We totally enjoyed ourselves and very much look forward to returning next summer. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Stayed for 2 days in August 2014. Our site was clean and all the services worked. WIFI was spotty but not a deal breaker for me. I did not use any shower/restroom Facilities so I cannot speak to their condition. Priced at $40.00 a day is steep for what it is. Staff was very helpful and tried to be accommodating when they were available. Very hard to get anyone on the phone so it is best to do your reservations on line if you know you will be staying. It did not meet our expectations at all. No signal at all for phone or WiFi. Had trouble figuring out how to operate the showers at first and when it did finally work the water was lukewarm. They have a whole page of rules one of which made me nervous about not being responsible for loss of money. Sign that it happened at least once. Someone took our picnic table and fire pit so we had to scrounge around for another. We wanted to leave when we got there but we paid $230.00 for five days in advance. Was a real disappointment. It rained every day and when it finally stopped we walked over the store and recreation room. Terrible. Door was locked to store and the owner came down and wanted to know who we were. This was fourth day of our stay. Told her how long we've been there. I did not find her friendly. Her dog was though. Store was a laugh. Every day we said...never again. read more

We started going to this campground in 2011 and loved it. Each year we've rented one of the small cabins that sleeps 4. They have beds, a small table and a couple of chairs, a heater and one electrical outlet. That is no big problem with restrooms, showers and laundry facilities across the street and very convenient. We've always took a couple of grandkids with us. The first year there was a playground and lots of kids around. 2012 the playground was gone. 2013 it had been sold and under new management, but still lots of kids around and very friendly staff. 2014..this past weekend we returned and rented a cabin for 2 days and 2 additional cabins for kids and grandkids or 1 night. The office is now closed 3 days a week. The family atmosphere always advertised is no longer there. Except for a 3 year old and a 4 year old our grandkids are pretty self sufficient. When one goes to the bathroom we usually watch them go from the porch of the cabin and return quickly. They are good kids and don't write their names on the wall in poop. A sign previously absent appeared as soon as we arrived that no children could use the restrooms if not accompanied by an adult. The rec room is rarely used other than a few only due to fact it is the only place the wifi can be accessed. An old piano sits against the wall with a sign saying not to bang on it unless you know how to play. I've never seen it touched. This morning my 12 year old granddaughter, who can play the piano well, sat down and began to play a song. A couple of adults in our group were there listening. As I approached the door to go in and listen the manager stopped me and said for me to stop her because they didn't allow banging on the piano. I wasn't happy, but rather than be combative I said okay. A few minutes later two of the grandkids were sitting on a porch swing in front of the rec room in full view of some of our family adults. The manager came in and told them no kids were allowed on the deck without an adult. As we were cleaning out our cabins the kids were in the field across the street by the restroom building playing. The manager told us the kids had to be supervised when they were were outside. They were in full view and close by. There were no kids there at all other than ours. It is apparent it has been converted to a facility catering only to retirees with RVs and childless couples. It is entirely their own business to run it as they see fit, but they should reflect this on their website. I've spent a lot of money with them over the past few years, and my wife and I had planned to return in a couple of weeks by ourselves and rent a cabin for two more days. We have changed our minds and will no longer stay there. We have recommended them to a lot of friends who have stayed there and enjoyed it. I won't do that again either. read more

Campground is very well maintained and clean. Liked that all sites are full hookups! Did not use the shower facilities so can't say anything about them. Thought that there should have been another bathroom facility closer to the campsite where we were parked for those people with popup campers instead of them having to go so far to get to the one available. Wi-fi was spotty and slow and not good for cell phone service at all if needed! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and staff was very friendly and helpful and we would use this campground again! read more
