Owners and folks very nice and helpful. Our spot had a huge cotton wood that gave us afternoon shade. Very quiet. Several groups came in for the weekend. A couple were flying their political flag. Most places don't allow that anymore. And a lot of people walking thru the middle of your camp. The Golden Rule y'all. Forgot to add bright night lights various places around the park. What happened to Dark skies???

Big, mature trees for copious amounts of shade and level lots for your trailer. Full hookups at each site and they have an off leash dog play area, outdoor games and equipment, rental cabins and cute, vintage rental trailers are available!! Plus laundry room, showers and patios, fire pit area and a terrific community center with grills and tables and kitchen area!! This is our first time ever in La Veta, Colorado and it's truly a quaint, super nice place. Getting here from the west was a little confusing because of a couple Dead End signs posted but aren't quite true. The office person was Jim, who is a US AIR FORCE veteran and was very helpful. The entire amenity areas are meticulously cared for by owner Shana and she has tons of flowers and beautiful gardens as well as grassy areas. I'm very impressed!!

The pool/hot springs are split into 2 primary areas. One big area that is meant for all with a kids pool, large hot springs pool with diving boards for all to have fun, a snack bar with lots of goodies (but you can bring your own food in too if you want, which is great for families on a budget), a grassy picnic area, basketball court, and a small toddler friendly slide area as well. You can also rent cabanas. The other area is for 21+ in the greenhouse. It's fully separated from the family area and is an adult atmosphere. There is a bar, snack bar with a limited menu, dense lush greenery, and numerous hot pools of varying temps. There is also a sauna for sweating it out. We spend a lot of time here relaxing and enjoying the pool and cocktails. This is a great place to spend the day or evening. This is not a high end spa but a mid-tier budget friendly option that is well worth it. My only criticism is that the locker rooms could use some updating, but I'll still take it!

Nice clean accommodations, kitchen, basic cooking & utensils, comfortable beds, and everything from 2 bdrm cabins to 5 bdrm house for rent. Fire rings, gas BBQ's and a playground for the kids outdoors. It was during the week after Labor Day so our host Jeremy was there to take care of things, and gave us some tips about the area & what to see & do. During summer season & on weekends there's a pizza restaurant open on site. Nearby is Bosque Del Oro wildlife preserve, one of the largest Elk herds in the US, Monument lake, North lake, Bear & Blue lakes, and others; trails, streams, 14'er peaks and pretty much anything you want to do outdoors. And the view! - wish I could post my pictures here! My idea of a slice of heaven!

I found an abandoned park on the way to the dunes, with exceptionally clean, well stocked restrooms and picnic areas shaded against the worst of the NM sun. The plan when establishing the park: Nice place for locals to spend A Day At The Beach. Reality, the water becomes poisonous to fish, dries up quickly, and the beach is on the edge of a mud hole. Still, possibly worth hiding a tent on overnight...

The Park falls under the authority of the Colorado Parks & Wildlife, as a State Wildlife Area. We stayed here 3 nights in Aug. '25 - The Lake was completely dry, but park is still open & provides a nice restful stop for travelers near the Sand Dunes, with nice large campsites and 30/50a Electric!! John - the new camp host is extremely helpful & friendly, and works incredibly hard (all by himself!) to help insure the Park's future by making sure that all guests have the proper State Wildlife Area pass (or CO Hunting/Fishing license) to help support the ongoing capability of providing free electrical campsites to guests. Seniors can obtain an SWA Annual pass for $11.73 online at cpwshop.com (each guest needs a pass!). We can't thank our host John enough for his hard work & dedication to help keep this park open!!

It's not a super fancy RV park by any means but each site does offer full hookups and the site manager was very friendly and helpful. The park is pet friendly, however, there are no poop stations on site. No fear though, the dumpsters are just a short walk away on site. The WiFi was pretty nonexistent at our site. Maybe other locations on site had better luck but we got some internet the first night but after that the signal just kind of faded away/stopped working. Well, what better way to enjoy the snow and nature than to disconnect. I love that this location is away from the sights and sounds of the city. You really feel like you're out there enjoying nature. The drive to Red River isn't too bad of a hike from this park but going to Angel Fire will take about an hour.
