I liked that Ascent was local. Being a Navy brat, I appreciate the company is owned/operated by vets. Bill answered all my questions and got my project scheduled quickly. The crew arrived at 6:30 AM and was done by just after 12:30PM. They were very careful to tarp above my landscaping to protect it. They worked quickly and efficiently. Afterwards, they were meticulous with clean up, going over not once but twice with the magnets to find practically every nail in my grass and landscaping. They missed very few. They used a leaf blower to get any debris off deck roof, deck, driveway and walkway. Bill returned after the crew left and he courteously "tweaked" a few things for me. Mostly good, but several workmanship issues…read more Creekside Coverings recently completed our outdoor stair reconfiguration project, transforming our straight stairway into a more functional design with a landing and a 90-degree turn onto a paver patio. While the team finished on schedule, the final result revealed some craftsmanship challenges. The project's core functionality meets our expectations. However, in our opinion, certain details fall short of what we would consider more commonly-used construction practices. Key observations follow. 1. The deck planks on the landing are installed parallel to the support joists. This necessitated the addition of blocking between the joists. The blocking was added after the deck planks were secured to the landing frame. In addition, the decking appears to be fastened only to the landing's frame, without direct attachment to the joists or blocking. 2. The newly-constructed landing appears to have been designed without sufficient attention to detail, in our opinion. The shape of the landing necessitated the placement of an additional railing post adjacent to an existing post on the landing to properly secure the bottom section staircase railing. 3. The two new posts on the new landing are slightly different in size than the original posts, and their caps do not match the existing post caps. The contractor mentioned these items to us after they were already installed on the stairway, and he told us that they would not affect functionality. With attention to the observations above, this would easily be a five star project.

I hired Fence Company of Columbus to install an aluminum fence at my home after comparing several local providers. Initially, the experience seemed promising. Bryan came out to assess the property and provide a quote, and the pricing was competitive with other companies. Ultimately, I chose them not only based on cost, but also because they offered to remove an old deck as part of the project. However, the issues began almost immediately once it came time to schedule the work. After receiving city approval, I reached out twice via email (October 13 and October 27) just to get on the calendar. It wasn't until October 27 that I received a response saying they were wide open the following week. I replied the next day with availability (November 6 and 7), but received no response. I had to follow up yet again on November 2, at which point Bryan said we could "touch base" later that week. That never happened. I attempted to call on November 7, and Bryan texted that he would call later to schedule--but again, no follow-up. After another outreach on November 9, he finally proposed an install date of November 10 around noon. I adjusted my schedule to be home, only for no one to show up at the agreed time. At 1:35 PM, I reached out and was told they would arrive shortly; they showed up about 30 minutes later. The company heavily promotes a 5-year installation warranty, emphasizing during the sales process that they will stand behind their work and fix any issues. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. The installation itself was subpar. A section next to the gate was never properly cut down, something a different employee (who later came out and mentioned he was new but experienced in fencing) described as "pure laziness." As a result, once the fence settled, the gate would not close properly and consistently struck the post. When I reported the issue, they did send someone out the next day--but instead of fixing the root problem, the worker simply shook and shifted the fence enough to temporarily make it appear functional. This likely compromised the concrete setting, and the issue quickly returned. Hoping the problem might have been weather-related due to the ground freezing, I waited until the new year before reaching out again. When I did, Bryan assured me it would be covered under warranty and sent out the same newer employee. After evaluating the situation, he explained the real issue: multiple posts needed to be reset and the fence section properly cut--confirming the original installation was not done correctly. He contacted Bryan and indicated that more substantial repair work would need to be scheduled. Once again, communication fell apart. I didn't hear anything, so I followed up on May 11, then again on May 18. I was told someone would come out on May 19--no one showed up. At 3 PM that day, I reached out again and was told Bryan would check with the employee, but I received no further updates. I attempted to call later that evening with no response. After the Memorial Day weekend, I tried again and was given a new date: June 4 in the afternoon. I confirmed my availability, only to experience yet another no-show. At this point, the pattern is clear: poor communication, repeated no-shows, and a failure to stand behind their warranty. While the initial pricing may be competitive, the quality of work and lack of professionalism make this company incredibly difficult to deal with.
