Having had a Horrible experience with a particular staff member at my former Dentists office of 35 years, and him retiring, I was left with a temporary crown in my mouth for the past 2 years, afraid to go back. The side of my upper gum formed an abscess that I let fester for over a year out of fear and humiliation. Realizing my health was at great risk, I began my search for a new Dentist. I decide upon Aspen Dental. I am so glad I found them. They are courteous, and very welcoming. Upon inspection of my mouth it was decided I needed the dreaded word, Root canal! (Having feared that all my adult life) Dr Parvathanei did my Root canal. It had festered way too long and Dr P worked hard to save my tooth, through much decay and infection. Dr P was very caring through the long procedure, making sure I did not have any pain or discomfort, which I did not. Ugh. I wanted to change dentists because the one I've been going to for over 20 years is so hard to get into. It takes months just for a cleaning for both my son and myself. Example, I called in May as my last appointment got canceled due to the hygienist calling off. I ask to reschedule and they can't get us in until late February. I wanted to stay local so thought I'd give aspen a try. Annoying I could only schedule an exam and X-rays. They wanted me to do the exam and X-rays and then schedule to come back for a cleaning. My current dentist does all in one appointment. Well I won't be changing dentists. After my exam the doc tried saying I have gingivitis which I was shocked. I am a brush twice a day and floss each day person. I've never had any issues with my teeth. Ever. The doc didn't even tell me this. My exam was literally less than 30 seconds and the hygienist said "that's the fastest exam I've ever seen, nice job". When I got to the receptionist she is the one that said the doc said you have gingivitis and need a deeper cleaning than covered by insurance. Oh. And buy our electric toothbrush that we have a coupon for. I do NOT like being sold to so I said I have a right to partner in my care and I want the regular cleaning. The receptionist doubled down and said I had to do what was recommended. When I refused she said I had to set up another appointment with the doc and hygienist to discuss that. Seriously? I didn't even use my entire time from my appointment because I got such good accolades from my exam and X-rays. The experience got worse when I said I wanted my X-rays as in just going back to my dentist with this run around. It took 6 days to get them as the front desk associate said she got too busy and forgot to email them to me. Two stars as the front desk was apologetic that she forgot and she was nice. Oh, and my dentist just did the regular cleaning and said nice job. I had to schedule at one of their satellite offices and drive a half hour separately for my son and myself but that will teach me on attempting to change. Don't go to Aspen. I'm sticking with my regular dentist and biting the bullet to make the drive to a further office since my local one can't get me in. My dentist said that there was absolutely no reason for Aspen to have recommended "perio" to me. I see in the response from Aspen they didn't acknowledge their dentists' recommendation being a sales gig vs an actual client need. Aspen was trying to get me to pay $238 for a cleaning vs the regular cleaning insurance covers. Again, when I got into my dentists satellite office, the dentist said it was absolutely not needed and I have great teeth and gum health. Just a sales ploy at Aspen. Do not go there. read more

Everyone was so nice and helped me feel comfortable. I am not a fan of going to the dentist and everyone made me feel at ease. No one made me feel judged for my teeth issues and they helped me set up an affordable and realistic treatment plan. read more

I regret leaving a review that the office sent me to fill out the first week. Of course the first appointment you get to see everybody on their best behavior. The dentist are very kind, as well as the hygienist ,and the X-ray person. My husband and I had good intentions for this practice however it was ruined due to negligence and lack of communication. In addition poor attitudes from the persons in the front that answers the telephones( they need training). It's not acceptable to ignore patients requests for information regarding their treatment plans. It's not good business not to return phone calls, and mislead patients. We are very disappointed with this office, you can call somewhere else and get treated like a person. read more

I got PTO for my son's appointment, they confirmed it with me twice, the day of the appointment they cancelled because "no one would be there to treat him" disgusted. I was trying to find a new dentist for my child. Never really heard anything good about Aspen, but chose to give it a try as they told me THEY DO accept my daughters insurance. I was told i would receive a call prior to the appointment for them to take care of the ins. portion, i never got a call. Drove my daughter 45 minutes the appointment for them to tell me that they didn't accept her ins. that it would be over 200 just to be seen. read more

The people that work at the front desk are rude. I had an appointment this morning with a hygenis and when the appointment was set up I asked what the charge would be I was told that my insurance would be covering it that I would not be charged. When I arrived to the office 15mins before my appointment there was no one at the desk I wanted for 5mins then they had to wake up there computer then on check in I was told I had to pay 150dollars I told her that I had been told that it would be 0 dollars and she said you will have to pay 150 I said that I did butiget for that she went in the back and spoke to someone one came back said we can do it for 100 dollars. I no we can't I didn't butiget for that so just cancel this appointment. All this after having been texted and called several times over the past 2 weeks to confirm the appointment 3 times the day before. I will not be sending anyone to this office. The dentist and the hygenis I have seen were great but the office people are rude and act like the customer are being a bother to them. read more

I went there about a year and a half ago for an emergency root canal. After over a month and $3000 they gave me a permanent crown that was totally flat and has never touched the top teeth so it's effectively useless. Now I already have to spend another $2000 to get a new one from a different dentist. read more

So after spending 6000 dollars on dentistry and that includes a program that you join for free maintenance cleaning I showed up for said maintenance cleaning and was informed that my bill would be 236.00 dollars for this appointment. When I stated that I had the cleaning plan the receptionist told me that oh yeah it will be 126 instead of needless to say I cancelled the appointment and won't be back. The front desk receptionist and the X-Ray technician were very pleasant. Dr. Brain spent only a few minutes with me, which was satisfactory because he said everything looked fine so there wasn't much to discuss. Next on the agenda was to schedule a cleaning. This is where it went downhill. I was escorted to a woman that first asked if I have an electric toothbrush, to which I answered "yes". She then shared I could not be scheduled for a routine cleaning unless I purchased $195 worth of products (a rinse and something else) because of my gum disease. Did I mention the dentist indicated everything was fine (i.e. no cavities, a little bit of plaque buildup but nothing to be concerned about)? I wonder if she would have included the cost of an electric toothbrush as a required purchase had I said "no" to her first question?!? Anyhow, I declined the purchases and she declined making an appointment for my cleaning. Now I'll admit I'm not a dentist. I am pretty certain, however, that a main purpose of a cleaning is to help get rid of the "plaque buildup but nothing to be concerned about". I don't know when it became an acceptable practice to push products as a prerequisite to receive a routine cleaning. Safe to say that was my first and last visit to Canandaigua Aspen Dental, and I would not recommend going there. I'll either return to my out of town dentist when I make visits to where we used to live, or will find a local dentist that is out of network. read more

I was in the office for my routine check up. The exam was completed without issue. I then met with the office manager to discuss future needs and found her to be knowledgeable and thorough. I did not feel rushed and all of my questions were answered. Every staff member that I crossed paths with greeted me, something you do not see in any business. I do not recommend Aspen Dental in Canandaigua, NY. I called this morning to try to reschedule my July 10th teeth cleaning appointment and was just told they could not reschedule at this time due to a recent cyber attack. I was not notified that my personal health information was potentially compromised by the hackers. I was also told they are scheduling teeth cleaning appointments more than 1 year out because they only have 1 dental hygienist? Seriously? Time for me to find a dentist that has better customer service instead of the "Walmart of Dentistry" mentality. read more

I called for an appointment stating that I had a toothache. They gave me an appointment for the next day. I had to leave work early to get there. They took x-rays then had me sit and wait for the dentist. She came in, looked at my tooth and left. I then sat there for an hour until they took me back out to the front desk where they tried to sell me thousands of dollars worth of dental work I didn't want, then proceeded to tell me that I had to come back for another appointment to have work done on my tooth. All I wanted was to get rid of the toothache and now I'm sitting at home in pain for the long Thanksgiving weekend until I can get into my regular dentist. Lesson learned! CANANDAIGUA, NY... Recently moved, and needed a new dentist. DO NOT GO HERE!!! DR. PETHAN [XXX] was an absolute butcher when he pulled my teeth. He missed my 'latex allergy' which I fortunately caught just before I was sedated. Long story short. He cut off the tip of tongue. Highest price dentures never fit. They finally abandened me saying they 'could not help me' about $7000.00+ later. My new dentist told me the dentures were of poor quality material, and would never fit me (which I already knew). They padded their bill by double charging for things that were suppose to be included with the package I had chosen. Stay away, unless you are big on being physically abused, lied to, and swindled. When I confronted them, they said, "that dentist won't be coming back here"; another lie. read more

Very bad place, I wish I never stumbled upon this dentist. They charged us a tremendous amount of money, over $1,000 after insurance and did a terrible job that took him 10 minutes. He was rude and very rough, causing pain and showed no compassion at all. Not to mention that one of the fillings are already starting to chip off. If you want to call and make an appt only for it to be rescheduled without notice... this is the place for you. If you want to be treated poorly and be mocked over the telephone... this is the place for you. If you want to wait over 2 hours for service after your scheduled time... this is the place for you (mind you she is an OLDER relative) you'd think they'd be more courteous. If you want a "dentist" that does not speak English or understand basic terminology... this is the place for you. Dr. P worked on two root canals that I had to have done. I hadn't been to the dentist in probably 10+ years, so this was a wake up call for me, needing these. I went in very nervous, but soon realized that was all for nothing. Dr. P did an AMAZING job. I felt nothing except for the few pricks of the anesthetic needle. It was a pretty lengthy procedure but that did not bother me at all. The dental assistant working also was very friendly and helpful. And Tiffany was exceptionally wonderful and nice. I wanted a 6-month dental cleaning, but after filling out paperwork prior to my appointment, filling out more paperwork at the office, sitting in the waiting room for an extra 10 minutes, being hurried through x-rays, and then being given a periodontal exam, I was told that I needed a $1832.00 deep cleaning! My out of pocket would be $744.60 which included a $135.00 Oral B toothbrush. They wanted a $200.00 deposit before they would schedule the treatment. I asked for a regular cleaning and was told they could not provide that for me. I felt like I was being scammed. I am not going back to Aspen Dental. read more

Horrible experience. Went there to find a new dentist and get a teeth cleaning. Ended up getting a full spectrum of x-rays. Then I was given a pressure sales pitch for teeth cleaning that would cost $3,000. Was told it involved expensive antibiotic drops on my teeth that were not covered by insurance and that was the majority of the cost. This was not a dentist, but only a dental hygienist that does this work. It had to be done over two days because of some limit on daily charges to the insurance company. On top of that, I was told I needed to come back every three months for ongoing treatments indefinitely. I'm 63 years old and have gone to previous dentists twice a year for decades with no problems. This was a totally invented service to scam senior citizens by scaring them into committing thousands of dollars on scam treatments. The NY Attorney General should be investigating this company for fraud. read more
