We have Carrington Dental, Dental 1 which is a yearly paid membership to get a good discount on procedures. My wife went to Cape Coral office and found the dentist was professional and she liked his work. We had to pay upfront $4200 for full upper with some extractions and a lower partial. Aspen Dental has offices all over and THEY KNOW what their going to get paid. We paid according to our plan. Two problems followed. 1) There office sent us a bill for $10,000 they said the didn't get paid enough from insurance. THEY KNOW their not getting money from insurance. We protested with the local office and a month later bill was lowered to $4000 then later to about $1800. They billed medicare, Carrington and me for total services trying to get more money. The main office is crooked. The last bill included items already paid for. 2) Although the dentist seemed professional, having a dental lab in each office is a mistake. From reading many reviews it is apparent the lab techs are not qualified and my wife's dentures did not fit proper and kept falling out. They did not treat lower teeth problems before doing partial bridge, it is useless. Now paying $8000 to a specialist for fixing lower teeth and get an upper denture that fits. read more

I've been an Aspen Dental patient (Minnesota) for over seven years, usually for routine cleanings and check-ups, but my recent experience with this specific Aspen Dental office in Cape Coral, FL was appalling and should be a warning to others. From the start, things were a mess. Scheduling an appointment was a nightmare; it took three calls just to verify my dental insurance, even though I'd been a long-time patient with Aspen Dental in Minnesota. My actual appointment was no better. I arrived on time but waited 20 minutes in a nearly empty waiting room. Then, a huge red flag: the receptionist demanded payment upfront before I'd even seen a hygienist or doctor. It turned out they were trying to double-bill me for X-rays I hadn't even had yet (I had insurance and x-rays/cleaning were covered)! After the X-rays, which were efficient, I was led to a dark, cold "staging room" because the hygienist's room wasn't ready. I waited another 15 minutes there, making the idea of having an appointment feel pointless. When two staff members finally came in, I expected a cleaning. Instead, they performed a periodontal charting, rating my gums from 1 to 7. To my shock, they claimed my teeth and gums were "very, very bad" with ratings of 5 or worse--news to me, as my mouth felt fine. Then came the final straw: Dr. T. and his business manager (who acted like a used car salesman) entered. They used very aggressive sales tactics, declaring I had "severe periodontal disease" and insisting I needed a full periodontal repair costing $2500 before they'd even proceed with a cleaning. In all my years of seeing a dentist, I've never encountered such aggressive sales tactics. I told them I just wanted the cleaning and would defer the periodontal repairs. At that point, Dr. T. refused to see me unless I agreed to the expensive procedure. I decided I wouldn't be intimidated by their unprofessional tactics and told them I'd seek a second opinion. Afterward, I signed a release for Aspen Dental to send my X-rays for that second opinion, but they never did. I've since filed a HIPAA complaint against Aspen Dental with the State of Florida Health Care for their failure to provide required records. And by the way, the second opinion found no evidence of severe periodontal disease--hmm. I will never return to Aspen Dental, and I urge everyone to run away as fast as you can from this office! While the visit was satisfactory, they lied to me when they said that the "check" they were doing on my credit was a soft pull, I specifically asked this which they said yes and nothing would be initialized for the credit. Front tooth filling broke on my 1st day of vacation. They were able to see me within the hour and replace the filling. They explained that it should probably be crowned but understood I needed a temporary fix until I could get back home so they helped me out. Had some trouble with the filling later that day. Called the next business day and they got me right back in and fix the problem. They took very good care of me and we're very caring and responsive. I would highly recommend them. read more

I had the unpleasant experience of dealing with not one but "two managers" at this location at my 8am appointment, first appointment of the day, I received my email and confirm my appointment the week prior.. When I walked into the office I was told by the front desk guy "one of the managers" my insurance wouldn't cover the visit and had to pay $150, I asked for my insurance number and I did their job on calling my insurance. Guess what?? My appointment was covered, so, when I called back an explained to "the manager" I did THEIR JOB.. instead of first receiving an apology, what I received was.. ok well, Do you want to come in at 9am?? Thank goodness, I managed to get a refund because I threatened them with a charge back! I could write pages about the shocking service I received. However, my case in point is regarding my experience when waiting in line to check in. In line ahead of me was a very sweet old lady who was getting an explanation from the person on the desk that "Yes, we quoted you $95 but you didn't mention you had insurance and because of that your responsibility is $295". Meanwhile I'm still trying to find someone to pull the dang tooth. It looks great when someone reading this review sees that you you responded. Responded with nothing but lip service. A different kind of place. This is not your traditional dentist. It's a little bit of an assemble line. You go to one room for one type of x-ray and a different room for a different type of x-ray and the dentist has yet another hand held unit. You then go to another exam room to get your teeth cleaned and a cleaning comes in flavors, deep or regular. If you need something done like a root canal that's yet another room and a cap or bridge is yet another room. Oh, so you can take a break in between rooms, there is "the green room", which is a resting area / waiting area until your next room is ready. Finally, you get to a final room to pay. The prices are high, my insurance is crap but the two dentists I met were true professionals and I guess that's why I "went to the dentist". read more

BEWARE!!!! P S A - ASPEN DENTAL CAPE CORAL FL. I think I know how Aspen Dental makes their EXTRA profits. I had a tooth that needed to be pulled recently. When I presented my dental insurance card I assumed they would be checking with my provider on how much I would have for out of my pocket expenses. I waited a short time before the procedure was to begin and sat down with their "billing / invoice staffer guy. I was given a five page itemized list of the bill. Page 1 showed total treatment plan fees (*estimated) insurance benefit, and in bold print, PATIENT financial responsibility, was $216. I paid the $216 but now I have received a Aspen Dental bill for patient balance of $654! I called Aspen corporate office and also went to the Aspen dental office that did the procedure and was told by both that it was estimated on papers and insurance companies do this all the time. It was a procedure that I did not need to do however, I just to do it because it would only cost me $216. If I was told by Aspen dental that the insurance company might not pay the remaining balance, I would've asked them what might be my total bill for the procedure if insurance did not cover it? However, because Aspen dental puts "estimateddid not give me the ENTIRE scenario, or what could happen if my insurance did not pay for it all, it could leave me a balance of remaining $654. So my suggestion to anyone not to use Aspen dental, unless they give you any additional procedures in writing the exact cost to you with no estimated but using actual dollar figures! read more

Worst dental experience I have ever had. Charged us for procedures upfront that we should not have had to pay at all, without checking with our dental plan that they are an in plan provider of first. I have never had a dental office make you pay up front unless you do not have dental insurance. Now fighting with them to get reimbursed with the help of my insurance. On top of all of this they charged my husband for a fluoride treatment they never forgot to give him. My teeth felt almost like they were not touched when I walked out of their office. Yes it is at no charge, but they use the tests/x-rays to upcharge you. I did not have anything done, but my mouth is still sore from the individual x-rays. They are over priced. Without insurance, but I was very willing to pay up front-Scaling - $1400 and a Crown $1800. And they said that they would work for me, as I was not using insurance. I needed a very small cosmetic filling in one of my front teeth and went to Aspen Dental instead of my usual dentist because I needed a Saturday appointment. They did X-rays and an exam, then told me I have periodontal disease and need an upcharged $1200 "deep cleaning" before the work can be done. Weird, I just saw my regular dentist four months ago and was told my gums are in great shape. I asked if I can do a regular (free with insurance) cleaning and the filling and they told me no because of "liability". This filling for a small chip in my tooth should cost no more than a few hundred dollars at most. I asked for an itemized treatment plan and, along with the ridiculous deep gum scraping, antibiotics, etc. that I certainly don't need, they snuck in a $130 electric toothbrush that I didn't ask for. Needless to say I left and will take an afternoon off work to see my regular dentist. This is the used car dealership of dentistry. Avoid at all costs. read more

The review pertains to the newer facility in Cape Coral on Sta Barbara: The location was clean and the staff was friendly. The dentist was per diem, but was personable and examined my teeth and Xrays. A follow up was scheduled with the dental hygenist. The reason I will not be returning is they off on the estimate. I paid in advance based off my insurance benefits only to receive a bill. My financial responsibility tuned out to be 3 times more than the initial quote. I would not have agreed to the treatment had I known this, perhaps I would have sought a second opinion. I called billing and a polite woman informed me that the insurance "just covered a part of it" and I am responsible for the rest. SO what happened? Did they run the insurance wrong? Did they alter the estimate to get me to agree to it? Did they upcharge their services? None of these sound trustworthy. I will unfortunately not return to Aspen Dental. WIth different insurance, your mileage may vary... but I would be very cautious before signing off on a treatment plan. read more
