Dr Phil Kraver at Cape Dental is awesome! My insurance through work was at "chain" dental offices and I was told from them that I needed a whole new tooth. I went to Dr Phil at Cape Dental and he told me that the discoloration that the "chain" dentist was seeing was actually the adhesive/cement from previous work, that I did not need the work that the "chain" said I needed. That was over two years ago...when one of my restored teeth came off (thanks to chewing on a jolly rancher), Cape Dental got me in quickly and assessed the damage. Dr Phil reviewed the treatment plan with me regarding the best options and what the cost differences were. After a six month process, I am the proud owner of a new implant/crown. The office staff was always prompt, professional, and addressed any concerns that I had along this journey. I am thankful that there are still reputable dentists and healthcare workers in our community that look out for the best interest of the patients rather than the almighty dollar. I took my brother to Cape dental because they do sedation dentistry. They are the kindest nicest people that you could meet. They're handling the Covid-19 perfectly. You text or call when you arrive and they will come out take your temperature and escort you in. My brother was a nervous wreck they handled him so wonderful made me very at ease. Awful dentist. Went in for a preventive simple filling without pain. Left with a nerve pain where I can't bite on one side of my mouth. Went back in to get adjusted. Only to be told by the dentist that this was "normal" and will go away within 2- 6 weeks. So basically, he was telling me that I can't chew on that side of the mouth for up to 6 weeks! 38 yrs of going to dentist and getting fillings. This is the first time I have had pain after a filling. Beautiful office, great hygienists but terr dentist. 17 days update: still can't chew on the right side of my mouth. Ridiculous. read more

I have been under Cape Dental Care's care since last fall and I can honestly say that they have taken the majority of my fear away. I have always been afraid of the dentist and was in an accident some twenty odd years ago that left me with subpar dental work (from up north) and finally decay and a worn out bridge. After visiting a few dentist around town, I chose Dr Phill Kraver at Cape Dental Care for my implants and restorative care. Not only is he amazing and truly caring, so is the entire staff! They have an in house lab which meant all work done on the premises and not having to go to oral surgeons and back again. I went to Cape Dental after being misled and ripped off by another dentist. Dr. Kraver took care to evaluate and explain my problem and referred me to his son for sedation dentistry due to my severe dental anxiety. But my tooth acted up and became an emergent issue requiring immediate extraction before that appointment could occur. I was given a same-day emergency appointment and Dr. Kraver talked me through the terror of having my tooth extracted while awake! Dr. Kraver and his staff put me at ease and took fantastic care of me.. All for less money than the rip off dentist I previously tried had quoted. If you have perfect teeth, Sure, go here. But if you have real issues, and are embarrassed and afraid, RUN AWAY FAST. I was PETRIFIED of going to the dentist. REAL PHOBIA. My husband even had to walk me in so I didn't run out the back door. I did everything in my power up to that moment to avoid the dentist office - including creating my own plastic tooth to wear in place of my missing tooth. Afraid of the embarrassment, Afraid of the pain. Afraid of the dentist. Staff, AWESOME. Very kind, Caring. Office, Beautiful. Dental technicians were beyond kind, caring. They saw that I was scared & embarrassed and went above and beyond to try to calm me and tell me it will all be ok. Xrays were taken, again gently, kind. Tears streaming down my face awaiting the dentist. Then the dentist walked in. Senior Kraven. I explained my fear and embarrassment and told him I have a lot of work that needed to be done. I told him that It started when had an 18-month trial of a Chemotherapy Drug. The drug causes Enamel loss, Cracked Teeth. My dental issues went downhill from there. Of course, my own neglect, and non-existent dental visits contributed greatly. He said "Lu- .... Lu- What?" so he obviously had NO IDEA what this drug was or its side effects. He went on to tell me that the drug did not cause any of my issues and had zero effect on my own teeth. He berated me and belittled me and lectured me on the cause of my issues, instead of telling me how he can help me. My fear of being embarrassed was now real, and being thrown in my face. He said that there is too much pharmaceutical litigation in this country. WHATT??? Who said anything about Litigation??? He did not know the drug, my side effects, of even LOOK INSIDE MY MOUTH.... yet he is backing the Big Pharma and chastising a new patient within 30 seconds of meeting me???? Again, He never even looked inside my mouth. Then when I thought he was done lecturing me, (tears running down my face) he brought it back up again. I walked out crying. If the staff is reading this: Please find a better dentist to work with. Usually, the dentist is great, but the staff is horrible. This place, it is completely backward. I went to Mark Kraver DDS in 2016 for a complete upper and a partial lower denture. The upper dentures have never fit right. My mouth is still sore where plate hits and bottoms out every time I bite down. The lower partial is useless because metal retainer broke off a couple years back. I can't count the number of times I had to return for refitting. It would be ok for a couple of weeks and back for another appointment. Finally I gave up after end of one of appointments was finished I told technician that my plate still felt painful. This was only my second visit to this dentist on Del Prado with a gap between of many years. As a 62 year old man my teeth are in such bad shape that I have only lost two teeth over all my years, and they were both pulled by these people at my last visit. The first tooth was split and maybe needed to come out (so they could do an implant) but the second one a wisdom tooth was advised to me as being better out. After that visit I begin to think that they were just angling to do some more expensive work on me doing an implant so I never went back. I was actually unhappy about losing most of my ability at one side of the mouth to chew after they pulled the wisdom tooth (they told me it was loose and 'hanging on by a thread' but when they tried to pull it it broke and they had a heck of a job digging the bits out of my gum) I did not go back again. Up until then that tooth had previously given no trouble at all. Then today,after a minor bout of toothache in the night, my wife made had an appointment for me to go there. Sadly I had forgotten all about the visit many years ago. I waited forty minutes in the chair for him to dane even to come to see me at all and the only person to look in my mouth was a junior who only asked which tooth was bothering me and took an xray of it. The chief dentist himself later came into the room I was in, and he told me straight away that I did not clean my teeth properly, and that my dentist of forty years back up north was irresponsible and no good at the job. He diagnosed a cavity and suggested a requirement for thousands of dollars of implant work to be done after pulling my tooth, if I agreed. The dentist himself had NEVER even looked in my mouth Suddenly it all flashed back to me, what happened last time was almost identical so I paid them up and got out of there quick ! I have heard of Garage mechanics upselling their customers, but thought a dentists job was to provide pain relief with minimal invasive surgery Silly me. read more

I went there around 5 years ago and Phillip made a new denture due to affordable Dentures making my upper a year prior and it was a year of hell with pain in my mouth. The one Phillip made was great and never needed an adjustment. HE gets 5 stars-especially his bed side manor he is among the best when it comes to respect and the treatment of his clients. Fast forward to this year. My upper was starting to move causing discomfort. I called and was told Phillip was "double booked" for a while so they made my appt. with MARK Kraver. Wow was that a mistake. he said it needed a reline (which I knew) and said it was not adjustable. So he then adjusted it and charged me $95 for an adjustment. I got home and within an hour my mouth was bleeding in 3 spots, and I notice there were VERY sharp edges that weren't there b4 he adjusted. So I called and was told he said it can't be adjusted only a reline will work (also, this was a Thurs and they were closed on Fri.) 7 days of HELL with pain and bleeding even though I only wore them in to eat or to go somewhere. I called for reline the next week & was told (again) Phillip was double booked. So I ended up with Mark again. I asked Mark if relines work well and he said that the reline would so comfortable "you won't believe it". He was right, I don't believe it! The pain was indescribable! Oh, and another $400. Unfortunately It was again a Thursday and i had to wait and AGAIN I was stuck with a bleeding, very painful mouth. Since Mark did the reline He was the one who had to adjust it. He started out saying "ya got a couple spots?" He then started trying to adjust denture and at one point said "you've got a bad sore in there, unless it's herpes" I COULD NOT BELIEVE HE SAID THAT! Especially since the sore was caused by HIS reline. Well after another adjustment with him causing my denture to hurt even more. I gave up. Now, months later the reline has disappeared, literally. Another dentist that saw it said that was an awful reline. I don't know what he used for material but it's now almost non existent. Add all that up to a man who has the worse bedside manner I've EVER had to deal with. He talks down to you and has a terrible attitude. Phillip should teach his dad how to talk to people. How to work with dentures. How to be respectful, etc. I also feel Mark is obtuse when it comes to Dentures. if you call them and they offer Mark, run like hell. I'm awaiting a new denture from another dentist which took a while to find as I was terrified of any dentist due to the treatment form Mark Kraver and spent MONTHS in agony from what he did to my denture and mouth. read more

If I could give ZERO stars for these jerks I would. Last May my husband made an emergent visit an hour before they closed for an abscessed tooth. They did x-rays and confirmed an abscess that extended into his sinuses. They refused to do anything about it because he was in severe pain and his blood pressure was "too high". They were happy to charge us for the visit and x-rays however. They didn't even prescribe antibiotics--which is the main thing he needed. I am an emergency room RN and to me this is blatant malpractice. I wouldn't take my dog to these people. All they care about is ripping people off for doing NOTHING. read more

The dentist did not like my husband from the first time he saw him. From then on he was condescending and arrogant and by the end he was just an a$$hole. Since the both of us were raised with manners, we bit our tongue and got the heck outta there. There's a lot more, and the way I was treated at my appointment to upsetting to write it out and relieve it. But please don't go here, they don't care about you, questions about your treatment are frowned upon and your basically called stupid, oh and at the end they will overcharge you, again, and again and again, for the one visit. I am a big big baby when it comes to going to a dentist as I have had bad experiences in the past! When I first found Dr. Phillip Kraver, I warned him of my anxiety. He has been absolutely nothing but TOP NOTCH! Every time I have had to have dental work, he has been gentle, soft spoken AND he has checked on me afterwards. Last night I broke a tooth. Called and spoke to the answering service and Dr. Kraver personally called me. He didn't have his calendar in front of him but had me come in at 8 am this morning. What typically would need a crown, he said I would just need a filling because it was small enough. I have to go back on Oct 8 for 2 fillings. This is a feat in itself. Already I am anxious and worked up about this. Like I said, I am a big baby and I typically have to be put under for ANY dental work.
