Wow! I mean, wow! I wish now that I'd read some reviews before I made the mistake of allowing these people to work on my mouth. Almost every review has a response from Aspen, which is an apology. Why would a dental company with many locations need to make so many apologies? Here's one reason why. Before I explain, I would like to say that the Hilliard location has a receptionist named Leatha. I hope I spelled that correctly. She is very knowledgeable, personable, and super pleasant to deal with. Aside from that, my experience was a complete nightmare! First, the financial part. Don't trust the magician Chris Trainer. While he's throwing numbers around and preparing documents with figures you believe will be manageable, he'll be waiving his fingers and distracting you while you are signing something that isn't what he's explaining to you. I live on a fixed income from SSDI. I'm not exactly sure what my insurance paid. More than $7000, though. My part was another $7000. The total monthly payments were $210 per month, 10% of my monthly income. The dentist, who looked into my mouth for 15 seconds during the initial exam, pulled all my teeth on my second visit. He forced the temporary dentures into my mouth before the local anesthesia wore off. He told me there would be no pain and to leave them in overnight, and sent me home choking on blood and saliva, unable to close my mouth. The fit was so poor, and the pain was so intense that my nose ran and my eyes watered continuously. I had to remove them at 3 am, so i could fall asleep. I spent the next four months picking bone splinters out of my gums and eating soup and soft food, and learning how to chew with my gums. When I returned after six months to have permanent dentures made, I was informed that the temporary ones were the permanent ones. They were just going to realign them to make them fit. After two unsuccessful attempts at realignment, I was to return to have a new upper set made. When I arrived at this visit, a payment of $1200 was demanded, which I did not have nor would I have paid if I did have it. I was supposed to have had functioning teeth at that point. I may have been inclined to pay a portion of the balance owed if they'd held up their end of the arrangement. Needless to say, I was infuriated, and this visit did not go well as they refused to proceed. I'm not sure what I'll do at this point. Now I owe $3000 to the finance company, $3000 to Aspen, and I have zero teeth. My advice to anyone who wants to hear it is a follows. If you need our want dental work done and you have any other choice besides Aspen Dental, choose the other option. If your only other option is knocking out the teeth that hurt with an ice skate blade and a rock like Tom Hanks in the movie Cast Away, then I hope you are a skating enthusiast. read more

What a scam!!! Avoid this rip of!! The charged me over $4500 and put off the cleaning they insisted I had to get done first fo a month, even though a tooth was breaking up and needed to come out. The final straw for me was when that tooth broke again and became painful and was cutting my tongue to the point that I couldn't eat the office manager told me they would try to fit me in 2 days from then to do impressions for a partial befoe they would pull my tooth! Working with this location has been an absolute nightmare. My daughter (an OSU student) was seen at this location and provided them with my insurance information; she is a covered dependent. This was almost a year ago. They have failed to bill the insurance properly, even though she has SIX documented calls providing the same information each time. Today, she called again and they said that they have sent her to collections despite being told on multiple occasions to not pay the bill and that they would finally bill the correct insurance. She felt very threatened over the phone and paid the bill in panic. I am now going to have to bill the insurance company myself, doing the job that they have failed to do SIX times. I went in for a cleaning and exam. The staff was extremely unprofessional and one of the hygienist smelled of weed. It took them close to an hour just to take x rays with an extremely out dated machine. Finally I was able to see a doctor after waiting and he was in and out within 1 minute telling me I have a couple cavities to fill and that the office will contact me with a day to get them filled. Attempted to get my teeth clean. I was unaware that they would do full mouth xray. I asked if i had already had one for the year and receptionist said she did not ask when she checked my benefits. Said she would call back but if it took to long they would reschedule appt. When i tried to talk to her she turns her back to me. This is so unprofessional. I decided this company clearly does not want my money. I will never use aspen dental ever. I am a travel nurse so i sometimes dont remember what i had done at the last dentist. I would put 0 stars but that's not an option. Place is nasty unclean and full off amateur dental assistants and managers. They screwed my mouth up trying to take unnecessary X-rays that I had already had for them. Then took me to another rookie where she tried 4 times on upper and lower teeth to make a template of my teeth, did all this before I even got an estimate. finally she listened to me and used a smaller tray. Then comes the manager Chris with his high pressure tactics. He then gave me an estimate for $14,500 I said are you sure about that cause I went to clear choice the day before and for a full mouth of implants was $57,000 dollars, he said because they are rip offs. Ok so then he had me scheduled for surgery a few days later. Well when I got home and was going through the estimate I noticed there was no lower implants on the estimate. I called and he rudely said oh well I will get back with you on that. This was a Tuesday my surgery was on that Friday. Kept calling him and the receptionist said he will call you right back like 3 times and he never called. Finally I emailed him on Thursday and told him they would have to reschedule due to not knowing how much it would cost. He called me real quick and said it would be around another $10,000 dollars and he could get me financing for the cost beyond my insurance which I have 2 insurances Medicare and my wife's MetLife total of $9000 At this point I have had enough and told him that I will be going elsewhere. He then became very frustrated and tried talking me down. But I said I should have went with my 1st impression of this place and hung the phone up. Well a little while later he emailed me and said that he talked to the dentist and now they will do it free of cost for all the bottom implants. That would have been a great deal but to good to be true. Plus I'm not going to let someone do dental surgery on me after that train wreck. Now here's the best part they are now billing me for $6000 dollars no kidding at a 14.9% interest rate. This is a joke why wouldn't they use my insurance? I would have future clients to not go here. I will say the dentist was very kind and he as well explained what was going and wasn't trying to swindle money out of you. I cannot say I had that experience with his staff and the building. While sitting in the chair for my exam the computer system quick working. She was unable to view my x-rays until 15 min later. After the dentist came in and explained what I may need in the future I waited for 30 mins for the finance guy (office manager or whatever) to explain my options. He didn't explain anything and instead went straight to attempting to run my credit my without asking me. I inquired about various options available for financing if in the future if I'm unable to pay. I wasn't getting any work done that day and just there for a 1st time patient exam. He asked for my SSN and income It wasn't until I said are you trying to run my credit he stated yes. I advised him to not do that and he stopped and then sent me on my way. Second the staff is unprofessional I could hear their conversations discussing other patients the front desk girl had to say shhh "she is still here" after one of the Ladies was talking negatively about the patient. Third the facility was unclean stains on the walls, the chair that use lay down was unclean and I want given a Bibb for the exam. Lastly the dental assistant who took the x-rays was unprofessional and while getting my x-rays she put the device in my mouth so hard that I ended up getting a canker sore a few days later. if I had any advice for the dentist and franchise. First time going to this place. I read reviews on here and Google prior to my appointment, so I was apprehensive about a possible negative experience. I can thankfully say that I got none of that during my visit! Everyone was very nice, professional, and it was an overall great experience! I get nauseous easily so they were patient and and gentle with my care. Christmas weekend I had a severe toothache. I managed to patch it with something from the drug store but got in to see Aspen Dental first thing two mornings after Christmas. The front desk seemed friendly, as did the hygienist. They did X-rays, she said I needed a cleaning, then the dentist came in and hardly spoke to me; he seemed aloof. After identifying it as a cracked tooth that would have to come out (along with two others), he left and I waited 20 minutes or more for someone to talk about treatment. I was asked to go to the lobby to wait so they could see another patient. After another 15 minutes the business manager said he was busy and would call me that afternoon. I waited 45 minutes while I heard the person I was supposedly waiting for tell the office staff about his weekend. They then gave me a card with a new time and date for a cleaning. I had 2 crowns and a filling done here. They had to redo one of the crowns. It fell out eating a ham sandwich. After a year it fell out again. I don't eat candy or sticky things. I went to another dentist and had it reattached. While getting that done they showed me the X-rays and the filling that was done. Wasn't completely filled and had to be redone as well. Then the other crown failed and had to be reattached. So everything they did has had to be redone. Buyer beware! read more

I've been a patient of Aspen for several years and kept going back because they treated me right. Last year, I droppedy lower denture and broke it in half. I went back to Aspen for a new one and it was a nightmare. They used the wrong plate to take the impression so the dentures were never right, and hurt. I drove across town 1-3 times a week for adjustments and a reline, but nothing helped. They finally made a new one, using a different plate to take the impressions. This pair fit much better, but we're looser than the others. Whenaking the second plate, I mentioned that the first one sat too high, not giving me enough chewing clearance. The doctor that day just cut off a bunch of the wax base and called it fixed. She didn't measure the gap between my teeth to ensure a good fit. Now I have a plate that sits too low so it makes my face look like I have no bottom teeth, and worst of all there is a gap between my top and bottom plate when my jaw is in a relaxed position. Why does this matter? Because my tongue spreads out and I'm constantly biting it. I called for a reline to help it for better and they won't honor the "one free reline" because it was used on the first pair that didn't fit and had to be remade. Seriously? What a joke. I will not return to them again. Poor customer service, poor support, constant turnover of staff and now not honoring their advertised word. Looking for a new dentist. read more

I have UHC community plan and was told they accepted my insurance. I called and made an appointment and was turned away saying they didn't take it. I called UHC and they reassured me that they did. It took 9 months later for me to finally get in to see them because in NOV 2020 all the sudden they accepted it. This was by far the most disappointing waste of 45 minutes I've ever spent trying to get my teeth cleaned! I called for an appointment with the location in Pickerington - they use a service - they service got my info and set me up an appointment for a routine exam and cleaning. Except that is not what happened. I was xray-d no less then 18 times...I made sure to inquire about this b/c my insurance only covers so much in xrays...I was told they are free for new patients....however b/c of the inexperience of the tech it wasn't free of pain! On to the dental chair where I wait for who I assume will be the hygienist for my cleaning. Nope - in walks the Dentist who tells me, "you have some serious calcium built up and we will need to get plan in place to take care of that." I went here recently for significant dental work (I put it off too long because I'm generally afraid of dentist). I had to have a front tooth extracted, and they waited until I was in a chair preparing for sedation to tell me that they forgot to make a temporary denture. While they initially wanted me to wait until the following week for a denture (yes, go without a front tooth for several days), they eventually agreed to make a temporary denture. Intentional or not, they've certainly gotten their revenge. For the denture, they made a front tooth that is noticeably smaller than all my other teeth, so that I can look absolutely foolish for the next six months. I had an appointment with Aspen Dental today to see about some serious dental work. As I arrived, I was not greeted by any staff (no patients waiting other than myself) and had to wait an extremely long time. I saw the Hygienist who berrated me regarding an issue with my teeth to the point she had me in tears and I just am not a cryer!! They couldn't give me any kind of information about what needed to be done, they glossed over everything and expected me to just go along with their treatment plan without questioning it. I expressed my concerns to the office manager who shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I will never go back nor will I ever recommend such a place!! They treat their patients horribly and with no respect. Aspen Dental in my opinion from my visit is a business not looking to serve the community but to increase their bottom line. My review is based on two separate occasions, one of mine and one of my fiancé's. I was new to the area and needed my annual cleaning. I scheduled online and made sure to point out I needed a cleaning on their booking website AND when they asked what I needed when they called me to follow up and get my insurance info. I get to the appointment, they take my x-rays, asked me if I had questions or concerns. Nope, just a cleaning. It was awkward because they seemed confused, like why was I even there in the first place if my teeth were in good condition and I didn't have any questions? Well, to get my teeth cleaned! Then they ended my appointment by telling me I would need to schedule my cleaning. Cue a very confused patient. I've never scheduled a cleaning as a new patient and walked out without my teeth being cleaned that same day. Reason being is that they supposedly do a special cleaning based on your teeth and they normally can't do it all at once. Perhaps if in an appointment they found out your teeth were in terrible condition, I could understand them asking to schedule a separate time. But I didn't need anything special done to my teeth. I've moved a lot in the last couple of years and been to new dentists multiple times- that has never happened to me before. But okay, even if that's the way they do things, fine. The office should be telling new patients that they have to have a consultation appointment first before they're able to do any cleanings. Or at least it should also be on their website. If I would have known that I would have just gone somewhere else where I could be one and done. Although that was a red flag, my fiancé decided to book his annual cleaning a few weeks later at the same place. And yes, he also had to schedule two different days (which again wasn't mentioned to him until the end of his first appointment), but at least I warned him. His issue was that after his second appointment with his cleaning he received a bill in the mail for over $500. Called up Aspen dental and they told him that the insurance was not in network. False. He called his insurance and they verified that Aspen just coded it wrong and billed him as not in network. His insurance company then said aspen needs to resubmit the bill. Okay, whatever, easy fix right? He spent WEEKS having to follow up with them. He would call, they would take down his information, but he wouldn't get a call back...and he kept receiving those bills meaning it clearly hadn't been changed. He finally went in person and talked to someone. I'm not exaggerating when I say it took 6 months for them to finally send him a bill that was in network! In the meantime, he received that "overdue" bill every other week. I understand that it could take a few days or a few weeks, but 6 months? Even calling him with an update would have been nice. I thought my experience was a little frustrating, but after seeing what he went through it just seems like their entire practice is not very customer friendly. I did not like how when it was time for me to go over my "options" for paying for what I wanted and needed done, this guy just handed me a clip board and told me to sign my name. I knew I should of asked if this would run my credit but I did not think they would do that without telling me that's what they were going to do. I told him I have care credit and he says oh u can use that if u like but I want to give u all ur options. Then he apparently runs my credit and goes over some other credit card I guess they offer. My husband visited this office for a new patient appointment, expecting the usual couple x-rays and a cleaning. Instead he got five or six x-rays, NO cleaning, but they did try to sell him invisalign for several hundred dollars! Now, a couple weeks later, I am attempting to get ahold of someone to ask about our bill (which we haven't seen yet). Despite selecting the appropriate phone menu option I was placed on hold for several minutes, only to have someone answer long enough to ask me to hold some more, and eventually their automated system said "goodbye" and hung up on me! The only reason I gave this place one star is because I couldn't rate it with 0 stars. The dental staff is great, but my boyfriend is a patient here and we've always have a lot of trouble with the administrative staff. On the first visit they were having problems with his insurance so we told them to call when it was figured out. He got a call a few weeks later saying they figured out the insurance so he scheduled his appointment. After that appointment was over, the financial guy pulled us to the side and said they didn't have the insurance information figured out and demanded that he (my boyfriend) pay $400 up front and in full for the services just performed. Andrew, the financial guy, promised he would figure out the insurance asap and give my boyfriend a refund for anything the insurance didn't cover. Okay so a few weeks later we went back in for a check up (or something) and both of the receptionists told us the insurance was figured out but after the appointkent Andrew automatically told my boyfriend that he still hadn't received any information about coverage. After I went into the office and strictly told him about what the receptionists had said he "found" the data in the system BECAUSE HE HAD'T EVEN CHECKED BEFORE I SAID SOMETHING (he told me this to our faces). Here we are, 3 months later with not only no refund but HE HASN'T EVEN FILED FOR THE REFUND YET (he also told me this to my face)??? Both my boyfriend and I have called multiple, multiple times trying to talk to Andrew about the insurance but all we ever got was "he's busy" or "he will call you right away" with no calls. We even went to see him in person and Andrew assured us that he would give us a call to talk about coverage. Every time we have gone into this place we have been promised a phone call with information about his insurance coverage and has not once received a call from anyone at this Aspen, other than for appointment reminders. My boyfriend scheduled yet another appointment (he's a student and doesn't have much money for any other options) and we were told it would cost $600. We came to the appointment and they told him it would be $930. Please save yourself the time, trouble, and frustration and find another dental place because this has to be the worst one ever. read more

After going to three oral surgeons for a full mouth extraction, my recent visit to the Aspen Dental on Rome Hilliard Road became the end of my search. The staff were friendly and the front desk staff recognized me by name. The dentist was thorough in reviewing my referral, x-rays and teeth. In working with the finance manager, Aspen Dental accepted all of my available insurance and the bill was less than half what was quoted to me a week earlier with another dentist. If my procedure turns out well, I am considering changing dental providers. read more

Avoid this place. Even though the x-rays and check-up will be free, you will end up paying for it later on and with interest. They recommended I have unnecessary procedures done (of course those happened to be most expensive). I know for a fact that I did not need those procedures as my dentist (on her review) said so. They quoted me unrealistic prices for unnecessary procedures. How about $2,400 for a root canal! Oh, they did offer free financing and a 20% discount if I do it this month. I was going twice a year for 2 years for my cleanings. Every single time they took far to long to see me even with an appointment scheduled six months in advance I was always prepared to wait at least 45 minutes to be seen. During the exam I didn't not feel they did a through job and each time they did different things felt very inconsistent. Always pushed hard to get their electric toothbrush even after telling them I had purchased my own. I come for my teeth to be cleaned not for a hard sell on a product I don't want/need. I had to reschedule my last appointment & I called a month in advance had to speak to about three people to get it rescheduled and in the end just ended up canceling it because they didn't have an appointment open for mornings until like 2 months later. Found my new wonderful dentist, they actually took time & cleaned my teeth talked me through each thing they where doing, and surprise surprise turns out I have 5 cavities that my dentist is "amazed" they could miss.
