The consultation went fine, although I felt Dr. Spann seemed a bit cocky and barely looked in my mouth. The nurse staff had a weird sorority vibe around him, but everyone was very nice and I moved ahead with the surgery. Before I was taken into the operating room I discussed my medication allergies with the nurse (I only have two, one being amoxicillin, which makes me break out in horrible hives). They explained the procedure to me and asked if I had any concerns. I said not really, only that I have a birth control implant in my left arm, and therefore would prefer to have the anesthesia IV in my right arm. She said that was perfect and we made our way to the surgery room. We had yet another conversation about my implant during the walk down the hall, and I demonstrated how you can feel in through my skin. I laid down for surgery and a mask was put over my face, the laughing gas caused me to drift away and I heard them talking about putting the IV in. I felt the nurse touching my left arm and was jerked awake as she tied the rubber tourniquet directly over my implant in my left arm!! It felt as though it was pushed through my skin. I was able to say "not the left one," then heard her say "oh right, oops!" and I was pulled under. My boyfriend drove me home and went back out to get my antibiotics and pain pills. When he returned, the antibiotic they had prescribed me was amoxicillin! I told him I was very allergic and I went back to sleep. It took him about three hours to get everything sorted out with the pharmacy and nurses at COFS (who simply said "oops" again about the mistake). Because of this careless mix up I wasn't able to take my full rounds of antibiotics my first recovery day. Following the surgery in October, my arm felt consistently sore and uncomfortable. My period had began a few days before the surgery and didn't stop until the beginning of February. I was finally able to get an appointment with my gynecologist, suspecting that the nurse had in fact damaged the Nexaplon implant. It was removed yesterday, bent and creased. My gynecologist said that's not something that happens, and was surely a result of this nurse ignoring me. I understand mistakes happen, but I felt I wasn't listened to at all by these medical "professionals," and that they were only going through the motions of the job. Also, six whole weeks after the surgery, my chin and lips were still numb. I understand nerve damage can happen in this procedure, and my nerves did slowly repair and feeling has returned, but it made me wonder what other mistakes occurred while I was unconscious...

Our whole family started using this dentist and orthodontist when we moved to Dalton almost 4 years…read moreago and really liked them at the time. They ranked up there with the best dentists we have used and we have been to quite a a few: we have moved about every four years for the last 20 years. They were really friendly, they knew us when we walked in, we never had a problem making an appointment, and we rarely ever had to wait when we arrived. Looking through the pictures, I remember all of those people. Something happened over the last couple of years. All the people that were in this office before COVID are no longer there. It has often been hard to get in touch with anyone in the office (we either get and answering machine which they rarely return our call or keep getting someone in another one of the locations even when I select Dalton). They have changed our appointments multiple times, and it has been hard to get appointments when needed. My daughter finally got her braces off (after an extended time due to COVID) and they fitted her for a retainer and told us they would call us when it was ready. 1-1/2 months later I tried calling about the retainer, but ended up having to walk into the office and was told they could not find it. She had to check out of school and get fitted for another one. We have been considering changing dentists after a year of this, but kept going back for some reason. I think we have reached our limit. I had a capped tooth that started hurting (one they did). I went in early one morning and was told I might need a root canal, but they gave me a prescription for antibiotics to see if that might help first. I was told they could no longer do a root canal at this location, and I would have to go to the office in Cartersville. When the tooth started throbbing after two days, I called to make an appointment for the root canal, and was told I could not be seen for 3-1/2 weeks. I told them I am having a hard time drinking or eating and I was told, "I am sorry, but that is the earliest I can get you in." Bye.

Please go anywhere but here. This is going to be lengthy so just buckle up…read more I had a root canal done in Chattanooga May 1st. They told me to go to another dentist to get a crown. It took me FOREVER to get in somewhere to get this crown done, so I was desperate and finally found A Smile 4 U in Dalton. Receptionist told me I was supposed to check in so in the future I needed to do that. Even though I had already checked in.. During the initial exam, they were slow but I was in there towards the end of the day so I brushed it off. When the doctor started looking at my teeth he was extremely rough. I told myself I was being a baby and just hadn't been to the dentist in awhile (even though it was not nearly as bad in Chattanooga) ... I came back for the crown appointment and he was also fixing a cavity and doing a cleaning. Blood was all over my shirt during the cleaning and water was literally going up my nose so bad I had to tell him to stop multiple times, and he was also gagging me with it going down my throat. He had to stop during my cleaning and go help another younger patient. When we went back to the other room for my crown & cavity, the lady helping him didn't know where any tools were that was needed. I think she had to leave the room 20 times and that is not even an exaggeration, there were a few times he'd have to leave with her because she came back empty handed and said they were out or they couldn't find it. He was so rough with me I was literally begging God to get it over with. I was numb but the way he was prying my mouth open and shoving things in and out, the drilling, he couldn't reach my back tooth well and I was a nervous wreck. So anyway, that was for the temporary crown .. My appointment was at 10 am and I didn't leave til 1:30-2. So that was in July. Ok it is now an October 4th and I have called them for the past 2-3 weeks and texted asking where my permanent crown is. I have left messages, I have called the Cartersville office. I texted them, no response, but my husband texts them and they text back immediately with a response. I finally get ahold of them today. They don't know where my crown is, but they also don't take adults anymore. So I said so what do I do? Because I paid y'all already?? The receptionist said "ummm.... Ummmmmmm.........." For a good minute or two and then said well we'll talk to the manager, because I think we actually do have a dentist here that sees adults. Ok so ??? I called the cartersville office, no response. I'm so fed up. Just save yourself time and go elsewhere.

I have had my implant done here and had a great experience! I brought my boyfriend here to get his implant done as well. Before we were going to start this process, We signed up and got him insurance, I'm no expert on insurance, but I know how to read and I read that extractions were covered immediately not 100% but 80% of it would be covered. During our consultation with the office they told me his insurance would not cover the extraction or anything needed at this time. I felt a little dumb but played it off like I'm not insurance expert. I knew it wouldn't cover anything else but kept reading extractions were covered. We have him scheduled for the bone graft this upcoming Friday, well last Wednesday he started having terrible pain, by Friday he was going to rip this tooth out of his head and this office was closed those three days for the holidays. So I had to get him in to get the tooth pulled somewhere else that Friday, lo and behold the lady At this dental office came back saying Oh, your insurance does cover the extractions up to 80% so all you owe is $60 today.. I thought to myself wow so Dr. Cannon's office must've not even checked.. Fast forward to today I call to explain what happened and when do we need to come back in for a bone graft?.. She rudely tells me on the phone oh, we're not going to just cut him back open and do a bone graft. He'll have to do that when he gets the implant... I have no idea what that means and I just sit in silence on the phone because I'm thinking to myself is that not the next step for the implant because that's what you were going to do on Friday is pull the tooth and put a bone graft in and that bone graft has to heal for a certain amount of time.. I expressed to the girl on the phone that I don't know what that next step means and she seemed to not even care to talk to me about it or explain anything to me, because she absolutely did not. And at this point, the receptionist, both of them alone have put such a bad taste in my mouth. I've decided to not use this office at all.. So moving forward, double check your insurance because they're just gonna try to charge whatever they want, without checking your insurance. And they do not have good customer service.. At all. I'm about to spend THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS here and you're going to act like I'm a problem questioning what is being done? i dreaded everytime I had to call because of how they made me feel. One is more nice than the other but still both not willing to actually help your problems on the phone. Dr. Cannon and the girls in the back are great, But the receptionist just lost Having us as patients here. And when they read this, they probably won't even care just like how they made me feel on the phone. Hope this helps someone who isn't financially well off and made to feel dumb by this office. You're not the only one!

The dentist came in immediately and painfully injected her, as planned, with a second anesthetic, and started his procedure. The assistant then agreed that the nitrous oxide was off. On July 17th (the next day), after discussion with the office manager, since they would not let me talk to the denist, she agreed not charge me for the gas. I asked for a bill, which was sent to me. That bill showed a $495 credit. 2. Regarding that credit, my wife was told on the day of the procedure that we would receive a check for the difference. Although I expected a charge card credit, we did not receive a check or a charge card credit. I called on August 20th, 2024 to inquire about the refund. I was told it would be sent "within 30 days from today". Since this was now som 35 days after the procedure and a complete billing cycle, I want everyone to know that they will not issue ANY refund until you call them. 3.
