The staff very professional and friendly. The Business Manager has no definition of courtesy, or respect. I would have been more than happy to pay the cost of the estimated services. On March 27,2023 I had a complaint about pain on my left side of my mouth with Aspen Dental. As I've posted below those are the x-rays from Aspen Dental in Gardendale. If I could leave 0 stars I would. But they take great x-rays I'll say that. I recently went to another dentist and they found the problem the same problem that's clearly shown in the X-ray from Aspen last year. Neglect & malpractice to say the least. I am giving Aspen Dental one star because the neglectful care I received leading to a lack of a proper treatment plan is basically malpractice. Aspen Dental failed to diagnose & treat a serious dental issue which resulted in me experiencing a great deal of pain and resulted in an extraction of the tooth. After going to another dentist it was obvious that Aspen Dental didn't view the x-rays that were taken at my visit with them because the cavity was very obvious on the x-ray taken by Aspen Dental in Gardendale back on March 27, 2023. read more

Terrible service. Predatory lending. Overcharging patients. My negative experience had to do with the predatory financing practices of the treatment coordinator. By the time I got to her during my visit, I was in a lot of pain and very upset. When she began her sales pitch, I started crying and was clearly upset. I told her that I just wanted to focus on getting my tooth pain taken care of, but she told me that I could apply for financing for the $6300 in work that the dentist recommended. I told her that I would not qualify for financing, but she again told me that I should apply to see what I might be eligible for and that if I didn't get all of the work done the dentist recommended then I could get it down to $3300. Being in pain and upset, I just wanted to be done so I did what she said. I did qualify for a high interest loan that I did not want, but just to move on and get out I accepted it. They sent me to get a cleaning and while I was there I realized that I didn't know what my insurance was contributing or what treatment I had paid for. I asked to speak to the treatment coordinator before I left and she informed me that my insurance was covering $1000 and I was paying $3300. The treatment included 1 tooth extraction and 2 periodontal cleanings. I asked for clarification and she said it again. I was dumbfounded at the cost. I felt bamboozled and conned into financing these procedures. I called this morning to cancel it after I saw the 5-day policy. I emailed with the Office Manager, who I believe was serving as the Treatment Coordinator that day, and she said it was being taken care of. I asked for follow ups and she never provided any. I was charged again for the predatory loan and when I log in to their portal I see that my balance is less but there's still a balance. There is no way that the service I received was over $1,700. I found a new dental facility and they created a care plan for me that is a fraction of what Aspen Dental wanted to charge me AND the new dentist said there is NO NEED for the tooth extraction. If I had stayed with Aspen Dental, I would have lost more than just money that I could have kept. read more

Choose a different dental office! I made an appointment as a new patient with the end goal of getting a basic dental cleaning. I keep my dental appointments regularly, and always had a great experience at my previous dental office. Today I went to Aspen Dental in Gardendale with an appointment at 10am and I waited in the lobby for a little over 1 hour before being taken back for x rays. Once I was in a room another hour passed and a hygienist came in and did a periodontal exam and then told me I would have to wait to speak with the Doctor and the office manager before they would confirm if they were going to clean my teeth. Which was the whole purpose of me coming to their office that day. Once all of the preliminary new patient items were done, they told me it would be over $400 and it would be multiple visits. I told them I was not interested in all the extra treatment options, that I only wanted a basic dental cleaning. the typical descaling and teeth polishing. They refused to do a basic cleaning only, which is covered by my insurance, until I let them do some expensive and seemingly non-time sensitive procedure. So basically they wasted 3 HOURS of my Saturday to leave me empty handed, no teeth cleaning. I understand that they were short staff which explains the ridiculous wait time but the whole experience was just terrible and I was so disappointed that they refused to clean my teeth. They tell you the initial visit is free, but when I decided to go elsewhere they sent me a bill for $125. When I called the number on the bill they said they were corporate and the issue was with the local office. They said wait a couple of weeks and see if they write it off or I can call back. read more

I scheduled an appointment for consult in Trussville, 15 before my appointment I received a cal stating they close at 4 and they needed to reschedule the appointment. If they would have called earlier in the day that would be fine but to get off work and head to an appointment and literally in the parking lot and get the call stating they need to reschedule because a consult takes 1.5 to 2 hours is absolutely and ridiculous. Also this isn't the first time. If the office closes at a certain time and you're allowed to schedule online for a consult that takes over an hour is not the fault of the patient but whoever does the scheduling. The lady that called was very unprofessional and rude. If a pt called and rescheduled multiple times 15 minutes prior to the appointment they can be either charged or dismissed. Again very unprofessional and rude. WILL NEVER SCHEDULE HERE AGAIN! If I could rate a zero I would. read more

The dental hygienist stabbed my gums really hard, of course they bled! Told me I have periodontal disease and are trying to charge me like $2500. I called my insurance and they said that was too high! Got a 2nd opinion. Their dental hygienist gently probed. The dentist gently probed. No stabbing, no bleeding! They said I do have some bone loss and Saud the deep cleaning I needed could not be done at a regular dentist! I've asked them to refund my money twice, cause they are charging me for services I have not even gotten there yet! I WONT be returning! Just refund my money!! They "diagnosed" me with needing thousands of dollars in treatments, charged my insurance company and took my money. Now they continue to "reschedule" my appointments each time they come up. This has been going on for 3 months with 4 visits canceled last minute by them. Each time it's a different issue for the practice and always last minute. This is by far the worst dental office I have ever been to as far as selling their services! I went in for a small filling that feel out! When I got there the gal that took my x-rays was very friendly. Next came the hygienist shark. SHE LIED and said that I had severe Periodontal Disease!!! When I went to go check out I was quoted $4,700 for the deep cleaning and the filing that I originally went in for and a crown replacement that didn't need it and a couple of other little things. Fast forward I didn't go back I found another dentist that said I had very healthy gums and did not have Periodontal Disease. I am not happy at all with the service I was given!!!! read more

First and foremost, let me explain my EXTREME fear of the dentist. I play it cool until I get called back. This entire experience yesterday was amazing. I'm 30 and I cry when I'm at the dentist after several really bad experiences in the past. I came in with a broken tooth that had been broken for awhile, but it had begun to give me a lot of pain. From the moment, I walked to the back every staff member was so patient and supportive. From Julia, who did my xrays, to the hygienist blonde with braces, all the way to Dr. P (female) who went over my xrays and came up with our plan of attack, then Amanda, the office manager. I needed to get a root canal, and they were able to get me in at 1PM, my original appointment was at 11AM with Dr. Peoples (male) who completed my root canal along with Lindsey and another assistant, who I can't quite remember her name, and I believe another came in as well(the gas has me a little foggy). They were ALL so unbelievably personable and patient with me. The process was quick, I left with the root canal and my temporary crown. They already booked my appointment for my permanent crown as well. I left in some pain as to be expected, the medicine that Dr. Peoples prescribed me worked like a charm, I'm not in pain, the swelling is to a minimum, and I beyond frightened to go back to have other procedures completed. I will be recommending Aspen Dental in Gardendale to everyone I know and especially with anyone who has extreme fear and anxiety when it comes to the dentist. read more

I will never use them again. I had broken off a half of a molar a couple years ago and had discussed the probability of having to have it pulled down the road several times with Aspen. Today was the day that needed to happen. Instead of just pulling the tooth, I was told I would have to come in for a cleaning and exam. Then I would have to go in for a consult. Then I would have to go back to have the tooth pulled. This should not take a week! I called a different dentist. As soon as they knew I was experiencing pain, they got me in, didn't argue with me on what I needed and just pulled the tooth as I asked. I had never been to that dentist before, but will use him from now on. He treated me with so much respect and wasn't focused on trying to up-sell me on unnecessary things or stress. read more

From the beginning we Questioned why my Step fathers Dentures were so thin and some of the Edges of the Dentures were Sharp we made note of it after the first couple days he wore them they made two different pairs of dentures that broke rite down the Middle when my Step Father was Eating Peanuts and when we mentioned about their being a Refund started Talking my Parents like they were Stupid so for that I say be at Caution if you do Business with these people read more

This place should close their doors forever. It is the epitome of dental care failure. I can prove 15 separate incidents where someone there should be written up an or fired but I don't feel like typing that long. The top incident was the oral surgeon left bone fragments in my gums and failed to suture closed gums on the upper area that allowed food to get in there which caused a serious infection that my optometrist and primary care physician said I was lucky I didn't loose my eye on that side. I went back for them to fix their malpractice to find out they were going to charge me another $4700.00. I should be charging them for lost pay. All incidents combined for lost time and goofed up appointments after taking off work to go they owe me $3800.00. Pay me aspen just like you demand payment for your services . read more

Horrible manager. She is in caring and unhelpful. She had me waiting an hour for nothing. My treatment was at 8 and i just left at 9 waiting on nothing. She is the worst manager ever. Her wig is nappy and crooked and her make up is ridiculous. I was quoting one price and ended up paying way more than expect. I was charge for nitrous that i did not use. And she failed to put it both of my insurance. She hades things to the plan without telling me and i did not approve. And on top of that she had the insurance completely work so before i can get my permanent crown i paid for i have to pay even more money. Because of her she made my experience the worst ever but the hygienist and desk assistant were perfect. Never again will i go to Aspen Dental in Gardendale al off of the walker chapel exit. Well, they say oh I love your teeth! They are so perfect and white, no cavities. But, you "have" stage 2 of 4 periodontal disease and bone loss, bone you will never get back, but we can stop it from getting worse. I work for the state so I was just thinking I could come in, get the free x-rays, exam, and a normal cleaning then go home and it cost little to nothing. Next thing I knew, I was in a chair going over financing a treatment plan for my "periodontal disease". Then it's like the dentist has to agree with whatever the hygienist says. They wanted me to have a $135 toothbrush, antibiotics for under my gums, special mouthwash, and it was gonna be over $4000 out of pocket. My insurance didn't cover much if any of it. They just want your money, they couldn't try to make money off my teeth so they went for my gums and my bone. I have no pain and no symptoms of having an infection at all, other than now from them poking around at my gums. I just wanted a basic checkup with a cleaning. Not to have to think oh dang if I do this treatment plan, can I pay my car payment? Mortgage? Feed my family? They said I have a nice smile but they don't want me to lose all the bone holding my teeth in. It was a waste of my time. I went there like 10 years ago when I was 17, I am 27 now. At that time, they said I needed all 4 wisdom teeth removed ASAP because if not, it would mess up everything my braces helped. Same day they took them all out. They do not care if you are in pain and I really wish that they did. I will use them but warning if you are hurting when you get there you will be hurting 10 times worse when you leave. They cannot pull the teeth today so take antibiotics and go be in pain. I wish they would have at least given me some other options - heating pad, ice rinse with salt water etc. BUT NOTHING just leave and take the antibiotics. I am at a loss for words read more

The clasp on my Partial broke off as I was talking. I swallowed part of this! My insurance company/I was charged 474 dollars for a teeth cleaning( I told them my teeth had already been cleaned!) I thought I was given a bottle of mouth wash ,my insurance paid 23 dollars for this. I was told my gum where receding and was why my teeth were going to be cleaned again. After the procedure I was told there was no cure for this. The cap I got fits to tight I cant get dental floss through it and my other tooth!!!! read more

Worst dental office ever. The assistants are very nice. However, the receptionist is a old rude sourpuss, the lab they use is incompetent, and it should not take 6 months and 3 returns to get a correctly fitting crown. They know I work during the day, so they leave messages for me to try to reschedule my appt the next day, when I couldn't possibly have a chance to double check my work schedule. I asked them three times to give me more lead time when they need to reschedule and they never listened. They are so penny pinching that it took over an hour to numb me, because they used so little Novocaine in each shot. Then after poking around with the shots, testing for pain (yeah it was STILL hurting) I waited an hour to them to come back and the numbing had worn off. Geez, do not EVER go here! read more
