Predatory financial practices, lack of accountability and non-responsiveness. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I visited for emergent care to which I was given a treatment plan from the Office Manager, Alex. He laid out a timeline (4-6months total timeframe), cost of treatment and all that. I had to take out a $2499 loan right then, with a $249 downpayment to get my treatment scheduled. I did so, had the first part of treatment and then was told the rest had to wait 6-9 months. This was a SHOCKER to me, and I was met with dismissiveness and "well the office manager doesn't lay out treatment plans" excuses, however he was the ONLY one we spoke to in regards to the treatment plan. So clearly he was out of his scope. Now they have $2401.08 they are holding of money already paid to them from the finance agreement only they can cancel (I called HFD, they have an exclusive agreement with Aspen and only Aspen can end finance agreements since they have the money already). They haven't gotten back to me ONCE since I began talking about this issue in April. read more

Update on my last review: It's been a month and nobody has gotten in contact with me. No calls for rescheduling, no emails explaining what went wrong. The claim that they're "actively reviewing my concerns" is either a blatant lie or the truest look into how Aspen Dental treats their patients. Every day that passes is another step backwards in my Invisalign process. What a nightmare. I have been dealing with Aspen Dental in Glastonbury since July 2025 regarding my dental crowns and Invisalign treatment, and unfortunately, the problems have only continued into 2026. Timeline of Events: July 10 & 14, 2025: Received my temporary crowns. October 21, 2025: Still no permanent crowns, despite multiple calls, visits, and promises. January 2026: Treatment is still being delayed. Despite Dr. M's assurance that my Invisalign would be covered, Aspen Dental is now saying it won't be. Because of their delays and poor communication, my teeth continue to shift, and my treatment is being compromised. I've contacted the office manager and corporate multiple times, but responses are inconsistent, and promised callbacks never happen. As a high-risk pregnant patient, this ongoing lack of care and accountability is not just frustrating--it's unacceptable. Dealing with Aspen Dental has been a nightmare. Especially the Glastonbury ct office. In spite of numerous calls the office manager is always busy and will call back. I'm still waiting almost 3 months. I started at the Manchester office. Beware. Because what they explain to you about costs is not always truthful. I contacted the billing office who basically cannot help. But was told I was being over billed by over $1000. They were going to contact the Glastonbury office (where the extractions were done). I contacted Aspen Dental to ask about teeth whitening. They told me I needed a full exam including xrays. I explained I was under the care of a dental practice and didn't need the xrays, but if they needed to do an exam, fine. I received a followup call asking about me wanting an appt for dental implants. I explained that was incorrect, I was only looking for info on their teeth whitening, didn't need xrays, didn't need implants. They said fine, just tell them you don't want the xrays. I came to my appt today, filled out the lengthy medical data info and they took me back. I explained I didn't want the xrays, I was only there for info on teeth whitening. They put me in waiting room and then came back and said the Dr. won't see you. I won't speak to you or do any exam for teeth whitening or anything else without xrays. This is totally different than what they told me on the phone. I the phone they even offered to do the whitening the same day if I wanted. I feel this was a total bait and switch. All businesses are trying to make a profit, but this seems liked a money generating factory. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your dental care. read more

I had a 15 minute cleaning and they are trying to charge me nearly $1300. The officer staff kept blaming my insurance, but I kept saying "forget about insurance, if I walked in off the street and got a 15 minute cleaning, it's $1300?" Did not get any good answers from the office staff. Am escalating it to the Attorney Generals office. read more

This place has its ups and downs. One plus is that they are able to accommodate you as long as you have insurance that they accept. The office is nice, clean, and professional. One downside is that the service could be better. My insurance incentives apply as long as they bill the right procedure. I asked the office to bill a certain procedure more than once and I missed out on cash incentives because they failed to bill the correct procedure. I ended up getting charged more than expected as well. read more

this is an update to my original review. I was recently contacted by Aspen Dental. Still no mention of them accepting responsibility for the damage they did to my partial. My experience at Aspen dental was not good at all. I went there for a fractured tooth that was causing me severe pain that woke me up at night and made it difficult to eat. I worked with my insurance company to get me in as soon as possible and Aspen obliged. When I arrived at my appointment they went right to work taking soooo many X-rays and a panorax X-ray. I told them numerous times that I was there because I had a broken tooth that was causing severe pain. They assured me that they would address that when I saw the dentist. Eventually I met with the dentist. She was very nice. She examined my mouth for about 2 minutes. Then she told me that she had reviewed my X-rays and there were a lot of teeth that needed fixing. She explained that I needed teeth removed and partial dentures and dental implants. I was devastated. I asked her again about the tooth that was causing me pain. She said that I would have to talk to the treatment plan coordinator to set that up. When I met with the treatment plan coordinator she gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done and how much it would cost. The total cost would be $38,512 ($11285.65 with insurance). I asked her about the tooth that I need to have fixed and she said that I need to contact my insurance company because they couldn't do anything about it . She said I needed to contact an Endodontist for that. So after all that, I left still in pain. I have contacted the BBB and plan on speaking with my union representative. Staff rotates quickly which is good when you employ some of the rudest front desk and the most argumentative staff a patient could ever encounter. Got a call to come in 5 days early for a crown appointment and I showed up 90 minutes after they called me for the time they requested. Sat in waiting room 40 minutes. Why would they call me in days early if they were running so far behind? And they didn't tell me they were running behind when I showed up. Just left me waiting. By the way, not the first time. Each time I wait and wait. Only one cleaning appointment they were on time. For other dental work, they clearly overbook and more, since every appointment I've had (other then one timely cleaning) in Glastonbury, has left me sitting endlessly in the waiting room. They will do everything in one office. But they will tell you that you need thousands of dollars of work and then sell you all the different ways to pay for it. They care about the money, not the client. Yes, they will take care of your toothache and clean your teeth but much more, clean your wallet. But sadly, most of us have no other option available to us. read more

The staff is nice enough but every 6 months (every time I go there) I feel like I have to handle billing issues because who ever handles billing is unable to handle the responsibility... it's getting ridiculous. Update October 2017: I was contacted about the above matter by the GM. I was promised reparations but they were never received. I later went to an appointment, I was told I need a service (I think fillers or caps? I don't recall the service) which is typically for teens and usually useless for adults ... at the same appointment I was also told I need a nightguard to prevent me from grinding my teeth, and that I've been grinding for years, however I've been wearing a plastic retainer for three years and if that were true my retainer would be chewed clean through by now... So I will leave my rating standing and will move to another office. read more

I am pleased with how quickly they were able to get me in and fitted for dentures, I m so excited to have dentures in a couple of days. I have to say the gentleman Kevin who did my moldings was very good with me . I was having a anxiety attack and kevin talked me through the whole thing and told me exactly everything he was doing as he was doing it and it kept my mind busy. I fell into the Aspen Dental trap a few years when they were one of the only local providers within my insurance network at the time. BIG mistake. Your first appointment will turn into one of the biggest sales pitches you've ever seen. They sit you down and come at you with some sort of RIDICULOUS treatment plan that they draw up. I had no cavities at the time, yet they felt I needed $1500 of treatment. Regular cleanings don't exist at this clown factory - instead they con you into 2 separate 'deep cleaning' visits, complete with Novocain. Fun!! I could go on and on... The last straw came when I needed an emergency wisdom tooth extraction one day. I give them credit for getting me in on short notice, but once I sat in the chair everything changed. The dentist was so rude, and unprofessional, I couldn't even believe it. He was visibly annoyed that he had to do this procedure, and he actually said something to the effect of "couldn't this wait?" Hmm, no @hole, this thing is kinda killing me! He went on to viciously pump me up with about 30 shots of Novocain in 5 seconds. He was just jabbing away. My tooth hurt so bad at the time that I didn't even care, but really this is NOT cool. 10 minutes later he ripped my tooth out, threw some gauze in my mouth, handed me a prescription, and told me I was all set. That was it. Now, I'm not looking to be wined and dined here, but this was unacceptable practice. The place sucks. Don't mess with these national dental chains! read more

I really do like the people there but it's becoming clear to me that the way the business is set up does not give the dentist enough time to do reliable work. Both of my temporary crowns fell out several times during meals. I'm glad they didn't go down my throat. Every time they had a sense of humor about gluing them back in and I figured the awfulness would be over when they put in the permanent one. Nope, that one fell out when I was back home on break and I had to have my old dentist put it in. The fact that my former dentist could make it stick and these folks could not, plus even the filling they did doesn't fit well and is attracting bits of food, means I have to say this is almost worse than nothing. I have been going to Aspen Dental off and on for the last few years. I recently had fillings and a cleaning within the last month. Strengths: The staff is very friendly and accommodating to your needs. Everyone I encountered from the dental assistants to the office manager were pleasant. The cleaning I got was quick, but thorough and the dentally hygienist explained things about dental hygiene very well! Needs: I had 2 new fillings and 4 fillings refilled. All 6 fillings are completed over 2 appts. I do have to say that the dental assistant was not paying attention to the suction consistently. I also felt that the dentist could have been gentler. I think I may try a new dental office for my future dental needs. read more

Clinical staff very nice and professional. I think I benefit from the latest and greatest technologies. Business side people are somewhat 'by the book' strident, do not understand service to the patient and have business systems process issues which effects the overall patient experience. My own now 'not so small' issue has been partially resolved. The remainder, and 'most important' piece is still nebulous as of this writing. If they are not incentivized, unwilling or even unable to resolve, I will need need to undertake a laborious effort to resolve personally. I had a balance due as insurance didn't cover. I was never invoiced, nor contacted by phone, and the past due aged over 90 days and I automagically handed over to their collection agency for $35. I have been an Aspen patient going on 18 years. Although Aspen credited me the $35, as a "courtesy", I fear this has been reported to the big three, with my credit rating adversely affected. Aspen seems to be stumped on how to resolve their self inflicted error. I do feel bad about having to detail this. I would just rather Aspen completely clears up the issue, rather than credit me $35 and then make it my problem. I also wished that ownership would reach out. That did not happen as of this writing. In November 2017 I was turned away because I forgot my FSA credit card and had to make another appointment. I have been invoiced by them in the past as well as showing up with the balance due that I promptly resolved. This office is horrible. Every time i call with a question I get an automated message telling me the office hours and to call back when the office is open. Problem is I AM CALLING WHEN THE OFFICE IS OPENED. I have told many people in the office of this problem but it never gets fixed. It happened just today. I originally scheduled to the Manchester office, got there on time only to wait a half hour and be told I couldn't be seen due to their X-ray machine not working. I asked if I can have my X-rays sent over as I just took them not even a month ago. The doctor refused claiming he wanted his own X-rays. I went to be seen in Glastonbury . The dentist was nice as was the staff, however when I made the appointment I was told that there was a promotion going on and that I could get half off on a set of dentures. I am only 30 years old and the idea of me having to wear dentures causes me a lot of depression and anxiety but I understand it's what needed to be done. Also my wedding is coming up and I'm worried that I won't have teeth by the time my wedding comes. I've been in so much pain with my current teeth I was just waiting for the dentures in order to have my teeth removed so that I'm not walking around with no teeth in my mouth. When the Aspen dental operator told me that there was a promotion for denture I was so relieved. However when I went in for my appointment I was told that that promotion is only for patients who are getting their second denture. I was so upset. I've been in so much pain with my actual teeth, I work long hours so I can't take the pain meds I was prescribed and this was so unprofessional. I feel like it's their mistake , and they should have upheld the fee I was told since it was their error, very disappointed with this office. read more

My first experience was today 2/17/17 and let me tell you this place should be shut down. I had an 8 a.m. appointment right when they opened. They took me in to take x-rays and I should've walked out right away. The trash barrel was full and full of bloody items and things were on the floor and the girl just kicked it out of the way. I'm definitely reporting them to Hazmat and the Health Department. Then they took me in a room where a dental hygienist picked at me teeth and told me I needed thousands of dollars of work done or i was going to lose all my teeth. I just had an exam 6 months ago along with x-rays, cleaning and had the few teeth that I needed fixed. These people just give you a bunch of BS to make you feel that if you dont spend thousands of dollars you'll lose all your teeth. Its all a scam! Stay away from this place! They should be shut down permanently. I only came in today because I chipped a tooth and our new insurance isn't accepted at my previous dentist. The dentist then came in and he was rude and again tried telling me I needed all kinds of dental work and that my bones were deterorating. I knew it was a scam and I picked up my stuff and walked out. I'm processing a complaint with the Health Department and Hazmat. You bet i took pictures!!! AND I'm not paying the bill! Every time I have an appointment, I am always waiting for at least 20 minutes or more. The last time I had an appointment, I got there at 8 a.m. and I was the first patient. I waited again for 30 minutes and then was told that the dentist was going to be there in about 15 minutes. The dentist wasn't even in the office and they had me sit there for 30 minutes. Of course it would have been a total of 45 minutes. By the time the dentist would be able to see me it would have been at least an hour of sitting and waiting for an appointment I had first thing in the morning. I had to reschedule due to my schedule. The Glastonbury, CT Aspen Dental is very unprofessional and disorganized. I had a 8am Saturday appointment and showed up to see the office wasn't open. I called a dozen times before being able to speak to someone in the new patient department. The woman was very helpful but told me she saw my crown appointment was cancelled due to an emergency. First of all, I don't have nor do I need a crown. This tells me they had the wrong information in their system. Secondly, I was never contacted to be notified of the cancellation and reschedule my appointment. I told the operator woman that and she said gave me the number they called. It was an old number of mine from years ago. I've been to Aspen Dental over a dozen times since my number changed and know it's updated in my file because they've called my new phone number plenty of times. To add insult to injury, the woman said to call the customer service team to file a complaint so I did that very next Monday. I filed a complaint and was told the office manager would reach out to me. To this day (about 2-3 weeks later) no call. I will NOT spend another dollar at Aspen Dental. I had a bad experience at the Farmington location where I waited an hour and a half in the waiting room when I had an appointment. The receptionist didn't give me any heads up that there would as long of a wait or apologize for the inconvenience or offer to reschedule my appointment. NEVER AGAIN. Aspen Dental Glastonbury and Farmington are VERY DISORGANIZED AND UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

This place is a scam!!!! They were one of the only local providers within my insurance network at the time and was basically forced to go there. I have never been to a dental practice and felt like it was dealing with a car salesman. When I got there they said they had to a general screening to get a sense of what they would be dealing with, which I was fine with. After the scan and tooth graph x-ray I knew I was in the wrong place. They called in the dentist and I was told about 85 thing ( a bit of an exaggeration) was wrong with my teeth. according to them I had cavities, serious gum disease, I needed bridge work and teeth pulled. I have been to other dentist before so I had an idea of what condition my teeth were in. After explaining I only needed a cleaning, the Doctor seemed to almost be pissed with me. I was walked over to billing where they put all the things I would need in the system despite me telling them all I wanted was a basic cleaning. My bill would of been $645 out of pocket for that one visit, and they expected me to have follow up appointments every 6 months. I was amazed and told them most defiantly not! I explained again all I wanted was a cleaning and was told they were not allowed to do so, they had to go by their practice standards and only perform what was diagnosed. When I realized it was a way for them to make money I argued with the billing person because I was not understanding how a cleaning was not possible and would not help. I did not want the gum treatment because I knew there was nothing wrong with my gums and i did not want the teeth whiting that would alone would cost me $459 out of pocket. To this day I can not understand why I could not get a general tooth cleaning. They are basically robbing people blind and most defiantly taking advantage of the elderly. About 10 years ago when my dentist opted out of my dental insurance plan, I chose ASPEN Dental of Glastonbury, CT to replace him. I wasn't totally happy with this office from the beginning as it didn't have the personalized touch that my prior dentist had. You never had the same dentist twice, and there seemed to be new dentists all the time. Plus there were long waits while having an appointment, sometimes 1 to 2 hours to get in.. But I received adequate treatment and the cost was adequate under my insurance. That has totally changed and I dropped ASPEN. Here is the story. About 6 weeks ago I thought I had a cracked filling and made an appointment. When I went in they told me that I needed a root canal and a crown. I made a subsequent appointment for the root canal and the specialist told me that the root canal and crown would not last as there wasn't enough tooth to sustain it. I appreciated that. So it was recommended to me to have the tooth pulled and have an implant or bridge. I opted for the bridge and had the tooth pulled. Coincidentally I had x-rays and a cleaning scheduled prior to moving on to the bridge work. So I went in for this appointment and another dentist looked at my x-rays and said: "I don't like the looks of these x-rays, when did you have your last exam?". I told him, "you tell me" as I go in faithfully every 6 months for my cleaning and exam as they recommend. The dentist tells me I had 10, that's right TEN, cavities and starts leaving the room. I said, wait a minute, how do 10 cavities get missed if I go in there every 6 months, shouldn't you have caught this? I never got a satisfactory answer. So I scheduled an appointment for the fillings. When I got home my wife said to me, why don't you get a second opinion? I went to her dentist who took more x-rays and examined me and said I had 3 cavities, not TEN! So either Aspen was scamming me or were inaccurate in their prior exams. I any event, they were wrong in their assessment of my condition. This makes me suspect as to the need for the root canal. Others may have a different experience, but I was with Aspen for a long time. I have lost trust and faith in Aspen and won't go back to them. I am going to go to my wife's dentist. read more

go for the free exam and free xrays then have them send the xrays to a real dentist. my experience was the x-ray technician girl was rude. the doctor intentionally hurt me with frosted instrument into my decayed tooth. the nicest woman in there was the lady at the end trying to talk me into six thousand dollars of dental work including a root canal. I had my xrays sent to a University of Connecticut graduate dentist. He recommended either a crown or implant absolutely no mention of a root canal. this place reminds me of a ripoff Automotive repair shop. read more

I was very disappointed that I went in for a cleaning and x-rays (normal check up) and ended up having only x-rays and them 'fitting me in' for the cleaning and paying $91 for the service that should have been free. I ended up being told I need this special rinse and for $56 they applied it to my gums and $35 to take the rest of the bottle they opened home. I felt like I had been suckered. Then they set me up for another appointment that will cost me $76 to finish the cleaning and their 'preventative program'. I will be cancelling that appointment for sure. read more

My kids(9 yrs and 7 yrs) had their first dental appt and guess we did not wait too long. But the second and third appt waiting time was too long. For their 2nd and 3rd appt we waited almost 1 hour and 2 hrs respectively. During the 2nd appt, they had to extract a pre molar as it had decayed, but the doc ended up extracting the canine also as it was already shaking. They charged me for extracting both ,total $80 . I was like I would have left the canine to fall by itself if I had known that they would charge me $40 extra!! Later they asked me to bring my kid after 2 weeks to place a spacer so that the new tooth had enough space to come properly. But I did not get any msg or call abt the appt. After 3 weeks I called them to enquire ,they said the appt was cancelled,( without consulting me??!!). I fixed up a new appt. Which was after 2 weeks!! And this time the doctor said that he will not b able to place a spacer as the tooth had already erupted :( We waited for 2 hrs, 1 pm was our appt and the procedure started at 3,my kid sat idle on the chair for an hour after they gave anesthesia to fill two more teeth,as doctor had many other patients. And also to collect the receipt I had to wait another 10 mins!! Overall it was a bad experience especially with kids, will surely not go there again. I thought these things happened only in my country where population is too high. read more
