Dishonest billing. The way they handle estimates and payments is unethical. They tried to have me sign the pad and pay $110 when I was in the chair! I said no, and she said it was a mistake and let it go (?!?) DON'T SIGN anything without reading it very carefully. They ask you to sign a pad at the front desk. I wish I had taken a picture of the pad, scrolled down to the end, and opened & recorded everything. They attached that scribble pad signature to my agreement to charges for a later appointment (no explanation, just sign the pad on the way in). The initial visit is like visiting a bad car dealer. They take you to the business office and try to upsell you (when you're vulnerable, after ex-rays). The actual dental staff is great and the environment is good. The care I received was great. The dentist and assistants were professional, friendly, caring, and had great communication. My filling and crown were taken care of faster than I expected. Awful Doctors. I went there a few months ago because I had pain in a tooth, I guess it was broken, they removed the whole tooth and I was painful the doctor it was so rude she didn't care. I ask her a few questions she didn't wanted to answer. NEVER GO HERE. They also charge you extra for things and they give you a "free electric brush-teeth" but is in your bill. read more

I went in December because I recently moved to the area. I had an issue with a tooth and was only offered one option. Sent me to an endodontist who was more helpful. Also had a teeth cleaning and cost me more than I have ever paid anywhere in the Past 20 years. That was with dental insurance. Be wary! Definitely up sell you for things you really don't need. Very difficult to get your records and X-rays from, even though I paid a small fortune for them. Had to physically go down and sign the release. Did that over a week before my 2nd opinion. HORRIBLE crown experience. I had a crown put on by Dr. Nicole Totten and experienced significant pain after. I went in for the pain and nothing was done. 1 week later two foreign bodies came out of my gum where the new crown was, the severe pain subsided. After weeks of working to get my medical records from Aspen, the X-rays show the crown was not put on correctly (confirmed by another dentist) and it shows the cement piece stuck in my gums. I've reached out to the regional manager (Kiefer Dugenske) twice with no response in two weeks. I'm looking into legal action. Please go to a smaller owned dentist who cares for their patients. read more

I waited 45 minutes for my cleaning appointment before being told that new patients can not get their teeth cleaned. Isn't that why one visits a dentist office? Preventative care isn't a priority here. read more

I recently needed to choose a new dentist due to a change in my insurance carrier. I am pleased to say I made an excellent choice, Aspen Dental in Grandville. I really feel heard by Dr. Miller and his assistant Cheyenne. That is especially important to me. It helps relieve any angst I may have going into a procedure. I am always greeted in a friendly manner and made to feel welcome. I have been recommending this office to my friends and family. They are the best! read more

Absolutely terrible experience.Made an "emergency" appointment on a Friday for a Monday and was told that I could have an exam and filling on that day. When I arrived I had an exam with an absolutely clueless dentist, who I found out later was a "temp who will no longer be working with us", but received no treatment because they said they had booked 60 appointments for that day. I was scheduled for treatment 10 days later was asked to prepay for that treatment which I had never heard of and made me very uncomfortable but I did so anyway. When I arrived for that next appointment, I was told I couldn't be seen because I was 10 minutes late. After a bunch more run around I canceled any appointments I had with them and requested a refund on the services I prepaid for but did not receive. Jury is still out on whether I will actually receive it or not. This place is a total chain, for-profit only, "practice" with terrible service, overbooked schedule, and questionable doctors. read more

Aspen dental, where you're welcomed with a HIPPA violation and foul language right when you step in. Sadly, I thought this would be a great place to go since they were one of the few in-network providers listed by my insurance. I felt uneasy right when I stepped in and was asked to sign my name, hello HIPPA violation, the front desk staff were very hard to overhear with their foul mouth conversation. Inheard the f bomb drop, someone being labeled a douche bag among other talk that was extremely inappropriate. Should I stay or go now? I should have gone. The technician takes me in to a FILTHY ex ray (closet) where I have to have film shoved in my mouth in front of everyone (no privacy here) the technician reeks of smoke, she keeps touching the buttons and machines then my mouth. I lost track of how many times. (NASTY) I'm set in a filthy seat, with a dirty tray sitting in front of me. The technician comes in with a scribe and starts shouting off all these numbers. (This is a first for me) and tells me after that I have the beginning of severe Parodontose, that needs treating. I think I saw the dentist for 3 min before i was shuffled off to the financial department to discuss payment options. HUH? Payment options? 2 visits a year are covered with cleaning by my insurance. Confused and extremely uncomfortable I sit there when the manager walked in clicking in numbers and tells me my balance will be almost 2,000! To say the least my jaw fell to the ground when she offered a $500 coupon. After telling her that there is no way I was going to pay that kind of money she kept clicking away. She took off the cancer test (thanks. Never asked for that anyway) Applied more discounts. And got my bill to around $1000.00 that's still nuts and I have no clue why I said yes to that garbage. Ok, for a 1000 teeth cleaning you can expect the world. Not at aspen dental. I had to hold the suction while she cleaned my teeth, spitting down my face because I have no clue what I'm going. Then after finishing with, she said she was done. I said huh? This doesn't even include a polish? That's seriously the best part. She said nope. We will do that at your next visit and it will only cost you $142 dollars :) When checking out I was a bit angry with how this place runs, that I didn't even check my bill while checking out. Without asking if you want it, they give you toothpaste and mouthwash that added up to around $70 dollars (if I remember correctly) Shortly after this Disastrous visit, I was speaking to a patient of mine who, happened to be a private practice dentist, he let me know just how ludicrous this was. And, he let me know that even being out of network, all I would have to pay with him would have been around $120. Never again Aspen dental. read more

My father in law has been to Aspen Dental in Grandville, MI at least three times in the last two months. He originally needed his dentures repaired (which broke again within a week). Then he decided to purchase new dentures (big mistake to do that here). First problem, the receptionist. She was extremely rude, and should not be the first contact new customers are "greeted" with. Second problem, they seemed much more interested in how much money you were good for, rather than the best interest of their patient. Third problem, if there is a problem with the work that they performed, they suddenly have no time or appointments available for you. All in all, I am extremely sorry that I was the one that referred him to this place. read more

This place has done nothing but treat my mother like garbage. They pulled out all her teeth, took her money, and now will not give her the time of day to help her. She has not been able to wear her dentures at all, and she has been in multiple times and no one helps her. Stay away from these corporate dentist offices! Great office. The folks are clean and helpful and the care is exellent. When my crown arrived from the lab just a tone off, Dr. Miller insisted on sending it back and getting the perfect color match. The office is well managed and appointments are timely. read more

Super disappointed in this place. Went in for a consultation...dental assistant's attitude was the only good thing I can comment on, she was very pleasant...other than that the dentist was rushed, cold and made it very apparent that I was just a number, spent MAYBE 5 minutes with me. The place is odd because the rooms are wide open, so you are literally sitting next to a complete stranger while getting your services done (lady next to me was getting her teeth done)....also (and the most disturbing part) was going over the financial aspect of the treatment...the bill was HUGE and there was a charge for a toothbrush costing $135 on the estimate that no one ever spoke to me about. Never went back, found a dentist elsewhere that quoted me LESS THAN HALF the cost of this place. Terrible, terrible, terrible. On 3/15/16, I had my first appointment at Aspen Dental and that will also be my last appointment. This place is disgusting and a joke. I don't know where to start with this experience. (1) The person doing my x-rays was clearly a smoker (no offense to those who use tobacco products), but she kept positioning the x-ray contraption in my mouth with her hands reaking of smoke. How unsanitary that she was putting her hands on the very same mouth piece that was going into my mouth and then she would go back to her computer, and then come back and re-position the x-ray contraption. (2) The equipment at that office is from the dinosaur ages. The chair I sat in to get my teeth cleaned was stained from who knows what. (3) The dental hygienist half-assed my teeth cleaning. Some teeth were over looked. When she was done, she applied this fluoride gunk on my teeth that was like putting white gel all over my mouth. It clumped up and it was between the cracks of my teeth right after I got them cleaned (tell me how that makes any sense). (4) The dentist saw me for about a minute and I had to explain to him why I am having jaw pain. It's as if he never reviewed my x-rays. I told him it was my top 2 wisdom teeth and he told me they were not coming down. I then told him they are not coming down, because they are coming out of the sides of my gum. That's when he put his finger in my mouth and felt what I was talking about and then agreed that was what was causing me pain. It's as if he wasn't knowledgeable at all and I had to be the one to tell him, instead of him telling me. (5) No one even went over my x-rays with me at all. I called them today (3/16/16) and requested for my x-ray to be mailed to me. (6) I got a quote for having my 2 wisdom teeth removed and the total is $1482 for 2 teeth. Of that, my insurance is paying $1004.50, leaving me with a $477.60 balance. I don't have a problem with the balance. The problem I have is that they are charging the insurance almost $1500 when I got a quote today (the next day after my appointment) with my mother's dentist office, and they are going to charge me $500 total cash. Tell me what's wrong with this picture? It's called ripping off the insurance. This office is terrible. I would not recommend it to anyone. I have filed a formal complaint with Aetna and I have removed this office as my primary dentist. I will also tell as many people as I can about this terrible office. I'm sure this office would be amazing... in a third world country. read more

This is my second Aspen Dental location and both of them seemed ok. They worked with my schedule and found me an appointment where both I and my child could be seen at the same time. When we arrived early, they managed to squeeze us in before the actual appointment time. Just basic check-ups and cleaning but they did a good job. My one peeve is that the online appointment scheduling tool is only available for first-time patients and not for returning patients. Online appointment scheduling would be a great tool. read more

I was a new patient to Aspen Dental. I made an appointment for a basic cleaning and I called the office again to reconfirm my appointment date. My appointment time was for 11:00 am, but I was not seen until 11:45am after I asked the receptionist if they were running extremely late. The X-ray and a quick 5-10min exam from the doctor is free for new patients. After my quick examination. the office manager sat me down in her office to go over payment to schedule my next appointment to actually get the cleaning. I was pissed because when I called the office twice beforehand there was no mentioning that the initial appointment would not be cleaning. Other dentists I have visited in the past did the xray, examination, and a cleaning on a first visit. I left Aspen at 12:15pm for an overall 15min briefing. I am sure with the conversations I overheard behind the desk about making dinner plans and complaining about customer followups via phone, they do not value customer service or the customer's personal time for an invalid appointment. read more
