I am new to the area so I received a flyer in the mail…read moreadvertising a $49 exam and full mouth x rays plus a free cleaning for new patients so I decided to try them out. Then after examining me they said the normal cleaning would not do anything for me, and I needed a 'FMD' Full mouth debridement that would be $185 in addition to the other services they quoted me for totaling $1260. When I refused the services that I did not come for they refused to give me a regular cleaning and escorted me out. They mentioned that the flyer has an asterisk that mentions the cleaning is only in the absence of periodontal disease which I obviously do not have. Mind you, I have good dental hygiene, never have had a cavity in my life, non smoker, eat almost no sugar, brush and floss regularly and even use a metal pick at home like they use during cleanings. I asked again 3 times to various employees there if I could just opt for the regular cleaning that I came for and they refused and said It would do nothing for me, which makes no sense and says a lot about them. Total waste of my time and money. Completely dishonest and unethical business practices. Would not recommend an enemy to go there.

On October 3 I call to make an emergency appointment which i had to reschedule for today due to an urgent issue with social security that I had to resolve. I call this morning b4 my appointment with my dental insurance on the line. Turns out they hadn't sent any request until October 3 the same day I called for the emergency appointment. The woman for lack of a better word who spoke to me & the insurance was super dismissive and condescending & RUDE she got caught in her lazy lie and didn't like it. They maybe in Miami Lakes but belong in liberty city. I am glad I figured this out early on. Very eager to charge my grandmothers care credit card when I have $5,000 available from my private insurance between now and January for any service needed. May you have better luck than I did if you come here. They wasted about 4 weeks of my time on nothing. Tuesday I have an appointment with a new dentist.

I want to preface this…read moreby saying i am a physician- and MD who works at Jackson Memorial hospital and has to deal with other technicians on a day to day basis. I also want to say the dental physicians are excellent- I don't have a problem with them at all. My exam was thorough and complete. I went in after not seeing a dentist after a year and a half because of a hectic work schedule. After being evaluated by the dentist, i was recommended a deep cleaning. I told the dentist i choose to opt out of it and just get the regular cleaning. Firstly I don't believe in the deep cleaning being any better and I don't have the time and lastly my crappy HMO insurance doesn't cover the full cost. The dentist very quickly agreeded no problem just sign a paper saying u only want a regular cleaning . The hygenist then approached me and gave me a very bad attitude- and said that the dentist recommended a deep clean and under the law she doesn't have to do a regular clean . (Btw the deep clean was 400 bucks out of my pocket) . I said I will waive every right I just need the calculus and tarter picked off and a cleaning which I've always had. I've read extensively about deep cleaning and ultimately me and many ppl online agree it's A SCAM! the hygenist wanted to pocket more money in the same time it would take her to do a regular cleaning. I was then taken to a private office after I tried to talk to the dentist again about the problem I was having. I WORK IN THE HEALTH CARE FIELD! I AS A PATIENT GET TO CHOOSE THE KIND OF CARE I WANT. I do not want a deep clean and I was forced to make the decision to get one. After the dentist tried t talk to the hygenist an Asian woman who seemed to be the lead hygenist vs the office manager took me to a private office and gave me the excuse that the hygenist doesn't want to Put her license on the line cause I didn't have a cleaning in 1 yr and if she cleaned my teeth and I got infective endocarditis (a heart infection) then I could sue them even after I said I would waive all rights and that the dentist said it was ok. I then said if I got the deep cleaning and opted out of the 300 dollars worth of antibiotics- which r research proven to be not significant in decreasing a heart infection- it would be ok. Cause insigned a waiver (and also paid 200 bucks for...) HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE AT ALL. The doctor, the boss- said it's OK to get a regular cleaning and I was forced to get a deep cleaning. I ultimately chose to stop listening to the office manager all together and just left . I came in with a request which the dentist agreeded to. It was very simple. I should have never been involved. The hygenist is employed by the dentist and any issue should have been between them not the patient. THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. It' was and is always about money. THIS WAS HANDS DOWN THE WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD. I was treated horribly. I felt scammed by a hygenist of all people- and they knew they were talking to a physician! NO DOUBT THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE MEDICAL KNOWELDGE. I am on the board of resident life at Jackson Hospital which happens to employ the largest number of residents in the country. The HMO coverage provided by my workplace covers very few dentists and MANY residents chose this dentists office. I will make sure every single resident I work with will know this story and stop coming to this practice.

Instead of providing me with my service she began to waste a lot of time by explaining her experience and background. She boasted that she also works for Nova clinic. Ultimately she pressured me into a deep cleaning that was not covered by my insurance. The cost was in excess of $400.00. After applying aggressive pressure for approximately half an hour, she said it was my choice to proceed with the deep cleaning and unfortunately I did. On January 7, 2023, I went into the office for a cleaning, which is covered under my insurance. When I checked in, the front desk informed me that I was no longer eligible for a regular cleaning because I had a deep cleaning in August so I had to have another deep cleaning. This was not covered by my issuance so I would have to pay again out of pocket. No one from the office explained to me that if I agreed to do a deep cleaning, that I would no longer be "eligible" for a regular cleaning. After waiting for half an hour I was finally called in by Ms. Benner. She again described her experience and bragged about the fact that she also works at Nova. Then she began aggressively pressure me into another deep cleaning. I explained to her that I have been waiting for half an hour and the only thing I am there for is a regular cleaning. I told her that I am not finally prepared to pay for something that is not covered by my insurance. She said that finances are not her concern. She also said that she is not going to "perform the services I requested, she will do what she wants." The is the second time that Ms. Brenner attempted to force services onto me. She was condescending, rude, and in my opinion unethical.
