Judgement free and welcoming! Not sure why this office is reviewed so negatively. I have had a great experience with all of the staff and the one phone call I had to make was answered quickly. I felt that they could have explained my treatment plan better as I didn't realize that parts of it were optional add-ons and parts of it were necessary (Google to the rescue). However, it was very easy to change my treatment plan and the extras were not pushed any further. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Marissa did my deep clean and she was amazing! I have severe anxiety surrounding the dentist and after I brought is up she comforted me and made sure I understood the steps of what she was doing. She frequently checked in with me to see how my anxiety was doing and if anything hurt. 10/10 for Marissa!! By far the best dentist office experience I have had. read more

All of the staff were very professional and helpful. The process to achiving my corrective dental work was clearly explanined. The Business Office Manager was excellent in providing options for us to be able to get the treatment that is needed without a financial hardship. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Even if you manage to get through and speak to someone to try to set an appointment, you won't get one. It's taken numerous calls to get in touch and they don't appear to call you back if you leave a voicemail. I was told they would put me on a waiting list and let me know when their hygienist would be back. After further questions, I found out they only have 1 hygienist who only works a few days a month. The last couple of times I have gone, I've have billing issues. The last time I had a cleaning the hygienist was visibly embarrassed after the dentist only took 30 seconds to check me as he was busy carrying on a conversation with someone 20 feet away. read more

I went to this office multiple times during the spring. Multiple issues with insurance claims being submitted late and even though I paid my entire copay after each visit somehow they still tried sending me a bill initially in excess of $1,200 months later it went down to $40. After my last visit in April I called back within a week because I could feel air through one of my fillings. I called them to complain and to schedule another appointment to fix the issue but they never called back. Apparently they are still having issues with their phone system because I have yet to get through to their office and had to hold for about an hour to reach corporate just to complain. This still didn't resolve my problem so I suppose I will have to go there physically in the morning to lodge my complaint. A few weeks ago I had posted about an infection I got after having a crown done at the Marion, IL location. I went back to my regular dentist to get an antibiotic treatment. After the infection cleared up, X-rays revealed that the root is dying and will need to be extracted, otherwise the infection will come back. STAY AWAY from this place. These are the most incompetent, negligent dentists that live on the face of this earth. I went in for a crown to be replaced and over a 4-month period this crown fell off 17 times!! yes that is right, 17 times!!! These crocks of dentist had me go in 17 times for the same tooth and the crown would not stay on....That is unheard of! Then after my very last appointment they put it on and told me it fit . that was a LIE, I went to a different dentist who took a xray of it and said the crown is only on half the tooth and because the crown was not on the tooth all the way that now the tooth is so badly damaged with food leaking in that I need to extract it and get a $10,000 dental implant!!!! Every single time I would sit in the aspen dental marion il waiting room almost all the patients there were saying there crowns were falling off , just like me, and even there dental implants were falling out! They were highly expensive and ruined a root canal I went through. They glued my temporary on so tight that they about pulled out the whole tooth trying to get it off to attach the permanent one! I went back and told them of the pain and to this day I still can feel the throb when eating. I refuse to ever go back. They acted like I was lying and they know good and well what they done but will not admit their mistake plus tried to take me for more money on some needless gum therapy crap that no other dentist even knew when I asked. Stay away, wish I could give negative stars. Terrible, they are just a dentist office mill! I knew that the first time I went to them. Unprofessional, don't care about their patient and is just a money making mill. To long to put my entire experience on here. The latest one, I had a simple filling fall out, they can't see me for a month(when a filling falls out any good dentist will tell you that needs to be looked at right away). Not only did they say for a month before they could see me but the first appointment would be just an inspection and would have to set a second appointment for the treatment. It's a filling that fell out! And I asked if it is just a simple filling can't they do that in one appointment and they said no. This was mild compared to my overall past experience. Anyway, I changed dentists immediately today by a referral of my regular dr. They will see me tomorrow and if just filling replacement will do it same time after X-ray. Very simple and they were so very nice and caring unlike Aspen. I have been going to Aspen dental for about three months in Marion Illinois and I am so unhappy talk about unprofessional they never answer the phone. They never told me about their dental plan. They told me that my partial was going to come in and two weeks six weeks later, I find out that the company no longer makes that partial they always have an excuse. I went in yesterday to look at my partial, which they told me it was supposed to be the lightest flexible no metal it's awful. It's absolutely horrendous. When I did ask for my money back they said that they had been cyber hacked and so it takes at least 2 to 3 months to get a Refund . It is unbelievably unprofessional when I went in to get a scan for my partial, I had to argue with the girl and tell her that there was a cavity that I saw, and she was telling me that it wasn't a cavity which I was right don't go there. This place is so crummy. I went here for a bad toothache because they were the only place that could see me quickly. Well, I guess that's for a reason. At my first appointment, the dentist determined I needed a filling. Okay. I showed up on time at my next appointment for the filling and waited 45 minutes. They made me pay an "estimate" before I got my filling. The space where they did my filling was very unprofessional. The dentist was talking to and joking with passerby, and looking around as he performed the procedure. There were no curtains or walls for privacy. After he finished the procedure, he said, "This is going to hurt for a couple weeks." No other filling I've ever had has hurt for weeks after. Well, it did, and months later, it's still screwed up. I live in St. Louis but have a home on Lake of Egypt. I have actually stopped seeing my Dentist in St. Louis who, while he is highly rated and known in the area, is extremely expensive and is constantly trying to sell me on additional services. Mostly to support his research. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get in to Aspen and how efficient they were. Always on time, friendly, reasonably priced. The can always fit you in and they also have Saturday hours. The place is clean and modern. I've been there about 6 times now and it's really nice to have a place to go that's simple and good. read more

as a new patient I called and made an appointment telling them on the phone I needed a cleaning and check up and they made an appointment. I got there early and went thru xrays and check up. After an hour and half I asked about my cleaning and they then told me we do not clean teeth on the first visit. They could have mentioned that when I made the cleaning appointment since I told them that was why I was coming. I could have made an informed decision...So my time is not valuable and they can charge the insurance 2 visits instead of 1. No intention of going back. Now I need to start all over again with a legitimate company. read more

Shady! They lure you in with "cheap" prices but then tell you that you have a whole host of medical problems that of course insurance won't pay for. You have to speak with a high pressure "business manager" that's actually just a sales person that makes you pay up front and make a decision right then and there for future treatment. The staff tried to scare me into a deep cleaning that my insurance doesn't pay for. Refused to do an actual cleaning until this $2000+ procedure was performed and everyone at every level tried to pressure me into paying for something unnecessary that I can't afford. When I said that I don't have that kind of money, the business manager whipped out a payment plan and suggested that I either take out a loan with them (more money to be made!) or borrow from somebody. I went to get a checkup as a new patient in May. I have a primary and secondary insurance and was sure that I made it clear which was which when I first went into the office. They took copies of both and I had written down both on the paperwork. I started receiving bills and noticed they charged only my secondary insurance. Long story short I went back and forth with them until November and it was finally solved. Every time I called they would try and say they had no record of my primary insurance card. I was told many times someone would call me back and they did not, I was told that they had called my primary and that I was not a member with them, (my mother had checked and there was no records of them calling). I could go on and on about how much of a horrible experience I had with their billing department. I highly recommend NOT going here especially if you have multiple insurances because they obviously have no clue what they are doing. And yes my insurances were both in network and it took them until October to set up their billing system with my primary insurance even though I had been in network since the beginning. read more

I have had a bad experience with Aspen Dental in Marion, IL since 2015. Why did I stick around that long if it was so bad? Well, you must pay your entire portion up front so it is difficult to switch to another dentist and pay all over again. The dentures looked awful and felt even worse. They were ill-fitting, painful, and would not stay in position. I returned to Aspen many times for repairs and adjustments. The dentures broke frequently and often in the same location that the lab tech broke them herself. I was always made to feel that it was my fault. On my first trip back for repairs, one of the office staff said, "We can read patients the first time they come and can tell if they are going to be a complainer. We sure didn't think you were going to be one of THOSE patients." I even went to a periodontist to have implants put on the bottom to help hold the dentures in. That is an expensive process but that dentist did a great job and I had high hopes. However, Aspen was still in charge of placing the connectors or snaps and he could not do that well either. I had at least five sets of snaps inserted and every time they lasted 24 hours or less. The dentist told me that since I attempted a repair myself when I was in the hospital for several weeks, my warranty was voided. I finally went to a dentist in Cape Girardeau and started all over. The difference is incredible. The dentures are natural looking and comfortable and the cost was much, much less than Aspen. I heard my current dentist talking to his staff in the hallway and showing them the Aspen dentures and saying it was the worst set he had ever seen. Please be careful about going to Aspen. They are not even accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Do not count on the warranty. Do not believe the "walk ins welcome" policy. I could not reach them by phone and walked in one day for repairs. The receptionist said I needed an appointment. My husband was with me and voiced his opinion so she relented and told me to have a seat. I waited 3 hours to see anyone and then was told to return in 5 hours. read more

We travel for my husband's work and when we cannot make it to our dentist at home, we always see one on the road. This time we chose Aspen Dental. When I called to make the appt., the receptionist said that my husband would need to come for an initial visit with xrays before a cleaning, which was fine. He went for it and they billed the $40 charge to insurance and made the cleaning appt. He went for the cleaning appt. and they did some sort of "treatment" that they said insurance wouldn't pay and charged my husband $17 each... For FOUR quads? And then, said he would need to come back for another appt. to have his teeth polished because that is not standard in their cleaning and that he would need to pay another $157 at that appt. We have EXCELLENT insurance... We normally pay around $6 for a cleaning after insurance. We even paid a whopping $20 after a bone graf at a specialist... These "non-covered" charges are a complete scam! Watch out for this place and the other fake reviews... Look up Aspen Dental reviews on Google before making an appt. What a rip off! My husband won't be going for the $157 non covered polishing. read more

This place is terrible! I took my two boys and myself in for appointments and they did an exam and x-rays. They then scheduled all of us on separate days three months out for cleanings. It is extremely difficult to schedule that far ahead and have to take off work three days for three separate appointments for us. We have federal dental insurance and I gave them all of the information at the time of the first appointments. Our exam and x-rays were covered 100%. The bills are still coming in from them . I have called them twice to straighten out the billing information and to get them to send it to the correct place to get paid. It has been six months and I am still getting the bills of $121 per person . What a bunch of crooks! read more

I am a veteran and today Aspen was doing a free Vets day. I had never been to them before, and was not sure what to expect. I could not have been treated better. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dentist was excellent. As I have few teeth left, I have been to many dentists throughout my life. I am 63 years old. Was easy to get an appointment. However I think this place is a rip off. No privacy. I could hear and see everything going on in the cubicle next to me. Hygienist came in and measured my gums (very painful) and informed me I did not brush my teeth enough and I should start flossing. She suggested a cleaning and antibiotic treatment for each tooth. She said I had a bacterial infection in my gums. Which is crap and not true. Last dental appointment I had, got clean record to go ahead with knee surgery 11/2016. Also they took so many x-rays I probably glow in the dark. Staff very stoic. No chit chat. Cut me off when I tried to explain why I was there. I could hear the hygienist talking to the gentleman in the next room and she told him he had the same exact thing as me. It was like she had a script. Person that did my x-rays was complaining to her coworker in the other cubicle about having 5 more patients and discussed no shows. Dentist came in. Not friendly. Suggested services I didn't need. Then the asked to wait for the financial person. I left and hope I never have to go back. I will tell anyone that will listen this place is a scam!!!! It cost me $19.00 for basically nothing! If it was an option, I would give them no stars. I had a wisdom tooth that needed to be pulled immediately (I couldn't sleep or eat). When I called to make the appointment I specifically said I needed a tooth pulled and the woman on the phone said that would be no problem at all. They got me in the next day. I came in, had to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes, and then they finally called my name. I went back and sat in the chair, and the dentist (Dr. Malik) took a look inside my mouth for 30 seconds and said they don't do extractions there and that I should put a warm wash cloth on my face and it should be fine. He referred me to another dentist (who by the way was booked until 3 months later) and told me my tooth was infected and that I should go see another dentist to figure out what antibiotics I needed. I don't know how he was able to even come to that conclusion considering I was in his chair less than a full minute before he sent me home. So I waited 30 minutes for him to tell me information I could have googled and did not help me one bit. I saw another dentist the next day and they not only pulled the tooth and helped me immediately, but they also informed me I had NO INFECTION and I would have been taking antibiotics for no reason. Not only that, his staff was short with me and very unfriendly. Unless you want to waste your time and continue to be in pain/ get wrong information from your dentist and possibly take unnessary medication, I would avoid Aspen Dental, (specifically Dr. Malik) at all costs. read more
