Very shady place, they scam and lie to you about a lot of "procedures" you need to get done. It's either they will lie about issues or they will over- exaggerate an issue you are having and try to do treatments on you that you really don't need. Go get a second opinion with another dentist office before buying into what Aspen Dental says. The dental office itself does not feel very safe or comfortable. You can hear everything going on with other patients around you. Anyone can just peek in and see what's going on. This is a HIPPA law violation as patients are entitled to privacy rights. No patient should ever have to feel humiliated and embarrassed because people can overhear what's "going on with their mouths" (Because majority of the time they lie). Just not a comfortable place to be in. Dentist who did root canal on me was very nice so 2 stars for her because she was so sweet and so gentle and so understanding but other than that, please do not blindly trust what they tell you. My experience at Aspen dental was not good at all. I went there for a fractured tooth that was causing me severe pain that woke me up at night and made it difficult to eat. I worked with my insurance company to get me in as soon as possible and Aspen obliged. When I arrived at my appointment they went right to work taking soooo many X-rays and a panorax X-ray. I told them numerous times that I was there because I had a broken tooth that was causing severe pain. They assured me that they would address that when I saw the dentist. Eventually I met with the dentist. She was very nice. She examined my mouth for about 2 minutes. Then she told me that she had reviewed my X-rays and there were a lot of teeth that needed fixing. She explained that I needed teeth removed and partial dentures and dental implants. I was devastated. I asked her again about the tooth that was causing me pain. She said that I would have to talk to the treatment plan coordinator to set that up. When I met with the treatment plan coordinator she gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done and how much it would cost. The total cost would be $38,512 ($11285.65 with insurance). I asked her about the tooth that I need to have fixed and she said that I need to contact my insurance company because they couldn't do anything about it . She said I needed to contact an Endodontist for that. So after all that, I left still in pain. I have contacted the BBB and plan on speaking with my union representative. The team at Aspen Dental Meriden are amazing. I had to go in for a procedure that really stressed me out and they helped make me feel at ease. From Check-in, to X-rays to seeing the endodontist, each member helped keep my nerves at bay and I felt relaxed. I made an appointment for 10:30. I checked in and they said they would call me in shortly. Fast forward 45 minutes later and they still haven't called me. I ask why it's taking so long, they just give me a blank stare and say to give them a few more minutes. 10 more minutes pass and they are now just asking if i have insurance. I went to have a new denture made. I ended up getting the top of the line. Keep in mind I had my pervious set made 40 years ago. The dentist told me that they no longer make dentures from porcelain. So long story short finally got a good fit after 5 visits. Two years later the teeth are falling out. As far as the warranty it's still in effect. But before they will fix them I have to have an exam done with X-ray. That I have to pay for. I found out that porcelain dentures are still being made, they choose not to make them. Stay far away. They removed too much of the denture during an adjustment and have problems ever since 3xs in one month I've had to go back and every time they're fine for that day of the adjustment only. I went in for the "Free Consultation" the office was nice, but when you finally get to see the dentist he's got a fancy printed out folder full of sales literature, and a high priced treatment plan. Fortunately they didn't accept my insurance. I was then ushered to "The Closer" who tried pressuring me into applying for credit to have the work done. Best experience I've ever had in a dental office. The environment is so clean and welcoming. The staff makes every effort to be clear and upfront about the out of pocket cost. The doctors are extremely thorough and vigilant, especially Dr. Chin. They take the time to explain the medical necessity of the treatment they reccomend. They are also extremely gentle. A little over 2 years ago I had a crown done. With my Cigna dental insurance, I paid $547. Then, in December 2018 I had to have a crown done on another tooth, and I was told I would again be billed $547. To my surprise, after the work was done, I received a bill for $994. I paid the bill, but I complained that my cost was much more than they had told me it would be. In contacting my insurance, they told me that the claim was denied because they do not allow a second crown to be done on the same tooth within a five-year period. I told them it was on a different tooth. Aspen then admitted to me that they had misidentified the second crown as being for the same tooth as 2 years before. They said they would correct the mistake with my insurance company. I felt that I was due a refund of my overpayment because of Aspen's mistake in billing my insurance. Aspen said they were working on getting the insurance to pay the claim and then they would refund my overpayment, but as weeks and months went by, I did not see anything being done. In fact, they were so messed up, in February I actually received another bill from Aspen, charging me an additional $547.00 for that same crown in December 2018 (I had already paid $994 for that crown that should have cost me the $547). It was not until May 2019 that I received word from Aspen that they would be sending me a check in about 2 weeks, for a refund of $358.90. I think it is no coincidence that on that same day I had called my Cigna dental insurance again, and they told me that they had already paid Aspen for that claim; they put me on hold while they called Aspen to ask why I had not been given a refund. It took five months arguing with Aspen about giving me my money back that I overpaid because of their mistake, and who knows how long - or if ever - I would have received the refund if I had not kept in touch with my insurance and had them call Aspen. I am changing to a different dental office in my dental insurance network. read more

Avoid this place like the plague unless of course you want to be swindled out of your money. I called to request info on denture repair because their advertising said they do this starting at $49. After explaining why I was calling, I was asked if I had insurance. I replied "yes, I do but my insurance does not cover the cost of repairs, so I will be paying the cost." I furthered stated, I was checking around for costs, how soon I could get the work done and the dentures returned. I was told they had a lab onsite to do the repairs but they would need to see the amount of damage to get me a accurate price but repairs do start at $49. I was asked if the repair was for a partial or full denture and was it top or bottom? I replied top and it was a partial for front teeth. We made the appointment for the next morning at 9:15am. I show up for my appointment on time and was asked if I had an appointment (they do take walk-ins) I replied yes and gave the receptionist my name. Smiling, she asked for my insurance card, I again explain, my insurance will not pay for denture repairs so I will be paying for them. Ignoring what I just told her but still smiling she states, 'I need your insurance card. We can bill your insurance for the visit. Don't you want to have your insurance pay instead?' I reply no they will NOT pay for a repair. I will pay for this! She says 'Okay, I don't need your insurance card." In less than 15 seconds, she says 'Umm, sorry, but I will need your insurance card.' I counter with "why, because you are not billing my insurance company so why exactly do you need my insurance card?" Her response 'Well the doctor needs to do an exam and take some x-rays. I said "Excuse, me! Why on earth would you need to examine my teeth and take x-rays of my teeth for a denture repair? I am not giving you my insurance card. This is why I called and inquired about having a repair done. I was told yes, it can be done; no I did not need to bill my insurance and you could tell me the exact cost once they looked at the damage to the denture. Now you are telling me I have to have an exam & x-rays!! Guess what? Not today, I am out of here! I left quick, fast and in a hurry!!! They are looking to make money 100%! read more

This is place was the worst customer experience I have had in a long time. I went in to see if they take my insurance and the front desk rep stated yes and had me fill out some forms. I asked if they can take me right away since I was there she stated yes. I was excited but then she was like no sorry we can't take you because the doctor has a procedure. So she had me fill out all the forms and than told me no when I gave in the forms. So I scheduled an appt for the following week at 6pm. I got there at 5:45 she stated it will be a 15 min wait. 15 minutes turned into 40 since they called me in at 6:25pm. No one even acknowledged me about the wait. Long story short the doctor checked for cavities and they didn't even clean my teeth. They needed to schedule the cleaning at a different date sometime in December which is 4 months away.
