Have gone for many years and thought everything was fine. Until I was told I might need to have a bridge cut off and replaced which would be thousands of dollars. I changed dentists and discovered many oversights from AD. First, the bridge can be saved with proper treatment. Wait and see. Second, bite wing xrays were perhaps never done in the back at AD because two problem areas showed up. Cracked tooth on top in the back and cavity under crown on bottom. I had teeth cleaned and was told at AD "We don't do stains, just tartar." So the new dentist assistant cleaned the stains! Billing is crazy as they are still billing me for 4 years ago when customer service says they can't. Had a terrible experience with one girl in the front a couple of years ago. Just wanted to explain about billing incorrectly and she wouldn't stop talking, like reading from a best practices book. I asked her to shut up and she said I was offensive. I wrote to corporate. Don't recommend this place at all. read more

Everyone I dealt with in this location was wonderful. I was in for 3 or 4 appointments and they did a great job. My problem is with how Aspen as a company dealt with insurance billing. I paid my copay for my last visit and months later I get a bill for the remaining amount. I called to see if the insurance had not paid and they said it looks like they paid but they havnt processed it. They told me I still need to pay or they will send to collections and impact my credit score. I was told I can check back in 60-90 days to see if Aspen has credited my account with the insurance payment and at that point I can request a refund and wait at least a week to get a refund. It took me an hour and 6 calls between Aspen and my insurance company to confirm that the insurance paid and that Aspen received the payment but has not applied to that bill. Seems like this company needs to work at outing their patients first and not threaten with collections when their patients do everything right. read more

Going to this place was a horrible mistake. They were very unprofessional. Made mistakes, dropped my partial on the floor and it got kicked across the room before they noticed it missing. The dentist didn't know how to do a filling. I had to have it redone. She screwed up that tooth so bad I have to have a crown put in it now. More money!Nothing was made over night as they claimed they can do. I spent a lot of money there and had to go to another dentist to have all of their work redone. Terrible job and made my teeth look horrible and fake. I should probably call a lawyer and sue this place for all my wasted money and time. $12,000 down the drain spent there. Plus more spent at another dentist office to fix their mistakes. I do NOT reccomended this place at all. Stay away if you like your mouth and your money read more

if i could put 0 stars i would. this place is terrible. the receptionist was amazing so sweet and helped a lot with my appointments and anxiety around going to the dentist and with payment. my dental assistant was so sweet she was my age so we clicked amazing. the doctor on the other hand BUTCHED my teeth i now have to go spend an absurd amount of money to get my teeth fixed when i thought that's what i was doing. dr rah was okay i had a filling by her didn't hurt at all but 2 weeks later i can't chew i can't drink it kills. and dr t was horrid. she tried to convince me the pain was becuase of my anxiety when i was in excruciating pain. now my front tooth looks like someone chopped it up when it was supposed to be just a small filling on the back of the tooth. the whole bottom is chipped and hurts so bad. Tried to get some insurance info she said she couldn't hear me 3 times because to many people talking in her backround. She finally said she would check on Insurance and hung up. I called back later in day. Same experience with same person, she never checked on my insurance. If I cant get by customer service I certainly am not going to sit in a dentist chair here. They are all superstars-top notch professionals but one stands out... their lead dental assistant Genesis! I truly can't say enough about her work ethic, knowledge and execution. My husband has serious dental issues. Needed a partial because his bridge broke. He hates the dentist. He had 3 teeth pulled along with his broken bridge. They made him a new partial overnight since there's a lab on site there was no long wait. The best part of the three days we spent there was Jill. She feels like an old friend. She walks you through the whole process and makes you feel comfortable. My husband would not have gotten through this without her. I also thought the pricing was fair. My husband and I had fantastic experiences at Aspen Dental in Peabody. Easy to make an appt. We both needed some work done. In the past, the dentist would tell me what they were going to do and I'd be embarrassed to talk money. It was like, "well, this is necessary for the health of your mouth". AT Aspen Dental, they gave me a full exam then broke down what needed to be done. I sat with the office manager who detailed the costs. We came up with a plan that wouldn't empty my checking account. From the dentist, dental hygienist, assistant and office manger, they were all so considerate. I may be alone here, but I hate going to the dentist and I hate the big bills. I didn't feel that way at all here. Jill, the dental assistant who took my xrays was just FANTASTIC. Looking forward to having much needed work done. read more

This place is all about the sales. I came to Aspen, because it was one of the only local places that would accept my dental insurance. I booked a cleaning to start. I got to my appointment and they would not clean my teeth. They told me that I must first go through a consultation and then schedule a cleaning. That was frustrating because I had planned for a cleaning and was forced to book yet another appointment. They should have been more upfront. During the consultation they do x-rays and come up with a list of services that you will eventually need. You are then directed to an office, where the "manager" goes over a payment plan for thousands of dollars of surgeries. They are very pushy on payment plans and scheduling work that may not be necessary right away. The next year I made an appointment for a cleaning, and was given yet ANOTHER consultation. If I had a consultation the year before, why would I need another one. They had my records. At this time, I pulled my records and found another dental office that kept their hands out of my pocketbook! I like to be treated like a patient, not a number. Ridiculous! read more

For starters, I had an appointment for a cleaning which had to be rescheduled because the hygienist wasn't there... Then again I received a call and had to move my appointment again because the hygienist wasn't there. How can they not be there twice in 1 week? So annoying. Also, a lot of the staff who works there are not enjoyable to be around. I had a molar extracted and the dental assistant was being so rude and practically yelling at me because I was moaning in discomfort and had trouble opening my mouth. I would not recommend going to Aspen. Both my husband and I went and I was appalled at the man who was supposed to be the "payment guy". I have great insurance and as I was sitting in his office waiting for him to go over my payment plan he was on a phone call telling someone on the other end how he will "jack up" the price of the visit because it's only the insurance companies money, not the guys! Are you kidding? I told him the whole place was a fraud and walked out! I was disgusted. Not to mention they try to sell everyone that walks in the door an antibiotic gum treatment plan--I've NEVER been told in my entire life (or my husband) that we needed this gum treatment. We have very healthy teeth and gums and this was just them trying to get more money from you. I agree with the other 2 posters the place is a rip off and someone should shut them down now! read more

1 is too high a rating - but I can't give a 0. I just received a call back regarding a cleaning and 4 fillings that I would like to get done (2 new and 2 replacement fillings that are "breaking down"). They informed me that they require a cleaning before they will do the fillings... fair enough... However, they said that a scaling procedure is required and with dental insurance will cost more than $1K. When told that is out of my price range, they informed me that if I do not allow them to do this cleaning they will not perform my fillings. I knew that dentistry, like any other business, uses price gouging tactics to increase revenue, but out right extortion is where I draw the line. Their recommendations may not be unreasonable or unfounded. But attempting to sell costly optional preventative procedures if patients want to address their urgent and serious concerns is downright unethical. I would strongly advise in avoiding this office or become the next victim in their efforts to supply you with a "do this or else" series of costly procedures. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. We are people, not the money you put into your bank account. read more

not possible to get a cleaning without $$$ gingivitis treatment I tried to schedule a basic cleaning and that did not happen :| Here's what happened: * Provided my new patient paper work and appt started on time :) * Full round of x-rays (valid for 5 years) :) * Tech poking inside my mouth for gum depths to determine gingivitis likelihood :| * No cleaning :( * Meet with office manager/scheduler and receive full treatment plan for $500 :( * Challenge Dr. T about treatment plan and am told they can't do cleaning without treatment :( :( * No schedule for any follow up appts :( :( :( friendly but not accommodating staff--maybe that's their business model but would prefer to see health professionals who understand and are sympathetic to the patient's needs and not as dismissive as they were here. read more

I would never recommend that someone go into this office. The embarrassing thing is that I've had two bad experiences there -- in other words after my first one, I actually let my husband give it a chance. What a mistake! My first experience was myself. I didn't have any dental insurance and desperately needed a cleaning. I was short on cash, so I went to Aspen. I thought I needed a filling as well, but otherwise was pretty sure my teeth were healthy. After my appointment, they took me into a second room where they told me that I was suffering from the beginning of gingivitis. I was like, what??? They quoted me over a grand to fix it. I was so scared in that moment, wondering where I was going to get the money. Then I started asking questions -- they were trying to include some fancy electric toothbrush with five heads that I just "had to have" with my "condition." I told them I didn't have much money, so what would the price be like without the toothbrush? They lowered the estimate by $400! In other words, they were trying to sell me a $400 toothbrush!!! That was when I became suspicious that this was all an upsell and left without committing to anything. A few months later I went to visit family, and my sister-in-law is a dentist so she offered to look at my teeth. She said there was absolutely nothing wrong with them! Aspen Dental was just trying to make money off of my ignorance. You would think that would be enough, but now that we have dental insurance my husband made the mistake of make an appointment with them (he was having trouble finding a time to go to our new (trusted) dentist). He went in and they told him he needed a crown. They looked into our insurance and quoted us $600 for the crown. Even though it was a stretch for us at the time, we decided to do it because we didn't want his tooth falling apart on him. After paying the $600, we recieved another bill for $500. We figured it was a mistake, but when he called, they said that what they had given us was an estimate and the insurance actually didn't cover what they thought it would. Explain to me how a business can be wrong on an estimate by almost twice the price!!! Now we don't know what to do with this bill we can't afford and Aspen claims they've done nothing wrong. They use trick wording to get you to sign up for a credit card, by telling you its just a payment plan with them. The woman at the office rushed me through the policy and didn't give me any time to think about it. And when I had my tooth pulled, they gave me nothing for the pain afterwards. Well they did, but I told them I was allergic to it. She said to take it anyway. And when I ended up with dry socket she hesitated to do anything about it and seemed impatient when I asked for help. I never did see the tooth that was pulled, and here I am 5 months later and I'm still struggling with some pain and on and off swelling in the area. My other dentist thinks part of the tooth may still be lodged inside. Nice job aspen! NOT! read more

I had a terrible experience with Aspen dental in Peabody. I got there for an exam and x-rays and was rushed around from one person to the next. First I got a ton of x-rays then the hygienist came in to check my gums. He randomly shouted out numbers and said I'd need to come in every 4 months and use a special rinse. I've been diligent about going to dentists every 6 months my whole life and was never told anything like this. The dentist saw me after an extremely long wait and said I had 8 cavities that for some reason weren't there at my former private practice dentist 6 months ago. She said 3 were immediate and it was into the bone. I was ushered to the office manager who told me it would be over $1000 of work and to sign up for their "payment plan" (credit card). I ended up saying no thank you and went to a private practice dentist today for a second opinion (and a cleaning that wasn't included in my over 1 hour experience at Aspen!). I have no cavities at all - just one that could potentially become one but it isn't even through the enamel. I was told by my new dentist that with proper flossing and brushing, I could go my whole life without a problem. To think that if I had trusted Aspen, I would have had $1000 of unnecessary work. Trust me on this - they are out to make money not to do what's best for the patient. If you are thinking about going to them, find a private practice dentist who takes your insurance instead. I would never want anyone to experience what I went through a few weeks ago! read more

I'm going to make this brief, if scathing. The bad times just do not end with Aspen Dental. I, like many others, was wrongly told I had $1000 in cavities along with periodontal disease, requiring a "deep tissue cleaning" that would cost around $700. Oh yeah, and I didn't even get the free cleaning. Two weeks later, a professional, private practice dentist assured me that none of this was the case and my mouth is actually quite healthy, which makes sense since I'm a daily flosser and brush three times daily. But, the fun doesn't stop there. I was asked at Aspen to go through some system to see if I'd be preapproved for a financing account through them with interest rates as high as 29%, I said sure, whatever. Then, in the mail, I receive a letter stating that congrats, I now have this account open. I call and they tell me "OOPS, must have been a processing error," immediately offering to shut it down. BOLOGNA. Oh, but it continues. I then receive a $255 bill in the mail. "OOPS, another processing error." Oh SHUCKS. They immediately cancelled that bill out as well. I'm reporting these fools to the Better Business Bureau. I'm appalled, shocked, disgusted, the list goes on. read more

I finally got up the nerve to make an appointment and went to the Peabody, MA office and am so happy that I was able to do it! I have major issues with my teeth and at 51 it is horribly embarrassing and I have always feared the dentist. If you have similar issues I urge you to make an appointment and just go. Jill the tech was SO incredibly nice, caring and attentive to me that I almost couldn't believe it! The entire staff made me feel like a normal human with no judgement. I suffer from long term debilitating anxiety and I have to say that Jill, Michelle, Dr. Thompson were all so nice and explained everything very completely! Also Rachel and the entire crew at the front desk were all great and I highly recommend everyone in this office! I go in for my work on Tuesday August 23rd. I am nervous but knowing how nice and accepting and non judgmental everyone is here absolutely helps! I am urging you to take that 1st step and give them a call, they will help! It took me 4 years to make my appointment and I shouldn't have waited so long! But now I look forward to a future where I will smile again with confidence and eat without pain! I want to warn people NOT to go to Aspen Dental. The owner, Melissa is the worst. I was bounced back and forth between different dentists there. Every time I went which was every 6 months, there was always a filling or two. I kept being pressured into having 6 crowns on my top front teeth. When I told her it was too expensive, she said, "Well maybe if you hit the lottery you can have them". My front teeth are just fine, maybe a little discolored after so many years. I have always been to the dentist every 6 months for cleanings and checkups. I swear Aspen Dental is not truthful in their diagnosis of dental problems. I'd been to this location previously to have a cap replaced. They wouldn't do the work unless I had my teeth scaled. So I had it done. A YEAR LATER, I needed a filling replaced and they wanted to do the scaling again. I told them I wanted my filling fixed and they wouldn't do it without the scaling first. My insurance wouldn't cover the scaling again so they wanted me to pay cash... WE ARE NOT ATM MACHINES WE ARE HUMANS.... GET IT? FIX TEETH. I unfortunately had a change of insurance and was trying to establish myself with a new dentist as it was coming up on my 6 month cleaning. I had a bad feeling when Aspen Dental left me 3 confirmations of the booked appointment in the same day and then 2 the following day and then 1 the day after? Got it....have an appointment. THEN when I got there they took 18 sets of dental x-rays and I had expressed that I could get these from my previous dentist. Having these x-rays done was not a comfortable experience and they said it was because my mouth was small and she spoke loudly so the entire office could hear which was embarrassing. The Hygienist seemed either over worked or couldn't be bothered. It seemed that they were trying to get me to have work done that I'm really sure didn't need to be done as I had JUST spoken with their dentist? In all good faith, I couldn't bring myself to go back there for the next scheduled appointment of a "Deep Cleaning" that I of course would need to pay for out of pocket and feel comfortable with what they were claiming needed to be done. I went in for a basic cleaning. Ive never had any issues with my teeth & have cleanings every 6 months with my last dentist. They told me I needed a scaling and two crowns. Like a sucker, I trusted them. Dr Tompson has assured that I will never be able to eat without pain. NOTHING bothered me before my first appointment, now its constant pain. 50 years of seeing a dentist and I've never been afraid. Now I am so afraid that I may never see another dentist again. I was born without my front eye teeth. I'm from Seattle and didn't know where else to go the dentist. Unfortunately one of my teeth on my retainer broke. I called and made an appointment and they got me in the next day. They took a bunch of x rays with this super uncomfortable contraption. At one point I didn't know if I could physically finish the x-rays because they were so uncomfortable. I got through that and then I went to another chair to have impressions taken of my mouth. They assured me that their lab was great and I could come back the next day to pick up my retainer. I came in the next day to pick up my retainer and I was devastated. First the retainer was extremely tight and they could barely get it into my mouth. Once they man handled it in there I realized how terrible it looked. They had placed pink coloring at the top of the teeth which looked awful. The dentist agreed it looked terrible and removed the retainer from my mouth and began sanding down the teeth with a tool. She then put it back in my mouth. At this point she had sanded down the teeth so terribly that the teeth were now two different sizes and there was a large space between the teeth and my gums. The teeth didn't match my other teeth. They agreed it looked awful and scheduled me to come in and have yet another one made. It was a Friday so I was sent home with the awful one they made. It was so uncomfortable I couldn't eat all weekend. And I just felt so ugly. I had absolutely no faith in their lab to make me another one considering how terrible the first one came out. I found another dental lab in Wakefield who got me same day and felt awful for me. He pointed out everything they did wrong. The dental lab in Wakefield had my new retainer done Monday and it looks and fits perfect. My teeth look natural and I can actually smile and eat. I would highly suggest finding a different dentist if you need dental lab work done. Aspen dental did give me a refund. read more

I went to Aspen Dental March 26th 2017 to get a quote on Dentures. They poked and prodded and then gave me several quotes. 2 days later I came down with a gum infection. I was hoping it would go away but now 8 days later the pain is worse. I called Aspen Dental asking for some antibiotics and got the run around. I was told my tooth was infected because it has to be pulled. I replied stating that it wasn't infected before I went in. I then informed the minimum wage worker that answered the phone that I need antibiotics to get rid of the infection until I can get the tooth pulled. I was told I had to come in but they had no openings. I believe they gave me the infection. I also believe they care more about money than they do their patients. Any other dentist office would of squeezed me. It would only take them 5 minutes to look at my tooth and write a prescription. I should of read the reviews on consumer affairs before going to Aspen Dental in the first place. read more

When I saw all the one star reviews, I knew I wasn't going back here. I went for a simple procedure but they happened to be open on a day I didn't work and fit me in. Was told exactly the same thing as everyone else about Gingivitis. The 'owner' Ms. Thompson had no personality whatsoever, and so didn't the staff. The dentist Ms. Thompson looked two seconds then said I needed a root canal on top of a root canal...HUH? She then hands me a note with a 'specialist' who does root canals around the corner. Be very careful with Aspen Dental. I originally had to attend this dentist because the insurance that I had only covered them in my area. They told me I had three cavities which I had never had before and convinced me to have them filled. I still to this day do not believe them. They also told me that I didn't floss enough and was going to be in need of gum surgery. Finally my insurance changed, and thus I changed dentists. My current dentist told me that I was not even close to needing gum surgery. That I was fine and to keep practicing my good dental hygiene. Aspen Dental is in it for the money, not for the patient. I feel almost as shocked now seeing so many reviews that match my exact experience as I felt when I was told I have periodontal disease and four cavities that need filling. I'm a daily flosser and I don't drink soda and have minimal sugar intake. The dentist, who was wearing a glittery t-shirt under her smock, informed me that it is the creamer in the one coffee I have per day. I then was ushered to a room to sit down with someone who offered me payment plans for my proposed $3000 bill with interest rates at 26 percent. She and the dentist convinced me that my teeth were basically about to fall out and said multiple times over that I NEEDED all of this dental work and ASAP. I'm incredibly relieved that I did not listen to them and borderline outraged that any sort of health care facility would do what is in fact NOT in their patients' best interests. read more

First they take x rays but the tech had no idea what she was doing I was biting down and cringing in pain of the lack of knowledge how to position it in my mouth. Then meet the dentist for a cleaning who thinks I have gum disease. But coming from a dentist with never a cavity or any gum disease was odd at first. Then They recommended all these washes and rinses and gels and basically saying that I have all these issues with my mouth and they have you sit with the insurance person who comes up with all these charges that my dental plan doesn't cover. Keep in mind I have the top plan which allows me to pay zero out of pocket for any dental needs. It's s giant company and all you are is a dollar sign to them. Same went for my wife coming from a place that never had a cavity or tooth issue and they came up with thousands of dollars of dental work. Place is a joke. Then I was told I must speak to the office manager, I felt like I was now in trouble and going to the principal's office. I told her and the young entry level dentist that I've never had issues with my teeth, this was a joke and said I was leaving. They tried to make me stay, why I dont know. This place is the worst! It is all about $$$. Several years ago i went to see about dentures. Was told i need a partial denture on top. Made a temp one which was ok. The permanent one never fit properly. Everytime i tried to talk i would end up spitting at people. No matter how many times i went back it never fit so i gave up. Went back a few weeks ago because i had a toothache. Was told i needed three pulled and a partial plate for the bottom at the cost of $2000.! I said no. Recevied pain med and antibiotic and scheduled to come back the following week to have the two that bothered me pulled. A week later i was still in pain so i went back and was told i had something stuck in the spot where the tooth was. I was given a syringe to flush out the hole and sent on my way. I flush it thre/four times a day and im still in pain. Also the wonderful denture they gave me that i paid a lot of money for still sits in its case. I am now to the point that im limited to what i can eat because of this place! I wish I knew what I was in for previous to going here. I broke a tooth and was between a rock and a hard place because I was dependant of others due to a medical issue preventing me from driving, so due to their close proximity, I chose to go here....my reason for the visit was to get a broken tooth dealt with, but they insisted that I needed a cleaning/scaling as well. And of course, like I have read from others, I had some form of gum disease and was given an oral antibiotic rinse. Got fitted with a temporary crown and was scheduled for a tooth polishing. The thing that really has me steamed is how they handle billing.....the price I was quoted for everything was $800+. Unable to pay out of pocket, I applied for the financing.....not a huge deal.....but, I have 2 dental insurance plans. One is my primary and the other is secondary through my wife.....before I was even finished receiving services, I was already being billed by the financing company. Why would you even begin to bill a patient before submitting claims to the insurance companies?! After numerous calls to the office, I was continuously told claims were pending. Only after I spoke to my primary insurance company and my wife spoke to hers did we get any kind of answers.....Aspen didn't even submit a claim with the secondary insurance for my crown until about 2 months later. When asked why I was being billed by the financing company before all submitted claims were paid or denied, we were told, "I don't know". They didn't even offer an explanation or attempt to resolve it. I am all done.....now, I am looking for a new, reputable dentist that's not gonna play games and con me out of money or be willing to get to the bottom of payment issues. So, if anyone from the office sees this, feel free to cancel my appointment in December, because I don't plan on being there. read more
