Went and scheduled an appointment for tooth pain, they used my insurance to do a x ray scan and said I have to reschedule to get my tooth extracted. Also said the xray scan was "free" after billing my insurance. Anyways, I wanted to go to another dentist and asked them 5 days in advance to send my xray scans. They didn't sent it till 30 minutes prior to my procedure. Me and my wife called and the office is terrible with answering the phone. I spent 3-4 hours trying to get them on the phone. I should have listened to the reviews. I was a patient for one year. The first visit went well. Every visit after was a problem. Either it wasn't on the books, or it was, but they'd call me the day of, trying to change the time. There were insurance mess-ups. I mean mistakes that just defy logic. They submitted a periodontal claim to my pediatric insurance. No, my child doesn't have a dental condition that almost exclusively affects middle-aged people. They just messed up, and I wound up paying for it. I have probably paid hundreds of dollars out of pocket for treatment that my insurance would have covered if it had been submitted correctly. I stuck with it because it's a dentist. I see them what, twice a year? And the treatment they provide is accurate. As far as I know. Then, today, I went in for an appointment that's been on the books since December. They, of course, called me at 9 am and tried to make it earlier, because they ALWAYS call me day of and try to change the time. I said no because, like many people, my days are not spent lazing around in a meadow awaiting random dental appointments. I have a schedule and life and job and all those other things. They understood; my appointment remained at 3. I arrived at 2:45. At 3:50, I walked out without being seen. On my drive home, they had the nerve to call and let me know that the doctor was ready to see me. I let them know I'm no longer a patient. I'd say getting treated here is like pulling teeth, but if you need teeth pulled, you should probably go elsewhere. read more

Looks like someone removed my review for this specific location. Be warn, STAY AWAY. I was a patient of theirs for 5 years. They are not honest with their service and billing. You'll never have the same dentist and employees on your visit so your experience will be inconsistent. I finally dropped them last year because while I was about to get my teeth clean (already in the chair), the receptionist came in the room and started explaining my bill. Usually, they would do this before I get in the chair. I notice from the billing list, they were over charging me again. I guess if the dentist proceeded with the cleaning, I would be charged. I started the process for my implant at the Aspen Dental clinic in Sanford, FL, in August 2021. Now it's January 2023 and over $5,000 later, I never got my implant. After 6 months with an ill-fitted flipper, I was excited to get my permanent implant. When Dr. Sandra Badrous screwed on the permanent implant, I was in excruciating pain. I've had implants done before at a different dental clinic in TX and it was never painful when my implant was screwed on. Unfortunately, the implant had to be destroyed with a drill to remove the entire implant because it was over tightened and could not be correctly aligned. They blamed it on an infection in my gums. If that was the case, then why did they insert the implant in the first place? So I had to wait another 6 months for a new implant. When it was time to return for my replacement implant, I was told I had to do another impression and pay for it. This was after I was told that my original implant was paid in full a year ago. When the whole process started. They claimed my insurance did not cover it. So I had to pay again for a new impression to be done. When Dr. Badrous looked at my current x-ray, she told me that she did not feel comfortable inserting an implant because I did not have enough bone density. Since I travel for my work, I did not want to wait I see an oral surgeon for a consult. Dr. Badrous told me that if I chose not to continue with their service, they would refund me the full amount that I paid. I decided to find a different dentist and start all over again. As of today, I'm stuck with an ill-fitted flipper and only received a $943 refund. I contacted them to ask for the rest of my refund, but have not heard back from them. I hope that the owner, Paul Pimentel Santiago, DDS, of this incompetent dental clinic sees this review and issues me a full refund of every penny I paid. read more

I made an appointment 3 times to get my mothers teeth cleaned and every time they did an exam, they charged me $125 and said she needed more work done, she never did get her teeth cleaned after spending just short of $10,000 to get everything fixed. I got upper and lower dentures in October 2020. I moved out of state to NJ in November 2020. Since moving back to NJ, I've had 3 teeth fall off of these dentures. One from the lower denture in December 2020, one from the upper in July 2021 and then another one yesterday, January 2022. The lady at the front was nice but you can tell she hasn't been doing this very long. From the beginning there seemed to be a confusion and lack of communication between the staff and also a lack of communication with me. I waited over an hour just to be put in a second waiting room, 20 minutes in the second waiting room, followed by almost another hour in the exam room before The hygienist and assistant came in. We moved to Mt. Dora recently and looked for a Dentist close by, so we tried Aspen Dental. Our initial visit to establish care was fine until when we were settling up, we found they added a $150 toothbrush to the bill without telling us. Now I find in these reviews that they've done that to many others, so buyer beware. This should have been enough to make us pause but instead we scheduled our cleanings. My wife had hers done without issue. When my appointment came around, I waited for 35 mins after my appointment for the hygienist to finally come. Within that time, I watched a patient be told their insurance didn't cover whatever they did for her, and she had to pay it which seemed to devastate her but all they would was just look at her in silence. This put me off a bit by the seemingly lack of compassion and made me wonder why they would do work on her without verifying that her insurance would cover the work as was done with us. Not my business I suppose. Then another Patient came storming out of the back telling me and the other waiting patients that "we should leave now. This place is garbage". I waited another 10 to 15 mins then asked the receptionist for the second time to look into whether I'm to be seen anytime soon. Again, she said "he is with a patient". When he came to get me, I asked what happened and he jumped down my throat saying he didn't do the schedule and it wasn't his fault. I certainly knew it wasn't mine but wondered about the aggression. I asked him if he represented this place, He said he didn't. We were both getting heated so at this point I asked the receptionist for a refund of what I paid for this visit to which he loudly added "Good! Don't come back!" I wanted to leave straight away but was told they couldn't refund me, that the manager had to do it so I had to wait still.... When I get back with her, she came off antagonistic. I tried to enquire about how all this could happen but she wasn't having a conversation.. She said she didn't know but the Hygienist was probably pulled into an emergency. Hygienist emergency? Hmmm.. He already said it was a scheduling conflict. She said she can't do a refund on a master card without some sort of process that couldn't be explained other than an email needed to be sent and it would be a few days. McDonalds can do a refund in a few seconds when they need to but whatever.... I had to get out of there. I promised her I would write this review. She snarkily (is that a word?) said "whatever makes you happy" and with the same tone wished me a good rest of my day. Ridiculous..... Just wanted to share this encounter and hope none of you have to endure anything similar. Take a look at the other reviews. I wish I had done so before going there. If you're going to take a chance, look closely at what they'll try to charge you. They added a (not covered) Fluoride treatment without asking me. This is the refund I bet I'll never get. read more

I got a quote for dental work for $25,000 (not for myself, but a good friend). As much as I wanted to help my friend, I told them that is too much for me. I explained I can only pay what will be authorized by Care Credit. They called Care Credit and got authorized for $18K. At that point, they gave me a "Family Discount" getting it down to $19,236, which Care Credit accepted as an "overdraft" ... Now that the bone work has been done, they asked me to pay for the "SECOND PART" (as they called it) - which is nearly $8,000 - to COMPLETE the dental work. I am still paying off Care Credit and I don't have that amount available. I was never advised when being given the estimate that there would be another payment due. If I had known, I wouldn't have done it ... What a ripoff. Don't go there! Such Bait & Switch should be illegal. So I paid nearly $20K and my friend still doesn't have teeth :-( ... This was my first time visiting an Aspen Dentist location. I had no problem with making 2 appointments for myself and my hubby. There was a miscommunication about our insurance and I was sure to confirm with the appointment setter. Our insurance was "good to go" for my appointment but for my husbands his appointment was cancelled and later needed to be rescheduled. Not sure how that happened considering he is the primary insurance holder. Upon arriving, I checked in at the counter and filled out paperwork and shortly I was called to the back office. New location, very little wait, organized and the staff was nice and professional. I almost met the entire staff that day with being a new patient having my x-rays completed, meeting with the hygienist, the dentist, and the office manager or billing specialist. They are right to the point, they explain everything in detail, the recommended work needed, and the payment plans available. There's no fluff, no additional up selling and they were to the point. We will definitely return. I can appreciate professional and straight to the point service. read more

I ended up with an abscess in my mouth soon after getting off antibiotics and need to have a few teeth removed. I called Aspen Dental in Orange City and asked to have emergency surgery and they had me visit the Sanford location where I was told I would get right in. Luckily the abscess drained even before the appointment and the pain went away. When I went to the dentist they had me get xrays and then they said to talk to the one guy about financing which I did and figured afterwards that I would get the surgery. They ended up scheduling me 8 days later for whatever reason and because I don't like to argue and figured if it wasn't hurting that I was fine. The day of my surgery I get to the dentist only to see a sign saying that there scheduling system is down and they would call ASAP. A worker came out and took my number and when I asked if I should stick in town as I spend $60 on a trip out and back and she said best to just wait for a call by the next day. The next day I never get a call but get an email 30 minutes before they close saying that if I had an emergency I could visit my local Aspen Dental and they would see me right away. I get a call this Saturday asking if I still need service, I told them of course as I have already paid half of the charge and still had not got any work done. They scheduled me for today at 2 and at 12:45 I get a call while in the shower and they leave a message saying they double booked and to call back. I call and they just kept giving me a run around about the system outage and claimed the reason I got double booked was that he said I booked online or with the wrong person, when they are the ones that called me and booked it. At this point it has been almost 3 weeks since my 1st visit, they have already charged me and although they just claim it is there scheduling system down, when I asked for a refund I was told I would have to wait for there systems to be back up to do so. It is in the news that they were hit by a cyberattack and although they claim it is just there phone and scheduling system it is obvious that records as well have been compromised. From the initial secretary that took my information and at least 2 of the nurses I was told how serious the abscess could be even after it drained as it could travel elsewhere. They also knew I had been on antibiotics for 4 months and decided not to even prescribe me an anti-biotic. My issue isn't with there scheduling problem, it is with being told that you can got to a location for emergency surgery and then scheduling someone 8 days out when they are essentially swallowing poison the whole time. So 3 weeks later I have already had half the charge taken out in Credit Care, made my 1st payment and still nothing and now I have to wait even longer for a refund.This has been the worst experience I have ever dealt with, with a business and will never go there again. read more

I came to this location for a second opinion with an active gum infection. They Hygeinist said she would give me an antibiotic mouth rinse to help me with my infection since I was in a lot of pain for the past week and a half. The dr said no that I couldn't have it until I saw her. At the time I was there, she was just walking around and didn't have a patient. She couldve took 5-10 mins to give me an exam but she chose not to. Her next available appointment was 2 weeks away. The fact that this doctor would willingly let a patient continue to be in pain for this long speaks alot. She is supposed to be there to HELP people. I felt that she didnt care at all about my situation. I just needed a deep cleaning which would require me to see the Hygienist only. I would never go back to this location again. If I could give negative stars I would. I was going to this location for years, loved the staff and had no problems. Scheduled my cleanings 6 months in advance and made arrangements for work as it is difficult for me to get time off during the week. Get my email reminder and confirm my apt. Then on DAY of I receive a call 3 hours before my apt that they changed their hours and can no longer do my cleaning. They told me that the hygienist does not work past 3 pm and that I would have to come in at 8 am for my cleaning and reschedule. I said when did the hours change and was informed almost 2 months prior. The hygienist laughed like a ditsy valley girl on my voice mail when she called to say she wouldn't be there at the time of my apt. I was treated rude and basically felt like 5 years of service at this location meant nothing. Called another location to find out that I now have to make 2 new apts to make up for this one and that I probably wont be able to get a cleaning before the end of the year. I also tried to receive a refund from extra money that was paid for services my husband did not need and they said they cant issue refunds and that WE HAVE TO be seen there. I feel like this location has gone to hell in a hand basket and should be shut down as they do not care about you or your dental health and you would be better off seeing Jeffrey Dahmer for dental work then this group of quacks!!!!! read more

I am writing this review on behalf of my father, James Goodrich, and his fiance', Kunyah Kachenmeister, who are senior citizens and not computer savvy. Kunyah is the one who is having the work done. My father is the one who has been mostly paying for her procedure. That said, I saw a previous review in which this clinic offered an individual a lower cost for the procedure, and then at the very end, he was told to pay an additional $8,000 to complete everything. That is almost EXACTLY the same scenario my father and Kunyah are experiencing with this business. They were told that the entire procedure would cost $20,000, and that they were being given a discount. They have paid $19,000 to the clinic so far and were expecting to pay the final $1000 at the appointment on February 20, 2023 (which was for Kunyah to get the actual snap-on dentures placed). Lo and behold, they were told that the procedure couldn't be completed unless they paid another $9,000, making the total $28,000. My father and Kunyah were initially told it would cost $28,000 but they explained to the office manager that they couldn't afford that much, which is why they were given the $20,000 price. The worst thing is that NONE OF THIS WAS PUT IN WRITING, which I believe is against the law. We will be contacting the State Attorney General's office as well as the corporate office in New York. It is absolutely disgusting that a company would be this unprofessional and shady. They need to be put out of business and I have no problem helping to make that happen. Apparently there are several more clients that have had this similar experience and it will not be difficult to prove that this clinic's business practices are not only dishonest, but also underhanded. I was new to Aspen Dental a couple years ago. After a couple cleaning visits, I changed insurance companies and my insurance would not pay for the Topical Flouride Varnish ($48). Since I really didn't need this anyway, I told them (before going back for the cleaning) do not apply this varnish because insurance would not cover and they assured me this was recommended but optional. They did not apply the varnish during the cleaning but continued to bill my insurance company for it. (03/14/22) With my new insurance company, I was able to see this fairly quickly and easily. I called and discussed with Aspen Dental billing (Rayna) and she was going to reverse this with the insurance company. A few weeks later, I get a bill in the mail for $60.50. Varnish still on the bill. Spoke to Rayna again and she said she would take care of this and that minus the varnish, I still owed $22.50 out of pocket. I paid the $22.50 and thought that was the end of it. However, month after month, I receive a bill from from Aspen Dental and that I owe $44.50 (the math doesn't even add up) I call and go through the same story. I received another bill 01/12/23 (OMG!) and called again. Aspen now says they cannot pull up invoices that are that old and see the details and that the technician checked that the service was done and I owe $44.50. Basically, they call me a liar. I know it is not a lot of money but it is the principle. They did not perform the service, fraudulently billed my insurance company, I caught them and called them immediately, and now say that I owe this money because the technician indicated on their paperwork that they performed the service. They are threating to send me to collections. (BTW - The technician no longer works for the company. Go figure.) It is apparent this office is very interested in performing procedures and offering services that would generate more revenue versus what is actually needed. CHECK YOUR BILL! You are likely paying more out of pocket than you should and possibly for services they never did. Find another more honest dental provider! read more

I went in because of very occasional tooth pain, one that happens once every quarter or so, but is painful when it happens. They said I had a filling that was cracked and that's why it hurt, and I would need it replaced. OK, fine. Insurance gives me a couple free cleanings so went decided to do that as well. The main hygienist was awesome. She took into account my thyroid issues for the x-rays and was very sweet. I had to make several appointments. The cleaning could have been done before working on the filling but, no, they wanted a separate visit for it. Then, they wanted to do each filling on a separate visit. One was a redo and the other was replacing silver filling with composite and on the same side of the mouth. 2 visits??? Really? No. I had both done on the same visit. They wanted 4 visits instead of 2. Seems a bit fishy to me and I do not appreciate my insurance company being constantly billed for visits that could have easily been consolidated. One doctor kept pressing the importance of flossing and her manner was as if she was reciting out of a book because she was told she had to do it. I haven't had a cleaning in about 10 years and when I went for this one, it was all of 10 minutes with a tiny bit of scraping because the tech was "being anal". Ok... Now, the tooth where the filling was redone is infected. It hurts ALL THE TIME. I can no longer eat on that side of the mouth. I kept calling to make an appointment and kept being put on "a brief hold" and then after a few minutes of waiting, I was hung up on. So, either I walk into the building and make an appointment to have them fix what they broke, or I go and find a new dentist and start over again. Not cool. Oh, and they wanted $45 for a flouride treatment. What?? No thanks. They are not cheap but keep touting available payment plan options, so I'm sure they are making money off of that, too. They keep you coming for multiple appointments, which I have been called numerous times to reschedule and now I cannot get a hold of them. Don't waste your time and money. Find someone else. They are bilking the insurance companies for money, just this side of fraud. read more

After I explained how anxiety ridden I am about having dental work, the X-ray tech came in trying to tell me that my son had 5 cavities and will need to have braces!!! Even being inundated with their come in early phone calls-- which I was 30 min early-- the Dr had left not explaining to me my Son's initial visit. They wanted,e to come back for that. Before he went to his appointment on 3/16 for the work agreed upon They called him 3 days before appt. asking for more money to do other work.
