Cold & corporate environment. Pushy with sales at every chance. Find a small dentistry and safe yourself a lot of money.

The receptionist initially acknowledged that our arrival was reasonable. During check-in, the receptionist's demeanor noticeably changed after reviewing my mother's chart. My mother and I are registered tribal members, and that information is noted in her records. She then stepped away with a coworker just out of sight. While we could not hear the full conversation, we could hear enough of the tone and partial comments to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. After delaying the check-in process themselves, we were told we could not be seen because we were supposedly 11 minutes late. When I pointed out that part of that delay was caused by being asked to wait, the explanation changed and we were then told we had failed to confirm the appointment, despite receiving a confirmation text that same morning. What was most upsetting was how the situation was handled. Instead of helping resolve the issue, the office manager escalated it. My mother became visibly distressed and believed she had done something wrong. I had to bring her to the car to calm her down. When I returned briefly to cancel my father's upcoming appointment, the manager continued confronting me. Even after I left, she followed me out to my car and continued the confrontation, causing my mother even more distress. No patient, especially an elderly patient with dementia, should be treated this way. We had a much better experience here in the past, which makes this even more disappointing. Based on this experience, we will not be returning.

I'm really disappointed to be writing this, especially because the hygienist I saw at this location…read morewas absolutely fantastic--kind, skilled, and thorough. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk receptionist, Derek, was the complete opposite and has ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. I called to reschedule a cleaning appointment, only to find out it would cost me $300 even with insurance. I now understand that there is additional treatment required, but at the time, I was simply trying to schedule a basic cleaning that I assumed was covered by my insurance--especially considering I already pay $350/month for it. I figured some maintenance is better than none, and I was trying to do the best I could with my current financial situation. When I expressed this, Derek repeatedly spoke over me. When I asked him not to interrupt me, his response was, "Well, I can hang up if you prefer that." Completely unprofessional. What could have been a calm, understanding conversation turned tense due to his tone, lack of empathy, and dismissive attitude. To be told by a receptionist that getting a cleaning without the additional treatment would do more harm than good felt inappropriate--those are decisions and explanations I expect from a licensed hygienist or doctor, not someone at the front desk. It's unfortunate that one person's attitude overshadowed an otherwise positive clinical experience. I will be moving on to an office where the front desk treats patients with respect and lets the medical professionals guide the care decisions.

About as comfortable as a dentist visit can be!…read more A little background here...up until my appointment with Dr. Nickou I had not been to the dentist in 8 years after a few bad experiences with 2 different dentists. GROSS I know but once you've had a bad experience (let alone two) you NEVER want to go back to another dentist. After some pushing by my wife I made my appointment at Dr. Nickou's office and I'm glad I did. The staff at Charles Nickou's office is great. Making the appointment was easy and there wasn't a long waiting period. I originally made an appointment for one month down the road but got a call one week after making the appointment for an appointment that opened in two days. So I went to the dentist early. When I got in the door everyone was very nice to me. They asked why I hadn't been to the dentist in so long to get some background and then they took me back to the dreaded chair... ...The chair was way more comfortable than I had remembered it because the hygienist made me feel very comfortable. She was very good and very quick. I had my x-rays and my cleaning done in 30 minutes. After the cleaning Dr. Nickou came in to go over my x-rays and it turned out I had one cavity (my first cavity ever). He explained what he wanted to do and was ridiculously nice. He had me make another appointment to come back and get a filling. A few weeks later I was back at the office to get my filling and I'll admit I was pretty nervous to get the filling. The whole procedure was done in 15 min though and was not really uncomfortable at all. They have pictures on the ceiling of beaches and snow capped mountains etc. I thought it was a nice touch. Dr. Nickou also continually checked with me to make sure everything was OK. If you've had a bad experience in the past like me and you're delaying going to a different dentist because you think "you can't trust someone that puts their hands in your mouth" believe me, if you go see Dr. Nickou he'll take good care of you. The office is clean and the staff is great...it really is as comfortable as a dentist appointment can get.
