I had a free consultation regarding some teeth that had ended up causing a bone infection. This was my 2nd opinion place - and I only went because I called ahead of the consultation to see if they did free consultations/took my insurance. Which the MANAGER was who I spoke with, and she guaranteed me that the visit would be free & that they wouldn't do x-rays since i had literally just been x-rayed at my primary dds. The hygienist not only took repeat x-rays, but I now just got a collections letter for a $65 exam fee I never paid. I brought up the x-rays during the consultation and she immediately comp'd them. But now I get to dispute the exam charge with an attorney's office because they sent it to collections. went in for dentures. was quoted $19,000 and when they say anyone can get financing, don't expect to get a decent amount. I have a 700 credit score with 99% on time payments, I got financed for $1200. Then, when I was unable to make it to my oral surgery appointment because I work all the time, they said that since their oral surgeon is so limited, they woils have to refer me to an outside oral surgeon, who would then charge my insurance to cover the surgery. Went here right before the pandemic, had entire top plate removed, they broke every tooth off, sent me home for over a week with a mouth full of broken and very painful teeth, didnt ahve a surgeon on staff yet, 10 days later, the removed the broken teeth, the dentures were horrible, bever wore them, was supposed to go back for new dentures, took the financial hit snd never returned, staff were incompetent at best and rude, treat you like a used car salesman, emergency service and i had to get cleared for financing before they would help, 0/10, dont recommend read more

I went in for a dental cleaning but was told I had to have an exam first. The dental assistant immediately had my mouth filled with very uncomfortable equipment that I had never seen before for my X-Rays. She took so many I lost track! We ran out of time and I was told I would get a follow-up call for my exam. I called 6 times and no one returned my call, except for one lady. She said they would call me back, but they still didn't. Now I am set up for an exam next week, but I am very nervous about working with these people, as the reviews are terrible and I still haven't got an appt. for my teeth cleaning, nor have I had any decent experiences with communications! Got there 5 minutes early, after proving all my insurance information. The girl at reception mispronounced my first and last name, then called my insurance company cause she put the wrong information in the system. DO NOT go here. I went in for 2 dental implants. One got infected and had to be removed. The removal was SO unprofessional and painful. Horrible infection after the removal. On pain meds and home for over a week... and afraid to go back. But when I did try to reschedule to finish the 2 dental implants, they tried to pay me off and didn't want to finish the job. Unfortunately for me I needed to get dentures and went to Aspen Dental. All I can say is I would highly recommend this practice. Dr. Machi and an assistant Brooklyn are awesome. Crooks! Beware! I visited Aspen Dental in Sioux Falls, SD, because it was close and they take walk-ins. I needed a cleaning as it had been 12 months. After my exam, they told me that I needed a service which would be $1900 and a regular cleaning would not help me. But, I would only need to give them close to $700 and my insurance would pay the rest. Keep in mind I am double insured. I walked out feeling that something was wrong - other than just the price, they were completely unprofessional and the dentist extremely rude. I made an appointment with my husband dentist and they confirmed what I already knew. Regular cleaning covered by insurance w with no out of pocket. These guys are a bunch of crooks. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I went here because I thought it would be cheap. The dentists were rude and judgmental, the prices were insane even with dental insurance. They told me I had 9 cavities and gum disease that would require special treatment and surgery, which would cost well over $1k. Im in a place where I can thankfully get a second opinion, so I did. Not only did Aspen not send my records to the new office, but they also conveniently failed to send my x-rays showing my "9 cavities." My new dentist told me I only had 2 small cavities and very healthy gums and teeth, only a $200 fix. They said Aspen is notorious for scamming people into getting procedures and treatments that they didn't need to get extra cash. Do not waste your time or your money here or at any Aspen clinic. I had an all around bad experience here. First of all, after the first visit, the financial guy took me into a room and tried to tell me I need Invisalign for thousands of dollars in addition to crowns and fillings. Then, he handed me an electric toothbrush. Later when I looked at my bill, I saw that they were charging me $135 for it. On my next visit, I was supposed to get a deep cleaning, which usually takes about 4 hours. I had waited for about a half hour or more, it was an evening appt. Then, the hygienist got it done in about 45 minutes. There is no way that procedure can be done in 45 minutes. I paid what I owed after insurance before my visit and gave the unopened toothbrush back. They took it off my bill, or so they said. I received a bill for the amount of the toothbrush in the mail. I called and asked them why. They just said I didn't pay what I owed. I explained the toothbrush to them and they said they would adjust my bill. I still received a bill after that. Was looking for a new dentist, decided to give them a try. Got in for my appointment, had X-rays done, talked with a very friendly hygienist and the dentist. The dentist suggested I get 3 crowns and a Periodontal Cleaning. I then met with the Business Manager to go over payment. The Business Manager then told me they were unable to run my Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance. This struck me as kind of strange, but he made a call to the Insurance dept of Aspen Dental to get it figured out. He was unable to get a hold of anyone and said he would get a hold of them and give me a call the next day. After a week of hearing nothing I decided to call and ask the Business Manager if he had any more info. He said he still hadn't heard back from them and would give them a call and get it figured out, again, he stated he'd call me tomorrow. After a month of not hearing anything from them, I was fed up and decided to go back to my old dentist. Who has never had an issue running my insurance. After doing the regular checkup my dentist suggested a few fillings, no crowns and just a basic cleaning, saving me literally thousands of dollars. I'm not sure if this is how all Aspen Dental's are run or just this one, but I would NEVER do business with this business though. Beware. read more

This place is a scam PBS Frontline has a documentary outlining the scams this chain is conducting on thousands of unwitting patients. Our experience was similar to others. The dentist had facebook stalked my spouse before their appointment, made lots of overly flattering comments before diving in to the appointment. The clinic declared they needed over $3000 in root planing urgently and this must be done before the clinic would even consider repairing the chipped tooth they went in for. What the clinic didn't know was that they had a full root planing done elsewhere a year earlier. This was a total scam. The clinic refused to do anything about a painful chipped tooth that just needed a temporary repair before they could get in to their regular dentist. We bought tooth patch at Target and booked with our normal dentist out of town. The $135 toothbrush scam was attempted and declined. read more

Rebooked by THE dental office for my initial visit, but when I got in for the second scheduled 1st visit after 80 minutes in the waiting room I did have to leave I could not stand the wait any longer. Third time scheduled for my initial visit, there was no hygienist so it was just the x-ray and talk. Fourth time in, just saw hygienist. Now scheduled for getting my wisdom teeth out, who knows when exactly it will happen. My insurance covers them, so honestly cost is what is driving me to them. The equipment is modern just didn't feel like everything was as clean as it SHOULD be. The tv above my legs is weird and not for me, I had to reassure her yes I want you to shut it off. The staff is overbooked, they all appear to be in dire need of a break (I know the look I wore it all day at my last job)! I wasn't going to write a review, but today I received a bill in the mail for an appointment I had cancelled and was refunded for. Earlier this month I went in for a teeth cleaning, and was quoted on the phone that it would be about $105 without insurance. I go in for my exam and x rays and the dentist is telling me how nice it is to see someone with healthy teeth and compliments my straight teeth etc. I know that I have healthy teeth and no cavities and after he uses his sharp metal poker on my gums he then says I have gingivitis and possibly early periodontitis. But says it may also not be that and I might just need a good cleaning. Then a lady pulls me in the office for payment and to book my cleaning and was trying to add on a $150 electric toothbrush after I already told the dentist I have one. After that was taken off my bill I owed $466! I told her that was much more than I had been told over the phone and so I had her bring the dentist in to review the bill. He came in and told me I had "unhealthy gums". So feeling a little pressured I ended up paying it and booking my appointment the next day. I called the next morning and cancelled and was told the refund would take 1-1.5 weeks. After 2 weeks I called asking where my refund is, the lady said there's still a "ticket" out for the refund and that she would call me the next day with an update. I never received a call from them but low and behold the next day my refund was in my account. Worst dentist experience I've ever had! read more

First visit - my husband went in due to a crown coming off. The Aspen hygienist & business office were so busy padding the bill that NO ONE even asked my husband if he had any pain & barely looked at the tooth. The dentist came in for less than a minute, looked at the cap & said it wouldn't fit without even having my husband open his mouth. My husband was going to owe $3400 AFTER insurance by the time they were done. Aspen even had a root canal listed on the treatment plan, which had already been done on that specific tooth when it was originally capped. My husband went to another dentist, who cemented the cap back onto the tooth FREE of charge! Aspen is just out to fleece anyone they can!! Stay away! read more

Went in to get teeth cleaned and fix a chipped tooth. They ended up telling me I needed to come back for three more visits to fix 12 cavities, 2 crowns, and I also had gingivitis. After talking to the business people there, they said it would cost just under $6,000. I didn't think this was right and went to a different dental office where they told me I only had 3 cavities. I went to AspenDental to fix a broken tooth. I was immediately told I had Periodontal disease and gingivitis and that it would take a $1000.00. Over all I was told that it would cost $5000.00 to fix the problems with my teeth. I was told I would have to go on antibiotic treatment before the tooth could be fixed. I was scared about what they were telling me. It was outrageous! But before I could leave they basically threatened me and said I would have to pay up front before they would even book another visit. I asked again and again to just have the front tooth fixed but they said no. They also told me I was losing bone in my jaw fast. The next I went to a long time dentist in my town and he said I did not have Periodontal disease or gingivitis. I was not losing bone in my jaw either. He told me he could and would fix my for $600.00. Aspen Dental is a scam place set up to threaten it's customers with bogus illnesses and charges. It is funny that everyone who walks into the Arrowhead location has Periodontal disease. I requested a refund of my money and still have not gotten it. Aspen dental is a rip off. I will never go back there and will tell all others run, run away fast or you too will have some disease in your mouth. This place will make up things just to make more money. After explaining this they told me not to pay the credit line and wait for them to pay it off and then just charge me. It's been a month and they haven't done that and now I have to pay the credit line that does not include my insurance payment forcing me to now pay interest on something that could have been paid off a month ago! TLDR; Do not go to any Aspen Dental. I came in for a normal cleaning and they told me I had gingivitis and needed the treatment. I already was aware I had gum problems and I have thyroid disease so I was convinced I also have gum disease. I had to pay 280 out of pocket. The 280 included the treatment (which was just poking on my gums for 30 minutes) seemed like a normal cleaning. They told me with the normal cleaning they wouldn't reach down to where the bacteria was so I needed the treatment. The treatment bill came with a very nice electric tooth brush and dental mouthwash and toothpaste. I realize that's what I paid for basically. I came with a friend also and she was also told she had gingivitis. She didn't want the treatment and they REFUSED to give her a cleaning without paying for gingivitis. She left because she felt uncomfortable. Place is weird. And a chain. They told me I have to have a check up, but I'm not going :)))) ALSO she asked if they are tested on animals and the dentist said the toothpaste and mouthwash are tested on rats and then asked if she cared about rats!! I would give this place 0 stars if it was possible. They over load the bill with a bunch over crap you don't needed, so that a cleaning ends up being hundreds of dollars. If you do go here make you ask them multiple times remove the stuff you don't absolutely need, as they won't do it the first time you ask. The most annoying thing about this place is that they rescheduled my appointment twice. The second time without even telling me, so that I showed up after taking time off work only to be turned away. I had the displeasure of dealing with Aspen Dental today. My appointment was at 3 PM, so I arrived early at around 2:50 to complete my patient paperwork. I was done at around 2:55 and waited for approximately 30 minutes and was shown back to my room. I need some molar work done, so we ran a few X-rays and I sat down and waited at around 3:30. I sat and waited in the room, with absolutely no one checking in on me, until 4:45. At which point, I had to go. I hadn't anticipated the wait taking so long and had other things to do today. I got the receptionist and was planning on paying for my X-rays. We sat down and then I heard my dentist and the assistant speaking about me. I hadn't been able to find my assistant, so I went to the receptionist. I heard them saying, "Where did she go?" "I don't know." "She should really know better than to waste our time." I looked at the receptionist and said, "They're talking about me" to her. The only person worth my time in that entire building was the receptionist. If she's reading this, I'm sorry for my outburst. It wasn't directed towards you, but rather the accusation that *I* wasted their time after I had patiently waited for two hours, interrupting no one and keeping to myself.
