I posted a review about our visit to aspen dental in Springfield, Illinois. As promised, I made a compliant with the Department of Professional Standards in January. I was contacted by Aspen dental, and was given a return of our funds. However, it was not about the money, but the fact that we had to spend another 1,500.00 to another oral surgeon to fix the problems/issues with the Springfield, Illinois Aspen office. The department of Professional Standards acted on the complaint. Now, in the month of October, after the complaint, we started getting bills again, wanting their money back. I have had bad tooth pain for a couple of days so I decided to go get it looked at. I went online to find a dentist. Aspen had one appointment open in Springfield on Dirksen at 2:30. I left work early at 1:30 and drove from Decatur to Springfield to find a note on the door. (pictured) I called their number to spend five minutes of computerized q&a before I could speak to a human. She informed me that my appointment is at 2:30 on Dirksen Parkway. I told her about the note on the door, she put me on hold. When she came back she said "the office on Dirksen is open." I assured her they absolutely are closed, she put me on hold. She then came back on and asked me if I tried the door. Of course I did, it's locked, and again I tell her, there's a note on the door that says they're closed. So why let me book the appointment?!?! I lost work time and drove 45 minutes for nothing, worst of all my tooth still hurts! read more

Horrible experience, was refused services after setting everything up due to blood pressure and am now being charged for services that they refused to do, i disputed it and am told i owe even more now. I used aspen dental to get a cavity filled. They did such a poor job that I had to go in a second time due to intense pain after my initial visit. After paying my co-payment at the office for my second bill, I was sent a faulty bill. When I attempted to to contact the office, they agreed that the bill should not have been sent but there was nothing they could do about it and I have to pay it. Bad dentists who cannot fill a cavity and bad billing that make people pay bills that should not exist. read more

I had a lower denture made. The waiting time is totally unnecessary. Had to wait everytime over 2 to 3 hours in a hot vehicle no less. They totally overbook or underwork. Receptionist is rude. A patient returned after a extraction with blood on her hand, shirt and pants asking for help and they left her standing in the lobby, just standing there bleeding until they can get to her.........7 people behind the counter and not one could get her and let her sit down and check her out......compassion......no way. Horrible horrible experiences at both Springfield Illinois and Skokie Illinois locations. I am in immense pain and have been for two years since I got these crappy dentures there and paid over $3000 fir them. It took a year and six different dentists to even get fitted for my torture teeth and then the dentist who assaulted me decided they fit and ordered them in thus awful gray color without asking me. I cannot get follow up service or a refund and I'm just stuck with these. Do not go to this corporate he'll hole sorry excuse for a dentist who false advertised. I have tried to get my dental records and tried to resolve the issue with their customer satisfaction office but to no avail. They told me I had to return to the nan who assaulted me in order to have an adjustment before they would consider a refund. This establishment steals money and assaults patients. I was already afraid of the dentist and now I'm stuck with no bottom teeth and dentures (torture teeth)that do not fit. I'm a school teacher and I lecture all day so I have to suffer through the blisters in my mouth and put these torture teeth in my mouth so I can talk. Then in the eves and weekends I have to take out the torture teeth so the blisters will heal. Therefore I stay at home alone isolating because I'm embarrassed that I don't have teeth. This, in turn, exacerbates my depression causing passive suicidal ideation, thinking that I'd be better off dead. This has went on for three years. I try to just wait and wear them to see if my mouth will adjust but it only gets worse. I have only eaten mashed potatoes, ramen noodles, and mac and cheese for three years!!!! Every time I call they say I have to go in to the office. I do and they upsell. Last time I went to the Skokie office and she said she could fix it for another 3K. I just want my money back and my dental records so I can report the dentist who assaulted me. They will not comply. Also impossible to get in touch with. Notice that the only time management responds to these reviews are the positive ones. I got put in hold for 20 minutes today until the office closed then disconnected. I have contacted said customer satisfaction line but got no return call. It is my legal right to see my dental records. They say that I have to drive down to Springfield and get them in person. They are obviously stalling so they can be altered. I want to report the dentist who assaulted me but they won't tell me his name. I had a different dentist every visit. I've reported this to BBB for resolution and both of my insurance policies and flexible spending account and care credit to try and get reimbursed but aspen dental got all the money and I got all the misery. Also they advertise $399 dentures....no such thing. My bottom torture teeth were well over 3K. I originally went in for the snap on dentures but it would take over six months to schedule an oral surgeon and they would not let me schedule until the bill was paid in full BEFORE the procedure. So I had to pay for torture teeth and then beg for a refund.....this sounds like some s&m fantasy....but I'm not really into that and have yelled my safe word a billion times...I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! read more

First appointment was ok, except x rays and cleaning are done at separate appointments... A little inconvenient but whatever. Second appointment charged $200 over for a periodontitis treatment I was supposed to receive at my next appointment- that was a MISTAKE by the office manager. I don't have periodontal disease. Go in to set next appointment because nobody from the office calls me to set one and the dentist is facetiming in the back with her gloves and mask on.. Hmm Today should have been my last appointment (all this to fill a couple cavities?) I waited almost 2 hours before being told I would need to reschedule for another day because they are so behind. Must be some pretty intense FaceTime convos going on back there. Aspen dental, you will never see my mouth or a cent of my money again! read more

I am a "procrastinator" as I am in the medical field and we are the worst patient's. It will always get better so we post pone. Dr. Jarrar and his staff are always ready to listen. Sometimes they "Sound" busy because they are. There was a student present and I was very pleased with the way the pro staff handled her as well. Not derogatory and not impatient. I am happy to have a dental provider that will work with my schedule and also allow me to "be slightly" non compliant (use my own mouthwash lol) and still want to take care of me. The ladies and Dr. Jarrar are awesome. thank you folks very much for your care and your attitudes at your job. read more

Avoid at all costs! I had 4 teeth extracted including 2 wisdom. My appointment was scheduled for 11am on a Friday, and they took me into the operating room around 11:10am. I then had to wait over 90 minutes until the dentist actually came in to start. The procedure went fine for the most part, and after they provided me an emergency contact number in case I had any issues over the weekend. When i got home I had major troubles getting the bleeding to stop and after several hours called the emergency line. I was told the doctor on call would call me back. No one called. We repeatedly called the emergency line over the next several hours and were continously told someone would call but no one did. The following day was the same. Heavy bleeding and swelling, and constant calls to the emergency line and assurances that a doctor would call back. No one ever called back. Do not trust these scumbags. They want your money and don't care about their patients. Please do not put yourself or your family through what my family went through. Avoid at all costs! read more

5 Dentists 8 months, Huge amounts of money,for below average work. No-one ever answers the phone ,Ive even been hung up on.Horrible communication from the back room to the front desk.No-one knows whats going on there.Waited 2 months for a bridge first one came with 2 different color teeth, lasted a week and broke,lost my impressions cant find where the new bridge was sent too. I finally went to a different dentist last week and had my teeth cleaned. (I know, it took awhile, shame on me). Turns out my teeth are in great shape and I have zero cavities. Zero. How do you go from one "dentist" telling you that you have seven cavities to a different dentist over a year later telling you that you have none. This place is such a joke and clearly I'm holding a grudge lol. read more

This is a terrible dentist. One that pushes overpriced services that are not necessary. Aspen forced periodontal maintenance into my 'normal' visits. The next dentist I went to stated that my teeth and gums are in perfect shape. Bottom line Aspen does not care a bit about the best interests of their patient only that they make money. After my dental consultation, I had to see the office manager to go over the procedures and fees. I was told I could use the flex pay I had, pay the full amount of the coming year flex pay, and the rest of the balance I could make monthly payments to them. This was all IN WRITING!!! Had the procedure done. The temporary dentures were horrible. They hurt and were very ill fitting. Had bone fragments I ended up digging out MYSELF because they wouldn't let me see the dentist, only the dental assistants. The material they used to temporary reline made me sick and gums blister. I was told I was probably allergic to the material, but that was all they could do until time for permanent dentures. The permanent ones would be completely different and much better fitting. Once all the flex money had been received, (I had been making payments on balance), they sent me a demand for immediate payment on balance. Then, collection letters were received. I went into the office to discuss the matter and get the collection letters stopped. The new office manager was rude and adamant they were not going to honor my contract. She said the old office manager was fired for doing things like that. She further stated she could not get collection demands halted. I owed the money and it was due at time of service. THAT was their policy. Furthermore, Aspen did not finance anything. The former office manager did not have the authority to make such contracts. I insisted that their office manager made the agreement and they had to stand behind their employees actions. They still refused. Told me to go ahead and sue for breech of contract. I ended up taking money I needed for medical treatment and paid the balance in full. The permanent teeth, they gave me, are ill fitting. They have cut into my gums, made sores in my mouth, cut so deeply on one side it was irritating the tooth nerve and felt like a major toothache. I was scheduled to have surgery so I wanted to get in to have these issues fixed before then. I was told it would be at least TWO weeks before I could get in. This place has a "walk-in" policy but a client, with pain issues, can't get into see a dentist for TWO WEEKS? After weeks of being ignored, pain and suffering, and not being able to wear the darn things for very long, I decided to invoke the money back guarantee. Since they won't return calls or help, I guess I will have to go to small claims court. My opinion, based on my experiences is, Aspen Dental, has been: Deceptive, unscrupulous, negligent, fraudulent, and has failed to provide necessary care needed. I wish I knew then what I know now. Awful language barrier with all 3 doctors I've encountered at both Springfield location. The Dirksen location did not return any of my call post-extraction despite me being in awful discomfort. Their doctors travel so they may be in Springfield one day and Chicago the next, therefore care is inconsistent. The dental X-ray machine was down during my exam. I'm not sure if this is normal but while having 2 extractions done with Dr Bruno I received minimal local anisthetic and was told to take ibuprofen. After not sleeping because of the pain post-extraction I called MANY times, no one ever picked up the phone. I left several messages asking for a call back. I eventually had to call and make an appointment at the Veterans Pkwy location to get help. At the time I went here, I was told the computers were down therefore they could not view my records. I had not been to the dentist in quite sometime. I have always had a fear of going since I was a child. Going to Aspen dental this week was the best experience I have had. The team was extremely nice and welcoming. I will recommend this place to everyone who I know. Thanks for all the hard work the team put in! Couldn't tell you how the dental services are, but the way they run the office couldn't be more amateur if they tried. I had an appointment scheduled for 4:15 PM and was told to get there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork since I was a new patient. Sat there until 4:45 patiently but noticed nobody was sitting at the front desk for most of that time. Several people came in and finally someone came out to sign them in. I'd been there for 45 minutes past my appointment time and finally asked what was taking so long. They said they would find out. Five more minutes go by and I was finally informed that it would be at least another hour wait before the doctor got around to seeing new patients. I told them to forget it and left. Since they fully well knew the doctor was running behind today, they could have told me that when I checked in. That's what a courteous office would do. A professional office would have called, texted, or emailed me a warning about the holdup and offered a new time before I had to take the time off work and drive across town. Unless you have a fetish for bland waiting rooms and extremely pathetic customer service, I'd strongly advise against this poor excuse of an office. read more

This location was amazing. I was quite weary to have all four wisdom teeth removed but this team made my experience exceptional. From the first visit to the procedure, every person I met and spoke to was nice, helpful, and communicated clearly to put me at ease. Both my sister's had terrible experiences (at different locations) but Dr. Kim and the staff made my experience quite different. My parents (one in the medical field) was deeply impressed by the patience the staff had with all our calls and questions; very impressed by the list of instructions and one on one the staff had to explain everything and even more impressed with the level of preventive steps the team took so I wouldn't have complications later. My whole family has already been spreading the word that if you need your wisdom teeth out, this is the place to go and Dr. Kim is the doctor you need. I strongly encourage you try it out, I'm quite happy I did. read more

Where do I start? I'm from out of town and a filling fell out. I needed a temporary filling put in. I was not even called into the back until 90 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. The tech told me she needed to take X rays. I explained that I had recently had a full set of X rays and I had an appointment with my own dentist back home four days from then. The tech said that the dentist required them. I asked if I could speak to the dentist, and had to wait 20 minutes. Some guy in a lab coat came out (I assume this was the dentist - he never introduced himself) and told me that the X rays were only to protect himself from liability. I offered to sign a waiver. He said no. Then he disappeared and I did not see him again. I even got my own dentist's tech on the phone to let him know that they could go ahead with the temporary filling. Not good enough. He wished to expose me to unnecessary radiation (at his own admission) while conveniently running up my bill. Not having a choice, I submitted to the x rays. After another half hour, I was told that I'd be fitted with a temporary filling (surprise!). I watched people who had come in an hour after I did get served first. Finally a very nice, competent tech put my temporary filling. It took about five minutes. I went to pay and had to stand there for 15 minutes while two people struggled to find the right code or something. Then they told me they couldn't take a credit card. Luckily, I had cash. I spent over three hours in the office for a procedure that took five minutes. I was given unnecessary and expensive X-rays that the dentist admitted were medically unnecessary. The temporary filling, by the way, has come almost completely out. Not only would I not recommend Aspen Dental, I have been telling my friends who live here that they should never patronize this business. read more

This place deserves a zero rating! The first problem is that you have to pay up front for your visit (supposedly they send your info to your dental insurance). The second problem is that they do NOT send your info to your insurance. No matter how many times over the past year I have called, they still will not submit my claim to my insurance.
