PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO!! HOSPITAL To Preface; this is the first yelp review I have EVER written, never seen the need to before this. These guys put me in the hospital for days. I got my wisdom teeth out through Aspen dental, all very sweet people, however, they did no sort of sanitation before or after surgery and put me on no antibiotics. I ended up with two infected extraction sites and my check swelled to the size of a balloon. Day 3: Went back to Aspen Dental where they tell me I should try "Ice packs" (I have been ) The Doc sees me an literally said "Oh sh*tttt" under his breath before not checking instead mouth and prescribing me with Antibiotics (Later I was told by my Hospital team that the ones he gave me likely never would have worked) Day 4: I then went to the ER because my clots weren't forming correctly and I couldn't stop the bleeding, and when I called Aspen Dental they told me it would resolve on its own. They tell me I have a possibly life threatening infection and mentioned surgery several time, however I recovered quickly enough that I did not need it. I have now been in the Hospital for 3 nights on IV Antibiotics and steroids, with disgusting infected pus draining from my cheek into my mouth that I have to suction away ever few minutes with this straw vacuum by my bed. Most story's I heard about wisdom teeth people are feeling better by day 3-4. This has been one of the most unpleasant, needlessly expensive, stressful, and emotionally demanding events that I have gone through, and it was totally avoidable. I went to this office for a root canal and was told they were in network for my insurance. I paid almost 1k cash which I expected and what they said I would pay based on my coverage. 6 mos later and after the calendar year I get a bill for another 1k. They did a bait and switch. The first person who worked on me was in network. The 2nd one wasn't. They left $1400 of my insurance unused. The actual dental work was ok but this shocking extra bill? VERY stressful. So Many reactions to this place! My initial visit was pleasant and even tho it took a huge amount of time to get thru, it was relatively painless and the immediately got me approved for full dentures which sounded like a scary, painful but somehow simple process. The day before my appointment for the removal and dentures I got a message at approximately 2:00pm that the doctor who was to do my procedure would not be there and I needed to call them to reschedule. I called 15 times and left more than one rude message due to the fact that after the first few calls I expected that they would want to secure that $5000 by calling me back quickly. As I do service work and I was driving back past their office I stopped in, pissed! The office staff was pretty rude when I told them I needed the next available date and time or that they should have pushed other people back instead of cutting off a whole days worth of patients who probably arranged time off work to be there. We settled on a week later. I gave back my days off that week and requested a week later. I showed up for my appointment, got in and got numbed up, the dentist then went to see other patients for an hour and a half before returning and quickly removing my teeth and administering more anesthetic due to the initial dose wearing off. Gave me a couple stitches crammed the new teeth into my mouth and gave me a script for some pain meds, hindsight.. way too weak. By the time I got the prescription filled I was in mind numbing pain and tried to go home and go to bed. The way the teeth were in, I could not swallow or talk let alone even think of eating. I left the teeth in for 22 hours but took them out when I finally had to get up and take some more pain meds, removing the blood soaked towel and pillow from my bed. A few hours later I had my post op appointment which was really a sub doctor doing a few small adjustments on my dentures before telling me that I would have to wait a few weeks for the swelling to go down before I could even know whether they were going to fit at all. So it is a week now and I still cannot get the teeth in, and am still in an amazing amount of pain, no choice but to wait for possibly another couple of weeks to see if the swelling goes down and more importantly the pain subsides so I can get the immediate set of very expensive dentures into my mouth in hopes that they will actually fit and work properly. I can say the first set of dentures looks and feels like a cheap plastic set, if the permanent set looks the same that will be a very bad day for all involved especially given the cost, supposedly I paid for the top tier, best of the best dentures with a 7 year warranty. I recently went to my second appointment at the veterans parkway location and the woman, who wa very pleasant, told me th she didn't have the answer to my question about a coupon for someone who didn't have insurance and that I would get a call first thing in the morning. I called back the next day just before noon and I left a message asking for a call back. I didn't get a call back so I tried again a few hours later and I g a recorded message stating tha there were restrictions on my number preventing my call to go through. read more

I waited 45 minutes in the lobby on my first visit just to get X-rays. Then after an hour of X-rays and more waiting I meet the office manager who explains yes two hours is normal for them for your first visit!!! I informed her I been there two hours and I didn't even get my teeth cleaned I was informed it was because I didn't ask. I not sure about you but I never had to tell a dentist to clean my teeth before. It was a very bad customer service experience and I will never be back. read more

Not impressed this time. Went a year ago August and had a good experience. Different dentist from last year. Called yesterday and was able to get an appointment for today easily which was good. I'm called back to chair and then the hygienist started naming things that needed done. One was X-rays. I said I don't want to do X-rays because I don't have dental insurance. She went to talk to someone and then came back to do the cleaning, left again, came back and then said come with her for the X-rays. Then the dentist comes in (not the same person from last year) and was Abrupt and kind of Rude. Edit: went back a week later to get a copy of my X-rays to get a second opinion and they were having computer/printer problems. The lady said she would call and I could come back. I said that wouldn't work because I live in Jacksonville. She wrote down my address and said they would mail them. Another week goes by and nothing so I call. I told the lady on the phone what happened, she put me on hold for several minutes and comes back and asks if I had filled out a paper. I said no, no one had said anything about filling out any papers. And the printer was still "broken". I happened to be in Peoria a few days after I called and didn't get anywhere and decided to stop in to see if they could help. Told them the problem and 5-10 minutes later a copy of my X-rays are in the mail to me. I highly recommend the Peoria office! I was disappointed that they do not do root canals. So after spending a lot of money to be evaluated at Aspen, I was told to see a specialist and HE would decide if I needed a tooth removal, crown or root canal. And the X-ray equipment MUST be replaced. The devices they out in my mouth for the X-rays actually caused bleeding and a lot of pain. It was more painful than the toothache. read more

The staff is so friendly and helpful! Everyone took their time in explaining everything and was very patient with me. The doctor was very thorough in her examination and explanation. The 3 year warranty on dentures is a joke so is their money back guarantee. Now I have 2 sets of broken bottom partials I have a broken top plate. And instead of money back because I chose to have my work finished elsewhere I have been turned over to a bill collection agency. Don't bother writing bad reviews on their site. When I made my appointment with who turned out to be the corporate offices, I was told my appointment charge for a referral from my regular dentist would be $19 and that they would work out a payment plan with me. After my 2.5 hours of waiting in the exam chair I was told that my visit was $87 and that I had to apply for a credit card to "make payments". Then I was told everything I need to have done needs to be paid in full, by credit or I guess lump sum, before they'll do the work. I'm not exactly happy about this, but I need the work done. read more

I normally do not write reviews but since I rely on them and this place has yet to be reviewed I feel it is needed. I highly advise anyone not to go here. i recently moved to springfield and was in need of a 6 month check up and cleaning on my teeth. I made the appointment assuming that is what I would get. However waiting for my name to be called someone came out and was not happy because her "teeth hurt more than when she got there, and they couldn't even diagnose the problem". I sat there anyway when the dental hygienist I'm assuming whispered my name at the door and seem frustrated when I didn't hear her. Then she proceded to take x-rays which is fine, until standing right in front of me she said "Why is my uncle calling me?" then with her gloves ON she proceded to pull out her nasty germ infested cell phone out of her pocket. She then messed around on it for a minute and the put it back in her pocket. Then she put her now germy gloved hands on the x-ray item and shoved her fingers into my mouth. I was throughly disgusted. I'm not even a germ freak but that was just gross and unprofessional. I was then brought into the exam room where she dropped the cotton ball on the ground and possibly threw it out and grabbed another one. I'm not entirely sure because she was behind me. The really awkward dentist came in and shook my hand and looked in my mouth. I brought up a problem I have been having with my teeth and he just couldn't figure out what I was talking about. At this point I was just hoping to get the cleaning over with. Then he said i would be taken into the office managers office where I found out the idiot at the front desk couldn't get my insurance verified because they said I had the wrong birth date. I've never had a problem with it and made a different appointment at another office and they had no problem either. Finally she dropped the ball on me... "so this is he cost before the insurance, when would you like to make your appointment for your cleaning?" Well actually my cleaning is scheduled for today, i said. "No actually we never schedule the x-rays and a cleaning in the same day, our call center is not very clear about that" I then took my things and left. I will be going to another dentist from now on. I called the new dentist office and told them my story. They were disgusted and said they had heard horrible things about that place. read more

Aspen Dental - $8000 bill, after insurance it would have cost me $4000. They told me I had periodontal disease and needed 4 fillings and 2 crowns. I was also told they would not do any work unless I agreed to have the periodontal disease treatment. I decided to get a second opinion...went to a private dentist. NO periodontal disease, I do need 2 crowns and fillings though. After insurance and discounts, my total out of pocket is $175. Quite a difference....STAY AWAY FROM ALL THESE DENTAL CHAINS. Go get a private practice dentist, you will be much happier....I can't give less than one star, but you get the idea..... read more

I have been to a few Dentists here in town. I found this one to be the best in overall treatment of their patients. The People are friendly and always making sure you are doing ok.
